At that moment, an owl will arrive with a letter for Barnaby.

He will add that he wasn’t expecting to receive a letter today. Noticing it’s from his grandmother, Barnaby reads it and becomes excited. You’ll then ask him if everything is okay and what’s happening.

Barnaby will then ask how you would feel if you found out you’d be seeing almost all of your extended family. There are three different options to choose from. These options will influence some dialogue that will follow, but they won’t impact the story.

Barnaby will also explain that the letter was more than just an invitation—it officially named him this year’s Toast Giver! This means he has to present the entire toast in front of everyone, which makes him quite nervous. He’ll then ask how you would feel if you had to give an important speech to your own relatives.
There are three different options to choose from. These options will influence some dialogue that will follow, but they won’t impact the story.

Shortly after, Barnaby will continue explaining and tell you that the Lee family tradition allows the Toast Giver to bring a guest to share in the duties and honors of the toast.

You’ll ask if there’s a special title for the role you’re taking on. Agreeing that it deserves a unique name, he’ll offer you three options to choose from. Select the title that appeals most to you; it won’t affect the storyline but will be used throughout the adventure as your official title.

He’ll be very grateful for your help and will decide to go pack for your trip to London.

Go to the Great Hall to help with Knarl. When you arrive, Barnaby will explain that he’s having a problem with his pet Knarl, who has climbed very high and refuses to come down.

He’ll ask what you think his Knarl might be doing up there. There are three different options to choose from. All of them will eventually lead to the same outcome, so feel free to take your pick.

After that, you’ll suggest coaxing the Knarl down by keeping calm and relaxed, encouraging Barnaby to tell you more about his family. Barnaby will comment that the upcoming speech and the Lee Family Toast are making him feel quite anxious. He’ll admit that while he’s eager to see his family, life in his family isn’t always easy. You’ll understand him and add that it must be difficult growing up without parents, acknowledging how challenging his situation must have been.

Barnaby will also share that his family never approved of his interest in magical creatures, adding that he even debated whether to bring Knarl with him to the family event or not. He’ll explain that he sees Knarl as part of his family, which helps him feel less alone in a world that often doesn’t understand his passion. There are two options to choose from. If you like Barnaby, it is recommended to pick the first option.

Barnaby will thank you for helping to calm both Knarl and himself, expressing his gratitude for your support. He’ll mention that his Grandmum Lee sent a list of instructions for the toast, outlining how it should be conducted.
Barnaby will also reveal that there’s a big book containing all the previous toast verses, making the whole process more complicated than he initially thought. He’ll express a bit of worry, but your reassurance will help him feel more prepared for the upcoming event. This line will differ based on your previous choice.

The instructions specify that the youngest Lee of suitable age is chosen to give the Lee Family Toast. The Toast Giver must recite every verse of the toast and compose new verses praising family members. This tradition carries significant responsibility, as each verse is meant to honor and celebrate the family’s history and values, creating an important moment during the gathering.
Barnaby must now find a way to creatively express his family’s qualities and contributions, all while keeping the ceremony meaningful and heartfelt.

You’ll reassure Barnaby that it’s his family, and mistakes won’t be the end of the world. Then, you’ll suggest he try to focus on the positive and look at things with a lighter perspective.

You’ll tell Barnaby that, in the end, everyone will see how amazing he is, just like his friends do. He’ll express his gratitude, saying he feels much better now. This will remind him that it’s time to meet his uncle in Hogsmeade to pick up the tickets for their trip to London.

You will learn that if the Lee Family Toast is performed incorrectly, it could trigger a curse. Cecil will explain that some people believe it’s just a legend, but caution you to be careful and do everything you can to ensure the event goes smoothly.

Barnaby will say that the curse definitely won’t affect you since you’re not a member of the Lee family, but Cecil will add that since you’re a special guest and helping out, the curse will apply to you as well. Shortly after, Barnaby will ask if you think the curse is real. There are two different options to choose from. Both of them will eventually lead to the same outcome, so feel free to take your pick.

Cecil will then explain that the only way to avoid the curse is to give the Lee Family Toast with precision, inspiration, and enthusiasm. He will add that the new verses must be really good, mentioning that Barnaby’s father put a lot of work into his verses and that their mother was very proud of them.

This means the responsibility falls on Barnaby to break the curse, which will naturally add pressure on him. You will then ask him if he’s coming with you to London, and he will explain that he would like to, but he heard someone report seeing a werewolf in the Forbidden Forest.
