(Disclaimer: This walkthrough will feature the gameplay from the perspective of a graduate student. Since the adventure is available for students of Year 3 and above, the star and attribute requirements for certain tasks might be different for you, depending on your current progress with the main story.)
Proceed to the Clocktower Courtyard when you are ready. Upon arriving, you’ll notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you’re curious to see what they have to say. When you arrive, you’ll see your friends waiting for you, and Penny will say that now that you’re here, you can finally begin. You’ll be curious about what’s going on and ask if everything is all right.
Penny will tell you that everything is more than all right and that everyone is happy and safe at Hogwarts. She’ll suggest spending a brilliant day with friends playing a game of Gobstones.
You’ll notice that she has invited players from every Hogwarts house, and you’ll ask her if that was intentional. She’ll say that she only meant to invite good friends and great Gobstones players, but she’ll admit that it seems you’re right and that there appears to be something of a house competition on your hands.
Ben will comment that Gobstones is a game of action, not endless strategizing and that one must be bold and decisive to win.
Merula will notice that you’re unusually quiet, and she’ll ask you how you feel about the competition among the Hogwarts houses. There are three different options to choose from. These options will influence some dialogue that will follow, but they won’t impact the story.
This line will differ based on your previous choice.
Andre will say that if you want to settle a question of such magnitude, it will require more than a game of Gobstones. Penny will agree with him and say that as long as it’s in the spirit of fun, she is happy to change games. Following that, you’ll suggest that everyone pitch ideas for a fun and friendly contest. This line will differ based on your previous choice.
To complete the next task, you need to earn five stars within three hours. Three stars are required to pass. Since this task requires a lot of energy, it is recommended to start it with a full energy bar.
Bonus progress actions are tied to Ben, Penny, and your character. Prioritize these actions to save some energy.
You’ll all agree that you need a challenge that speaks to each house’s range of talent and abilities, and Penny will add that it would be fair to have an objective assessment of those abilities because you can’t be trusted to judge yourselves.
You’ll explain that total house points reflect the balanced judgment of all your teachers, so there’ll be no house bias, and that students receive points in all categories of achievement rather than just one area.
However, Merula and Andre will say that you can’t wait the entire year to find out which house wins the house cup. You’ll say that your idea is to focus on the next few days and that the house with the most points in the next few days wins.
Penny will also suggest that you hold your competition among yourselves so that the professors won’t get wind of it and so that they won’t influence the points they want to give. You’ll agree with Penny and add that students can earn points in any number of ways. Then you’ll suggest that everyone go to their Common room and strategize with their respective houses.
(This task and location will differ based on which house you are in.)
Go to Gryffindor House to continue the story. Upon arriving, you’ll notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you’re curious to see what they have to say. Ben will say that he’s gathered everyone he can and that they’re all waiting to hear more about your house points contest. You’ll thank Ben for that and say that everyone must work together to win. Then, you’ll greet all your other friends.
You’ll add that if Gryffindor is going to win, you need to earn more house points than any other house in the next few days. Shortly after, you’ll suggest brainstorming some plans to earn loads of house points. To decide your strategy, you need to earn five stars within three hours. All five stars are required to pass. Since this task requires a lot of energy, it is recommended to start it with a full energy bar.
There are many bonus progress actions here, and they are tied to the girl next to Jae, Corey, Jae Charlie, and your character. Prioritize these actions to save some energy. Slide the screen left and right to check all available actions
When you finish, you’ll agree that in order to earn as many house points as possible, you need to approach as many professors as possible.
You’ll say that you just can’t overdo it because if too many students approach the same professor, you might annoy them, and the plan could backfire. Then you’ll suggest that you decide who you’ll approach and which professors, so you won’t accidentally double up.
Ben will remind you that each professor thinks differently, and what works with one might not work with another. Ben will also say that Professor Snape, due to his character, will be the toughest. He’ll suggest that you should get him out of the way first, so if things go wrong, you’ll have plenty of time to recover.
Ben will comment that it’s hard to impress Professor Snape, but that every professor appreciates well-done schoolwork, and if you show the teacher that you’re excelling in their lessons, you’re bound to have luck.
But he’ll warn you again to be careful with Professor Snape and ask you what approach you think is most likely to earn house points from him. There are three different options to choose from. These options will influence some dialogue that will follow, but they won’t impact the story.
Following that, Ben will suggest that you start with Professor Snape.
Proceed to the Potions Classroom when you are ready. When you arrive, you’ll realize that this is your first chance to earn some points for Gryffindor in the house points contest. This line will differ based on your previous choice.
Then you’ll approach Professor Snape, who will behave as usual.
These lines will differ based on your previous choice.
Professor Snape will be suspicious but will say that since your schoolwork isn’t enough to keep you off him, he’s happy to provide you with more. These lines will differ based on which house you belong to.
Following that, he’ll tell you that he wants you to make a Swelling Solution potion, which you’ll gladly accept, adding that you think he’ll be very impressed with your results. To brew a Swelling Solution, you need to earn five stars within three hours. All five stars are required to pass. Since this task requires a lot of energy, it is recommended to start it with a full energy bar.
The bonus progress actions are tied to your character. Prioritize these actions to save some energy.
When you finish, you’ll ask Professor Snape what he thinks of the potion, and he’ll take it and smell it.
Luckily, your potion is prepared excellently, and Professor Snape will praise you, albeit in his own way.
He will say that you have consumed enough of his time and that he must return to work, and then he’ll ask if you perhaps wanted something else. It is recommended that you choose the second option in order for Professor Snape to give you points for your house.
These lines will differ based on your previous choice and based on which house you belong to.
Following that, you’ll decide to meet with Professor Flitwick to see if he might give you house points and ensure that you come out on top.
Go to the Charms Classroom to continue the story. You’ll greet Professor Flitwick and tell him that you hope you’re not interrupting him. These lines will differ based on the house you belong to.
Professor Flitwick will say that he can’t talk about that, but maybe he can talk about what inspired your visit. You’ll tell him that, actually, it’s more related to your visit than he might think, and suggest showing your work with the wand to impress and maybe earn some house points.
To wow Flitwick, you need to earn five stars within three hours. All five stars are required to pass. Since this task requires a lot of energy, it is recommended to start it with a full energy bar.
The bonus progress actions are tied to Professor Flitwick. Prioritize these actions to save some energy.
Professor Flitwick will be impressed with your wand work and praise you, and you will tell him that you are skilled because you have good teachers.
You’ll thank Professor Flitwick for the points and feel quite happy, but then he’ll ask you if you’re up for a bonus round. You’ll be curious about what he means, and he’ll explain that charms require both physical ability and a deep knowledge of magic.
He’ll mention that one of the charms you performed was the ever-useful Lumos, and one of its variations, Lumos Solem, is quite useful against a particularly clingy magical plant. Then, he’ll pose a question to you. There are three options to choose from. The correct answer is ”Devil’s Snare.”
If you answered correctly, you will get an additional fifteen house points.
You’ll express your gratitude to Professor Flitwick, and then he’ll leave the classroom. This line will differ based on your previous choice.
Then you’ll decide to go and find out just how many points you need to win.
This will conclude Part 1 of House Points Adventure. Hit the Collect button to claim your reward. You will receive 300 Coins.
