Hello everyone, welcome to our Walkthrough section for  A Secret Message of Love Part 1 of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. When Professor Sprout requests your help in nurturing a magical tree, you embark on a heartfelt journey filled with love and memories. Along the way, you’ll encounter Ted and Andromeda Tonks, Molly and Arthur Weasley, and a romantic partner of your choosing.

Proceed to the Herbology Classroom when you are ready. Professor Sprout will greet you warmly and explain that she just received a rather mysterious gift from an old friend. She’s hoping you can help her understand it better. According to her, the gift contains a hidden message of love, and she’ll begin to tell you more about it. Let’s hear what she has to say.

To discover the mystery, you need to earn five stars within three hours. Three stars are required to pass. 

Bonus progress actions are tied to Professor Sprout and your character. Prioritize these actions to save some energy. 

You’ll find out that an old friend from Japan sent her a graft from an enchanted Japanese maple tree. She’ll add that she and her friend met many years ago and have stayed in touch ever since, bonding over their shared love of Herbology.

She’ll say, while pointing to the small tree, that according to her old friend, the parent tree holds a powerful enchantment—and so does this graft. That’s where the hidden message of love comes in.

Her friend’s letter mentioned that the tree’s enchantment helped him understand the true meaning of love, and he sent this gift, hoping that she and her students would study it and come to the same realization.

However, Professor Sprout will admit that she’s been unable to uncover the tree’s secret on her own, so she’s called upon you for help. This line will differ based on which year you attend.

Following that, she’ll ask how you feel about uncovering the tree’s hidden message and discovering the true meaning of love. There are three different options to choose from. These options will influence some dialogue that will follow, but they won’t impact the story.

You’ll say that you’re eager to learn what sort of magical message of love this Japanese maple hides. Professor Sprout will smile warmly and add that magic born from love is among the most powerful of all—it is not to be underestimated. If you’ve completed The Curse of Love adventure, you’ll receive additional dialogue.

She’ll also mention that the letter which came with the tree included a poem, and that you should read it—perhaps it contains a clue about the hidden message. However, you’ll naturally decide that it might be best to get some help from your friends with this. So, let’s go meet with them and see what insights they might have.

Proceed to the Clocktower Courtyard when you are ready. Upon arriving, you’ll notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you’re curious to see what they have to say.

You thank your friends for coming and briefly explain that Professor Sprout received an enchanted tree that hides a magical message. Apparently, it reveals the true meaning of love, and she asked for your help in uncovering it.

Tonks will say it sounds like a great opportunity to help Professor Sprout and enjoy some time with friends along the way. She’ll add that she’s most excited about solving the mystery, as it makes her feel closer to becoming an Auror.

She’ll then turn to you and ask what you are looking forward to the most. There are three different options to choose from. These options will influence some dialogue that will follow, but they won’t impact the story.

Then you’ll read the poem aloud. After finishing, you’ll turn to your friends and say that they should listen carefully once more, in hopes of uncovering the poem’s true meaning.

To analyse the poem, you need to earn five stars within one hour. Three stars are required to pass.

The bonus progress actions are tied to your character. Prioritize these actions to save some energy. Slide the screen left and right to check all available actions. 

Together, you’ll realize that the poem speaks of growth—both the growth of a tree and the growth of love. To uncover the hidden message of love, you’ll need to help the tree grow. Since there isn’t much time, you’ll all agree to try using the Herbivicus Charm.

So, trace the wand movement to cast the spell.

Unfortunately, nothing will happen, which will strike you as odd—nearly any plant should grow at least a little from Herbivicus. This leads to the conclusion that the enchantment on the tree this graft came from must be responsible. 

Uncovering the true solution to reveal the hidden message won’t be as simple as casting a single spell.

Tonks will then offer a suggestion—why not head to the library and research everything you can about Japanese maples? Let’s get going right away.

Here, you’ll take Penny with you if you haven’t met Talbott yet. Since we have already met Talbott, he’ll be the one joining us in the library. This choice doesn’t affect the story in any major way—it simply leads to slightly different dialogue.

Go to the Library to continue the story. Upon arriving, you’ll notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you’re curious to see what they have to say.

You’ll thank Talbott for agreeing to help you out. If you’re dating Talbott, you’ll also get an extra line of dialogue reflecting your close relationship.

In any case, Talbott will mention that the poem that came with the tree sounded familiar. He’ll suggest that you might be able to find its original author and source. Since poetry and literature are among his interests, you’ll decide to start digging through the library’s collection together to investigate further.

To investigate charmed trees, you need to earn five stars within three hours. The five stars are required to pass. Since this task requires a lot of energy, it is recommended to start it with a full energy bar.

Bonus progress actions are tied to books, Talbott, and your character. Prioritize these actions to save some energy. 

You’ll discover that the poem is a direct quote from an old wizarding tale about an enchanted Japanese maple. In the story, a wizard gifted the tree to a witch as a way to learn if she returned his feelings. 

He asked her to nurture the tree just as she would nurture their bond. But the witch didn’t understand that the secret to helping the tree grow was to feed it love. Because of this, the tree never grew, and the wizard believed his love was unreciprocated. Heartbroken, he walked away forever.

Shortly after, Talbott will turn to you and ask what you think about the story. There are three different options to choose from. These options will influence some dialogue that will follow, but they won’t impact the story.

According to the story, the way to make the Japanese maple grow is to feed it love. You’ll decide to try a few different things and see what works. Talbott will first suggest using fertiliser, reasoning that it’s basically food for a plant. 

However, you’ll express doubt that ordinary fertiliser would work on a tree with such a strong enchantment. Your research indicated that enchanted trees often respond better to special fertilisers—even potions.

You’ll suggest that perhaps the best way to “feed” the tree with love would be to give it a Love Potion. 

That’s when Talbott will get an idea—Amortentia, the most powerful Love Potion known. It’s a perfect fit for the task, but brewing it requires great skill.

So, you’ll decide there’s only one person who can help with this: Penny Haywood, master of potions.

Proceed to the Potions Classroom when you are ready. When you arrive at the Potions classroom, you’ll find Penny already waiting, with all the ingredients for the potion carefully prepared. After a brief chat, she’ll curiously ask if you believe that Professor Sprout’s old friend sent her the Japanese maple as a confession of love.

There are two different options to choose from. Both of them will eventually lead to the same outcome, so feel free to take your pick.

Penny will then say that if she ever confessed her love to someone, she’d want to do it in a truly special way. She’ll turn to you with a curious smile and ask what kind of confession of love you would enjoy the most.

There are three different options to choose from. These options will influence some dialogue that will follow, but they won’t impact the story.

If you’re dating Penny, you’ll receive additional lines of dialogue that reflect your closer bond. In any case, you’ll both decide it’s time to begin brewing the Amortentia potion — the most powerful love potion known to wizardkind.

To brew Amortentia, you need to earn five stars within eight hours. Three stars are required to pass. 

The bonus progress actions are tied to Penny. Prioritize these actions to save some energy. 

Once you’re finished, Penny will remark that this might be the strongest batch of Amortentia she’s ever brewed. Both of you will hope that it works as intended. 

You’ll offer to help Penny clean up the mess made during the brewing process, but she’ll insist she can handle it on her own. She’ll encourage you to go ahead and try feeding the potion to the tree, but also remind you to be very careful not to harm the plant in the process.
