HP Hogwarts Mystery Lessons Year 1
Charms
Hello everyone, welcome to our Charms section for Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery – Year One. Here you can find information about all the Charms you can learn in Year One of your Hogwarts studies. Each lesson comes with a detailed explanation of how, when, and where to learn it, as well as some of its applications in the game.

Expelliarmus is the second spell you will learn in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, in year one chapter four. You had some problems defending yourself against Merula Snyde so you asked Professor Flitwick for help. He said he will agree to teach you a spell but only if you don’t use it carelessly.

Expelliarmus is also known as the Disarming Charm. As the name says, upon casting the Disarming Spell you will disarm your target’s weapon, or in most cases his wand. It doesn’t have to be a weapon, you can make your target release anything from their hands like books, medallions, etc. Expelliarmus is one of the most used spells in duels. Sometimes if you put more power into it you will also knock back your opponent.

In order to cast your first offensive spell, you will need to get your stars up by listening to Professor Flitwick and practicing your charm, stance, and wand swing.

When you’ve done all of your tasks, the professor will tell you that you are ready to try and cast Expelliarmus for the first time.

Now to cast your first offensive spell all you need to do is flick your finger in an upside down L shape as seen in the picture above. If you’ve correctly done it, your wand will shoot a sparkling red beam towards Professor Flitwick and you will purposely release his wand from his hand.

After you’ve completed everything, you will finally learn an offensive spell and now you can defend yourself from Merula Snyde, and everyone else who opposes you in the upcoming duels.

Don’t think of this spell as a weak one. The great Harry Potter used the Disarming Spell on many occasions. He even used it in the legendary scene where he was fighting the dark lord Voldemort. Harry put all of his might into channeling Expelliarmus so he even managed to equal the strength of one of the most popular Voldemort curse spells, Avada Kedavra!
- Knockback Jinx (Flipendo)

Flipendo, the Knockback Jinx is the very first Jinx you will learn in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery year one chapter seven from Professor Flitwick. This will be a great addition to your dueling spells.

Flipendo is a very powerful type of spell that can, on some occasions, be very dangerous. What kind of spell is Flipendo? Jinxes belong to a spell class called the Dark Arts. This is the real deal. Dark Arts are the types of spells that will 100% harm your target, and on some occasions, they will hurt the caster as well, depending on what spell is being cast.

As for the dangerous part of Flipendo – Knockback Jinx, it can do a reverse effect on the caster if he channels the power in his wand too much, and upon releasing it will backfire, knocking the caster down and potentially hurting him!

Knockback Jinx is also called Flipendo. As the part of the name says, upon casting it will literally flip your target or push everything in your path. Let’s get into details. Flipendo can be used for more than just dueling. Besides physically repelling your opponents, you can also knock objects away and even activate hidden magical switches.
Flipendo may sound ridiculous but in the hands of a master spellcaster, it can do a lot of damage. You would have to focus hard and charge every bit of power you have in your wand and release it at the right moment. If you overdo it, it will backfire and that could end up badly, hurting the caster and knocking him to the ground.

It will be hard for you to learn this important dueling spell in the beginning because you’ve made a mess earlier and broke one of the Hogwarts school rules. Professor won’t go easy on you and allow you to learn another strong dueling spell. But eventually using the right words with Professor Flitwick, he will agree that it’s the best for you and your safety to learn this spell from him.

In order to cast your first Jinx, you will need to study and learn every little bit of Flipendo. It’s the first spell that can deal a significant amount of damage, so you must know everything about it in order to cast it correctly without damaging yourself.

The learning process will consume a lot of energy. Taking notes, listening to the professor, practicing your stance, etc.

Once you have completed every single task you are given, you will be ready to try and cast your first Knockback Jinx. If you’ve flicked your wand in the right direction and shape you will cast Flipendo and the dummy you are targeting will be knocked away.
- Levitation Charm (Wingardium Leviosa)

I’m sure you’ve all heard of this one. One of the most popular spells there is. Levitation Charm or better known as Wingardium Leviosa. You will learn this spell in year one chapter five from Professor Flitwick in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mistery mobile game.

Wingardium Leviosa is one of the basic charms freshman students will learn. As the name says upon casting Levitation Charm you will make an object levitate or fly. This spell has a lot of popularity even in the wizarding world. Because what is a wizard that can’t move objects with a swing of a wand?

A little bit of a background story on this charm. The guy who invented Levitation Charm was Jarleth Hobart. A really funny spell developer who wanted to stand out. He wanted to make a dream into a reality. His dream was to make himself fly. He succeeded, well kind of. When he finally developed the Levitation Charm he wanted to make the first test public, so he invited a lot of wizards to come in front of a local church. The show was about to begin. Hobart flicked his wand and pronounced Wingardium Leviosa.
All of a sudden he started to lift off, but that’s just it. He was only levitating, he couldn’t move. The crowd was not impressed. He desperately tried to move through the air using a swimming technique that didn’t work. He thought his clothes were making him too heavy, so he took them off. Little did he know, he was flying only because he had charmed his clothes, not his body. Afterward, he came to the conclusion that you can only lift objects, and the weight you can lift is only limited by the amount of skill and power the caster has.

In order to cast your first Levitation Charm, you must learn all about it. You will have to put a lot of energy points in the learning process in order to learn how to cast it. This spell may look easy, but it isn’t. The thing about charms is that it takes a lot of practice. It isn’t all about power in the magic world. Good posture and stance have a large role in casting charms.

Also the most important thing, you can’t cast your charms if you don’t pronounce them right. Like Hermione Granger said to Ron Weasley “It’s Levi-O-sa, not Levio-sar“.
Finally, when you’re done learning everything you need to know, you will be given the movement path of your first Levitation Charm. The path won’t be too hard. It will look like an upsidedown letter “n“.

If you’ve done everything correctly your feather will rise up and start to levitate. You will unlock Wingardium Leviosa and it will earn you +5 Gems that you can spend on in-game features.
- Tickling Charm (Rictusempra)
Rictusempra is the second dueling spell, and your third spell in total you will learn in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mistery year one, chapter four. The thing about this spell is that you won’t learn it from a charms professor. You are going to learn Rictusempra with a little help from your friend Rowan Khanna. Originally you were supposed to learn this spell in year two from Professor Flitwick but you were so eager to learn new spells that would help you defend yourself against Merula Snyde, that you just couldn’t wait.
Your House Prefect wanted to teach you how to duel, but you didn’t know any spells. So you decided to take matters into your own hands. He said that there was a dueling spell book hidden in the Artifact Room. Quickly afterward, you and Rowan sneaked into the Artifact Room and started looking for the spell book.

After some time of searching and using your energy to examine the shelves full of dusty books and scrolls, you manage to find a book full of dueling spells. Finally, something that will help you put a stop to Merula’s torture. Afterward, you sneaked back from the Artifact Room to your Common Room to sleep and get some rest for tomorrow.

The next day at lunch you talked about your next move. The job wasn’t over yet. Now in a book full of hundreds of different spells, you must search for the right one. The spell is easy for two first-year students to learn and that will stop Merula. Rowan offered himself to study the whole book in search of the right one.

Finally, he found it! A charm that will aid you in your future duels – Rictusempra.

Rictusempra is a weird spell also known as Tickling Charm. As the name says upon casting, it will tickle your target and make them laugh uncontrollably. This charm may be seen as harmless but it can prove to be a useful tool. You can even use it on your friends and make them laugh just for fun. But the main use of Rictusempra is for dueling. It will make your opponent laugh so hard they won’t be able to move or cast any spells.

In order to cast your first Rictusempra, you need to practice your stance and wand swing, and for that, you will use a lot of energy. Rowan will be there to help you with studying Rictusempra. He will even offer himself to be used as a test dummy and you will cast Tickling charm onto him.

The wand movement will be a little tricky. The movement path will look like a leaf, so it will mean that basically, you are using a leaf to tickle your opponents.

If you’ve done everything correctly you will make Rowan laugh so hard it will hurt. No matter, he will be glad because you’ve learned a new spell and it will prove useful to use against Merula Snyde.
- Unlocking Charm (Alohomora)

The spell adored by thieves. Unlocking Charm, also known as Alohomora, is a spell you will learn in year one chapter seven from Professor Flitwick in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery mobile game. Alohomora will be of great help in your future missions, and I mean the secret ones.

As the name suggests, Unlocking Charm, upon casting this spell you will unlock a locked door. You can basically say that it has a similar effect to the Open Sesame phrase. It is unknown what was the real purpose of this spell and who made it but it sure made theft easier.
This spell was not introduced to London in a good way. A thief by the name of Eldon Elsrickle was the first wizard to use this spell in London to terrorize and rob houses of innocent Muggles and wizards. No one was safe at that time until later on, when a counterspell for Alohomora was created.

There was a wizard who used Unlocking Charm for a far worse cause than just stealing. The infamous bad guy in the Harry Potter movie franchise, Lord Voldemort. He used Alohomora to unlock and invade the house of Harry Potter’s parents while Harry was just a little baby. He killed them and tried to kill Harry Potter, but failed, and in that scene, he gained a scar on his forehead. The mark that will make him famous for the rest of his life.

In order to cast Alohomora and unlock your first lock without using a key, you will need to spend a lot of energy on reading books that will tell you how to properly pronounce your charm and what locks you can or can’t unlock. There are a few spells made for countering Alohomora but in the end, it’s all about how much power and skill the caster has.

When you complete all of the tasks and earn all of the stars, you will be given the movement path of the spell. It may look a little hard but it’s nothing that you can’t handle. You will be given a small lock in front of you to practice your first Alohomora.

If you’ve done everything correctly you will successfully cast your first Alohomora and you will now have the power to unlock any lock without having the proper key.

You will also be awarded +5 Gems upon learning this spell that you can spend on many in-game accessories such as clothes, jewelry, and many more features.
- Wand-Extinguishing Charm (Nox)
In some situations, you need to be stealthy. But you can’t be stealthy when the tip of your wand provides light by using a charm called Lumos.

If you are in that kind of a situation where you don’t want to be seen, Wand-Extinguishing Charm is the way to go. Wand-Extinguishing Charm is also called Nox. You will learn Nox in year one chapter five of Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mistery mobile game from Professor Flitwick.
So, the original spell for providing light from the tip of your wand is called Lumos or Wand-Lighting Charm. Lumos will make your wand light up and it will decay over time or it will extinguish when you lose focus. If you want to immediately “power off” your wand you will need to cast a charm called Nox which also means “night” in Latin.

In order to extinguish your wand, you will need to learn everything about Nox and how to properly cast it. For you to do that, you will need to pay close attention to the Charms Class. First, you will need to finish a pre-class in order to get you to the Nox charm. You will have to spend a lot of energy in order to learn all the information you need.

You will need to focus really hard on this charm. Especially when you are on a secret mission where you can’t be seen. If you lose focus, even a little, you will end up empowering your Lumos charm, which means that your wand will light up even more and you will be seen by everyone else in that room or field you are located on.

When you’ve done everything, Professor Flitwick will assume you are ready to give it a go and try to extinguish the light from the tip of your wand.

The wand movement will be a little tricky, unlike the Lumos charm that is an upside letter ” V “. If you manage to do it correctly and cast Wand-Extinguishing Charm, the ball of light coming from the top of your wand will immediately disappear.

Learning Nox, or Wand-Extinguishing Charm will earn you +5 Gems that you can spend on many in-game features like clothes, accessories, and even energy packs.
- Wand-Lighting Charm (Lumos)

Wand-Lighting Charm is the very first spell you will learn in year one chapter two from Professor Flitwick. Lumos is the easiest spell you will learn but nevertheless, it’s the most used one.

Before you can cast your first spell you will need to learn more about it. Pay attention to the class! Professor Flitwick will ask you a question regarding the Lumos spell. Afterward, with a bit more studying and practicing, you will be ready to try and cast Lumos.

Now all you need to do is to swing your wand in the right way.

If done correctly, the tip of your wand will start to light up. Lumos is mostly used to search shadowy rooms for hidden dangers, revealing secret passages that can’t be seen by bare eyes or just to help you with your reading in the dark and light up your newspapers. It may look like its just lighting up the tip of the wand but it actually provides a strong concentrated beam that can repel creatures such as Ghosts or Gytrashes.

Upon learning Wand-Lighting Charm you will be granted +5 Gems. You can spend Gems on many features in the Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery game.

Even the great Harry Potter used Lumos in his adventures like the time when he was with Albus Dumbledore when they were on a quest searching for the Horcrux locket in the dark crystal cave.
Potions
Here you can find information about all the Potions you can learn to brew in Year One of your Hogwarts studies. Each of them contains the learning information and its usage in the game.
- Cure of Boils Potion

The Cure for Boils Potion is the very first potion that freshman students will learn in year one, chapter two, from potion master Professor Severus Snape. A little heads up, although it’s your first potion it won’t go easy for you.

The Cure for Boils is just a simple potion that cures boils. This potion doesn’t have an important role in the Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery mobile game. This potion is easy to brew. Because of that, professors use this potion to teach new students in Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

In order to learn your first potion, you will need to earn two stars, as seen in the picture above. To earn a star you will need to do a series of tasks. Those tasks will just be a series of clicking on shiny objects or students. For you to finish those tasks you will need to spend energy. You have a limited amount of time to finish every lesson so be careful on how much energy you have before starting the lesson.

First, you will need to watch Professor Snape’s demonstration on how to brew this potion.

Afterward, all that is left is for you is to try and brew your first potion. You will also need to spend energy on stuff like gathering supplies and learning a few more tips from books.

When you completed all the tasks, and when all of your ingredients are in the cauldron, you will be given the motion path to finish making your first Cure for Boils Potion.

Upon learning to brew Cure for Boils Potion you will earn +5 Gems that you can spend on many in-game features like clothes or accessories.
- Herbicide Potion

Herbicide Potion is the 3rd potion you will learn in year one – chapter seven in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery mobile game from the most known Potion Master, professor Severus Snape.

As the name suggests – Herbicide, this potion has something to do with Herbs. In this case, Herbicide Potion has everything but love for plants. Herbs or plants are used to give all kinds of flavor and aroma for meals. They can also be used as an important ingredient for medical purposes or for making some magic potions. So, this potion isn’t meant to be around plants. If you pour this potion on plants it will kill them or at least damage them. If only we had this potion when the Devil’s Snare attacked us…Also, if you are wondering, no, this potion isn’t drinkable.

In order to learn your 3rd potion in your freshman year, you will need to earn 5 stars. Earning stars process will be a series of tasks which will need energy as fuel. It is recommended to start this lesson with a full energy bar. If you still don’t have enough energy to finish the rest of your lesson, you can find some energy hidden in objects all around the classroom and in the castle of Hogwarts.

First, Professor Snape will demonstrate his potion skills. He will show you how to properly prepare the ingredients and, of course, warn you about the consequences of failing to do everything right. You will have to do this until you get your first star.

For your first task, you will need to find the ingredient called Lionfish Spines. Finding and preparing the bowl for crushing will earn you one more star. When you finish everything, you will be given the movement path to commence crushing that will look like an upside letter “U“.

Next task will be to find and add the ingredient called Flobberworm Mucus. When you’ve done everything, like with the previous ingredient, you will be given the movement path on the screen for adding your substance. Finishing this will award you your 3rd star.

When all of your ingredients are in the cauldron you will need to stir it so all of your elements mix, also, stirring will prevent your elixir from burning up. This process will earn you your 4th star.

Now, all that is left is for you to finish your potion by moving your finger on the screen in the right way and your concoction will be completed.

Completing Herbicide Potion will grant you +5 Gems that you can spend on many features that Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery mobile game provides.
- Sleeping Draught Potion

Sleeping Draught is the 4th and final potion you will learn as a freshman in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery year one – chapter eight. The difference between this potion and the rest is that you won’t learn this potion from Professor Snape, you will learn this one from a girl colleague. And not just any girl, you will learn Sleeping Draught from the most popular girl in the whole of Hogwarts! Penny Haywood!

Penny Haywood is the most popular girl in year one. She is most known for her skill in brewing potions. She was so pleased that you stand up against Merula Snyde that she said she would do anything she can to help if you needed something.

Well, luckily for you, you needed help with a potion that can take care of Mrs. Norris (cat of the Hogwarts janitor Argus Filch) who is guarding the entrance of the secret room. So, you needed something that can take care of the cat without causing suspicion. The best answer was to make Mrs. Norris drink the Sleeping Draught potion and make her sleep while you investigate the room.

Sleeping Draught is a potion that will make anyone who drinks it fall into deep sleep. This potion is very simple but it can be very dangerous. SleepingDraught is a kind of potion that you can adapt depending on your needs. When I say adapt I mean you can brew it to become a more powerful version of this sleeping potion. That version is called Draught of the Living Death. Remember when I said it can be dangerous? Well, this is as far as it goes.
The strongest Sleeping Draught meaning Draught of the Living Death was once used on a princess and it made her fall into deep sleep, making her unconscious for the time being. Everyone thought she was a goner, and that she would never wake up until a wizard prince arrived with a possible cure that will wake up the sleeping princess. The cure was Wiggenweld Potion (healing potion). The prince soaked his lips with the Wiggenweld Potion and kissed the princess. All of a sudden her body started to warm up, she was finally waking up (talk about a cliché).

In order to earn your last potion in your freshman year, you will need to earn 5 stars. If you don’t already know, you can earn stars by clicking on the glowing objects or NPC’s, and for that process, you will use energy that you have a limited amount of. It is highly suggested that you start this lesson with a full energy bar.

This potion will require no searching for ingredients of any kind, or prepare them for the cauldron. You will have everything there, already prepared by Penny. You will just need to use energy clicking on the book in front of your character and on Penny.

Finally, when you have completed all of the tasks given, and when you have gathered 5 stars, you will learn your final potion for year one and it will reward you +5 Gems that you can spend on many in-game customizations.
- Wiggenweld Potion

Wiggenweld Potion is the second potion you will learn in year one – chapter four in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery mobile game from Professor Snape. This potion will be of great importance for your future duels.

WiggenweldPotion is one of the main potions you will use in Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. This potion is mostly used in dueling. It is also known as Healing Potion. As the name suggests, upon drinking this potion in a duel it will heal you for the next two turns. Wiggenweld Potion can also reverse the effect of Sleeping DraughtPotion.

In order to learn your second potion and the most important one, you will need to earn 5 stars! This one is a little more complicated than the last one so it will take more stars to complete the lesson. For you to earn your 5 stars, you will need to spend a lot of energy. It is recommended to start this class with your energy filled all the way to the top.

First, you will need to watch and listen to the demonstration of Professor Snape brewing the potion with previously prepared ingredients. The most obvious and important thing is to pay attention to what ingredients are used for your potion.

Your first task will be to look for the proper elements. You will spend a portion of your energy searching for one of the ingredients called Salamander’s Blood.

Next task will be to prepare the cauldron for adding the Salamander’s Blood. In order to put your ingredient into your concoction, you will need to gain a few more stars.

When you finished preparing the cauldron you will be given the movement path to add your first ingredient called Salamander’s Blood.

For the next task, you will need to prepare for weighing the Lionfish Spines ingredient. You will need to spend some energy on the preparations in order to use the scale.

When you finished all of the tasks for this ingredient you will be given the movement path for the weighing process.

When you have collected all of the ingredients and put everything into the cauldron, you will need to stir your concoction by following the movement path on the screen, it will mix everything up and finally complete the brewing of your first Wiggenweld Potion.
Flying
Here you can find information about all the Flying lessons you can learn in Year One of your Hogwarts studies. Each one of these comes with a detailed explanation and learning instructions.
The Flying lessons will be some of the first ones you will learn during your Hogwarts studies. Since every witch and wizard needs to know how to fly on a broom, these classes are mandatory and highly practical. For starters, you will learn some basic things like summoning your broom, mounting it, and eventually even lifting it off. While most of these lessons may seem pretty mundane, learning them is very important for every new witch and wizard, especially if they want to try out for Quidditch later on.
Mount Broom
Once again in order to become a true wizard and fly for the first time, you will need to complete yet another flying class in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery. Luckily you have the best flying coach there is, Madam Hooch. Last lesson you learned to summon your broom to your hand, in this lesson you will learn how to mount your broom and be one step closer to flying.

In order to start your lesson, you will apply what you have learned in the last lesson. First things first, you will need to maintain your broom and prepare her for the upcoming practice. There you will have to spend your energy points until you have earned your first star.

Once you have completed your obligations and gathered your first star you will be given the movement path on the screen which if you’ve done correctly your protagonist will do the final touch and polish your broom.

For this lesson, you will need to gain 5 stars in 3 hours. It will be a hard task. It is highly suggested you start this lesson with a full energy bar located in the top right corner. To gain your other 4 stars you will need to spend energy on practicing Broom Summoning you learned last time and watching Madam Hooch with her demonstration.

Once you have obtained all 5 stars, you will be given the movement path to call the broom with the “up” pronunciation. If you’ve done that correctly, you will be given a focus stationary circle and one circle with the same center that is increasing in size and decreasing. In order to mount your broom, you will have to land the moving circle with the stationary one.
If you’ve done everything correctly you will finally be mounted on your broom and your legs would be up in the air. By completing this lesson you will be granted +1 energy limit which will prove useful with your long lessons. Now you are one step closer to lift off the ground and fly out in the open and who knows, if you prove yourself you might even get into the Quidditch team.
Liftoff and Landing
This is it. The moment you’ve been preparing for. In this last flying class in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery year one you will finally try to fly for the first time. You will either lift off and fly to the open sky or fall off the broom and crash badly into the ground (hope not). This flying lesson will be hard like the last one.

In order to finish this class, you will have to obtain 5 stars in 3 hours. It is recommended to start this class with a full energy bar. You will probably spend all your energy even if you had it full, so you will have to either wait for your energy to come back or buy some energy with in-game currency. You can also look around the Hogwarts castle and find energy spots that will surely prove useful.

Like every other flying lesson, it will start with broom maintenance where you will have to spend some of your energy until you gain your first star. After you get your first star you will be given the path on the screen which upon completion will make your character do the final broom cleaning animation.

After maintaining your broom you will need to practice all the previous exercises you learned in the last two lessons, which was: summon broom and mount broom. While practicing your broom control you will have to spend a lot of energy in order to get 4 stars which you will need to complete this lesson.

When you finally finish all the tasks of preparing your broom, practicing your magic control over her, and maintaining your balance, you will earn the 5th star and there you will be given the movement-looking path which upon successfully tracing will make your protagonist fly for the first time.

You finally learned to lift off the ground and fly like every other real wizard. This will be the last flying lesson and the last test you will have in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery – year one. Upon completing this lesson you will be granted +1 Energy Limit that will surely prove useful in the upcoming lessons. Later in the approaching years, you will learn to do all sorts of acrobatics with your broom which will make all of this look so funny and easy.
HP Hogwarts Mystery Lessons Year 2
Charms
Here you will be able to find all of the information regarding Charms Class in your second year of Hogwarts. You can view all of the spells that you are going to learn, read a little something about their history and application. We will also briefly describe the process of learning the lesson. Charms lessons seem to be scarce in the second year, and the ones you do learn are quite useful and will come in handy throughout your adventures.
Charms lessons are probably the most important ones you will learn. They have a lot of practical uses, and you will definitely use some of the spells you learn during some of your adventures. It is also important to note that Charms is one of the subjects you will have to take during your O.W.L.s, which is why you should try your best to focus during classes and master all of the lessons.
- Engorgement Charm (Engorgio)

The Engorgement Charm is the first spell you will learn from Professor Flitwick in Charms Class. This spell is the counterpart to the Shrinking Charm, and causes the target to swell, that is, increase in size. Should the caster attempt to make the target swell past a certain point, it will most likely explode violently. The casters wand will emit an icy blue circle from the tip, just like a torch. Anything caught in this circle will grow and swell.

The Engorgement Charm was included in The Standard Book of Spells, Grade 2 by Miranda Goshawk. She also wrote about the Shrinking Charm in the book, which can be used to counter it.
We can also see this charm cast in movies. For instance, when the three aspiring wizards go to Hagrid’s farm, the notice unusually large pumpkins in his field. Hermione suspects Hagrid of using the Engorgement Charm to increase the size of his crops. Considering Hagrid is a rather large fellow, I think we can let it slide this time.

As with any other lesson, you will need to perform a series of smaller tasks before you learn the intended spell. As always, follow the instructions which include listening to the professor, observing his movement, taking notes and answer questions. Tap on the screen where required and collect the stars you need to advance.

Make sure you answer the questions correctly to make things easier on yourself.

This will take quite a bit of energy as always, so make sure you come prepared. Stock up on your resources.

After you complete all the required tasks and collect enough stars, Professor Flitwick will finally show you the wand movement required for Engorgio.

If you followed the instructions carefully and performed the wand movement correctly, you will cast the Engorgement Charm on the shrunk cauldron in front of you and return it to its original size. Quite the feat for a young, aspiring wizard like yourself.

Unlocking Engorgio will award you with 5 gems. Additionally, the spell is necessary for you to continue your adventures. You and your best friend Rowan have a sneaky plan in mind that will require both the Engorgement and Shrinking Charms.
- Shrinking Charm (Reducio)

Following Professor Flitwick’s first lesson where you learned to cast the Engorgement Charm, in chapter two you will learn its opposite, the Reduction Charm, Reducio. As you can assume, this charm allows the caster to reduce the size of the target, internally as well as externally. One can even toy with an object by casting Reducio and Engorgio over and over again. However, the use of these spells on humans is considered very dangerous as the effects are not always predictable. Professor Flitwick even warns all of the students about this before teaching them the lesson.
Not much is known about the charms origin or history. We don’t even know who invented it or why. We can only assume someone had trouble packing too much luggage into a suitcase and got creative.

The Shrinking Charm was used a few times in the movie franchise as well. None of them were significant events, for instance Harry used it to reduce the size of the fire he had previously enlarged. Madam Pomfrey used it as well to shrink Hermione’s teeth down to normal size because Draco Malfoy hexed her.
As you can see, the uses for this spell can be both practical and comical. It can definitely come in handy throughout a wizard or witch’s career.

Now it’s time to learn everything you can about the charm before attempting to cast it. Make sure you come to class prepared. This means having enough energy and time to properly see this lesson through.
Go about you activities as you normally would; click on the glowing objects to take notes, listen to the professor or observe his movement. Do this until you fill the star meter and you will advance to the next step.

The next part consists of learning the wand movement for Reducio. If you remember the movement for the Engorgement Charm, you will notice this one is the exact opposite of that. Simply trace your finger across the line and presto! The charm will be cast on the cauldron in front of you, causing it to shrink.

With this, you will have completed your lesson and learned the Shrinking Charm, Reducio. Although it can be a fun spell to use, be wary. It is not entirely harmless, as casting it on a human being can be quite dangerous.
Not that you will heed this warning anyway. You and Rowan come up with a plan that requires the use of both the Shrinking and the Engorgement Charms to pursue your investigation of the Cursed Vaults.

The reward for the Reduction Charm is the standard 5 gems. Collect them and get back to your adventures at Hogwarts.
Potions
Here you will be able to find all the information regarding potion making in your second year. Professor Snape will still be your teacher, so stay sharp. He is now known for his tolerance and patience. Learn fast and learn well, that’s all the advice we can give you for now!
- Fire Protection Potion

With all the Cursed Ice going around the school, the most logical way of combating it is fire. But, improper use of fire spells can lead to injuries. Nasty ones. So, it’s a good thing Professor Snape decided to teach this potion in his class.
When consumed, the potion allows the user to move through flames unharmed. It doesn’t do anything about your fear though, so just remain calm and remember that you are protected.
This potion is well known to fans, as it was used in the first part by Harry to get passed the fire and reach the Philosopher’s Stone and Mirror or Erised.

Pay attention as Professor Snape demonstrates proper brewing methods and mixing of ingredients. You might think you know how to do it properly, but a lesson from a professional is always welcome. There’s a reason he’s teaching the class, after all.

Having seen Professor Snape go through the process, begin your search for the ingredients. Click along the shelves and complete the tasks until you arrive to the next part of your lesson.

Go to your cauldron and begin mixing the ingredients as demonstrated. You can laugh like a maniacal villain or snicker while you mix it, pretending you are bringing about the end of your arch nemesis if that helps. However, Professor Snape might not react well to that.
- Strengthening Solution

Just like Charms Class, Potions class has taken a back seat to Transfiguration in the second year. You will only learn how to brew two potions from Professor Snape. The first of these potions is the Strengthening Solution. Once consumed, this solution fortifiers the user’s strength.
In the wrong hands it could be a dangerous tool, and in the movies, you can see Dolores Umbridge criticising Snape for even including it in the curriculum.

Once the class starts, Rowan will ask you to go look for the ingredients with him. Working in a pair will surely half the time it would normally require, so you’ll gladly accept the offer. Accompany Rowan to where the ingredients are kept and search for the required ones.

Now that you have gathered all the ingredients, place them on the table in front of you and get to crushing. Potion brewing is a delicate art and just like casting charms, there is no room for mistake. Properly grind your ingredients down to the required size and prepare them for the cauldron.

One must have a firm and steady hand to stir properly. Should your touch lack determination, the potion will come out wrong and who knows what might happen when you drink it. Listen to Professor Snape and mix like you mean it.

If you’ve done everything right up until now, you will reach the final step without problems. Keep up the good work and finish up the potion.

And there you have it! You’ve learned how to brew the Strengthening Solution. Use it wisely and only when needed. Hopefully, such an occasion will never arise, but Hogwarts is a mysterious place, and you never know where danger might lurk.
Flying
Hello everyone, welcome to our Flying section for Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery – Year Two. Similar to Year One, you will only have a few lessons this year and they will not be applicable outside of class. But that should not discourage you from learning them anyway in hopes of one day making the Quidditch Team. Yes, during your Hogwarts studies, you will be able to tryout for Quidditch. Because of that, it is very important to do well in Flying classes and complete all of the lessons.
Like before, completing each of the Flying lessons will increase your maximum energy limit by one. Thanks to this, you will be able to accumulate more energy, which will, in turn, allow you to complete future tasks, lessons, and classes easier. Because of this, many players consider Flying classes to be the most important ones.
- Fast Laps

Welcome to Flying Class with the lovely Madam Hooch. After spending an entire year at Hogwarts, she expects you to have a firm grasp on your broom when flying, hence the increase in lesson difficulty. This time, instead of just flying, you will learn to fly FAST!
That’s right. This time around, you’re going to be picking up speed on your broom. Faster flying can be more exciting but more dangerous as well. Keep your head up and stay focused.

You probably remember this part from year one as well. But Madam Hooch insists on proper broom maintenance. She says it’s key to flying well. If you treat your broom with respect, it will return the favor. Tend to your broom as instructed. Apply the wax and run it in equally along its entire length.
It worth mentioning that if you don’t do this, splinter might appear on your broom and that would not make for a comfortable flight.

Go around the class gathering tips. Observe Madam Hooch as she flies on her broom, talk to Rowan and your other classmates to potentially receive some tips.

Once again, you seemed to have proven yourself the most competent student in class and the Professor has selected you as the first one to try out this new flying mechanic.

Up and away you go. Mounting the broom and Taking Off are no issue for you, and you in the air in no time. When it comes to demonstrate the fast flying lesson, you excel once again. Like a fish in water. You’re turning out to be quite a promising wizard.

The standard tips and advice go for this lesson as well. You will need to gather 5 stars in 3 hours, so it’s recommended that you start with full energy.
- Weaving
Flying lessons are getting progressively more difficult as you advance through your second year. First you had to learn how to fly fast, and now you’re expected to do barrel rolls, twists and turns on your broom. If you ask me, this all hints towards a possible Quidditch match in the future years. Fingers crossed.

Let’s get started then. First, you’ll want to mount your broom and f…. Oh, right. Broom maintenance it is. Madam Hooch would probably have you sent to detention if you forgot something as important as this. It is one of the basics, after all.

Inspect your broom properly. See if it needs mending in any of the places. And apply a new coat of wax just in case. You can never be too safe.
A broom is much like a witch or wizard’s wand. It can be a source of tremendous power if mastered.

For this class, Madam Hooch has even brought in a special guest. Andre is an older student at Hogwarts, and most likely part of the Quidditch team. This means he can maneuver the broom like the best of them. Watch carefully as he demonstrates proper posture and grip which are key to success.

In the end, you will get the movement path, and all you have to do is trace it with your finger to successfully perform the Weaving Maneuver.

And with this, you’ve completed all your flying lessons in the second year. Stay patient until next year, and there will be more lessons to come. In the meantime, you will have more than enough Transfiguration lessons to keep you busy.
Transfiguration
Hello everyone, welcome to our Transfiguration section for Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery – Year Two. Transfiguration is a new class you will have in Year Two and deals with the appearance of objects. It can be used to change the form of an object by changing its molecular structure. For instance, you could turn a cat into a cauldron or a stool. The possibilities are limitless, but it requires a clear and focused mind.
In Hogwarts Mystery, Transfiguration classes are taught by Minerva McGonagall, Head of Gryffindor House. You will be able to learn many useful spells that will surely be useful during your adventures to find the Cursed Vaults. However, that’s not the only time Transfiguration will be useful to you. During the fifth year of your studies, you will need to take the O.W.L.s. One of those is Transfiguration, and needless to say, it is of utmost importance to learn all of the lessons in order to pass it.
- Porcupine to Pincushion

Out of all the charms and all the lessons learned at Hogwarts, this has to be the silliest one, hands down. Who came up with this spell, or even why is beyond comprehension. One can’t help but imagine a wizard who accidentally sat on a porcupine, and we so enraged he softened the creature’s spikes out of revenge.

But, who are we to question the wise council of witches and wizards that decide the curriculum at Hogwarts? Without further ado, let’s get right into the lesson. Start off as you normally would, by keeping an eye out for the glowing objects on your screen and clicking on them. Proceed to repeat this until you’ve collected enough stars.

As if the spell wasn’t strange enough, now you have to calm soothe the porcupine before the transfiguration process. Okay, this part might not be as bad. You get to pet a porcupine. Just be careful of the spikes.

And there you have it, witches and wizards. You have just successfully turned a porcupine into a pincushion. It’s unlikely you will ever need to cast this spell outside of class, but who knows.
- Repairing Charm

As its name would suggest, the Repairing Charm is used to repair broken objects. Apparently, it works most materials and few exceptions are known. Its use is limited to items, so it could not be cast on a living being. There have been attempts to try and heal a wound on a human in the past, but they resulted in severe scaring.
Also, there are limits to what sort of damage it can repair. If an object was simply broken, it can easily be restored via the spell. However, if a powerful spell was used, like Fiendyre then the effects are impossible to reverse.
Another interesting feature of the charm is that it cannot repair a wand, although it is an object. Objects of strong magical origin are impervious to the spell, and while one might be able to temporarily repair a wand, its magical properties would never return.

The inventor of the Repairing Charm is Orabella Nutelly. She invented the spell in or around 1754 when she used the charm to repair several columns preventing the breach of the Statue of Secrecy. It is possible that she had invented the spell beforehand, but this was the first recorded case of it being used.

Now that you know all there is to know about the Repair Charm, let’s get started on learning how to cast it. The class will be standard and consist of you clicking around the classroom on glowing objects to gather stars. Listen, observe, read and help classmates until you have enough stars.

Professor McGonagall will check your attention span with an easy question. Get the answer right to make the lesson go easier!

Keep up the clicking process around the classroom. It may not be the most interesting way of learning, but it sure beats reading volumes of books.

When Professor McGonagall feels you are ready, she will give you the wand path for the charm. You can test it out on the shattered cauldron in front of you. Move the wand in a circular motion and you will be done.

Your hard work and training paid off! You’ve just added another charm to your already diverse arsenal and are one step closer to taking the challenges of Hogwarts head on!
- Reparifarge

Transfiguration is a very delicate branch of magic. It changes the form or appurtenance of an object by altering the object’s molecular structure. The caster must take great care when attempting to cast these kinds of spells.
Reparifarge is an incantation a wizard or witch pronounces when they want to untransfigure something. Reparifarge has several uses. For instance, it can be used to undo a transfiguration spell that went south. Or it could be used to transfigure something with the goal of hiding it disguised as something else.

Even a skilled witch like Professor McGonagall highlights the importance of this spell. This means it has come across as very useful during her eventful life as a magic user.

To cast Reparifarge, one must be completely focused. Clear your mind and imagine the spell taking effect. Go around the classroom and observe the professor at work, read from the black board and consult with your classmates.

Professor McGonagall will also ask you questions throughout the class to check whether you are paying attention or not.

When you have studied enough, that is collected enough stars to fill the meter, you will be able to advance to the next step and be given the wand path for Reparifarge. You should be familiar with this part of your lesson by now. Just trace the path with your finger and there you have it!

Now that you know the spell to reverse the effects of transfiguration, you can feel a bit more at east in your classes. If you mess anything up, you can easily undo it.
- Revelio

The Revelio Charm is not commonly taught in the second year, as it is considered too difficult for young witches and wizards. However, since you proved yourself to Professor McGonagall in her Transfiguration classes she offered you advanced lessons. Count yourself lucky, not all of the students have this honor.
Transfiguration charms are all about appearances. This one, in particular, reveals the true form of things or makes the invisible visible again. You can use it to locate objects that are hidden or appear as something else due to transfiguration.

Considering you are alone in the classroom this time, the learning process will go much faster. Professor McGonagall can focus all of her teaching on you thus making it more efficient. Thankfully, you are a prominent wizard as well and pick up on this difficult lesson in no time. Before you know it, she will have you casting the spell.

The wand movement for this one is quite easy to remember. It’s the shape of an R, as in Revelio.

Congratulations, you’ve just mastered the Revelio Charm. Perhaps Hogwarts will no longer be as mysterious as it used to be.

If only all of the lessons were private ones, the entire process would be a lot faster. But, the other witches and wizards have to learn as well, right?
- Softening Charm

The Softening Charm is a transfigurations spell. It is used to soften the target area or object, making it rubbery and bouncy.

Due to its playful nature and potential, Professor McGonagall warns against using it to bounce around the hallways. It is safe to assume the students that have done this in the past got their just deserts. If you ask me, that looks like a -20 House Point penalty.

Your last lesson with Professor McGonagall was a private one, making it go faster. But this time, you are back in class with all the other students. This means the charm is easier to master, but it doesn’t pose as much of challenge to a potent wizard like you.
Keep going through the usual routine of clicking on the glowing objects to collect the stars.

When casting Transfiguration spells and charm, the most important thing is visualization. You must have a clear picture of what you want to create in your head, otherwise it might not go as planned, leaving your cat half-stool, half-animal. Luckily, you learned Reparifarge to correct these minor mistakes that might occur during training.

You will hardly be able to believe that after casting Spongify, your tough steel cauldron is now as stretchable as you bath sponge. Then again, you’ve already seen it shrunk, enlarged and even turned into a cat! Hogwarts is always pushing the boundaries of what we thought was possible.
