Chapter 6 – A Window Of Opportunity
Introduction
Hello everyone, welcome to our Walkthrough for Chapter Six of Year Seven of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. During the previous chapter, you traveled to the Ministry of Magic using the Floo Powder. Upon arriving, you were greeted by Eric Munch, a Watchwizard of the Ministry. Given that you were delayed by Mad-Eye Moody, you didn’t arrive in time to pick up your credentials. Because of that, Mr. Munch couldn’t let you enter the Ministry.
Thankfully, Bill and Arthur Weasley arrived just in time, and they convinced Mr. Munch to let you in. After that, you had to visit several different places until you were finally directed to Wilkie Twycross, who gave you your credentials and informed you that Mad-Eye Moody requested you in Auror’s office. Needless to say, you were thrilled to finally get the opportunity to work under Mad-Eye Moody.

Now is the time to continue where you left off. Once you start the chapter, you can focus on completing the assignments first. Proceed to the Ministry Office when you are ready. The first assignment involves helping Amelia Bones. Upon entering the office, she will inform you that she needs your help with an urgent matter.
She’ll say that she volunteered to organize a party for the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. Sadly, she had no idea that planning a party could be a very demanding task. Thankfully, you know a thing or two about organizing parties.
Madam Bones will be glad to hear that. By the looks of it, you will have to do a lot of work to ensure that the party is properly organized. To finish this assignment, you will need to complete several tasks. You can feel free to do them in any order you prefer.
While doing these tasks, it is recommended to select the duration that matches their stars requirements.
Similar to the regular tasks, prioritize bonus progress actions to save as much energy as possible.
Every time you earn a star, you will get a mini-task. Complete it successfully to earn some extra attribute points.
Return to the Ministry Office once you complete all of the tasks.
You’ll happily inform Madam Bones that all the preparations are done. She’ll commend you for your work and thank you for helping her with preparations.
Proceed to the Ministry Office once you are ready for the second assignment. Mad-Eye Moody will say that you have some potential.
You’ll ask him if he thinks you are fit for the job of Auror. He will tell you that you are not yet ready for it. However, Mad-Eye will admit that you probably have what it takes to become an Auror. Because of that, he arranged some field training for you. You’ll wonder if that will involve going after some Dark witches and wizards. Sadly, your assignment will be ‘slightly’ less exciting.
Like before, you can feel free to complete the tasks in any order you want.
As for the tasks themselves, selecting the duration that matches their stars requirements is highly recommended.
Prioritize doing bonus progress actions whenever they are available, in order to save some energy.
As for the mini-tasks, completing them successfully will grant you some bonus attribute points.
Return to the Ministry Office once you complete all of the tasks.
Mad-Eye Moody will be impressed by your dedication.
He will say that with a bit more training, you would make a fine Auror.
Now that you’re done with the assignments, you can proceed to the Ministry of Magic to continue the story. Upon arriving, you will be able to interact with some of the characters and see what they have to say. Tonks and you will happily greet Mad-Eye Moody, eager to start your first Ministry of Magic assignment with the Auror Office.
You’ll be very curious to know what your assignment is. Tonks will be noticeably excited. You will wonder if the assignment is somehow related to Auror training. Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to be the case.
Mad-Eye will ask if you’re acquainted with Eric Munch, and both you and Tonks will make it clear that you’ve met Mr. Munch.
Mad-Eye will kindly ask Tonks to tone down her enthusiasm and explain that Aurors have to be vigilant and aware of their surroundings. You will smile and say that you definitely know how to be vigilant. Tonks will immediately ‘switch’ to constant vigilance.
Mad-Eye will ask if the two of you are up for the task, and once again, you will show you’re eager to start the assignment. He will explain that your first assignment will involve registering visitors’ wands with Mr. Munch.
Needless to say, that definitely wasn’t what you were expecting. Mad-Eye will notice a trace of disappointment in your look, and he’ll ask if there’s anything wrong with registering wands. There are two options to reply with. This choice won’t have any big impact on the story, so feel free to pick whichever option you prefer.
Mad-Eye Moody will explain that everyone needs to start somewhere, and you’ll nod and agree that he’s right about it. Before leaving, he will ask you to keep an eye out, in case his suspicions about ‘R’ are correct.
You’ll assure Mad-Eye Moody that you’ll do your best to stay vigilant, and he’ll remind you not to tell anyone else if you see anything out of the ordinary. You’ll promise to do as he asks. Shortly after, Mad-Eye Moody leaves, and Mr. Munch instructs Tonks and you on how to register visitors’ wands.
Moments later, your assignment will start. Registering wands requires earning five stars within an hour. Three stars are needed to pass.
Be sure to slide the screen left and right to see all the available actions. The only bonus progress action here is linked to your character, so prioritize your actions if you want to save a bit of energy.
Once you are done, you will report to Mr. Munch.
He’ll nod and inform you that your next assignment is in the Portkey Office. You’ll be surprised to hear that, and Mr. Munch will simply tell you to look for Arthur Weasley and ask him for any further instructions. Both you and Tonks will thank him before leaving the place.
You’ll have to wait three hours before you’re able to continue. Since you will probably be low on energy at this point, it is recommended to wait and let your energy recharge in the meantime.
Head to the Portkey Office once the waiting time is over. Upon arriving, you will notice Arthur Weasley staring at the windows. More importantly, you will see a huge storm outside.
Mr. Weasley will happily greet you and say that something is definitely wrong with the windows. Under normal circumstances, they are supposed to only display sunny weather, and Tonks will make a funny remark on the whole situation.
Arthur will inquire if she is Nymphadora Tonks, expressing apologies for his distraction due to the window issue. She’ll nod, requesting him to call her ‘Tonks’. You’ll inform Mr. Weasley that Mr. Munch directed you to him. Arthur will nod, mentioning his plan to introduce you to Portkeys. You’ll share that you have prior experience with Portkeys. Following that, he’ll proceed to provide more information about them.
Learning more about Portkeys requires earning five stars within eight hours. All five stars are needed to pass.
There are bonus progress actions linked to Mr. Weasley and the windows. Prioritize those if you are looking to save some energy.
Arthur will confess that the stormy weather displayed by the windows is making it hard for him to concentrate. He’ll decide to alter your assignment, assigning you the task of fixing the windows instead of learning about Portkeys. You’ll question his certainty about the change. Arthur will confirm, stating that no one in the Ministry can focus on work while facing hurricanes. He’ll be confident that Mad-Eye won’t object to the change of plans.
You’ll assure Arthur that you won’t disappoint him. Tonks will express confidence that both of you can handle fixing the windows. Arthur will be pleased to hear this and suggest you speak to someone in the Magical Maintenance department. Tonks will wonder whether you should be straightforward or use flattery when dealing with the Magical Maintenance team. This choice will influence some of the dialogue later on, but it won’t change the story significantly.
Arthur will wish you good luck before you depart from the office. Additionally, he’ll request that you relay a message to Charlie, asking him to visit the office later and have lunch with the meal his mother sent him.
Proceed to the Ministry of Magic once you’re ready to continue. When you arrive, you will notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you are interested to see what they have to say. Both you and Tonks will cheerfully greet your friends.
She’ll inform them that you and her were assigned the task of fixing the hurricane windows. Barnaby will express surprise upon hearing this. Ben will find the matter intriguing and offer his assistance, to which you’ll reply that you’re in a hurry. Tonks will remind you that six heads are better than two and suggest discussing the windows with your friends.
Barnaby will show enthusiasm for discussing the windows, and eventually, you will agree to brainstorm with them. Talking about the windows requires earning five stars within three hours. Three stars are needed for it to pass.
Make sure to slide the screen left and right to see all the available actions. There is a bonus progress action tied to your character, so focus on your actions if you want to save a bit of energy.
Tonks will mention that last time something similar happened to the windows, Magical Maintenance wanted a pay raise.
Barnaby will recall his Uncle Cecil mentioning that during that time, all the enchanted windows were messed up. You’ll express interest in Barnaby’s uncle and inquire about him. Barnaby will share that his uncle has been working tirelessly without a day off for over two years. The following lines will differ, based on whether or not you’ve met Cecil Lee before.
You will inquire if Barnaby’s uncle is knowledgeable about the previous incident with the enchanted windows, and he will confirm that it was the Werewolf Capture Unit that sent him to discuss it with Magical Maintenance. You’ll then request to speak with his uncle about the windows, and Barnaby enthusiastically agrees to take you to him. Tonks will mention that she plans to go to Magical Maintenance, aiming to cover more ground.
You’ll then get to visit Cecil Lee with Barnaby. The following task doesn’t involve spending any energy, which is why it’s recommended to visit Cecil as soon as possible. Cecil will be very glad to see his nephew.
This will make poor Barnaby slightly confused.
You’ll quickly explain the meaning of the words his uncle said.
The following lines of dialogue will differ, based on whether you completed the Halloween Feast adventure or not.
You will explain to Mr. Lee the reason for your visit to the Ministry of Magic and mention that Mr. Weasley requested your assistance in fixing the enchanted windows. Cecil will assume that you’re interested in discussing the Werewolf Capture Unit.
You’ll clarify that you want to talk about the enchanted windows and Magical Maintenance. Mr. Lee will consider it and express his willingness to share his experience with Magical Maintenance.
However, he will request to witness a duel between you and Barnaby in return. He’ll mention that he wants to assess whether both of you have the skills required to join the Werewolf Capture Unit. Recognizing the fairness of his request, you’ll agree to proceed with the duel.
The task window will display the recommended attribute levels as well as the cost of the duel. Hit Start once you’re ready to begin.
The difficulty of this duel will depend mostly on your attribute levels. If you rushed through the story and didn’t take the time to level up your attributes, you could be at a disadvantage here. In that case, it is recommended to try using spells with damage-over-time components, like Incendio. With some luck, you should be able to win the duel. Bear in mind that winning this duel is not required to advance the story.
The following lines of dialogue will differ, based on the outcome of the duel.
Cecil will express admiration for both you and Barnaby after the duel. You’ll inquire about the previous incident when the enchanted windows malfunctioned. He’ll recount that the windows in his office were displaying stormy weather, disrupting his concentration. To address the issue, he took the initiative to visit Magical Maintenance.
You’ll ask if he had any trouble recently with the enchanted windows in his office. According to Cecil, the windows in his office were displaying clear skies all day. He’ll also mention that it’s the perfect weather for hunting werewolves.
Cecil will ask if you know why that’s the case. There are three options to reply with. None of these will ‘correctly’ answer his question, so feel free to go with whichever option you prefer.
Mr. Lee will explain that werewolves are weaker in bright sunlight. You’ll be quite sure that’s not the case. Still, Cecil will be very confident that bright sunlight has a weakening effect on werewolves. After all, he learned that from none other than Gilderoy Lockhart.
In any case, you’ll find it very strange that only the Portkey Office has a problem with the enchanted windows. Perhaps that might be a clue. You’ll decide to talk to Magical Maintenance and solve the enchanted window mystery.
You will have to wait four hours until you can continue. Since you will likely be low on energy at this point, it is recommended to wait and let your energy replenish in the meantime.
Head to the All-Purpose Room once the waiting time is over. Upon arriving, you will be able to interact with some of the characters by tapping on the speech bubbles above them. You will quickly notice that the hurricane windows have spread to the All-Purpose Room.
On top of that, the gloomy atmosphere will make it difficult for everyone to work. Ben will ask if you could provide an explanation. You will quickly fill him in and say that Barnaby’s uncle had clear skies all day in his office. Needless to say, the situation got a lot stranger. One Ministry employee will agree with you on that. You will ask if he’s with the Magical Maintenance Department.
He’ll nod and politely introduce himself as Reginald Cattermole.
You will also introduce yourself and Ben and say that you are Hogwarts students visiting the Ministry of Magic. The following few lines of dialogue will differ, based on whether you decided to be straightforward with Magical Maintenance or flatter them.
Reginald will react much better if you’ve picked the ‘flatter’ option.
Either way, he will explain that the window in the All-Purpose Room is the ‘master’ window, and it controls all the enchanted windows in the Ministry. You’ll ask if you could have a look at the enchanted windows. Reginald will tell you that they already tried nearly every spell they could think of to fix the window. Still, he won’t forbid you from taking a look at the windows.
Investigating the windows requires earning five stars within eight hours. All five stars are needed to pass.
There is a bonus progress action linked to your character. Prioritize your actions if you want to save some energy.
After inspecting the windows, you will figure out that they are most likely cursed in some way. Ben will agree with you and say that he thought the same. On top of that, the spell that was used to affect the windows is a very complex one. That would certainly explain why no one was able to reverse the effects of the spell. Still, there is a question that will instantly come to your mind: who could be responsible for cursing the enchanted windows? Ben will point out some possibilities.
He will ask if you have any theory about it. There are three options to choose from. In any case, since there’s no solid evidence yet, it’s somewhat recommended to go with the third option.
Either way, the culprit has access to the Ministry.
In any case, you will decide to solve the mystery and break the curse.
With this, Chapter 6 of Year 7 will come to an end. Hit the Collect button to claim your rewards. You will receive 350 Coins and 2000 Experience Points.
Just when you thought you were done with the curse-breaking adventures, another curse appeared. What will you do about it? Will you discover who was responsible for cursing the enchanted windows? Find out in the next chapter of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery.
