Introduction

Hello everyone, welcome to Part 1 of our Walkthrough for The Lost Prophecy Adventure of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. Penny and Ben uncover a fascinating scroll in the Hogwarts library that might hold a hidden prophecy! Can you unravel the mysterious text with the help of Penny, Ben, Professor Dumbledore, and a thrilling new friend before time runs out?

Walkthrough

(Disclaimer: This walkthrough will feature the gameplay from the perspective of a graduate student. Since the adventure is available for students of Year 2 and above, the star and attribute requirements for certain tasks might be different for you, depending on your current progress with the main story.)

Proceed to the Great Hall when you are ready to talk with Penny. Upon arriving, you’ll notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you’re curious to see what they have to say. Penny will be very excited when you arrive, so you’ll ask her what’s going on and why she’s so excited.

Ben’s reactions will differ depending on what year you attend.

Penny will say that they’ve been waiting for you to read what’s in the scroll. She’ll add that she hopes the scroll contains recipes for rare and exciting new potions. Ben’s line will differ depending on what year you attend.

Following that, your Hufflepuff friend will ask you what you think is hidden in the scroll. There are three different options to choose from. All of them will eventually lead to the same outcome, so feel free to take your pick.

Penny will say she can’t wait any longer and has to find out what’s in the scroll. She’ll suggest that you finally read the mysterious scroll to see if any of you were right. To read the scroll, you need to earn five stars within three hours. Three stars are required to pass.

Bonus progress actions are tied to the scroll and your character. Prioritize these actions to save some energy. 

When you read the scroll, you’ll comment that it seems to be written in another language. You’ll add that, based on the notes that fell out when you opened the scroll, it seems someone must have been translating it.

Ben’s reactions will differ depending on what year you attend.

You’ll say that one note reads “pureblood,” another says “at Hogwarts,” and the third one mentions “untimely death.” Penny will add that the drawings inside point to a Hogwarts subject that could make the notes even more frightening.

Ben will ask if you know which Hogwarts subject those drawings call to mind. The correct answer is ”Divination ”.

Penny will suggest that the notes you found could be part of some kind of deadly prophecy involving someone at Hogwarts. Ben’s reactions will differ depending on what year you attend.

However, you’ll tell your friends not to jump to conclusions early and suggest that you first talk to the person who wrote those notes before alarming anyone else. You’ll mention that if the scroll came from the library, it should have a check-out record that tells you who had the book last.

Penny will say that all sounds great, but there’s a problem—unlike a normal library book, the scroll has no check-out record. She’ll add that she remembers seeing someone with the scroll open in the library, but Madam Pince didn’t let her read it or check it out, saying it was still on loan to someone.

You’ll decide to go to the library to speak with Madam Pince in hopes of learning information about the person who wrote the notes.

Go to the Library to find Madam Pince. Upon arriving, you’ll notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you’re curious to see what they have to say. Unfortunately, when you arrive, Madam Pince won’t be there.

Merula will notice that you’re nervous and will approach you.

She’ll say she saw her and that you just missed her, adding that she didn’t say when she’d be back. You’ll ask if she knows where she went, and she’ll say she does, adding that if you want her help, you’ll have to earn it.

To earn Merula’s help, you need to earn five stars within three hours. All five stars are required to pass. Since this task requires a lot of energy, it is recommended to start it with a full energy bar.

The bonus progress actions are tied to the Slytherin student. Prioritize these actions to save some energy. Slide the screen left and right to check all available actions. 

You’ll explain to Merula that you need to talk to Madam Pince to find out who last had the mysterious, unreadable scroll. However, she’ll want to know what’s in the scroll. There are two options to choose from. If you like Merula, it is recommended to pick the first option.

Shortly after, Merula will tell you that Madam Pince has gone to speak with Professor Flitwick before going to Flourish & Blotts. 

Proceed to the Charms Classroom when you are ready to talk with Madam Pince. Luckily, you’ll arrive on time, and Madam Pince will be there. You’ll apologize for interrupting their conversation.

Professor Flitwick will say there’s no need to apologize and ask how he can help you. Before Madam Pince leaves for Flourish & Blotts, you’ll mention that you have a question for her.

However, she won’t be eager to reveal it, saying it’s private information. Fortunately, Professor Flitwick will come to your side, giving you the opportunity to try to convince Madam Pince to disclose it.

To convince Madam Pince, you need to earn five stars within three hours. Three stars are required to pass. Since this task requires a lot of energy, it is recommended to start it with a full energy bar.

Bonus progress actions are tied to Professor Flitwick and your character. Prioritize these actions to save some energy. 

When you finish explaining, she’ll perceive that you need that information for educational purposes. You’ll agree and mention that you’ve been having trouble reading the scroll Penny borrowed from the Library, and the person who wrote the notes could help you understand the content of that mysterious scroll.

She’ll then say that since your reasoning was sound, she’ll relay your message and let him know what you’ve told her. She’ll add that the decision will be up to him as to whether he wants to meet with you. There are three options to choose from. If you like Madam Pince, it is recommended to pick the first option.

Shortly after, she’ll tell you that she has to leave now and that she’ll send you an owl to let you know if the other student is willing to meet.

In the meantime, you’ll receive an owl from Madam Pince, which will say that the student who wrote the notes is waiting for you in the library.

Go to the Library to meet the student. Upon arriving, you’ll notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you’re curious to see what they have to say. You’ll wonder which student you’re supposed to meet, and shortly after, you’ll hear a voice, but you won’t see anyone amidst the large pile of books on the table.

You’ll introduce yourself and say that you’re glad you finally found him.

He’ll say that he’s been thinking about that puzzle all day and that he thinks he just glimpsed the answer. Then he’ll start to think deeply in his own way. 

You’ll find his way of thinking a bit strange, so you’ll ask him about it.

Finally, he’ll introduce himself to you.

Following that, he’ll say that he knows a lot about you, that he’s a year behind you, and that he belongs to Ravenclaw House.

This line will differ based on which house you belong to.

He’ll say that you probably haven’t heard or seen much of him because he spends all his time reading in the library. You’ll tell him that’s exactly what you wanted to talk to him about and that you have a scroll that was with him last time, containing his notes, so you’ll ask him if he can help you understand what they mean.

To learn about the scroll, you need to earn five stars within three hours. All five stars are required to pass. Since this task requires a lot of energy, it is recommended to start it with a full energy bar.

The bonus progress actions are tied to Lenny. Prioritize these actions to save some energy. Slide the screen left and right to check all available actions. 

Lenny will explain to you that the scroll isn’t in another language but is unreadable on purpose. He’ll add that it’s encoded with a cryptogram, his favorite kind of puzzle.

You’ll comment that it sounds complicated, and he’ll say that the cryptogram is among the hardest he’s seen, containing a variety of languages and image patterns in its code. He’ll add that it took him months to make any headway at all. 

He’ll add that Madam Pince is quite kind to him and allowed him to keep the scroll for so long. There are three options to choose from. If you like Lenny, it is recommended to pick the second option.

He’ll say that Madam Pince appreciates that he stays quiet, keeps to himself, and almost never takes a book out of the library. He’ll add that she let him keep working on the scroll’s cryptogram that whole time because she knew the scroll would be safe. 

Following that, you’ll ask him if he has any theories about the text, and he’ll explain that he was focused on the puzzle part and didn’t think much about the final text.

You’ll say that based on the drawings, you thought it might be a book concerned with Divination, adding that when you saw his notes about an “untimely death” at Hogwarts, you feared it was a book of dark prophecies.

He’ll add that the only way to know for certain would be to crack the cryptogram and decode the rest of the scroll. You’ll tell him that you and your friends think that someone at Hogwarts could be in danger.

Lenny will say that there’s one problem and that he returned the scroll because he no longer had ideas on how to solve it. He’ll add that there’s an image pattern in the cryptogram that he just hasn’t been able to crack. You’ll offer to start working on deciphering it together, which he’ll gladly accept, and he’ll be very excited about it.

He’ll then suggest that you meet in the Astronomy Tower to explain the part of the code that’s been giving him trouble.
