Secrets of Godric’s Hollow Part 1

Introduction

Hello everyone, welcome to Part 1 of our Walkthrough for Secrets of Godric’s Hollow Adventure of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery.

This adventure is available for students of Year 3 and above and it should unlock after you reach Chapter 3 of Year 3. It is a seasonal adventure, and it can only unlock in October. After you unlock it, you will have 3 days and 17 hours to complete it.

Once you start the adventure, Penny will ask you to meet with her in the Great Hall, so proceed there when you are ready.

Walkthrough

[Disclaimer: This walkthrough will feature the gameplay from the perspective of a Year 7 student. Since the adventure is available for students of Year 3 and above, the star and attribute requirements for certain tasks might be different for you, depending on your current progress of the main story.]

Upon arriving, you will notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you are curious to see what they have to say.

Penny will thank you for coming. You’ll notice that she is excited about the upcoming Halloween celebration.

You’ll wonder what she is planning to do. She will say that she loves seeing all the pumpkins floating around during the feast. She’ll suggest carving some of your own pumpkins to make Halloween even better.

You’ll then get to choose a look for your pumpkin. There are three options to choose from. This choice will have an effect later on, but it won’t significantly change the story, so feel free to go with the option you prefer.

Shortly after, you’ll sit at the table and prepare to start carving the pumpkins.

Suddenly, Ben will rush into the Great Hall and approach you. You’ll notice the worried look on his face. Penny will cheerfully ask him to carve some pumpkins with the two of you.

Ben won’t really be in the mood for carving pumpkins. He’ll say that something terrible is going to happen soon.

According to him, Merula is planning to do something really bad… something that could potentially cancel the Halloween feast.

You’ll ask him to slow down and explain what’s going on. Ben will say that he’s heard Merula planning to do something horrible. If your character is a Gryffindor, you’ll get an additional line of dialogue.

You will ask him to tell you everything he heard.

Learning what Ben has heard requires earning five stars within three hours. Three stars are needed to pass.

There is a bonus progress action tied to Ben. Focus on his actions if you want to save a bit of energy.

According to Ben, Merula is planning to steal the Sword of Gryffindor as part of a Snyde family tradition. He’ll say that Ismelda is helping her with the plan.

His next line will differ, depending on your current progress of the main story.

Penny will say that according to Bathilda Bagshot’s ‘A History of Magic’, the sword’s whereabouts are unknown.

Ben will say that the Snydes have tried to find the sword for years, but Merula managed to obtain some new information.

Thankfully, Ben will know how to stop her. You just need to find the sword before Merula does, and she won’t be able to steal it. The following line will be different, depending on whether or not your character is a Gryffindor.

Penny will advise you to speak with Merula before doing anything drastic. Still, you’ll be unsure if Merula will be willing to listen.

Penny will be confident that the Most Powerful Witch at Hogwarts would hate to see the Halloween feast canceled.

Ben will tell you he saw Merula and Ismelda in the courtyard, and he’ll suggest going there. Penny will wish you good luck before you go.

Proceed to the courtyard when you are ready to continue. Once you arrive, you will spot Merula talking to Ismelda. She will mention something about figuring out what ‘back to the source’ really means.

Ismelda will ask her if they are leaving as soon as the night falls. You’ll notice that she is looking forward to the Halloween feast. Her friend won’t be too excited about the event.

Suddenly, they will spot you standing nearby. They’ll approach you and ask why you’re spying on them. You’ll bluntly say that you want to stop them from stealing the Sword of Gryffindor.

Merula will wonder why you think she’s trying to steal the sword. There are two options to reply with. If you don’t want to mention that Ben told you about it, it is recommended to pick the second option.

Merula will say that she’s not going to miss the opportunity to take the sword. You’ll decide to try to convince her why going after the sword is a bad idea.

Talking to Merula requires earning five stars within one hour. All five stars are needed to pass, so avoid starting this task if you are low on energy.

There are several different actions with bonus progress available during this task, which should make it easier to complete.

Unfortunately, Merula won’t be willing to give up on her search for the sword. You’ll notice that she is very excited about it.

You will remind her that no other member of her family has been able to find the sword. That fact will only motivate Merula to continue her search and become the Most Powerful Snyde.

You will realize there is nothing you can say to convince her to give up on the search. In other words, you will need to find some other way to stop her.

Ismelda will grin and say that they are very close to discovering the location of the sword. Merula will quickly interrupt her and tell her to keep quiet about the plan.

Before leaving the courtyard, the Most Powerful Witch at Hogwarts will warn you not to get in her way.

Given that she won’t be willing to listen to reason, you’ll decide to follow Ben’s advice and try to find the sword before she does.

Proceed to the corridor located in the West Towers once you are ready to meet with Ben.

You’ll inform him that you weren’t able to convince Merula to give up on her search. You will also say that they are close to finding the location of the sword.

Ben will suggest finding the sword before Merula does, and returning it to Professor Dumbledore once the feast is over.

Still, you’ll wonder where to start the search. Thankfully, Ben has an idea. According to him, Merula is searching in the wrong place.

He’ll tell you that the Snyde family has been obsessed over the same clue for hundreds of years.

He will go on and say that one member of the Snyde family read that they can find the sword if they go ‘back to the source’.

You’ll remember Merula saying those exact words to Ismelda in the courtyard. According to Ben, the Snydes think that the clue is related to the goblins who forged the sword.

However, your friend will be fairly positive that they misinterpreted the clue. He’ll then get to tell you more about it.

Talking to Ben requires earning five stars within one hour. Since all five stars are needed to pass, it is not recommended to start this task if you are out of energy.

There are bonus progress actions tied to Ben and your character. Prioritize those if you want to save a bit of energy.

Ben’s idea is that ‘the source’ is not referring to the goblins who forged the sword, but to its owner – Godric Gryffindor.

Your friend will assume that the sword is probably buried with its owner. You’ll ask if he knows where Godric Gryffindor is buried.

Unfortunately, he won’t know the location, but he’ll be sure it’s written in some book. He’ll suggest learning where Gryffindor is buried. That way, you should be able to find the sword before Merula.

Ben will then ask if you know anything about Godric Gryffindor. There are three options to reply with. The correct answer is ‘He was one of the four founders of Hogwarts’.

Still, you will need to do some research in order to find the location where Gryffindor was buried.

You’ll decide to head to the Library with Penny and try to find more information. Proceed there when you are ready to continue.

Upon arriving, you will notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you are curious to see what they have to say.

You’ll thank Penny for agreeing to meet with you. You will inform her that your only option is to find the Sword of Gryffindor before Merula does.

As always, Penny will happily offer her assistance.

You’ll tell her that you need to research Godric Gryffindor and find the location where he was buried. That way, you might be able to find the sword and save the Halloween feast.

Penny will point at Merula, who will be sitting and reading some books nearby.

In other words, she probably isn’t sure where the sword is located.

Penny will ask what you are planning to do if Merula spots you. There are two options to choose from. This choice will affect some dialogue lines, but other than that, it won’t significantly impact the story, so feel free to pick whichever option you prefer.

Shortly after, the two of you will start reading the books Penny prepared.

Learning about Godric Gryffindor requires earning five stars within three hours. All five stars are needed to pass, which is why you shouldn’t start this task if your energy bar is empty.

Be sure to slide the screen left and right to see all the available actions. There is a bonus progress action linked to your character, so focus on that one if you want to save some energy.

After reading through the books, you’ll realize that all of them mention Godric’s Hollow, which is the birthplace of Godric Gryffindor.

You and Penny will recall some other interesting facts about that place.

You’ll also remember there is a famous cemetery there. Perhaps that’s where Gryffindor was buried? Still, Penny will say there is a possibility things might not go as expected.

Suddenly, Merula will approach you and notice that you are reading up on Godric Gryffindor.

The following lines of dialogue will differ, depending on your previous choice.

Moments later, the Most Powerful Witch at Hogwarts will leave the library. Unfortunately, you won’t know where she is planning to go.

Penny will tell you about one bad habit Merula has. She’ll grin and suggest taking a peek at the books Merula has been reading.

You’ll like her idea. The two of you will take a look at the pile of books Merula left. Penny will realize that she’s been reading the same books two of you did.

She will also point at the book she couldn’t find earlier. Upon taking a closer look, she’ll find out that one of the pages is missing… the one about Godric Gryffindor’s birthplace.

You’ll quickly realize that Merula is most likely headed to Godric’s Hollow. Luckily, that means she is not too far ahead of you, so you still have the chance to find the sword before she does.

You’ll decide to get Ben and head to Godric’s Hollow as soon as possible.
