An Inky Giant Squid Part 2

VIDEO ADVERTISEMENT

Introduction

Hello everyone, welcome to Part 2 of our Walkthrough for An Inky Giant Squid Adventure of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. In the first part of our adventure, you arrived at the reserve and greeted Hagrid, commenting on how brilliant the place is and how incredible it is to be so close to Hogwarts. Hagrid mentioned that one of your creatures, the giant squid, has been behaving strangely, spouting ink all morning. You both suspected that the squid wasn’t feeling at home in the reserve and decided to do everything possible to make it feel better. You came up with a theory that finding its favorite treat might help, and you suggested devising a plan to investigate this.

Realizing that you might need help, you reached out to Tonks, who, despite knowing little about giant squids, was eager to assist. She mentioned that Fred and George Weasley, along with a few Hufflepuff students, fed toast to the giant squid in the Black Lake, which it seemed to love. This aligned with your and Hagrid’s theory that the right treat might calm your giant squid down.

After successfully gathering some bread slices, you toasted them with the help of a spell, and your sandwiches were ready. Tonks gladly joined you as you went to feed your giant squid, and she expressed her fondness for the creature. However, after feeding the squid and thinking you had solved the problem, it started spouting ink again, which left you frustrated.

You then wondered if perhaps the treat had only distracted the squid from whatever was really bothering it. Tonks suggested that the problem might not be food-related and asked what you thought. Despite the setback, you both remained determined to uncover the true cause of the squid’s distress.

Since the adventure is available for students of Year 3 and above, the star and attribute requirements for certain tasks might be different for you, depending on your current progress with the main story.)

Proceed to the Clocktower Courtyard when you are ready. Upon arriving, you’ll notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you’re curious to see what they have to say. When you arrive, you’ll greet Hagrid, and he’ll ask if you’ve figured out what your giant squid’s favorite treat is. You’ll respond that you and Tonks managed to do just that.

Hagrid will say that he didn’t know giant squids liked toast, adding that he’s been feeding them shrimp for years. He’ll also assume that this solved the ink-spouting problem, but you’ll explain that while your creature was calm while eating, it became agitated and started spouting ink again shortly afterward.

screenshot (579)

You’ll say that’s why you need his help, as he knows the creature reserve better than anyone. He’ll then suggest that you start brainstorming theories right away. To brainstorm theories, you need to earn five stars within eight hours. Three stars are required to pass.

Bonus progress actions are tied to Hagrid and your character. Prioritize these actions to save some energy.

Hagrid will suggest that your giant squid might have some unique habitat needs you’re not aware of yet, adding that giant squids are very smart and sensitive creatures, and they are also very particular about where they settle down.

Following that, Hagrid will ask which of the two problems you think it might be. There are two different options to choose from. These options will influence some dialogue that will follow, but they won’t impact the story.

screenshot (584)

You’ll thank Hagrid for his help and add that you know time is of the essence and that solving this mystery is your number one priority. You’ll also mention that Penny’s insight on Hogwarts’ giant squid was really helpful when Tonks and you were asking other students about it, and if anything is missing from your giant squid’s habitat, you’re certain Penny will help you sort it out.

screenshot (585)

Go to the Library to meet with Penny. Upon arriving, you’ll notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you’re curious to see what they have to say. When you arrive, Penny will say that Tonks mentioned you were having some trouble with your giant squid spouting ink and that you tried feeding it toast. You’ll respond that you did, and while your creature liked it, it didn’t solve the problem.

screenshot (586)

Penny will say that makes sense and that getting used to a new home is tough, adding that she still remembers her first year at Hogwarts. She missed so many things about her home, and she’ll ask what you missed most about your home when you first arrived at Hogwarts. There are three different options to choose from. These options will influence some dialogue that will follow, but they won’t impact the story.

screenshot (587)

Following that, Penny will say you can count on her to help, and you’ll thank her immensely. This line will differ based on your previous choice.

screenshot (588)

You’ll add that you can’t be certain until you figure out what the specific needs of a giant squid habitat are. Penny will suggest that you take a few books on creature care and sort out the elements of a perfect giant squid habitat. To research giant squid habitats, you need to earn five stars within three hours. All five stars are required to pass. Since this task requires a lot of energy, it is recommended to start it with a full energy bar.

Bonus progress actions are tied to the girl behind your character, Penny, and your character. Prioritize these actions to save some energy. Slide the screen left and right to check all available actions.

screenshot (590)

You’ll say that you’ve read that giant squids can live in both saltwater and freshwater, which explains why your creature lives in the Black Lake. You’ll also mention that they can act erratically when they feel out of place, which explains the ink-spouting.

screenshot (591)
screenshot (592)

Penny will say that must be it, and that your creature has not yet found the perfect underwater nest. This line will differ based on your previous choice.

screenshot (593)

You’ll decide to head underwater to help your giant squid find the perfect nesting spot. However, Penny will tell you that you’ll be underwater for a while and that you should first practice your Bubble-Head Charm before diving into the open ocean. You’ll agree with her and head to Professor Flitwick immediately.

screenshot (594)

Proceed to the Training Grounds when you are ready. You’ll thank Professor Flitwick for meeting with you, and he’ll say he’s glad when students tell him they want to practice a charm outside of class. He’ll then ask why you need to practice the Bubble-Head Charm.

screenshot (595)

You’ll explain that you and your friends have been looking into what might be causing this mysterious behavior. Penny and you think there might be something going on in your giant squid’s underwater habitat, and you need to explore the floor of the open ocean to sort out the cause of your giant squid’s incessant ink-spouting.

screenshot (596)

He’ll say that before he agrees, he needs to know the main motive behind your actions. There are three different options to choose from. All of them will eventually lead to the same outcome, so feel free to take your pick.

screenshot (597)

In any case, you’ll convince Professor Flitwick to help you, and he’ll immediately suggest that you get started. To practice bubble-head charm, you need to earn five stars within three hours. Three stars are required to pass.

screenshot (598)

The bonus progress actions are tied to your character. Prioritize these actions to save some energy.

screenshot (599)

When you finish, you’ll successfully master the spell.

screenshot (601)

You’ll thank him for his help, but he’ll advise you not to go alone. You’ll tell him that you’ll take his advice and that you already have the perfect dive companion in mind.

screenshot (602)

Go to the Open Ocean to find a nesting spot. Penny will be thrilled and add that she can’t believe she’s swimming in the open ocean with an actual giant squid. She’ll thank you for taking her along.

screenshot (603)
screenshot (604)

Penny will say that your giant squid has followed you here and is not spouting ink. You’ll agree and mention that your squid friend seems a bit calmer now. You will then reassure your creature not to worry, saying that you’ll surely find the perfect nesting spot for it.

screenshot (606)

To find a nesting spot, you need to earn five stars within eight hours. All five stars are required to pass. Since this task requires a lot of energy, it is recommended to start it with a full energy bar.

screenshot (607)

Bonus progress actions are tied to the sunken boat, the rock, and your character. Prioritize these actions to save some energy. Slide the screen left and right to check all available actions.

screenshot (608)

You’ll both agree that you’ve found two ideal potential nesting spots for your creature friend: a sunken ship or a deep trench. Penny will say that, based on your research, giant squids prefer nesting spots with many hiding places, so the sunken ship is a perfect location.

However, you’ll add that while the ship has crevices ideal for hiding, it’s also a bit out in the open. On the other hand, the trench is dark and will keep your giant squid safe, but it’s quite large, making it harder to fend off predators.

Following that, Penny will ask you to decide which nesting spot is best for your creature. Choose the option that you like the most.

screenshot (609)

Whichever option you choose, your giant squid will like it.

screenshot (610)

Shortly after, you’ll thank Penny for her help. However, at one point, you’ll hear strange noises, which will understandably unsettle your squid friend.

screenshot (611)
screenshot (612)

You’ll be convinced that the creature making those noises is disturbing your friend. Penny will ask what could possibly scare such a massive creature as a giant squid, and you’ll say you don’t know but you’re certain you’ve discovered what’s causing the ink-spouting.

screenshot (613)

This will mark the end of Part 2 of An Inky Giant Squid  Adventure. Hit the Collect button to claim your reward. You will receive 3 Gems and 1 Chocolate Frog.
