Chapter 1 – Beyond Hogwarts

Introduction

Hello everyone, welcome to our Walkthrough for Chapter One of Beyond Hogwarts Volume One of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. Last time, you said farewell to your professors and friends, after the End-of-Term feast. To your total surprise, Mad-Eye Moody offered you a job in a very secretive division of the Ministry called The Rare, Obscure, and Confounding Case Division, or ROCC for short.

Now it’s time to start a new chapter of your life. Firstly, you need to find a new flat for you. You’ll arrive at Diagon Alley to meet your friend Penny.

You will thank her for her offer to help you find a flat.

She will comment on how you’ve grown and ask you if you feel any different. This choice will influence only some dialogue later but it won’t have a significant impact on the story, so feel free to choose the option you like.

Penny will mention that she is on her lunch break from her job and she is working as a Potioneer at the Apothecary in Diagon Alley. She also lives in Diagon Alley as well and she is very happy.

Your friend will mention how she likes to spend her time at the Hogwarts Former Student Centre. She will explain that this center has the Dragon Club, Sphinx Club, and Hippogriff Club, just like in Hogwarts. Some dialogue can differ based on which of the Clubs you were a member of during your days in Hogwarts.

She’ll offer to guide you on what the Center has to offer later. You will spot a young future wizard passing by, on your left side, all excited and nervous about this unfamiliar Wizarding World.

You will spot Hagrid in the distance and you’ll decide to chat with him.

Your old friend will be happy to see you again and he’ll comment on how you’ve grown so much. The following line of dialogue will differ based on your previous choice.

Penny will wonder who’s that cute little snowy owl Hagrid got with him.

Hagrid will explain that she doesn’t have a name yet. She’s a gift for a very special young wizard preparing for his first year at Hogwarts.

Hagrid will ask you what you and Penny are doing in Diagon Alley. You will explain that you are looking for a flat. Hagrid will offer to help you to choose a flat as well and he’ll start explaining to you the pros and cons of every neighborhood you can choose.

To complete the next task, you need to earn five stars within one hour. Three stars are required to pass.

Bonus progress actions are tied to Hagrid and Penny. Prioritize these actions to save a bit of energy.

You will sum up what you’ve learned. Diagon Alley has lots of shops and is the center of wizarding London, but it’s very loud. Hogsmeade is all-wizarding and also has shops, but it’s swarmed with Hogwarts students on weekends.

Lastly, Godric’s Hollow is a historic community, but it’s small and you’ll have to be careful with magic. Penny will point out a few more details.

She will ask you to choose where you want to live. This is an important choice because your flat will be in one of these locations for the rest of the story, so choose carefully.

After your choice, you will have the option to change your mind or to confirm your choice. If you choose the second option, you can choose the location again. After you choose the first option and confirm your decision about where you want to live, you will not be able to change this decision anymore.

Hagrid will have to go to collect his young wizard friend from Ollivander’s and Penny needs to go back to work because her lunch break was over. You will be troubled about how to move into your new neighborhood and you’ll wish there was some spell for that. This will give you an idea.

Go to your neighborhood to meet with Badeea (Diagon Alley, Hogsmeade, or Godric’s Hollow, depending on which location you choose). You will be surprised that Badeea found a flat just for you. She will be your neighbor as well.

The flat will be already in a cozy style, so Badeea will ask you if you like it or not. Whatever you choose, Badeea will decide to show you other styles as well.

She will teach you a general Conjuring Spell. To learn this spell, you need to earn five stars within three hours. Three stars are required to pass.

There is only one bonus progress action and it is tied to your character. Prioritize your character to save some energy.

Badeea will cast Inanimatus Conjurus to show you the sleek style. She will ask you if you like this style. Whichever option you choose, she will show you one more style after this, so you are not making a final decision now.

The last style she’ll show you is an eclectic style. Once again, you can say if you like it or not, but this will not be your final decision, so feel free to choose an option you like.

Shortly after, the time for your final choice will arrive. You can choose between the three styles you’ve seen previously. Your flat will have the type of style for the rest of the game based on this decision.

When you make your decision, Badeaa will ask you one more time if you are sure. If you choose the second option, you will return to choose the style of your flat again. If you choose the first option, you will confirm your choice, and you can’t choose again.

After you’ve chosen the style of your flat it will be time for you to move in. Luckily, Badeea has a spell for that as well.

She will also conjure some furniture as a gift.

You will be very thankful for everything, but you’ll be sad as well because you can’t return any favor. Badeea will be okay with this, you can owe her a favor in the future. You can reply to her in three different ways. This choice won’t have a significant impact on the story, so feel free to choose the option you like.

You will thank Badeea again for everything and she will leave you to settle in. You will unlock the Inanimatus Conjurus skill in the Core section of your Skills Tab.

After a short tutorial about how to decorate your flat, your next task will be to meet with Barnaby Lee. Go to the Three Broomsticks to meet him. Once you are there, you can check what some of the guests have to say by tapping on the speech bubbles above their heads.

Barnaby will be glad to see you, even calling you his favorite person in the world. He will ask you if he is the only one who has an impression that everyone changed since leaving Hogwarts. This choice won’t have a significant impact on the story so feel free to choose the option you like.

Barnaby will mention that he likes to go to the Toothill Duelling Club. This is a dueling club for former Hogwarts students. The side quest related to dueling in this club will be unlocked after this task.

But Barnaby didn’t invite you to Buterbeer to talk about how you changed nor about the dueling club. To find out what troubles him, you need to earn five stars within eight hours. Three stars are required to pass.

Bonus progress actions are tied to Barnaby and to the woman at the corner of the room. Prioritize these actions to save some energy.

Barnaby will confess that he can’t live with his grandmother anymore but the city is too loud for his pet Knarl and him.

He didn’t save money yet to move out but he is working on it. He became a Houndmaster at the Ministry and his job will be to take care of the albino bloodhounds for the Pest Division. He’s scheduled to report for his first day soon.

Barnaby will ask you what’s your job. Funnily enough, you will not know, and you don’t know anything about your employer. Your friend will ask you where do you work. Due to the secret nature of your organization, you’ll try to evade the question. You’ll tell him that it’s time for you to meet Andre.

Go to Diagon Alley to meet with Andre. You can check what passersby have to say by tapping on the speech bubbles above their heads. You’ll meet with Andre. His appearance will be different because he grew older, but his personality will be the same. Good old Andre who has a passion for fashion.

You will be glad that he truly became a style wizard. He’ll think that you should take all the credit for that. You can reply in three different ways but this choice won’t have a significant impact on the story, so feel free to choose the option you like.

If you’ve completed Transfigure It Out Adventure Andre will mention how you’ve helped him.

Both of you will be excited to share details about your jobs. To complete the next task, you need to earn five stars within three hours. All five stars are required to pass.

Bonus progress actions are tied to your character and Andre. Prioritize these actions to save some energy.

You will find out that Andre really enjoys his work. You will tell him that you don’t know anything about your job yet.

Andre will offer to tailor outfits from your wardrobe. This will open your wardrobe interface. You can change your outfit or appearance, but you don’t have to, the story will continue once you exit the wardrobe screen.

Go to your flat to continue the story.

You will welcome Penny to her flat. Her impression will differ based on the style you’ve chosen before.

She will ask you how you managed to style your flat so brilliantly. If you like Badeea, choose the first option.

Shortly after, Penny will mention that Barnaby and her miss Hogwarts. She’ll ask you if it’s the same with you. You can choose the option you like because it won’t affect the story much.

She will point out that at least you have good memories of Hogwarts, and you can visit your school anytime you want. After a while, Penny will be tired and she’ll need to go home.

When Penny left, you will notice an envelope on the ground.

You won’t be able to open its seal. The words will appear on the envelope saying: “I can fill a room and take up no space… And when I am gone, the dark takes my place.” You will try to solve this riddle.

To complete the next task, you need to earn five stars within three hours. Three stars are required to complete this task.

There are bonus progress actions and they are tied to your character and the envelope. Prioritize these actions to save some energy.

You will get an idea that the Lumos spell may solve the riddle.

You will succeed! You will open the envelope and you’ll read the letter.

You will be very confused by this and suddenly, the letter will burn itself up.

With this, the story tasks of Chapter One will be over. You can now start doing your mandatory chapter Tasks. Go to the Former Student Centre to meet Penny. Penny will be excited to give you a tour of the Former Student Centre. She’ll explain that the Centre has three doors and each section has an equivalent clubhouse like in Hogwarts.

If you have a Hogwarts Club membership, you will gain membership to the equivalent Former Student Clubs automatically. You can even access the Secret Clubhouse via the clock mechanism.

Your friend will point out that the more of an expert you become in an area, the more status you’ll gain in the clubs, and the most gifted members receive valuable prizes and peer recognition.

Penny will then ask you which of those things excites you the most. Feel free to choose the option you like the most.

Shortly after, Penny will show you the library of the Center.

Lastly, she will ask you what you are most excited about at the Former Student Centre. Feel free to choose the option you like the most.

This will conclude this chapter task. Go back to your flat to start another chapter task. You will meet Badeea there. You will be confused about what to do next in the Wizarding World, after moving in.

Badeaa will advise you to talk with experts. She knows lots of interesting witches and wizards who can help you. You will have to do several tasks. Feel free to do them in any order you like.

It is recommended to select the task duration that matches its star requirements.

Prioritize actions with bonus progress, so you can save a bit of energy.

Try to succeed in mini-tasks to earn extra attribute points.

When you complete all of the tasks, hit the Collect button and go to Badeea at your flat.

You will thank Badeea for her idea. Because of her, you’ve learned a lot and can now dive into life after Hogwarts.

After you complete all the objectives, you can claim the reward in the Wizarding World section of the Wizarding Life tab.

Click the Next button in your story quest log to finish the chapter and start the new one. You will receive 2500 Experience Points and 400 Coins
