Chapter 3 – New Place and Old Friends
Introduction
Hello everyone, welcome to our Walkthrough for Chapter Three of Beyond Hogwarts: Volume Two of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. In the last chapter, you hurried to the hospital to check on Jacob, worried about his condition. To your relief, Jacob’s curse was finally broken, and he could see again. This led to questions about whether Verrucca had intentionally broken the curse or if it was another attempt to harm Jacob.
Afterward, you visited Barnaby’s house, where you found your friends engrossed in their own activities. You shared the news about Jacob’s recovery and warned them to stay vigilant as ‘R’ might be active again. Following that, you met with your boss, who revealed the final decision about Ruby. She would stay and work in Magical Maintenance, and you were tasked with helping her change her look to avoid detection. You went back to your apartment to assist Ruby in transforming her style and outfit.
Then, you returned to work, where Vega taught you the Portus charm. During your conversation, you heard the Gargoyle’s call, signaling that it was time to start a new case. Exciting times are ahead as we embark on another mysterious adventure. Let’s dive in and see what unfolds next!

Proceed to the ROCC Division when you are ready. Upon arriving, you’ll notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you’re curious to see what they have to say. Upon arriving, you’ll greet Vega warmly.

At that moment, the Gargoyles will suddenly speak up.

Vega will introduce them as the Left and Right Gargoyles, adding that she usually calls them Left and Right. She’ll explain that the Right is the office gossip, while the Left only cares about facts.

Vega will then say that before she lets you go, she has to make sure you were paying attention when she talked about the door. She’ll ask if you remember what exactly the door is. The correct answer is Unstable Portkey.

Following that, she will remind you that once you go through the door, you cannot return through it. Instead, you must use Portus and create your own Portkey to return. The Right will then wish you good luck.

You will pass through the door and find yourself in an unfamiliar location, landing right in a fountain.

You will scare the people around you with your sudden appearance.

Shortly after, you’ll decide to figure out what place this is and how it’s cursed. You’ll begin your investigation and start gathering clues. To determine your location, you need to earn five stars within eight hours. All five stars are required to pass. Since this task requires a lot of energy, it is recommended to start it with a full energy bar.

Unfortunately, there are no bonus progress actions in this task. You’ll hear people mentioning the Empire State Building, Times Square, Broadway, and Lady Liberty. Seeing the United States flags around you, you’ll realize that you must be in New York City!

You’ll be astonished that the door sent you all the way to the States and will find it odd that you’re not feeling any ill effects. However, you’ll have one lingering doubt: the place doesn’t seem cursed at all, so maybe the door made a mistake.

You’ll need to wait three hours before you can continue. Since this chapter is not time-limited, it is recommended to wait until this timer runs out.

Go to the MACUSA to continue the story when the waiting time is over. Upon arriving, you’ll notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you’re curious to see what they have to say. When you arrive, you’ll come across a young woman and ask her if she knows Ben Copper. She’ll look a bit shy and hesitant.

You’ll ask her if she can find Ben because you need to speak with him. She’ll say that she can, adding that Mr. Copper is usually quite busy around this time but is always working so hard.

After a few moments, Ben will appear before you, and you’ll be surprised by his appearance.

He’ll notice that you don’t quite recognize him and he’ll ask you if he has changed. There are three different options to choose from. These options will influence some dialogue that will follow, but they won’t impact the story.

He’ll say he’s surprised to hear you’re here and add that he hasn’t had any visitors since you finished school.

To catch up with Ben, you need to earn five stars within three hours. Three stars are required to pass.

Bonus progress actions are tied to Ben and your character. Prioritize these actions to save some energy. Slide the screen left and right to check all available actions.

You’ll say that it sounds like quite a culture shock coming here, but you’re glad he’s managed to settle in. You’ll add that he seems to be quite popular. He’ll reply that he thinks people are just surprised that he’s British, so they’re extra kind to him.
He’ll say that he’s doing really well here. There are three different options to choose from. All of them will eventually lead to the same outcome, so feel free to take your pick.

You’ll say that you need his help, but he’ll reply that he first needs to go to Washington Square Park to obliviate some people.

Proceed to the Washington Square Park when you are ready. Upon arriving, you’ll notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you’re curious to see what they have to say. Ben will explain that part of his job as an Obliviator involves erasing the memories of Muggles who witness magic.

He’ll mention that multiple people need their memories erased, which requires discretion and stealth.

To learn about Ben’s job, you need to earn five stars within eight hours. All five stars are required to pass. Since this task requires a lot of energy, it is recommended to start it with a full energy bar.

Bonus progress actions are tied to the kid, Ben, and your character. Prioritize these actions to save some energy.

He’ll explain that using a wand in public to Obliviate someone is difficult, which is why nonverbal and wandless magic is a key skill he learned. He’ll also mention that it’s unusual to have to come to the park so many times in a week and that this time was different—people saw a wizard appear out of nowhere and fall into the fountain.
There are two different options to choose from. These options will influence some dialogue that will follow, but they won’t impact the story.

Ben will say that he doesn’t know how long you’ll be in the area, but feel free to reach out if you need anything. He’ll also ask you to send his regards to all your friends. After that, you’ll prepare to create a Portkey. Trace the wand movement to cast Portus.

Go to the ROCC Division to continue the story. You successfully teleport back to work, and at that moment, Vega will arrive and commend your skills for a first attempt.

You will ask her if she has been here the whole time, and she will respond that she has traveled halfway across the world and just returned. She will mention that she hoped to meet you to ask about your first case. You’ll tell her about what happened, explaining how you fell into the middle of a fountain. She will then ask if you think the doors dropped you in the wrong place.
There are two different options to choose from. These options will influence some dialogue that will follow, but they won’t impact the story.

Following that, she will ask what you discovered. You will tell her that it took some investigating, but you figured out that you were in New York. You will also mention that you visited your friend Ben, who works for MACUSA, and learned that he’s had to Obliviate a lot of people in Washington Square Park.

Shortly after, Vega will ask you, based on what you know and what she told you, what you think you should do next. There are three different options to choose from. All of them will eventually lead to the same outcome, so feel free to take your pick.

In any case, Vega will advise you that you never know how or when a curse is activated; sometimes just observing gives you the most information. She will say, “Just remember that you were chosen for the ROCC for a reason,” adding that you are smart and capable.

Following that, Olivia will appear and add that she needs help choosing a book for Jacob.

You’ll say you’re sure Jacob will appreciate the thought. You’ll wonder what your friends are doing in the lobby.

You’ll need to wait four hours before you can continue. Since this chapter is not time-limited, it is recommended to wait until this timer runs out.

Proceed to the Ministry of Magic when you are ready to check on your friends. Upon arriving, you’ll notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you’re curious to see what they have to say. When you arrive, you’ll see Barnaby, Talbot, and Tonks.

You’ll ask them what they’re doing, and they’ll reply that they’re taking a break before going back to work. You’ll mention that Olivia said she heard them talking about books.

You’ll find out that Barnaby is training a new puppy, Tonks is working on her Auror training, and Talbott is being sent on raids.

Tonks will say that the thing keeping her from burning out is how excited Barnaby is for his Uncle Cecil to meet Lockhart.

Barnaby will add that his uncle adores Gilderoy Lockhart and that he’ll finally get all of his book copies signed, mentioning that he must have about a dozen copies of each book. This will remind him to toss a coin into the wishing fountain.

Barnaby will say that he wished for Uncle Cecil to meet Lockhart at the signing.

Barnaby will ask if you’re excited about the event at Flourish and Blotts. There are two different options to choose from. These options will influence some dialogue that will follow, but they won’t impact the story.

You’ll ask him if the event at Flourish and Blotts is starting soon.

Now that you have completed the story, you can start the mandatory and optional chapter tasks. You need to complete one mandatory chapter task and two optional chapter tasks to unlock the next chapter. When you complete three tasks, the fourth one that is left will disappear.
Go to the Three Broomsticks to start the mandatory chapter task. When you arrive, you’ll run into Cedric Diggory, who will ask for your help in preparing for the next school year.

You’ll need to complete several objectives to finish this mandatory chapter task. Feel free to do them in any order you prefer.

While doing these objectives, it is recommended to select the duration that matches their star requirements.

Prioritize actions with bonus progress whenever they are available.

Try your best to complete all of the mini-tasks to earn some additional attribute points.

Once you complete all of the tasks, hit the Collect button and return to the Three Broomsticks.

After you complete all the objectives, you can claim the reward in the Wizarding World section of the Wizarding Life tab.
