Introduction

Hello everyone, welcome to our Walkthrough for Allure of the Opaleye Side Quest of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. This creature-related side quest can be unlocked by students of Year 6 or above after reaching Chapter 6 of Year 6. During it, you will get the opportunity to learn more about Antipodean Opaleye dragons and even befriend one of them in the Magical Creatures Reserve.

Since these dragons are considered to be the most beautiful, you and Badeea will get a unique opportunity to capture its beauty and create a lovely gift for Hagrid.

Your first task in this quest is to attend a Care of Magical Creatures class, so go there when you are ready. Once you arrive, you will notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you are curious to see what they have to say.

Professor Kettleburn will gather everyone and say there is a special guest for the lesson, Rubeus Hagrid. Hagrid will say that he has something extraordinary to show the class. Moments later, he’ll show everyone the egg of Antipodean Opaleye, one of the most beautiful dragons in the world. Apparently, the egg was discovered by a Muggle who mistook it for a fossil. Luckily, Hagrid knew better.

According to Hagrid, the egg is healthy and should hatch pretty soon. Because of that, he’ll be donating it to the Romanian Dragon Sanctuary. Badeea will notice that Hagrid doesn’t look too happy. You’ll assume it has something to do with the Opaleye egg, so you’ll decide to ask him about it after class

Once the class is over, you will approach Hagrid and ask him to tell you about what the Antipodean Opaleye means to him. Thankfully, he’ll agree to open up and tell you about it. You need to earn five stars within an hour to complete this task. All five stars are required to pass.

There are actions with bonus progress tied to Badeea and Hagrid. Prioritizing those actions should save you some energy.

Hagrid will admit that he is completely mesmerized by the Opaleye’s beauty. If you’ve adopted the Opaleye, you’ll remind Hagrid there’s one in the Magical Creatures Reserve. Unfortunately, he is usually too busy to visit it and gaze at its beauty. Following that, Hagrid will tell you that many artists have tried to capture the Opaleye’s beauty. However, those dragons are very difficult to paint since they are quite restless.

Shortly after, Hagrid will leave and take the egg to the Romanian Dragon Sanctuary. Badeea will say that she wants to do something to lift Hagrid’s spirits, and you’ll recall him saying he wishes he could gaze at the beauty of the Antipodean Opaleye every day. After thinking about it for a moment, you’ll suggest creating a painting of the Opaleye, which will more than likely make Hagrid happy.

Badeea will remind you of what Hagrid said earlier. There are three options for you to reply with. This choice won’t significantly impact the story, so feel free to pick the option you prefer.

In any case, to paint an Antipodean Opaleye, you will need a willing subject. If you’ve adopted the Opaleye in the Magical Creatures Reserve, you’ll tell Badeea about it. If you haven’t adopted the Opaleye yet, you’ll decide to find one and get to know it.

Your next task is to unlock the Antipodean Opaleye. You can find it in the Desert Dunes area of Magical Creatures Reserve. To adopt it, you will need 60 Red, 30 Blue, and 55 Yellow Notebooks. Also, your Magizoology level needs to be 8 or higher.

Given that this is no small number of notebooks, it might take you a while to collect everything you need. Luckily, this side quest is not time-limited, so you can take as long as you need to complete this task.

When you are done, go to the Desert Dunes area of Magical Creatures Reserve to meet with Badeea. She’ll tell you that she wasn’t able to get the Opaleye to come out of its cave. Needless to say, she needs to have a good view of the dragon in order to create a painting. Following that, you’ll approach the creature and wave at it. Moments later, the Opaleye will turn its attention to you.

Badeea will be surprised that you managed to draw the dragon’s attention so easily. She’ll take a look at the creature and say that it looks more beautiful than she imagined. There are three options to reply with. While this choice won’t significantly impact the story, it is somewhat recommended to avoid picking the third option.

Your friend will be determined to make the best painting she can, and hopefully, the painting will lift Hagrid’s spirits. Shortly after, Badeea will start painting, and she will ask you to try your best to keep Opaleye’s attention so she can get a good view of it. She’ll also say that you can feel free to describe the Opaleye’s features, hoping that it will inspire her and give her ideas.

Helping Badeea paint is your next task. You need to earn five stars within three hours to complete it. Three stars are required to pass.

There are bonus progress actions tied to the Opaleye and Badeea. Focus on those actions to save energy.

Thanks to your descriptions, Badeea will get some wonderful ideas. Unfortunately, you won’t manage to keep the dragon’s attention, and shortly after, it will fly away.

You’ll ask Badeea if she was able to finish the painting. She’ll show it to you and ask for your opinion. There are three options to choose from. This choice will be referenced later on, but it won’t affect the story much, so feel free to go with the option you prefer.

The choice you made when you were in the Care of Magical Creatures will affect some of the following lines of dialogue. In any case, you and Badeea will agree that the first painting was just a practice. Badeea will be determined to create a masterpiece, so the two of you will decide to follow the Opaleye and try again.

Go to the Burrow Orchard when you are ready to continue. Upon arriving, you will be able to interact with some of the characters and see what they have to say. Charlie will be glad to see you and Badeea, and you’ll tell him about your plan to create a painting of the Antipodean Opaleye as a gift to Hagrid. He’ll agree that it might be a good way to lift Hagrid’s spirits.

Charlie will find it hard to believe there’s a dragon in his orchard, and his mother won’t be too excited about it. She’ll be worried that the Opaleye might go after her chickens.

Charlie will smile and say that Opaleyes prefers eating sheep, and you’ll notice that he is incredibly happy about the dragon landing in his orchard. Mrs. Weasley will remind him that they have guests. If this is your first time meeting Molly Weasley, Charlie will introduce you. Otherwise, she will be happy to see you again.

You’ll tell her about your plan to paint a picture of the dragon. Thankfully, she will allow you to paint in her orchard. Suddenly, the Opaleye will get up, and Charlie will figure out it might be hungry. You’ll realize you can use food to keep the dragon’s attention long enough for Badeea to finish the painting.

However, to feed the Opaleye, you’ll need some food. There are three options to choose from. This choice won’t significantly impact the story, so feel free to pick the option you prefer.

Luckily, Mrs. Weasley will be kind enough to give you some slabs of beef to feed the dragon. You and Charlie will be feeding the dragon and keeping it occupied while Badeea paints. To complete this task, you need to earn five stars within three hours. Three stars are required to pass.

There are actions with bonus progress tied to your character and Charlie. Prioritize those actions to save energy.

eventually, you will run out of food for the Opaleye, and not long after that, it will fly away. Needless to say, Charlie will be quite sad about it. You’ll ask Badeea how the painting turned out. This time, she managed to create a nice portrait of a dragon, but she was still unable to capture its true beauty. Charlie will take a look at the painting and say that it looks absolutely stunning.

He’ll ask if he can keep the painting. Mrs. Weasley will remind him that it is a gift for Hagrid. However, Badeea will want to give Hagrid the best painting she can make, so she won’t mind letting Charlie keep the one she painted in the orchard. Charlie will be immensely happy after hearing that

Badeea will say that you need to find a way to keep the Opaleye occupied long enough for her to complete the painting. The following lines of dialogue will differ, depending on whether or not you leveled up the trust level of the Opaleye.

Your next task is to get level 4 trust with the Antipodean Opaleye. If you already leveled it up, this task will automatically be completed.

Go to the Forest Lake when you are done. When you arrive, you’ll find Barnaby and his Knarl gazing at the dragon, and apparently, they were taking a walk and saw the Opaleye by the lake. Barnaby will ask if you came to admire the dragon’s beauty, and you’ll tell him about your plan to make a painting of the Antipodean Opaleye for Hagrid. He will like your idea, but you will need to find a way to draw the creature’s attention.

If you completed Celestina’s New Groove adventure, you’ll recall that Barnaby sometimes sings to Knarl. If you haven’t completed that adventure, Barnaby will tell you he sometimes sings to Knarl.

You’ll ask Barnaby to sing for the Opaleye and get its attention. He will be up for it, but he will admit that he has never sung to a dragon before and will wonder what kind of music dragons like. There are three options for you to reply with. This choice won’t heavily impact the story, so feel free to pick the song you prefer.

Barnaby will then ask if you would like to sing with him. There are three options to choose from. If you like Barnaby, it is highly recommended to pick the first option.

Moments later, the singing will start. You need to earn five stars within eight hours to complete this task. All five stars are required to pass.

There are bonus progress actions linked to Barnaby, your character, and the Opaleye. Focus on those actions to save energy.

Badeea will say that the dragon was completely captivated by the singing. Unfortunately, the Opaleye will once again fly away. You’ll ask Badeea if she was able to finish the painting, and she will say that she managed to capture the dragon’s whole body. Sadly, she wasn’t able to complete the painting.

You’ll praise her work and say that she made a wonderful painting. Barnaby will also like it and ask Badeea to paint something for him someday. She’ll decide to give him the painting she made, and he’ll look forward to seeing the final masterpiece.

Badeea will admit she’s worried that she won’t be able to make a finished painting. After considering the situation for a moment, you will suggest gathering more information before trying again. You’ll decide to have a word with Hagrid and see if there is anything he knows that could help you. Before you go, Badeea will advise you to be careful with what you tell Hagrid. After all, you wouldn’t want to spoil the surprise.

Your task will be to visit Hagrid and talk to him about the Antipodean Opaleye. In the meantime, Badeea will try to find out where the dragon went.

Go to Hagrid’s hut when you are ready to continue. Hagrid will tell you he is already missing the dragon egg he left at the sanctuary. He’ll say he is worried that the other dragons might be mean to it. You’ll try your best to reassure him that everything is going to be all right. Thankfully, Hagrid will feel a bit better after hearing your words.

You’ll share with Hagrid that you faced difficulty in capturing Opaleye’s attention, and he’ll be more than willing to discuss it with you. You need to earn five stars within three hours to complete this task. Three stars are required to pass.

There are actions with bonus progress tied to Hagrid and the cauldron. Prioritize those actions to save energy.

You’ll learn that Opaleyes loves to fly and you’ll think about it for a moment and come up with the idea to embrace its instincts. Hagrid will tell you that Opaleyes look best when flying. He’ll then ask why you are trying to get the dragon to settle down. He’ll wonder if there’s anything you didn’t tell him. There are two options to reply with. This choice won’t change the story much, so feel free to pick the option you prefer.

Suddenly, Badeea will enter the hut and say that she found the Opaleye, so even if you went with the option, to tell the truth to Hagrid, she will interrupt you before you reveal anything. Moments later, you and Badeea will leave Hagrid’s hut.

Go to the training grounds when you are ready to continue.

You’ll inform Badeea about your plan to capture the Opaleye’s movement by painting it while it flies, and she’ll express confidence despite the challenge of painting a moving subject. When she asks about preventing the Opaleye from flying away, you’ll mention your intention to fly alongside the dragon on your broom.

Shortly after, Badeea will ask if you want to see the painting when she finishes it or wait until she reveals it to Hagrid. There are two options to choose from. This choice will affect the rest of the side quest. If you pick the first option, you will be able to see the painting before it is revealed to Hagrid. However, if you want to be thoughtful, it is recommended to wait until Hagrid sees it.

Moments later, you will get on your broom and start flying together with the Opaleye. You need to earn five stars within eight hours to complete this task. All five stars are required to pass.

There are bonus progress actions tied to your character and the Opaleye. Focus on those actions to save energy.

This time, Badeea will be able to finish the painting. She’ll tell you it is one of the best paintings she’s ever done. If you decided to take a look at the painting before it is revealed to Hagrid, Badeea will show it to you and you’ll be able to give her your opinion.

If you already reached the maximum level of trust with the Opaleye, Badeea and you’ll leave the place and go to Hagrid. Otherwise, she will advise you to spend some time with the Opaleye and bond with it. That way, the dragon can be there when you give the painting to Hagrid.

Your next task is to reach the maximum level of trust with Opaleye. This may take a while, but luckily, this side quest is not time-limited, so you can take as long as you need to finish this task.

When you are done, go to Hagrid’s garden to reveal the painting. Hagrid will be surprised to see the Opaleye in his garden. Moments later, Badeea will reveal the painting to him.

If you decided not to see the painting before it is revealed, Badeea will ask if you like it. There are three options to reply with. If you like Badeea, it is recommended to pick the first option.

Hagrid will be absolutely amazed by the painting. He’ll praise Badeea for making such a wonderful piece of art and she’ll admit that you helped her a lot. The choice you made when you saw the first painting will take effect here.

Shortly after, everyone will get to admire the painting for a while. You need to earn five stars within three hours to complete this task. All five stars are required to pass.

Make sure to slide the screen left and right to see all the available actions. There are bonus progress actions linked to Badeea, Fang, your character, and the painting. Prioritize those actions to save energy.

Hagrid will wholeheartedly thank you and Badeea for the wonderful gift and He’ll ask if the painting has a name. You will be able to choose one of three options for the name.

Shortly after, Allure of the Opaleye side quest will come to an end. Hit the Collect button to claim your rewards. You will receive 500 Experience Points and 200 Friendship Experience Points. You will earn some friendship experience with Hagrid for completing the quest.

What a lovely side quest. This time, instead of chasing Dark Witches and Wizards and solving mysteries of the Cursed Vaults, you got to appreciate the beauty of one of the most beautiful dragons in the world.

And more importantly, you gave Hagrid a wonderful gift as a thank you for all the hard work he’s doing for Hogwarts.
