Chapter 16 – Revelations and Realisations
Introduction
Hello everyone, welcome to our Walkthrough for Chapter Sixteen of Beyond Hogwarts: Volume Two of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. In the previous chapter, tensions ran high as Ruby’s unexpected presence among your friends risked exposing both of your covers. While Ruby believed Merula’s gesture was genuine, her actions raised new concerns. Meanwhile, Jacob surprised you with a heartfelt party to express his gratitude, offering a brief respite before you had to deal with new complications.
Barnaby then confided in you about his growing troubles—his grandmother and Merula had formed an unsettling alliance, making his life difficult. When you confronted Merula, she revealed her suspicions about Ruby, believing something wasn’t quite right. Her determination to uncover the truth puts you in an increasingly dangerous position.
After updating Flump, he warned you to be cautious, as your rising popularity made it harder to keep secrets. With tensions mounting and uncertainty looming, the next steps you take will be critical in navigating the delicate balance between loyalty, deception, and survival.

Proceed to the Break Room when you are ready. Upon arriving, you’ll notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you’re curious to see what they have to say. When you enter, you will see Flump busy with the candy machine. As you approach him, he will speak before you even get the chance to say anything, firmly stating that he refuses—specifically, that he won’t accept the Order of Merlin medal from you.
He will also add that he knows you don’t really care about the medal, but rather, you just want to annoy him enough so that he sends you back to Egypt. There are two e different options to choose from. Both of them will eventually lead to the same outcome, so feel free to take your pick.

You will ask him why he refuses to explain the whole situation and what really happened during the incident when he was an Auror. However, he will respond that you barely know anything about him, so why would he share something that only a few people know?
You’ll insist that you actually know a lot about him, and naturally, he will challenge you to prove it. This will lead to a quiz where you must test your knowledge of Flump.
The quiz costs 500 Coins, and the recommended attributes are:
- Courage: Your current level
- Empathy: One level above your current level
- Knowledge: The same level as yours

Here are the quiz questions along with the correct answers:
| What’s my favourite snack? | Jammie Dodgers. (Em) |
| What was my job before this? | Auror. (Co) |
| Which Hogwarts house was I in? | Slytherin. (Kn) |
| Why did I leave my last job? | There was an incident. (Em) |
| Who calls me by my first name? | Vega. (Kn) |
| Where was my old hiding place? | Zonko’s Joke Shop. (Co) |
Once you successfully complete the quiz, Flump will be impressed by your knowledge about him and will agree to explain what happened. However, he will insist on discussing it in your office, as there are too many people around.

Go to the Workspace to continue the story. Upon arriving, you’ll notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you’re curious to see what they have to say. When you arrive, Flump will say to listen carefully because he truly doesn’t have time.

To learn Flump’s past, you need to earn five stars within three hours. All five stars are required to pass. Since this task requires a lot of energy, it is recommended to start it with a full energy bar.

The bonus progress actions are tied to Flump. Prioritize these actions to save some energy.

You will learn that Flump was involved in an incident where many Aurors were injured. Even though he saved them, he still considers himself responsible. He will add that he was obsessed with Dark Wizards, which ultimately led to something even more terrible.

Following that, he will ask you if you really think he deserves the medal after everything you’ve heard. There are three different options to choose from. These options will influence some dialogue that will follow, but they won’t impact the story.

In any case, he will tell you to put the medal in your drawer and forget about it, adding that he is very tired of it and the constant reminders. You will sympathize with Flump and express your understanding. Shortly after, you will decide to attend the next Social Club meeting, as Rath is the new president and has invited you to the gathering.

Proceed to the Communal Pitch when you are ready. Upon arriving, you’ll notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you’re curious to see what they have to say. You will notice that everyone is surprised by the Quidditch pitch, more or less.
You will add that you should have expected her to organize the meeting on the Quidditch pitch, as it’s a good spot for it. Orion will then comment that the vibes here are immaculate.

To explore the quidditch pitch, you need to earn five stars within eight hours. All five stars are required to pass. Since this task requires a lot of energy, it is recommended to start it with a full energy bar.

Your conversation will be interrupted by an owl delivering a letter from Barnaby, who needs your help.

Go to the Former Student Centre to talk with Barnaby. Upon arriving, you’ll notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you’re curious to see what they have to say. When you arrive, you’ll learn that Barnaby wants to finally confront his strict grandmother alone. He needs your help, along with Tonks, to prepare and encourage him for this momentous conversation. This line will differ based on your previous choices.

You’ll agree to help him and suggest that you practice together. You’ll guide him on how to behave, while Tonks will roleplay as his grandmother. Of course, Tonks, being a Metamorphmagus, will take it a step further and fully transform into his grandmother to make the practice more realistic.

Following that, Barnaby will thank you before leaving to confront his grandmother, saying he feels much more confident now. You’ll then ask Tonks to return to her original form, but she’ll mention that for a brief moment of sadness, Barnaby seemed unlike himself, and she’ll ask if something deeper might be going on.
There are two different options to choose from. All of them will eventually lead to the same outcome, so feel free to take your pick.

In any case, she’ll say that the two of you should keep an eye on Barnaby for a while. You’ll then decide to head back to your office.

Proceed to the Workspace when you are ready. When you arrive, you’ll notice a postcard from Olivia and Jacob on your desk. It says they’re having a great time in Japan, enjoying a variety of foods and exploring historical sites. They also mention sending their regards to everyone, especially Elton and Herbert.

Soon after, Vega will appear and greet you. You’ll tell her that Olivia sends her regards and mention that she’s in Japan with your brother on a trip.

The bonus progress actions are tied to your character. Prioritize these actions to save some energy.

You’ll learn that Vega hasn’t seen anyone except Bill and the desert itself, adding that she did spot a handful of treasure-hunter types at the marketplace but no one else. This will strike you as strange, especially since she hasn’t seen Corey or Diego. Vega will respond that it’s a good thing because if they’re not around, Flump might send you back to Egypt.
There are two different options to choose from. These options will influence some dialogue that will follow, but they won’t impact the story.

You’ll ask her how she managed to pass by Bill unnoticed, and Vega will reveal that she’s an Animagus. She’ll tell you that her animagus form is a fennec fox.

She will tell you that you should have warned her that there were more sphinxes, not just one or two, which will leave you confused, as you remember that there were fewer of them last time.

Now that you have completed the story, you can start the mandatory and optional chapter tasks. You need to complete one mandatory chapter task and two optional chapter tasks to unlock the next chapter.
