Best Spells

Introduction

Hello everyone. Here is a guide on the best spells in the game. There are plenty of different spells in Hogwarts Legacy, and each of them serves a different purpose.

This guide will only cover spells that are used in combat, so spells like Reparo, Wingardium Leviosa, Revelio, and other non-combat spells won’t be included. Also, the guide won’t cover Protego or Stupefy since these are essential spells. Only the spells that can be placed in your spell sets and used in combat will be included in the guide.

10 – Accio

While this is a spell that is learned quite early in the game, it is useful throughout the whole playthrough. With a relatively short cooldown, it can be used together with Levioso to “juggle” enemies, which can be very powerful in certain situations. Also, its short cooldown will allow you to break purple shields on enemies more often. This is particularly helpful on hard difficulty.

9 – Expelliarmus

The Disarming Charm is quite a useful spell. It is learned pretty early in the game and deals decent damage to your target. The main power of Expelliarmus is when used against enemies that are carrying weapons. The spell will disarm them for a short period of time, which will prevent them from attacking you.

On top of that, if you have the Ancient Magic Throw Expertise talent, you can catch the disarmed enemy’s weapon and throw it back at the opponent for additional damage. Furthermore, if you have the Disarming Curse talent, each enemy you hit with Expelliarmus will become cursed. All things considered, this is an amazing spell.

8 – Diffindo

The Severing Charm is a spell that is immensely powerful. It fires a projectile that slices through your target and deals very high damage. If you talent it, the spell will also hit the enemies behind your target which makes it excellent when used against grouped-up opponents. The only downside is a slightly longer cooldown than some of the other damage spells.

7 – Confringo

You can learn the Blasting Curse relatively early in the game. This spell deals fairly good damage, has a short cooldown, long range, and deals fire damage, which can help you deal with enemies vulnerable to fire, such as Inferi. When talented, it will hit multiple targets, which makes it even more powerful.

6 – Bombarda

You will learn this spell midway through the game, and it is one of the most powerful area of effect spells in the game. If you set it up properly, you can obliterate groups of opponents that are tightly stacked together. The only downside is that the spell has a slightly longer cooldown when compared to other damage spells.

5 – Glacius

This spell freezes your target for a short period of time, making it vulnerable to the next spell you cast. In itself, Glacius doesn’t deal any damage, but the vulnerability effect it provides makes up for it. If you freeze a target and then cast some high-damage spell like Diffindo or Bombarda, you can easily take down all of the regular enemies and deal massive damage to tough opponents like Trolls or Dugbogs.

4 – Imperio

This Unforgivable Curse can be used to place an enemy under your control, essentially making it fight its allies. This can turn the tide of many battles, which makes Imperio pretty powerful. Also, it can even be used against some dangerous foes like trolls, which further increases its usefulness. On top of that, if you talent this spell, it will cause the enemy placed under your control to curse other opponents with its attacks.

3 – Avada Kedavra

There are no words to describe how powerful this spell is. You can annihilate a whole group of enemies with a single cast of Avada Kedavra if you properly set it up. When talented, this spell will eliminate all of the enemies that are suffering the cursed effect.

To top things off, it can even be used against some of the bosses, which will nearly trivialize those encounters. The only reason this Unforgivable Curse is not number one on the list is the fact that you learn it very late in the game, and by the time you unlock it, you’ll be done with most of the main story of the game.

2 – Transformation Spell

This spell is incredibly powerful, especially when talented. It will turn your target into an explosive barrel you can throw into another enemy, essentially eliminating two of them.

On top of that, you’ll learn this spell midway through the game, so you’ll be able to use it a lot. The only downside of this spell is a somewhat long cooldown, but it is nowhere near the cooldown time of Avada Kedavra.

1 – Crucio

This Unforgivable Curse is often underestimated. When you cast it, your target will start screaming in excruciating pain, and won’t be able to do anything for a long period of time.

If you talent it, whenever you hit the enemy affected by Crucio, it will automatically apply the cursed effect on another nearby enemy, which is one of the easiest ways of setting up for Avada Kedavra or Transformation Spell explosive barrel (if you have the Blood Curse talent).

Also, like the other two Unforgivable Curses, Crucio will instantly break any shield the enemy has, making it exceptionally useful against tough enemies that are shielded. Unlike Avada Kedavra, Crucio doesn’t have too long cooldown time, so you can use it pretty often. On top of that, you can learn Crucio fairly early in the game, which makes it very useful. All things considered, you definitely don’t want to miss out on this spell.

These are some of the best spells in the game. Hopefully, you found this guide helpful. Thank you for reading and see you soon with more guides for Hogwarts Legacy.
