Hello everyone, welcome to Part 1 of our Walkthrough for Nastily Exhausting Wizarding Tests of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. It is finally time for you to take the N.E.W.T.s. Will you be able to complete them and earn a passing score in all of the subjects? Time to find out!

Walkthrough

Once you start the adventure, Professor Dumbledore will ask everyone to gather in the Great Hall for a special announcement, so go there when you are ready. Before continuing, it is worth noting that you will receive an extra point for every subject you studied earlier during the N.E.W.T.s mini-adventures.

Upon arriving, you will be able to interact with some of your friends and see what they have to say. Moments later, Professor Dumbledore will ask for everyone’s attention and say that it’s time for students of Year 7 to take the N.E.W.T.s.

You will notice that Penny is pretty excited about the upcoming tests.

The Headmaster will go on and say that Professor Tofty is going to be in charge of the N.E.W.T.s.

Penny will wonder if you’ve been studying recently. Your answer will differ, depending on the number of the N.E.W.T. mini-adventures you completed.

Professor Tofty will say that the N.E.W.T.s are going to be much harder than the O.W.L.s. Once again, Penny will be pretty excited about it, and she’ll ask if you agree with her. There are two options to reply with. If you like Penny, it is recommended to select the first option.

Professor Tofty will go on and say that each subject has a written and a practical exam. After completing your exam, you will be assigned one of six scores for each subject. There are three passing scores and three failing scores.

Penny will assure you that there is nothing to worry about. Still, you won’t be completely sure about it. Professor Tofty will advise everyone to start revising immediately since the N.E.W.T.s examination period will start soon.

According to some things Penny heard, the hardest tests are Potions, Charms, and Herbology. She’ll ask which you are most prepared for. This choice won’t significantly impact the story, so feel free to select the option you prefer.

Shortly after, Penny and you will start strategizing on the best way to revise. To complete this task, you need to earn five stars within three hours. Three stars are required to pass.

There is a bonus progress action tied to Barnaby. Prioritize it to save a bit of energy.

By the looks of it, many of your friends are preparing for some late-night revising sessions. You will figure out that everyone will do better if they stick together. Professor Dumbledore will approach you and say that he agrees with you. He will also inform you that Olivia wants to have a word with you.

Go to her classroom when you are ready to continue. Olivia will be glad to see you, and she’ll smile at you before making a N.E.W.T. pun.

She will then tell you that she has some tips for you. Learning her N.E.W.T.s tips is your next task. To complete it, you need to earn five stars within three hours. All five stars are required to pass.

There is a bonus progress action tied to Olivia. Prioritize it to save some energy.

You will thank Olivia for the tips. She’ll remind you to study plant properties, small creatures, and advanced spells. She will then ask how you are feeling about the upcoming exams. There are three options to choose from. This choice won’t significantly impact the story, so feel free to pick any of the options.

You’ll decide to meet up with your friends and start revising. Before you leave, Olivia will tell you that passing the N.E.W.T.s qualifies you for various careers beyond Hogwarts. According to her, doing well on the N.E.W.T.s can open up some doors you didn’t even know existed.

Shortly after, you will leave the classroom and head to the library. Olivia will wish you good luck before you go. Once you arrive, you will spot the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you are curious to see what they have to say. You will notice that some of your friends are looking worried about the upcoming exams. You will cheerfully tell them about your meeting with Olivia.

Barnaby will inform you that the Herbology N.E.W.T. is up first. You’ll tell him what Olivia mentioned earlier.

Barnaby will thank you for that and ask how you are feeling about the tests. Your previous choice will take effect here.

You’ll then ask your friends to tell you how they are feeling. To complete this task, you need to earn five stars within three hours. Three stars are required to pass.

There is a bonus progress action tied to Chiara. Focus on it if you want to save a bit of energy.

You will learn that everyone is stressed out about the exams. Barnaby will tell you that he’s been awake for days. You have three options to reply with. If you are concerned about Barnaby, it is recommended to select the first or third option.

Barnaby will tell you that he’ll never forget what he’s learned for the N.E.W.T.s. If you completed the Trouble Brewing adventure, you will get an additional dialogue line here.

Shortly after, it will be time for your first N.E.W.T. Go to the Herbology classroom when you are ready. Upon arriving, you’ll be able to interact with some of your friends and see what they have to say. You will approach Professor Tofty and greet him. The following lines will differ based on whether or not you completed Take the O.W.L.s adventure.

Moments later, the Herbology N.E.W.T. will begin. The first part of the test will be a written exam. During it, you will need to answer several questions about various plants and their properties.

Below are all the questions and answers.

• Which Charm makes plants grow quickly? – Herbivicus
• Which plant has a black stem with white flowers and can counteract enchantments? – Moly
• This plant’s purple flowers are used in potions, but its leaves are quite toxic. – Aconite
• Who wrote One Thousand Magical Herbs and Fungi? – Phyllida Spore
• What does Bubotuber pus smell like? – Petrol
• When does a Fluxweed need to be picked to be used in Polyjuice Potion? – During a full moon
• Which plant repels Gulping Plimpies? – Gurdyroot

When you are done, the practical part of the exam will start. First, you will need to water your Bouncing Bulb. To do that, you need to keep the icon in the green zone until it is fully lit.

Next, you will need to fertilize the Alihotsy plant. This is a relatively simple tracing task.

After that, you will be tasked with reviewing the properties of Asphodel. This is a memorize-and-match task.

Lastly, you will need to care for the Shrivelfig plant. This is a focus task.

Once you are done, Penny will tell you that she found the test quite difficult. She’ll want to hear your opinion. This choice won’t have any big impact on the story, so feel free to select either option.

Not long after that, it will be time for the Potions N.E.W.T. Head to the Potions classroom when you are ready. When you arrive, you will notice the speech bubbles above some of your classmates. Tap on them if you want to see what they have to say.

Chiara will approach you and say that you arrived a little early. You’ll hope that everyone did well on the Herbology N.E.W.T. She will tell you she’s worried about Barnaby.

You’ll decide to check on him. You will take a look around the classroom, but sadly, you won’t see Barnaby anywhere.

Your next task is to ask around and find out if anyone knows where Barnaby is. To complete this task, you need to earn five stars within three hours. Three stars are required to pass.

This task is divided into two sections. The first section lasts until you fill up half of the entire star meter. During it, you will find a bonus progress action tied to your character.

During the second part of this task, you will find another bonus progress action tied to your character. Prioritize it to save a bit of energy.

According to some of your classmates, Barnaby was last seen wandering towards the Magical Creatures Reserve. Unfortunately, before you get the chance to look for him, Professor Tofty will enter the classroom and ask everyone to settle down.

You’ll quickly tell him that Barnaby is missing and ask if he can give you a few minutes to find him. Sadly, he’ll say that he cannot delay the Potions N.E.W.T.

You will get to pick one of three options to convince Professor Tofty to change his mind. While all three options lead to a similar outcome, if you like Barnaby, it is recommended to pick the first option.

Thankfully, you will manage to convince Professor Tofty to give you some time to find Barnaby. However, you will need to be quick, otherwise, both you and Barnaby will fail the Potions N.E.W.T.

Luckily, Chiara will offer to go with you. With her help, you should be able to find your missing friend faster.

You’ll thank her for that. You will also thank Professor Tofty for delaying the test. He’ll advise you to be quick if you are to make it back in time.
