Chapter 4 – Monkey Business

Introduction

Hello everyone, welcome to our Walkthrough for Chapter Four of Beyond Hogwarts: Volume One of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. During the previous chapter, you met your new boss, Crescent Flump, and he introduced you to your new workstation.

Later, you’ve met your friends and you’ve found out that Merula changed a lot of different jobs and she’s currently working at Three Broomsticks. Lastly, you and Badeea discovered that a cursed Muggle artifact appeared in your flat that annoys your neighbors with a loud noise. Your landlord is very unhappy because of this.

Go to the ROCC Laboratory to continue the story. Once you are there, you can check what your fellow coworkers have to say by tapping on the speech bubbles above their heads. You will meet with Olivia. She will introduce you to the ROCC Laboratory.

Olivia will be interested to hear more about what happened so far. To recap your progress, you need to earn five stars within one hour. All five stars are required to pass.

There is one bonus progress action and it’s tied to your character. Prioritize this action to save a bit of energy.

You will point out that life outside Hogwarts was full of surprises. You have a new flat, a new job, and a new boss. Olivia will ask you how you feel after so much change. This choice will affect some dialogue later but it won’t change the overall story, so feel free to choose the option you like.

You will mention to her that your boss is not an easy person to work for.

Your friend will ask you if you think there is some good in Flump. If you like your boss pick the first option.

Olivia will be glad that things are going swimmingly for you, so far. The following line of dialogue will differ based on your previous choice.

She will remind you that the excitement will only grow when you get your first case. You will say that actually, you got one already. You’ll explain that when you return to your flat, you’ve found a loud Chimp Muggle Toy. Surprisingly, Olivia will know about this toy.

She won’t talk about it but she’ll advise you to check in with Flump on the details.

Before you can meet with your boss, there is a waiting time of two hours.

Once the waiting time is over, go to your Workspace to meet Flump. The boss will criticize you for leaving Chimp Toy on your desk.

He will confirm that this is your first case in ROCC. He will reluctantly accept to give you more info about the Toy Chimp. To complete the next task, you need to earn five stars within three hours. Three stars are required to pass.

There is plenty of bonus progress actions. It’s better to focus on your character and the Chimp Toy. Flump has an action with bonus progress as well, but it’s available less often.

You will discover that the Toy Chimp is a cursed Muggle toy that won’t stop clanging its cymbals unless you un-curse it. Some witch or wizard curses and scatter them all over the world.

Flump will point out that this case is a rare occasion and when one surfaces, it’s randomly assigned to one recruit. It’s the hardest case with the lowest solve rate.

He will mention that everyone gets a different case of varying difficulty, completely random. You can respond in two different ways. This choice won’t have a significant impact on the story, so feel free to choose the option you like.

Flump will tell you that this test is meant to separate the elite from the great. If you succeed, you may have an illustrious career in the ROCC. But if you fail on the other hand…

He will explain that each test carries its own unique stakes, although yours is the only one that carries a penalty of unemployment. You can reply in three different ways. Feel free to choose the option you like.

Flump will hope you don’t fail because he doesn’t want extra paperwork.

Go to the Ministry All-Purpose Room to continue the story. Once you are there, you can tap on the speech bubbles to hear what other agents have to say. After some difficulties hearing you because of your Muggle Toy, Tonks will ask you how things are going for you. The last time you two spoke, you had no idea what you were doing at work.

You will tell her that things have changed. You’ve got your first Magical Maintenance assignment, still not very skillfully covering ROCC’s secrets in front of her. You’ll also tell her that if you can’t figure out how to clean it up, you will be fired. The following line of dialogue will differ based on your choice in the previous chapter.

Tonks will ask you if your Chimp Toy has anything to do with your assignment. If you want to be careful about ROCC’s secrets, choose the first option.

Shortly after, your ROCC coworker Ruby will arrive. You will introduce your coworker to Tonks.

Ruby will have some news to share. To learn the news, you need to earn five stars within three hours. All five stars are required to pass.

There is only one bonus progress and it’s tied to Ruby. Prioritize this action to save a bit of energy.

You’ve found out that Ruby already solved her case.

She will even mention that she did it in a record time. Of course, she used Magical Maintenence terminology to cover ROCC secrets in front of Tonks. If you like Ruby, it is recommended to choose the second option and avoid the third option.

Your coworker will reassure you that you will solve your case as well. Tonks will express that she can’t take the noise from the Chimp toy any longer. According to her, this toy is less of a gift and more of a prank. This will give you an idea.

Go to Zonko’s Joke Shop when you are ready to continue. Once you are there, if you are curious about what customers have to say, tap on the speech bubbles above their heads.

You will meet with good old Bilton.

His shop will be full of returning Hogwarts students. You will ask Bilton for help. You’ll explain that you received a gift from a friend, but it seems to be some sort of prank. Once you show him the Chimp Toy and the toy starts clanging, he will be dismayed.

He will decide to explain everything about that awful monkey. To hear him out, you need to earn five stars within eight hours. Three stars are required to pass.

Bonus progress actions are tied to Bilton. Prioritize actions tied to him to save some energy. Don’t forget to slide the screen left and right to check all available actions.

You will find out that Bilton had a similar Toy Chimp accidentally delivered to Zonko’s. He was trying to send it back, but the toy will always return to the shop. Customers didn’t like that.

He couldn’t get rid of the cursed artifact, but one day, out of the blue, a wizard he’d never seen before arrived at Zonko’s and he asked for the monkey toy.

Bilton gave him the cursed toy and since then he never saw the blasted chimp again until now. Since the toy doesn’t have batteries or levers, Bilton will advise you to use a spell. He will ask you what could be effective against it. Feel free to choose the option you like. This option will slightly influence the story, but not too much.

Cast the spell you chose.

If you cast Immobulus or Incarcerous, you will succeed in stopping the monkey. If you’ve used Bombarda, the toy will prove indestructible. In that case, Bilton will keep the toy and close the shop for a day, so you can focus on solving the problem in silence.

The dialogue will differ based on your choice of spell and if you believe you’ve solved the case.

Either way, you will decide to return to your flat. Before that, you will have a waiting time of four hours. It is recommended to wait since you will probably be low on energy at this point.

Once the waiting time is over, go to your Flat. Once you are there, you will speak with your neighbor and friend, Badeea. Depending on the spell you use, you will either tell her how you’ve solved the case or you will explain that you haven’t yet and Bilton kept the toy.

Badeea will be very glad that there is no more constant clattering. She’ll want to tell you what’s going on in her life. To catch up with Badeea, you need to earn five stars within three hours. All five stars are required to pass.

There is one bonus progress action and it’s tied to Badeea. Prioritize this action to save a bit of energy.

Suddenly, the peace and quiet will be broken. Depending on your spell from the previous task, the monkey will start making noise again or he will suddenly appear if you left it at Zonko’s after Bombarda.

Badeea will notice that the Chimp Toy is even louder than ever before. The notice will appear near the door.

It’s from your landlord and it is an eviction notice because the toy monkey has received too many noise complaints. You can react to this situation in three different ways. This choice will influence some dialogue later, but it won’t make a huge impact on the overall story, so feel free to choose the option you prefer.

You’ll realize that you must solve this case.

Now that you have completed the story, you can start mandatory and optional chapter tasks. You need to complete two mandatory chapter tasks and one optional chapter task to unlock the next chapter. When you complete one optional task, the other one becomes unavailable.

Go to the Ministry Office when you are ready.

Mad-Eye will tell you that, to keep your cover as an employee in Magical Maintenance, you need to be seen performing your duties. In other words, you’ll need to clean up messes all over the Ministry of Magic.

You’ll need to complete several objectives to finish this mandatory chapter task. Feel free to do them in any order you prefer.

While doing these objectives, it is recommended to select the duration that matches their star requirements.

Prioritize actions with bonus progress whenever they are available.

Try your best to complete all of the mini-tasks to earn some additional attribute points.

Once you complete all of the tasks, hit the Collect button and return to the Ministry Office.

After you complete all the objectives, you can claim the reward in the ROCC Division section of the Wizarding Life tab.

Next, go to the brand new location in the game, Reserve Garden. You can access it in the Magical Creatures Reserve. This location will have repeatable tasks where you can earn Food for Magical Creatures, similar to the Artefact Room in Hogwarts.

You will find out that Hagrid built this place a couple of weeks ago.

He’ll explain that this place is for gathering food for Magical Creatures since you can’t look around Hogwarts now when you are not a student anymore. Hagrid will go to feed a pup, meanwhile, you could explore the place.

You can always save some energy during these tasks by focusing on actions that give you bonus progress.

Once you finish both mandatory chapter tasks, you can choose between optional chapter tasks. You can choose between exploring the ROCC Division or sorting mail for the Ministry. You will receive 400 Coins and 2500 Experience Points.
