Proceed to the Lakehore when you are ready. When you arrive, you’ll find Penny and Andre waiting for you by the lake. They’ll tell you that they wanted to take a little stroll to celebrate the start of the spooky season at Hogwarts—after all, Hallowe’en isn’t the only fun part of autumn! There are plenty of wonderful things to enjoy this time of year.
They’ll also mention that they’ve had some rather bizarre experiences around this season before, leading into a few dialogue lines that reference past Hallowe’en adventures.
Of course, strange things are happening once again this year. Penny and Andre will explain that they’ve heard rumors of screams echoing from the Forbidden Forest at night. As they speak, you’ll suddenly notice Ben lying unconscious nearby—and you’ll immediately rush over to check on him.
To investigate the scene, you need to earn five stars within three hours. Three stars are required to pass.

Bonus progress actions are tied to Andre and your character. Prioritize these actions to save some energy. Slide the screen left and right to check all available actions.

You’ll quickly notice that, luckily, Ben isn’t injured—but no matter what you try, you can’t seem to wake him up. It’s strange and unsettling. You’ll see that he’s been lying on a blanket, with a cassette player beside him and headphones still on his ears.
It seems that Ben was listening to a tape when he suddenly collapsed. Penny will be visibly shaken by the sight, her voice trembling with worry as she turns to you and asks what you think could have happened to Ben.
There are three different options to choose from. These options will influence some dialogue that will follow, but they won’t impact the story.

In any case, you’ll decide it’s best to take Ben to the Hospital Wing so Madam Pomfrey can examine him and make sure he’s all right.
Go to the Hospital Wing to continue the story. After Ben is examined in the Hospital Wing, Professor McGonagall will inform you that he’s unharmed and should wake up soon. She’ll thank you for bringing him in so quickly.
A few moments later, Ben finally regains consciousness, and you’ll immediately ask him what happened. Still shaken, he’ll say that he remembers—but his voice will tremble as he begins to tell you what really happened.
To discover what happened, you need to earn five stars within one hour. Three stars are required to pass. Since this task requires a lot of energy, it is recommended to start it with a full energy bar.

Ben will explain that he went down to the lakeshore to listen to a tape, hoping to relax for a bit—but something strange happened. He says he heard a horrifying scream echoing through the night, and then everything went dark.
His reaction will be slightly different depending on which year you’re in.

You tell him that you didn’t hear anyone screaming and that he probably heard it before you arrived. Professor McGonagall will add that you may be lucky in that regard, noting that there are things in the magical world that can kill with a scream—Mandrakes, banshees, and other terrors still.
Ben will then ask you what you think could have made that sound. There are three different options to choose from. These options will influence some dialogue that will follow, but they won’t impact the story.

Proceed to the Herbology Classroom when you are ready. When you arrive, you’ll see that Professor Sprout is also unconscious. Ben had heard a scream before he passed out, so something similar might have happened here. You’ll immediately suggest searching the area for any clues that could help explain what occurred.
To search for peppermint, you need to earn five stars within three hours. The five stars are required to pass. Since this task requires a lot of energy, it is recommended to start it with a full energy bar.

Bonus progress actions are tied to Professor Sprout and the pot. Prioritize these actions to save some energy.

After a short while, fortunately, Professor Sprout will wake up. You’ll ask if she’s alright, and she’ll say that she is, though a bit confused. She explains that she was finishing up some repotting Mandrakes when she suddenly heard an awful scream and then lost consciousness. You’ll immediately connect this to Ben’s case, and the professor will ask if you think the two incidents might be related.
There are two different options to choose from. These options will influence some dialogue that will follow, but they won’t impact the story.

At least you’ll be able to rule out one suspicion — the Mandrakes aren’t to blame for these incidents, since Professor Sprout was wearing her protective earmuffs the entire time. She’ll hand you a few extra pairs of enchanted ear protectors, just in case, and you’ll decide to head to Hagrid’s to see if he might know anything about what’s been happening.
Go to the Hagird’s Garden to continue the story. When you arrive, you’ll find Merula already there. She tells you that if you’re hoping to catch a glimpse of the mysterious screaming creature, you should find somewhere else to wait. She’s been tracking its screams and claims that only she knows its pattern, adding that it should appear any second.
Her words make you realize that Professor McGonagall might have been right — it could indeed be a banshee. Upon hearing this, Penny becomes visibly uneasy and admits that she doesn’t want to stay there any longer, insisting that she’d rather leave before the creature arrives.
There are two different options to choose from. Both of them will eventually lead to the same outcome, so feel free to take your pick.

However, Merula will get irritated that you haven’t left and, out of spite, she’ll cast a Melofors spell on Penny, trapping her head inside a pumpkin. You’ll immediately draw your wand and prepare to duel Merula, determined to stop her reckless behavior before things get any worse.

To scuffle with Merula, you need to earn five stars within eight hours. Three stars are required to pass.

Bonus progress actions are tied to Penny and Merula. Prioritize these actions to save some energy. Slide the screen left and right to check all available actions.

You’ll successfully dispel the Melofors’ spell, and it will rebound onto Merula, trapping her head in a pumpkin as well. However, you’ll sense a creature approaching and quickly put on the ear protectors Professor Sprout gave you. At that moment, your suspicions are confirmed—a banshee appears before you, screaming so violently that everyone around you collapses.

The banshee will eventually leave, and you’ll get up to help Penny with the pumpkin. Fortunately, both she and Merula were protected—the pumpkins shielded them from harm.
After that, Penny will ask if you want to help Merula with her pumpkin. Choose the option you prefer.

In any case, you decide to head back to Hogwarts to warn the others, as they could be in danger.

This will mark the end of Part 1 of Bargaining With Banshees Adventure. Hit the Collect button to claim your reward. You will receive 300 Coins.
The terrifying encounter with the Banshee has left Hogwarts shaken, but one thing is clear — this haunting presence is no ordinary threat.
