Introduction
Hello everyone, welcome to Part 1 of our Walkthrough for Pumpkin Johnny Rises Adventure of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. This adventure is available for students of Year 3 Chapter 9 and above, and once you unlock it, you will have four days and nine hours to complete it. Shortly after starting the adventure, you’ll discover the scary results of Ismelda’s strong obsession with a pumpkin-headed trickster. If you don’t act fast, Hogwarts students could be in trouble.

(Disclaimer: Task 1 is different depending on whether you have completed the first Pumpkin Johnny quest. This Walkthrough contains Task 1 after completing The Tale of Pumpkin Johnny Adventure and also will feature the gameplay from the perspective of a graduate student. Since the adventure is available for students of Year 3 and above, the star and attribute requirements for certain tasks might be different for you, depending on your current progress with the main story.)
Go to the Clocktower Courtyard to meet Ismelda. Upon arriving, you’ll notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you’re curious to see what they have to say. When you arrive, you’ll approach Ismelda.
You’ll express surprise, mentioning that you didn’t expect Ismelda to put up fliers, but she’ll correct you, explaining that they are not regular fliers but rather propaganda recruitment posters. Your curiosity will prompt you to ask about the purpose of the recruitment.
She’ll mention that she usually feels sick of organized holidays but she’ll add that Halloween is an exception. Then, she’ll want to know what your favorite thing about Halloween is. There are three different options to choose from. All of them will eventually lead to the same outcome, so feel free to take your pick.
A little while later, you’ll ask her about the posters, and she’ll share her favorite thing about Halloween to help you grasp the posters’ purpose. To complete the next task, you need to earn five stars within three hours. Three stars are required to pass.
Bonus progress actions are tied to Penny, Ismelda, and your character. Prioritize these actions to save some energy. Slide the screen left and right to check all available actions.
Once you finish talking, you’ll learn that Ismelda’s favorite thing about Halloween is The Tale of Johnny Pumpkin.
She’ll mention that the most exciting aspects of Halloween are madness, mayhem, and murder. You’ll respond by saying you don’t recall any murder in the Johnny Pumpkin story. Then, you’ll recall the tale, explaining that Pumpkin Johnny was a Hogwarts student who had a deep love for pumpkins, spending hours in the pumpkin patch looking after them.
Ismelda will say it’s sad, but she’ll reassure you that the story has a happy ending by mentioning that Pumpkin Johnny escaped to the Forbidden Forest.
You’ll be uncertain about whether it’s a happy ending. In response, she’ll share a spooky legend, saying that if you tap on a pumpkin and say Pumpkin Johnny’s name three times, he might return to give you nightmares.
You’ll tell her that some people think it’s just a legend, implying that she’s asking you if you believe in Pumpkin Johnny. There are two options to choose from. If you like Ismelda, it is recommended to pick the second option. These options will influence some dialogue that will follow, but they won’t impact the story.
Ismelda will explain that the story has spread all around Hogwarts, and as a result, Pumpkin Johnny has become more popular than ever. She’ll also mention that he’s likely to be the most popular costume choice this year.
She will explain that the posters are the reason why she called you and offered you a highly coveted personal invitation. She’ll ask if you would like to join. There are two different options to choose from. All of them will eventually lead to the same outcome, so feel free to take your pick.
Shortly after, she’ll suggest you come to the meeting. This line will differ based on your first choice.
She’ll tell you that during the meeting, she’ll reveal her plan to bring back Pumpkin Johnny. This line will differ based on your previous choice.
Proceed to the Great Hall when you are ready to continue the story. Upon arriving, you’ll notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you’re curious to see what they have to say. You’ll approach your friends and greet them.
You’ll realize that you’re the only Ben, Tonks, and you there and will ask Tonks if you might be early or late. Tonks will assure you that you’re right on time but mention the lack of enthusiasm for Ismelda’s fan club. After a short while, Ismelda will arrive, clearly disappointed that you’re the only one who showed up.
This line will differ based on whether you completed the Tale of Pumpkin Johnny Adventure.
You’ll attempt to reassure her, mentioning that she has three potential candidates. Ben will jest that he’s just there for the sweets, and Tonks will say that she came because she wanted to see what turned Ismelda into a fan witch.
If you haven’t agreed to join Ismelda’s society, you’ll have an extra line of dialogue, otherwise, she’ll thank you and mention that you are the only one who takes her seriously. This line will differ based on your second choice.
Then Ismelda will suggest you hear her plan about bringing Pumpkin Johnny back. To complete the next task, you need to earn five stars within three hours. All five stars are required to pass. Since this task requires a lot of energy, it is recommended to start this task with a full energy bar.
Following that, you’ll learn that Ismelda’s idea is to restore Halloween to its darker beginnings, making it genuinely frightening. She’ll comment that students experience Halloween as a Muggle Bank holiday and there’s no fear left.
She will say that her plan is to summon Pumpkin Johnny and convince him to do her bidding. There are three options to choose from. Both of them will eventually lead to the same outcome, so feel free to take your pick.
Later, she’ll add that this Halloween will be unforgettable for everyone. This line will differ based on your previous choice.
Go to the Hagrid’s Garden to help Hagrid harvest pumpkins. When you arrive he’ll thank you for coming to help him.
But before you start Hagrid will ask you if you know anything about the flier he found. There are two options to choose from. If you like Hagrid, it is highly recommended to tell the truth.
After that, Hagrid will say that he has a warning for you and that you should listen to him closely. To heed Hagrid’s warning, you need to earn five stars within three hours. Three stars are required to pass.
Bonus progress actions are tied to Hagrid and your character. Prioritize these actions to save some energy.
Hagrid will advise you not to mess around with Pumpkin Johnny because bad things can happen. If you mention that Pumpkin Johnny is just a tall tale, you’ll receive additional lines of dialogue.
Hagrid will then mention that he’s heard about a few students disappearing while searching for Pumpkin Johnny. This line will differ based on whether you told Hagrid the truth.
He’ll then express his hope that you’ll take his advice seriously. There are two options to choose from. If you like Hagrid, it is recommended to pick the first option. Both of them will eventually lead to the same outcome, so feel free to take your pick.
After that, he’ll say it’s time for him to take care of his garden and ask you to be careful. This line will differ based on whether you agreed to heed Hagrid or not.
Shortly after that, Tonks will appear suddenly.
You’ll ask her what’s going on, and she’ll tell you that you should come with her because something has happened to Ismelda.
Proceed to the Boathouse at the Black Lake when you are ready. When you get there, you’ll see Ismelda looking scared. You’ll approach her and ask if she’s alright. You’ll also notice that she’s not wearing her usual scarf.
You’ll notice that Ismelda is really upset and Tonks will ask you how you can calm her down. There are three different options to choose from. The correct option you should choose is the second one. If you choose the wrong answer, you will be able to choose other options again.
Shortly after that, Ismelda will be better and tell you that something terrible has happened. You’ll suggest that she tell you everything in detail. To complete the next task, you need to earn five stars within three hours. All five stars are required to pass. Since this task requires a lot of energy, it is recommended to start this task with a full energy bar.
There is only one bonus progress action tied to Ismelda. Prioritize this action to save some energy.
You’ll learn that after the Society for the Appreciation of Pumpkin Johnny ended, Ismelda summoned Pumpkin Johnny by knocking on a pumpkin three times and saying his name. She’ll also mention that as a result, she had a frightening nightmare.
Tonks will say it doesn’t seem like something that should scare Ismelda that much, so you’ll ask if there’s more to the story. Ismelda will explain that after she woke up, she felt a strong urge to go to the graveyard. She’ll add that when she got there, her dreams turned real, and she saw Pumpkin Johnny. At first, she felt excited, but then he suddenly attacked her, gripping her scarf tightly and not letting go.
Ismelda will tell you that she thought Tonks wouldn’t believe her and will then ask if you believe her. There are two options to choose from. If you like Ismelda, it is recommended to pick the first option. These options will influence some dialogue that will follow, but they won’t impact the story.
Afterward, you’ll suggest that you analyze the situation a little better.
Tonks will propose that Ismelda should go back to Hogwarts Castle to rest.
With fear, Ismelda will say that you shouldn’t go there by yourself. This line will differ based on your previous choice.
