Energy Optimization Guide

Introduction

Welcome to our Energy Optimization Guide for Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery. Energy is one of the key resources in the game, and understanding how to use it efficiently can significantly improve your progress.

Energy is primarily used for two types of activities: Story Tasks/Quests and Classes/Lessons. Each has different mechanics, and this guide will explain how to optimize energy usage for both.

Story Tasks

Story tasks are found in the Story section of each chapter and have durations of one, three, or eight hours. To complete them, you must earn a required number of stars by tapping on highlighted objects to perform actions. Each action costs energy and contributes “progress points” to the star meter.

Optimizing Story Task Energy Usage

  • Each action awards progress points equal to its energy cost, except for 5-energy actions, which award 6 progress points (20% extra efficiency).
  • Prioritize 5-energy actions when possible to maximize efficiency.
  • Unlike classes, excess progress points carry over to the next star but are wasted after the fifth star.
  • Be mindful of the final action—if you only need 2 progress points to finish a task but use a 4-energy action, the extra 2 energy will be wasted.

When to Let Story Tasks Expire

Some tasks require only one star to pass and offer minimal rewards (usually coins). In such cases, letting the task expire after earning a few stars can help conserve energy:

  • One-hour tasks: Spend 15 energy to earn 2-3 stars, then wait for the timer to expire. This allows you to regenerate the 15 energy spent by the time the task ends.
  • Three-hour tasks: Completing all five stars costs around 55-60 energy. If you start with a full energy bar of 36, you can regenerate 45 energy over three hours. Instead of finishing the task completely, it may be better to spend only 45 energy (around 4 stars) and let it expire to avoid depleting your energy reserves.
  • Eight-hour tasks: These should almost always be completed fully, as they often provide more valuable rewards.

Important Considerations

  • Only let tasks expire if there’s no waiting time before the next task.
  • If a task rewards Attributes or House Points, complete all stars for maximum benefits.
  • If you’re close to leveling up, finishing the task is better to get a full energy refill.

Classes and Lessons

Classes and lessons function differently from story tasks:

  • Classes can be taken anytime and require only one star to pass.
  • Lessons are required to progress through the game and often require all stars.
  • Completing a star in a class triggers three stages:
    1. Spending energy to fill the star meter.
    2. Choosing one of three rewards.
    3. Completing a mini-task (question, focus, or tracing).

Optimizing Energy Usage in Classes and Lessons

  • 5-energy actions still provide 6 progress points and should be prioritized.
  • Unlike story tasks, excess energy spent is refunded if it exceeds the requirement for earning a star.
  • If you are only 1 progress point away from a star but complete a 5-energy action (which grants 6 points), you will receive all 5 energy back.
  • This refund system ensures that no energy is wasted, making it ideal to always use the highest-cost action available when nearing a star.

Summary

  1. Prioritize 5-energy actions whenever possible.
  2. Monitor progress points in story tasks to avoid wasting energy.
  3. Let tasks expire strategically if the rewards are low and no waiting time follows.
  4. Use energy refunds in classes to maximize efficiency.
  5. Complete all stars for lessons and tasks with valuable rewards.
  6. Level-ups provide full energy refills, so plan accordingly.

By following these strategies, you can optimize your energy usage and progress more efficiently through Hogwarts Mystery. Happy Curse-Breaking adventures! see you soon!
