Fairy Tale Side Quest

Introduction

Hello everyone, welcome to our Walkthrough for the Fairy Tale Side Quest of Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery. This quest is available for students of all years, but in order to unlock it, you need to have Magizoology at level 2.

During this quest, you’ll be able to help Hagrid with a problem and eventually, you’ll get the chance to add him to your list of friends. Once you unlock the quest, head to the Magical Creatures Reserve to meet Hagrid.

After greeting him, he’ll tell you that Professor Snape is planning to harvest the wings from some of the Fairies in his garden. You have three options to respond with. Each one will lead to the same outcome, so you can feel free to pick the one you prefer.

Hagrid will tell you he wants to relocate the Fairies to the Magical Creatures Reserve, but for some reason, they don’t listen to him.

You’ll quickly offer your assistance and then you’ll help him come up with a plan. This requires earning five stars within an hour. Only one star is needed to pass.

If you are looking to earn some additional rewards, it is recommended to fully complete this task. There are bonus progress actions tied to Hagrid and your character. Prioritize those actions to save energy.

Once you are done, you’ll suggest working with another Fairy to determine the best way of persuading the ones in Hagrid’s garden to move.

Before you’re able to proceed, you’ll need to adopt a Fairy. Doing so requires having 30 Red Notebooks, so bear that in mind. Luckily, the side quest is not time-limited, so you don’t need to rush this task.

Once you have the Fairy, proceed to the Care of Magical Creatures. Upon arriving, you’ll introduce your Fairy to Hagrid.

Unfortunately, your Fairy won’t be particularly fond of him.

Thankfully, Hagrid will be able to practice on your Fairy in order to convince the other ones to leave his garden.

He’ll ask for your opinion regarding how to approach it and you have three options to choose from. While all of these will lead to the same outcome, your Fairy will react best to flattery, so it is somewhat recommended to select the second option.

If you choose this option, your Fairy will happily buzz after hearing Hagrid’s compliments.

You’ll then need to work with your Fairy for a bit to help Hagrid polish his persuasive methods. Doing so requires earning five stars within three hours.

Like always, put your priority on completing bonus progress actions. This way, you’ll save some energy and complete the task faster. There is one such action linked to Hagrid.

Once you’re done, you’ll decide to study Fairies some more before convincing the ones in Hagrid’s garden to move.

In order to do that, you’ll need to obtain 150 Knowledge points. This can be done by completing any of the classes. Potions, Transfiguration, and History of Magic will obviously be the most optimal choice.

The best course of action is doing 8-hour History of Magic classes if you are a Year 5 student. Otherwise, the next best option is to go with Potions. With 8-hour classes, you are guaranteed to get 50 Knowledge points from finishing the class, and you can get another 50 by doing all the mini-tasks successfully.

With a bit of luck, you’ll get the remaining 50 from the rewards after earning each of the stars. If not, be sure to also feed all of your max-level creatures since there is a chance you can get some Knowledge points by doing that. And also, there is an easy way of simply purchasing any of the cosmetic items that reward Knowledge points.

Once you’re done obtaining those, proceed to the Training Grounds to meet with Hagrid.

As it turns out, Professor Snape was already at Hagrid’s hut, so your friend was forced to make an early move to relocate the Fairies.

For the most part, he was successful and he managed to relocate almost all of them.

But one of the Fairies was startled and went towards the castle. Hagrid will be desperate to find it, and he’ll hope that you and your Fairy can help him.

Looking for the missing Fairy is a three-hour task with a passing requirement of five stars. Because of this, avoid starting it if your energy is low.

There are actions with bonus progress tied to Hagrid, your Fairy, and your character. Prioritize them to save energy.

Once you’re done, Penny will arrive and she’ll tell you she saw a Fairy in the Potions Classroom.

You’ll ask her for help with rescuing the Fairy, but Penny will be hesitant to do so. You have three options to try and convince her. Each of those will work, but if you like Penny, it is recommended to pick the third choice.

You’ll also decide to bring your Fairy along to make the missing one feel more comfortable. Hagrid will suggest that you spend some time bonding with your Fairy before you proceed.

Before you are able to continue, you need to reach a maximum level of trust with your Fairy.

This could take a while, but simply make sure to feed it and bond with it regularly, and eventually, you’ll complete this task.

Next, you need to go to the Potions classroom to rescue the missing Fairy.

Shortly after arriving, you’ll notice it buzzing around some potion ingredients.

The plan is pretty straightforward. You’ll distract Snape while Penny and your Fairy convince the missing one to follow you back to the Magical Creatures Reserve.

Moments later, the two of you will approach Snape, and Penny will come up with an excuse to ask for his permission to search the classroom.

Luckily, Snape will allow it, so now the only thing left is for you to distract him long enough.

You’ll tell the Professor you have a question for him. There are three options to choose from. These will result in different dialogue lines, but the general outcome will be the same, so pick whichever one you want.

You’ll then get to distract Snape while Penny and your Fairy try to convince the missing Fairy to leave the castle. Doing so requires earning five stars within eight hours.

There is a bonus progress action tied to Professor Snape. Prioritize it if you want to save some energy. Also, there are some hilarious lines of dialogue after completing actions, so be sure to check them out.

Shortly after you’re done, the Professor will be so annoyed by your questions that he’ll leave the classroom.

Luckily, Penny will be able to hide both Fairies just in time. Once Snape leaves, she’ll explain to you how she managed to do that.

Now, all that’s left is releasing the Fairy at the Magical Creatures Reserve. Proceed there when you are ready.

Hagrid will be overjoyed to see you arriving with Fairies by your side.

Not long after that, you’ll get to release the Fairy. To do so, you need to obtain five stars within three hours. All five stars are required to pass, so avoid starting this task with an empty energy bar.

There are bonus progress actions tied to your character and one of the fairies. Prioritize those if you want to save some energy.

When you finish the task, you’ll notice that the Fairy is happily buzzing around.

Hagrid will be overjoyed seeing that. He’ll praise your creature-caring skills. You have two options to reply with. Both will lead to a similar outcome, so pick the one you prefer.

He’ll also say that he’s glad he can count on your help for creature-related problems.

And even the Fairy will happily buzz to that.

With this, Fairy Tale side quest will come to an end. Hit the Collect button to claim your rewards. You will receive 150 Experience points.

This will add Hagrid to your list of friends and it will also give you 100 friendship experience points with him, which will be enough to increase his friendship level to 2.

This will also unlock some creature-related side quests in the future, and those will help you level up his friendship even further.
