Chapter 2 – Catch A Break

Introduction

Hello everyone, welcome to our Walkthrough for Chapter Two of Beyond Hogwarts: Volume Two of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. In the previous part, your colleague Vega began to acquaint you more deeply with your new job. She revealed some new and exciting information about the role, even showing you their unique transportation system—a giant door at the center of the ROCC—that takes you directly to the cases you need to solve. Afterward, you and Vega went to your old friend Elton to check if the amulet you received was still cursed. After a brief inspection, it turned out that the amulet, which your father wore when he died, was no longer cursed.

You wanted to inform Jacob about all this, but first, you went to ask Flump if you could leave work to see Jacob. He allowed you to go, and during your conversation with him, you noticed his indecision about what to do with Ruby, who is at your flat. Afterward, you headed to Hogsmeade to meet your brother. On the way, you ran into Penny and chatted with her. She mentioned how happy she is living with her friends at Barnaby’s house. A few moments later, Jacob appeared, and you explained to him about the amulet that arrived on your desk, though you still don’t know who sent it. This sparked hope in Jacob that your father might still be alive.

However, your conversation was abruptly interrupted by Verucca, who attacked your brother and then vanished once again. Let’s hurry to see if Jacob is alright and what is happening with him.

Proceed to the Patient Room at St. Mungo’s when you are ready. When you arrive, you’ll see that Olivia is very worried about Jacob. 

You’ll ask Chiara about your brother’s condition, and she’ll say that the good news is that his vital signs are normal. However, the bad news is that they haven’t discovered what happened to him yet, and they won’t have much information until he wakes up.

Olivia will ask if Verucca is supposed to be in Azkaban. You’ll respond that it seems she has escaped, even though it seems impossible since no one has ever managed to get out of Azkaban on their own. At that moment, your brother will wake up.

Jacob can see?

Jacob will be overjoyed that he can see again. You’ll be confused and ask Chiara what’s happening, but she won’t know either.

To learn how Jacob can see, you need to earn five stars within three hours. Three stars are required to pass. 

The bonus progress actions are tied to your character. Prioritize these actions to save some energy. 

Jacob will comment on how wonderful it is to see you and Olivia, especially Olivia. You’ll conclude that Verruca’s actions broke Jacob’s Conjunctivitis Curse. Following that, Chiara will ask if you think Verruca reversed her curse on Jacob on purpose. 

There are three different options to choose from. These options will influence some dialogue that will follow, but they won’t impact the story.

Jacob will comment that if it was Verucca, then she was the missing ingredient you were lacking, explaining why the Healers failed to counter the curse. You’ll wonder why Verucca would do that, and Chiara will be afraid that ‘R’ might have returned. 

However, Olivia will tell you that you need to focus on the bright side now because Jacob’s vision has finally returned. You’ll decide to go to Barnaby’s house anyway to warn them to be cautious in case ‘R’ has returned.

Go to Barnaby’s Parlour to continue the story. Upon arriving, you’ll notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you’re curious to see what they have to say. When you arrive, you’ll see your friends having fun. You’ll try to get their attention, but the first time it won’t work, so you’ll end up shouting.

You’ll tell them they need to take a break from their chaos because you have some big news. However, at that moment, Merula will enter and say she doesn’t care about your news because she has even bigger news to share. There are two different options to choose from. These options will influence some dialogue that will follow, but they won’t impact the story.

In any case, you’ll find out that Merula was fired from the Hog’s Head Inn due to disagreements with Aberforth. Then you’ll tell them your news that Verucca attacked Jacob again and somehow reversed the curse he had, so now he can finally see again. 

But you don’t know if she did it accidentally or intentionally. Merula will ask you to tell them more details about what happened. To warn everyone about Verucca, you need to earn five stars within eight hours. All five stars are required to pass. Since this task requires a lot of energy, it is recommended to start it with a full energy bar.

Bonus progress actions are tied to Andre, Tulip, and your character. Prioritize these actions to save some energy. Slide the screen left and right to check all available actions. 

This line will differ based on your previous choice.

Barnaby will be confused when he hears that Verucca has returned and that you received Dai Rysaki’s amulet. He’ll ask you, knowing that your father was a leader of ‘R’, if you think ‘R’ has returned too. 

There are two different options to choose from. These options will influence some dialogue that will follow, but they won’t impact the story.

You’ll say that there are many questions that need answering before you can explain what’s really going on.

Shortly after, you’ll decide to return to work to talk to Flump. You’ll need to wait four hours before you can continue. Since this chapter is not time-limited, it is recommended to wait until this timer runs out.

Proceed to the Research Lab once the waiting time is over. Upon arriving, you’ll notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you’re curious to see what they have to say. When you arrive, Flump will say that Olivia informed him about what happened with your brother.

You’ll tell him that it doesn’t make sense that this situation happened, and it seems highly improbable because Verucca is supposed to be in Azkaban. You’ll add that she’s evil, not good. Flump will tell you that he’ll send someone to Azkaban to check on Verucca and also that he’s made a decision regarding what’s next for Ruby Honeysuckle.

To learn Ruby’s fate, you need to earn five stars within three hours. All five stars are required to pass. Since this task requires a lot of energy, it is recommended to start it with a full energy bar.

Bonus progress actions are tied to the woman sitting, Flump, and your character. Prioritize these actions to save some energy. Slide the screen left and right to check all available actions. 

It will sound like Flump wants to send Ruby to Azkaban, but he’ll assure you that he doesn’t. He’ll explain that she did ultimately help you solve the case and that he’s decided to send her to work in actual Magical Maintenance. Then he’ll ask for your opinion. There are two different options to choose from. Both of them will eventually lead to the same outcome, so feel free to take your pick.

In any case, Flump will say that he needs your help because Ruby needs to be unrecognizable for her protection and also for ROCC’s protection. You’ll be a bit preoccupied because you have a lot to do now: dealing with Verucca, the amulet, cursed places orientation, and now Ruby.

Following that, you’ll decide to head back to your flat and help Ruby. Go to your flat to continue the story. You’ll find Ruby cleaning, absorbed in her thoughts. 

After a brief conversation, you’ll tell her that Flump has finally made a decision about what to do with her. She’ll apologize once again for all the trouble you’ve had to go through because of her and ask if you’ll ever be able to trust her again. There are three options to choose from. If you like Ruby, it is recommended to pick the first or second option.

She’ll think you’re going to take her to Azkaban, but you’ll tell her that Flump has prepared something else for her: a job in actual Magical Maintenance. In return, she needs to help ROCC track down Eris. This line will differ based on your previous choice. 

You’ll also tell her that she needs to be incognito, so you’ll have to work together on that.

To choose Ruby’s new look, you need to earn five stars within eight hours. All five stars are required to pass. Since this task requires a lot of energy, it is recommended to start it with a full energy bar.

Bonus progress actions are tied to the things to wear and Ruby. Prioritize these actions to save some energy. 

Then you can choose Ruby’s outfit. Choose the option you like better.

Ruby will wear the outfit you choose, and then she’ll ask you what you think of it. If you change your mind, you can still choose a different outfit. Choose the second option if you want to change your outfit.

Following that, she’ll be excited that she got the opportunity from Flump. 

You’ll need to wait three hours before you can continue. Since this chapter is not time-limited, it is recommended to wait until this timer runs out.

Proceed to the ROCC Divison when you are ready to meet with Vega. Upon arriving, you’ll notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you’re curious to see what they have to say. Vega will say she’s sorry about the attack on your brother, adding that she’s known you for a short time but has a feeling that you’ll get to the bottom of it.

You’ll add that knowing Jacob’s curse has been broken should make it easier to focus on Cursed Places orientation and that you’re ready to begin. She’ll then ask you if there’s anything specific you’d like to review before you finish orientation. Select the option you want it to explain.

In any case, she’ll want to explain to you that even though you don’t know where you’re going, you’ll always have a way home. She’ll add that she’ll teach you the Portus Charm, which can turn any object into a Portkey. To learn Portus, you need to earn five stars within three hours. All five stars are required to pass. Since this task requires a lot of energy, it is recommended to start it with a full energy bar.

Bonus progress actions are tied to the right statue, Vega, and your character. Prioritize these actions to save some energy. Slide the screen left and right to check all available actions. 

Following that, Vega will say that you’re ready to cast Portus on any regular old item and turn it into a Portkey.

At that moment, the gargoyle’s voice will be heard, saying your name.

Looks like it’s time to start a new case.

Now that you have completed the story, you can start the mandatory and optional chapter tasks. You need to complete one mandatory chapter task and two optional chapter tasks to unlock the next chapter. When you complete three tasks, the fourth one that is left will disappear.

Go to the Three Broomsticks to start the mandatory chapter task. Madam Villanelle needs your help to fulfill all of Lockhart’s demands.

You’ll need to complete several objectives to finish this mandatory chapter task. Feel free to do them in any order you prefer.

While doing these objectives, it is recommended to select the duration that matches their star requirements.

Prioritize actions with bonus progress whenever they are available.

Try your best to complete all of the mini-tasks to earn some additional attribute points.

Once you complete all of the tasks, hit the Collect button and return to the Three Broomsticks.

After you complete all the objectives, you can claim the reward in the Wizarding World section of the Wizarding Life tab.

Choose the optional tasks you like. You can Explore the ROCC at the ROCC Division where you can earn Spinx Club Experience. Ministry Case Analysis at the Department of Magical Law Enforcement where you can earn Dragon Club Experience Points and Auror Experience Points, and Stop by Gringotts where you can earn Spinx Club Experience Points.

Also, prioritize actions with bonus progress whenever they are available.

Try your best to complete all of the mini-tasks to earn some additional attribute points.

This will conclude Chapter 2 of Beyond Hogwarts: Volume 2. You will receive 400 Coins and 2000 Experience Points.
