Chapter 19 – Like a Glove

Hello everyone, welcome to our Walkthrough for Chapter Nineteen of Beyond Hogwarts: Volume One of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. In the previous chapter, you met with your brother Jacob, delivering him the sad news of Barnabie’s grandmother’s passing. You advised Jacob to seize every moment and express his true feelings to Olivia. Moments later, Jacob revealed that your friend Jae had reached out with a lead on the elusive Moste Potente Potions book, offering hope for breaking the curse and restoring his sight.

Following this, you met with your boss, presenting undeniable evidence linking Felix Grooves to the cursed quill case and the charity auction fire. However, your colleague Callum interrupted, revealing additional evidence linking the cases to Felix, including his distinctive dark pink ink signature. Despite initial reservations, your boss allowed you and Callum to work together to expedite the resolution of the cases, cautioning you of potential dangers akin to Ruby’s situation. As a precaution, he gifted you a Niffler Snout to protect you from danger.

Later, you met with Olivia, who confessed her love for Jacob, urging you to keep the secret. Subsequently, meeting with Jae at his workplace, you learned he had successfully located the Moste Potente Potions book, bringing hope to Jacob.

Proceed to the Research Lab when you are ready. Upon arriving, you’ll notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you’re curious to see what they have to say. As you arrive, you’ll encounter Olivia, who will greet you warmly.

You’ll express your delight at seeing her and inform her that Jae has finally found the Moste Potente Potions Book. Additionally, you’ll mention that you’ll soon begin working on Jacob’s experimental curse-reversing potion and ask her if she would like to join you.

You’ll thank Olivia for agreeing to help you, and at that moment, your conversation will be interrupted by your colleague Callum. He’ll apologize for interrupting and tell you that it’s time to start working on your cases.

Olivia will decide to leave you three so you can start working.

Shortly after, Callum will say that he’s gathered some evidence for you to review: a forged cheque from Gringotts, a forged certificate of authenticity from Felix Grooves, and a Quidditch broom with a fake Ethan Parkin signature. You’ll suggest that the first thing you should do is to test the ink on all of these items. This could help you track down where it was made and who made it. To test the evidence, you need to earn five stars within three hours. Three stars are required to pass.

There is only one bonus progress action tied to your character. Prioritize this action to save some energy. 

Once you finish examining, you’ll see that the ink on all of the evidence is made from an unidentified plant.

He’ll remark that, considering you’ve been working on your Herbology Specialisation, there must be something else you learned from your tests. You’ll tell him that the findings indicate that this could be a poisonous plant, but you’ll also mention that you have another option. That is to visit your Professor Sprout, who is an Herbology expert and who likely could help you identify the plant. Callum will tell you that before you go, he has some advice on your specializations. These lines will differ based on your previous choice in the previous chapter.

Following that, he’ll say that, based on what happened to Ruby, you could also be in danger. He’ll add that, besides the fact that you’ve been doing so well, you earned the opportunity to learn some new skills.

This line will differ based on whether you have learned the Episkey charm before or not.

You’ll thank Callum and tell him that you’ll get right on those before you head back to Hogwarts to meet Professor Sprout. Now you need to complete four mandatory chapter tasks to unlock the next chapter. Go to your Flat to start the mandatory chapter task.  Upon arrival, you’ll meet with Tulip, who needs your help to find inspiration for her best-selling pranks.

You’ll need to complete several objectives to finish this mandatory chapter task. Feel free to do them in any order you prefer.

While doing these objectives, it is recommended to select the duration that matches their star requirements.

Prioritize actions with bonus progress whenever they are available.

Try your best to complete all of the mini-tasks to earn some additional attribute points.

Once you complete all of the tasks, hit the Collect button and return to your Flat.

After you complete all the objectives, you can claim the reward in the Wizarding World section of the Wizarding Life tab.

Now you have three remaining mandatory chapter tasks to finish:

1. Protego Totalum in the Research Lab: Here, you’ll earn Auror Experience Points and Dragon Club Experience Points.

2. Magical Creature Bonding at your Flat: This task will earn you Magizoology Experience Points and Hippogriff Club Experience Points.

3. Episkey Mastery at the Hospital Ward: Completing this task will earn you Healer Experience Points and Sphinx Club Experience Points.

Also, prioritize actions with bonus progress whenever they are available.

Try your best to complete all of the mini-tasks to earn some additional attribute points.

Once you’ve completed the mandatory chapter tasks, head to the Herbology Classroom at Hogwarts to meet with Professor Sprout. Upon arrival, you’ll greet your professor warmly, and she’ll express her delight at seeing you.

After a brief conversation, she’ll ask how she can assist you. You’ll explain that you have some ink made from an unknown plant substance, mentioning that you’re certain it comes from a poisonous plant but that you need more information. She’ll then offer to help you identify the plant.

She’ll confirm that Ismelda is a poisonous plant expert now. You’ll mention that you have a feeling Ismelda is avoiding you, but Professor Sprout will suggest that it sounds like something you should take up with her. She’ll then ask you to present your ink sample. To complete the next task, you need to earn five stars within three hours. All five stars are required to pass. Since this task requires a lot of energy, it is recommended to start it with a full energy bar.

Bonus progress actions are tied to Professor Sprout and your character. Prioritize these actions to save some energy. 

When you’re finished, Professor Sprout will acknowledge that you were correct and confirm that the plant is indeed poisonous. She’ll praise you for your observation. Additionally, she’ll mention that this ruling out eliminates quite a few purple plants, such as the Shrivelfig.

You’ll agree with Professor Sprout and mention that the plant fits all the substance properties except for the pink coloration. Then, you’ll ask her if the foxglove isn’t purple. Professor Sprout will explain that the color of the foxglove can vary, including different shades of purple and pink.

Professor Sprout will mention that she heard you’re a Magical Maintenance employee and that this seems a bit outside your usual duties. She’ll then ask why you need to know about the origins of this ink. There are two different options to choose from. Both options will influence some dialogue that will follow, but they won’t impact the story.

In any case, you’ll thank Professor Sprout for her assistance and decide to go talk to your friend Corey to see if she can help you solve the mystery. Go to the Hogsmeade to talk with your friend Corey. Upon arriving, you’ll notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you’re curious to see what they have to say. You’ll greet Corey and add that it’s been a long time since you’ve seen each other, then you’ll ask her how her novel writing is going.

You’ll be sure that her new novel is also inspired by real events, and she’ll tell you that the cursed quill that remembers everything is just a rumor, but she likes to believe there’s some truth to it. She’ll also mention that she’s suffering from a bit of writer’s block and doesn’t know how to continue the story.

Shortly after, you’ll inquire if she might know someone named Felix Grooves. She’ll then urge you to listen carefully, assuring you that she’ll share everything she knows. To complete the next task, you need to earn five stars within one hour. Three stars are required to pass. Since this task requires a lot of energy, it is recommended to start it with a full energy bar.

Bonus progress actions are tied to Corey and your character. Prioritize these actions to save some energy. Slide the screen left and right to check all available actions. 

When you finish, you’ll learn that Corey’s family had dealings with Felix Grooves, but Corey will add that they only communicated through his secretary, Eris, and never met Felix himself. It will strike you as odd that no one has ever met Felix, and Corey will ask what you think that means about Mr. Grooves’ existence. There are three different options to choose from. All of them will eventually lead to the same outcome, so feel free to take your pick.

Then you’ll explain to Corey that you believe Felix Grooves is using the cursed quill to forge signatures, but she’ll argue that it can’t be true because her parents always demand a certificate of authenticity. However, you’ll convince her that the cursed quill has recently been used to forge cheques, Quidditch memorabilia, and certificates of authenticity.

Corey will be curious and ask why you’re investigating this. There are three different options to choose from. These options will influence some dialogue that will follow, but they won’t impact the story.

In any case, Corey will thank you for coming and tell you she needs to return to the shop urgently.

She’ll mention that she probably won’t make it to your friend’s gathering later and ask you to mention Barnaby that she’s thinking of him. Then, you’ll head to your friend’s gathering at the Leaky Cauldron. Before that, you’ll have a waiting time of 4 hours.

When the waiting time is over, proceed there when you are ready. Upon arriving, you’ll notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you’re curious to see what they have to say. When you arrive, you’ll see that your friends are already there. You’ll then ask Barnaby how he’s holding up.

He’ll add that the more he cleans up, the bigger, draughtier, and emptier the house seems, which will sadden him even more. You’ll suggest to the others that you talk about something to distract Barnaby and take his mind off things.  To check in with friends, you need to earn five stars within eight hours. Three stars are required to pass. 

Bonus progress actions are tied to Liz, Andre, and your character. Prioritize these actions to save some energy. Slide the screen left and right to check all available actions. 

Barnaby will thank everyone for being there to comfort him, but he’ll express that there is still a big, empty hole in his heart the size of the big empty house he lives in. You’ll mention that it sounds like he could use some more distraction. This will give Barnaby the idea to ask you about the progress with finding the Moste Potente Potions book for Jacob.

Before that happens, you’ll mention that you’re going to reunite Olivia and Jacob in the same room to work everything out. You’ll say that you’ve invited her to help you brew the potion later but haven’t told her yet that Jacob will be there too. Jae will comment that it’s a crafty way to help them share their feelings. There are two different options to choose from. These options will influence some dialogue that will follow, but they won’t impact the story.

Then you’ll decide to leave and meet up with Olivia and Jacob.

Before that, you’ll have a waiting time of 3 hours.

When the waiting time is over, go to the Alchemy Room  to continue the story. When you arrive, you’ll tell Jacob that you’re ready to work on the potion to break his Conjunctivitis Curse. He’ll be very grateful that you’ve come to help him. 

He’ll comment that you’ve been very busy lately, and you’ll explain to him that your latest case at the ROCC is heating up. It involves not only forged documents and a cursed quill but also the death of your partner Ruby, and you’ve been helping Barnaby with his loss as well.

He’ll say that you could both really use some quality sibling bonding time, just you and him. However, then Olivia will arrive, which Jacob didn’t expect at all.

Jacob will comment that you forgot to mention that Olivia would be there, and you’ll pretend as if you genuinely forgot.

Olivia will say that she also thought it would be just the two of you, but she’s glad Jacob is here, and she’ll ask him how he’s doing, adding that she misses him at the flat.

Jacob will react quite shyly, and he’ll become flustered. There are two different options to choose from. Both of them will eventually lead to the same outcome, so feel free to take your pick.

In any case, you’ll suggest starting to work on the potion, and Jacob will mention that your friend Chiara helped him locate a bunch of helpful potions in the book. He’ll add that if you mix and match ingredients, you can create a one-of-a-kind potion to break Verucca’s curse. 

To complete the next task, you need to earn five stars within three hours. All five stars are required to pass. Since this task requires a lot of energy, it is recommended to start it with a full energy bar.

Bonus progress actions are tied to Jacob and your character. Prioritize these actions to save some energy. Slide the screen left and right to check all available actions. 

You’ll locate all the ingredients that St. Mungo’s offers, but you’ll still need one essential ingredient: shards of unicorn horn. You will comment that you can almost envision you making the potion and that it seems so close yet so far away.

Olivia’s reaction will surprise you.

Olivia will remind you that she told you when she could envision a relationship with Jacob that it seemed so close yet so far away. She’ll add that you both said the same thing and that it seems like Jacob knew about her feelings for him. 

You’ll try to reassure Olivia and tell her that the best thing to do is to be open and honest about their true feelings for each other. However, Jacob won’t appreciate your interference and suggest that you go and look for the remaining ingredients while they talk.

This will conclude Chapter 19 of Beyond Hogwarts: Volume 1. You will receive 400 Coins and 2000 Experience Points.
