Chapter 1 – Year four begins

Hello everyone, welcome to our Walkthrough for Chapter One of Year Four of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. During the previous year, you managed to accomplish a lot of things. You learned many valuable lessons, made some new friends, some new rivals.

You even found some new information about your brother, but most importantly, you entered another Cursed Vault and broke the curse.

Now is the time for some new lessons, some new excitements, and some new adventures, so hit that Start button to begin the first chapter of Year Four!

You’ll find yourself in the Great Hall. Immediately, you’ll notice that several characters have speech bubbles above them. Tap on those if you want to see what they have to say.

When you are done, tap on the exclamation mark to join Penny and Rowan. You’ll notice that Ben is terrified of a mysterious red-haired woman standing next to Professor Dumbledore. Penny will suggest you talk to him.

You can choose whether you want to check on Ben or not. Each choice will grant you five attribute points, but if you decide to check on Ben, some bits of the story will change later on.

What follows is the Headmaster’s traditional welcoming speech during which he will mention the events related to the Cursed Vaults that happened in the previous year.

Because of all that happened, Professor Dumbledore decided to seek the help of Patricia Rakepick, a renowned curse-breaker, and his former student.

Madam Rakepick will introduce herself. After graduating from Hogwarts she became the Head Curse-Breaker at Gringotts Wizarding Bank. When she was at Hogwarts a long time ago, she believed that the Cursed Vaults exist, but nobody believed her. She will triumphantly mention that Hogwarts finally admitted its mistake and called her.

She will invite students who have experience with the Cursed Vaults to describe what they’ve witnessed, but she will warn everyone that nobody should intervene without her permission.

Once the speech is over, tap on the exclamation mark to initiate the conversation with Hagrid. He’ll tell you that he needs your help with something.

Your next task will be meeting Hagrid in the Clocktower Courtyard. If you decided to check on Ben earlier on, he’ll also come along.

Once you arrive, you’ll notice Tulip sitting near the fountain. Apparently, she was sleepwalking into the Forbidden Forest. Thankfully, Hagrid saw her in time.

If Ben is with you, he’ll say a few things about Madam Rakepick. After some more talking, you’ll be tasked with casting Episkey to cure Tulip’s headache. Trace the wand movement on the screen to successfully perform this charm.

Thankfully, the spell will work. Shortly after, Tulip will go to the Hospital Wing. Your next story task is to visit her there. There is a waiting period of three hours before you can proceed. Instead, you can go and attend your first Care of Magical Creatures lesson of the year. 

When you get to the class, you’ll be able to interact with some of the other students by tapping on their speech bubbles.

After that, you’ll talk to Charlie and Ben for a bit, right before Merula interferes and starts throwing taunts your way.

Charlie will offer to talk to her in your stead. You have two response options. Accepting his offer will not only give you ten Empathy points, but will also lead to quite the hilarious dialogue between him and Merula, so it is definitely recommended to pick this option as long as your Empathy level is seventeen or higher.

After that, Professor Kettleburn will gather the students and explain what the lesson is about.

To complete it, you need to earn five stars within eight hours. Since all five stars are required to pass, having full energy before starting is somewhat recommended.

This lesson behaves quite similarly to other classes you’ve had so far. As always – tap on the glowing objects to complete actions. This will fill up the star meter, and eventually, you will earn stars for your efforts.

And as usual, after you earn each of the stars, you will be offered a mini-task. Completing it successfully will award you ten Courage points.

Once you are done, hit the Collect button to claim your rewards and continue. Before dismissing the class, Professor Kettleburn will warn everyone that his Chimaera escaped recently.

You will be able to collect an additional reward in the Care of Magical Creatures section of your Hogwarts Record.

The second lesson of the chapter is Herbology. Hit the GO button and proceed to the Greenhouse.

To unlock the Wiggentree lesson, you need to obtain a total of six stars from the Herbology classes. There are several different ways to accomplish this.

The fastest one is by doing three one-hour classes. But if you want some additional rewards, you might want to consider doing two three-hour or two eight-hour classes. Once you’ve made up your mind, hit the Start button to begin.

Approach these classes in the same manner as any of the previous ones you had. Prioritize bonus progress actions to optimize energy usage.

Also, pay attention to the mini-tasks since completing those successfully will reward you with some additional Empathy points.

As soon as you are done with these classes, the Wiggentree lesson will be unlocked, so head back to the Herbology classroom to attend it.

Once you enter, you’ll be able to interact with some of the students by tapping on their speech bubbles.

Afterward, Professor Sprout will hold a short introductory speech before the lesson begins.

To complete this one, you need to obtain five stars within three hours. Since all five stars are required to pass, avoid starting this lesson if your energy bar is empty.

There should be a decent number of bonus progress actions available, which should save you some energy.

During the lesson, Professor Sprout will ask you a question about Wiggentrees.

Lastly, once you obtain all five stars, you’ll need to fertilize your Wiggentree. Trace the path on the screen to perform this action.

Once you’re done, hit the Collect button to claim your rewards and continue. You’ll be able to collect an additional reward in the Herbology section of your Hogwarts Record.

Now that the lessons are done, you can resume the story. Hit the GO button and proceed to the Hospital Wing to meet Tulip.

When you arrive, you will find Madam Pomfrey tending to one of the students who sleepwalked into the Forbidden Forest and was attacked by some of its denizens.

Apparently, it’s not the first time something like this has happened. Some years ago, some of the students were ravaged and devoured by creatures in the Forest, and some never woke up.

Madam Pomfrey will let you visit Tulip, and you’ll go to check on your friend. This is your next task. In order to complete it, you need to earn five stars within one hour. Only one star is required to pass, which should be fairly easy to accomplish.

Make sure to slide the screen left and right to see all the available actions. There are bonus progress actions tied to Madam Pomfrey, Tulip, your character, and one of the patients. Prioritize those actions to save energy.

You will suspect that the next Cursed Vault is in the Forbidden Forest but you will be puzzled why the curse is sending sleepwalkers towards it. Then, Madam Rakepick will approach you because she overheard your conversation.

She will remind you that Cursed Vaults are no longer your concern but hers. You will mention that you have to find them because you must find out what happened to your brother.

Madam Rakepick will ask if you will be willing to help her find the Cursed Vaults. You have two options to respond with.

Each choice will award you five attribute points, but the general outcome of the story will not be affected, so feel free to select the option you prefer. Your next task will be meeting Madam Rakepick on the Training Grounds for a special lesson.

However, there is a waiting period of three hours before you are able to proceed. Since you will likely be low on energy at this point, it is recommended to wait and let your energy recharge in the meantime.

Once the waiting time is over, head to the Training Grounds to meet Madam Rakepick. She will explain to you the importance of the Shield Charm and will offer to teach you that spell.

In order to learn it, you need to obtain five stars within three hours. One star is required to pass.

This lesson behaves like a story task. There is a bonus progress action linked to your character. Prioritizing it should save you a bit of energy.

When you are done, Rakepick will tell you to prepare to shield yourself as she casts the Blasting Curse at you.

She’ll stand in front of you and ask if you’re ready. There are two options to reply with.

Selecting the first option is recommended as long as your Courage attribute is seventeen or higher. This will not only give you ten Courage points, but you’ll also get ten House Points for your bravery. Afterward, trace the wand movement on the screen to cast Protego.

The Shield Charm will work and you will successfully block Madam Rakepick’s spell. For the next task, you need to meet Tulip in the West Corridor.

On your way there, you’ll encounter Professor Kettleburn who will be looking for a loose Chimaera. After he explains the situation, you’ll be able to react to it in two ways.

If your Courage is level seventeen or higher, it is recommended to go with the first option since it will award you ten Courage and ten House Points.

Afterward, proceed to the Corridor to Meet Tulip. When you arrive, Tulip will tell you about her conversation with Madam Rakepick.

Madam Rakepick questioned her about her sleepwalking incident and the Cursed Vaults. Tulip decided to follow Madam Rakepick, witnessing the interrogation of the House Elves in the Kitchens, until Professor Snape arrived.

The two of you will spy on Madam Rakepick and Professor Snape. You will learn from their conversation that another curse has been unleashed. It was more than likely caused by someone’s meddling with a Cursed Vault.

You’ll also learn that Madam Rakepick and Professor Snape are not particularly fond of one another. Shortly after, the chapter will come to an end. Hit the Collect button to claim your rewards. You will receive 250 Coins and 1200 Experience points. This will also add Andre Egwu to your list of friends.

What an interesting chapter! The fourth year has just begun and things are already getting pretty exciting. And Madam Rakepick is certainly not an ordinary witch.
