A Strange Silence After Christmas

December 10th carried an unusual stillness.

After the warmth and chaos of the previous day — enchanted crackers exploding in rainbow sparks, the Great Hall glowing with floating constellations, laughter echoing through stone — Hogwarts felt… muted.

As if the castle itself paused to listen.

Every hallway shimmered with a thin layer of frost that hadn’t been there yesterday. Torches flickered with bluish flame. And the portraits whispered, not in gossip, but in unease.

Everyone felt it.

A shift.
A thinning in the air.

Something crossed into Hogwarts on Christmas night.

And it wasn’t done.

The Return to the Courtyard

Eira returned to the courtyard where the Oathmark had appeared the night before — half-formed, pulsing, demanding choice.

Except now…

It was gone.

Not erased.

Moved.

Snow was disturbed in a deliberate spiral, leading toward the northern cloisters. And beneath each footprint-shaped distortion, faint runic dust glowed silver.

Someone — or something — was guiding Eira.

Your breath fogged the air as you followed the trail, each step colder than the last.

Winterlight Appears

At the end of the path stood a figure made entirely of light and frost.

Not a ghost.
Not a person.

A manifestation.

A tall, human-shaped silhouette shimmering with pale blue magic, its edges dissolving into snowflakes. When it turned its faceless head toward Eira, the temperature dropped so sharply her teeth ached.

But she felt no fear.

Only recognition.

This was the presence she had sensed ever since Day 1.

The whisper behind the walls.
The pulse in the parchment.
The watcher in the Chamber of Echoes.

Winterlight.

The ancient guardian spirit of the castle’s forgotten traditions — a being invoked only during lost winter rituals that no one performed anymore.

And now it stood before her.

The Message Hidden in Light

A soft hum vibrated through the cloister stones.

Winterlight extended an arm — if it could be called that — and the air folded, revealing an image woven entirely from frost:

A circle of witches and wizards standing in the snow…
Hands joined…
Wands raised toward a brilliant winter star…
Reciting:

Eira recognized the phrase.

It was the missing half of the Oath you saw in Day 9.

But then the vision distorted — splintering into flashes:

A breached barrier.
A fracture running through enchanted stone.
A light fading.
And a shadow entering Hogwarts through the crack.

Winterlight pulsed urgently.

It wasn’t just showing her the past.

It was warning her about the present.

A Token Left in the Snow

The spirit dissolved into a swirl of frost, leaving something on the ground where it stood:

A small, perfectly preserved snowflake — glowing white-blue, floating just above her palm when her picked it up.

Cold didn’t burn.
It comforted.

This was The Winterlight Veil, a protective charm of the old Oath rituals — a key used to reveal hidden paths and sealed histories.

As it melted into your skin, lines of silver briefly appeared on your palm, forming a single, ancient rune:

SÆLD.

Your path for Day 11 was set.

Winterlight had given you its trust.
And its burden.
