Introduction

Hello everyone, welcome to our Walkthrough section for Bargaining With Banshees, Part 4 of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery! The echoes of the banshees’ wails still seemed to linger in the air long after the Spirit Division’s arrival. What began as a haunting mystery at Hogwarts had led you and your friends far beyond the safety of the castle walls. Together, you had uncovered Penny’s unsettling connection to a cursed black comb — a relic whispered about only in old wizarding tales — and followed its dark trail to the depths of the Black Lake. But when the merpeople revealed that the comb had been cast away into the Forbidden Forest, hope and dread intertwined like roots in the soil.

Now, with danger pressing closer than ever and the forest’s shadows concealing untold secrets, you must summon all your courage once more. The fate of Hogwarts—and perhaps something far greater—may depend on what you uncover among the trees where the screams of banshees fade into whispers of ancient magic.

You’ll need to wait six hours before you can continue. 

Head to Forest Grove once the waiting time is over to search the forest. When you arrive at the edge of the Forbidden Forest, you will remark that it’s a good thing you still have some Laughing Potion, your enchanted earplugs, and the Imperturbable Charm to protect you. 

Still, you’ll need to stay extremely cautious — there are far too many banshees lurking in the shadows. Penny will add that sneaking around so many of them is absolutely nerve-wracking, before turning to you with concern and asking how you’re holding up.

There are two different options to choose from. These options will influence some dialogue that will follow, but they won’t impact the story.

A few moments later, you will spot Mr. Hobb lying unconscious in the distance, with the black comb glinting faintly beside him. Unfortunately, the dark artifact seems to have drawn unwanted attention — a group of banshees now circles around him, their eerie wails echoing through the forest.

You will agree that Cobb should draw the banshees’ attention, while you and Penny move to flank them from both sides, hoping to catch them off guard and retrieve the black comb before it’s too late.

To rescue and retrieve, you need to earn five stars within eight hours. The five stars are required to pass. Since this task requires a lot of energy, it is recommended to start it with a full energy bar.

Bonus progress actions are tied to Penny, Cobb, Banshees, and your character. Prioritize these actions to save some energy. 

Cobb will give you the signal to drink the Laughing Potion, and your laughter will successfully drive the banshees away. You’ll rush to Mr. Hobb, who is alive but clearly in need of medical attention. Thankfully, his Anti-Banshee Earplugs protected him from the worst of it.

As you turn your attention to the black comb, something feels off. If the banshees desired it so much, why didn’t they take it? Upon closer inspection, you’ll notice faint runes carved along its surface — ancient and pulsing with a strange energy. Realizing their significance, you’ll decide the best course of action is to bring the comb to Professor Dumbledore, hoping he can decipher its secrets and uncover the truth behind its power before it’s too late.

Go to the Dumbledore’s Office to consult headmaster. When you arrive, Professor Dumbledore will already be informed about everything that happened. He will explain that you must help him decipher the runes together, using several ancient books that may hold the key to understanding their meaning. Of course, you will readily agree, eager to uncover the secrets hidden within the black comb.

To translate the runes, you need to earn five stars within three hours. The five stars are required to pass. Since this task requires a lot of energy, it is recommended to start it with a full energy bar.

The bonus progress actions are tied to Professor Dumbledore. Prioritize these actions to save some energy. Slide the screen left and right to check all available actions. 

The runes will reveal a haunting message—a riddle that seems to echo through time itself: 

“A bargain is struck. A promise is made. Treasures freely offered must be freely returned. Only the true owners can keep the promise. Dishonour the bargain, and invite the banshees’ wrath.”

Professor Dumbledore will stroke his beard thoughtfully and note that, according to the old legend, a maiden and a banshee once exchanged their most cherished treasures. They were meant to return them after a year, but the maiden’s untimely death left the bargain unfulfilled. This black comb, it seems, is indeed one of those fated treasures.

Following this revelation, Dumbledore will turn to you with a small, knowing smile and ask what is your level of interest in the Study of Ancient Runes as a class.

You will then decide to meet up with your friends and to brainstorm how to return the comb, hoping that doing so will finally bring an end to this haunting situation.

Proceed to the Clocktower Courtyard when you are ready. Upon arriving, you’ll notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you’re curious to see what they have to say. 

When you arrive, you will explain the story and your plan to your friends — to return the comb and set things right. It will now be up to you to determine the details of the ancient agreement; if you can uncover how the bargain was meant to be fulfilled, you may finally discover how to bring this haunting to an end.

You will realize that this isn’t just about the comb; it’s also about the mirror. The banshees have something to return as well, and someone must be present to accept the mirror. When she purchased the comb, Miss Haywood became its new owner, which means she is the only one who can complete the bargain and return the comb to the banshees. 

Penny will feel frightened and admit that she can’t do it, overwhelmed by the sheer number of banshees, but you will reassure her that everyone is here to protect her, especially the experts Cobb and Hobb. She will then ask if this is truly the only way, wondering if there is anyone else who could return the comb.

In short, after taking a moment to gather your courage, you will decide that the time has come to set forth and finally bring a close to the terrifying ordeal that has gripped Hogwarts.

Go to the Lakeshore to complete the bargaing. Upon arriving, you’ll notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you’re curious to see what they have to say. Penny will still be worried and ask you if you really think you’ll make it through the night in one piece.

There are two different options to choose from. These options will influence some dialogue that will follow, but they won’t impact the story.

The dialogue lines will vary slightly depending on whether you or Penny hold the comb. In any case, your task is to return the comb to the banshee, who will likely be drawn to it and less inclined to attack you. Following that, a large group of banshees will begin to surge toward you.

To listen to complete the bargaing you need to earn five stars within eight hours. The five stars are required to pass. Since this task requires a lot of energy, it is recommended to start it with a full energy bar.

Bonus progress actions are tied to Professor Dumbledore, Mr.Hobb, and Penny. Prioritize these actions to save some energy. Slide the screen left and right to check all available actions. 

At one point, one of the oldest banshees will approach you, take the comb, bow respectfully, and drive away the other banshees. She will also return the mirror to you, fulfilling the bargain and finally bringing the banshee invasion to an end.

After a brief conversation Cobb will ask you how your experience has shaped your view of banshees.

Now everyone will feel calmer and happier, knowing that Hogwarts is finally safe once more. The threat has passed, and peace has returned to the castle.
