Chapter 27 – Now That’s What I Call A Cursed CD!
Introduction
Hello everyone, welcome to our Walkthrough for Chapter Twenty-Seven of Year Seven of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. During the previous chapter, you informed Mad-Eye Moody about the laughing curse. He suspected that it was caused by the Alihotsy Draught, so you went back to St. Mungo’s to investigate it.
After searching through the Hospital Ward, you found an empty bottle of pumpkin juice under Jacob’s bed. You took it to Professor Snape for examination, and thankfully, he agreed to analyze it. While waiting for the results, you talked to Corey, and both of you agreed to confront Merula soon. Unfortunately, Professor Snape told you that he didn’t find any traces of Alihotsy Draught in the bottle you gave him, so you went back to St. Mungo’s to meet your friends and figure out what caused the laughing curse.
Eventually, you realize that the curse was most likely caused by a cursed object. Sadly, you couldn’t figure out which object was responsible for it. While you were discussing it with your friends, the swan Patronus showed up again and pointed at one of the get-well gifts Jacob received, the CD. You realized that it might be a cursed object, so you decided to have it analyzed by Professor Flitwick.

Walkthrough
Before you take the CD to him, you should first finish the lessons, so proceed to the Divination classroom when you are ready. To unlock the Smoke Patterns lesson, you will need to earn a total of nine stars from Divination classes. Select the class duration suitable to your liking and hit Start to begin.

While doing these classes, focus on the bonus progress actions to save as much energy as possible.

Try to successfully complete the mini-tasks to earn some extra Empathy points.

Head back to the classroom once you unlock the lesson. To complete the Smoke Patterns lesson, you need to earn five stars within eight hours. All five stars are needed to pass.

Other than the passing requirements, there isn’t much of a difference between this one and most of the regular Divination classes.


Once you are done, proceed to the Muggle Studies for the second lesson of the chapter. Unlocking the Roller Blades lesson requires earning nine stars from the Muggle Studies. Select the class duration you prefer and hit Start when you are ready to begin.

As always, prioritize bonus progress actions if you are looking to save some energy.

Completing the mini-tasks will grant you some Empathy points, so try your best to do all of them successfully.

Head back to Muggle Studies once you earn enough stars to unlock the lesson. To complete the Roller Blades lesson, you will need to earn five stars within eight hours. All five stars are needed to pass.

During the lesson, Professor Sikander will ask you a question about this Muggle artifact.

Upon earning the fifth star, you will get to study the Roller Blades. Trace the path on the screen to do so.

Now that you’re done with the lessons, you can continue the story. Head to the Charms classroom to meet Professor Flitwick. When you get there, you will notice that the professor is talking to Merula. As it seems, it has something to do with her assignment.

She will gaze at the CD once you place it on the desk.

You’ll thank Merula for the advice she gave you, but she won’t be sure what you’re talking about.

She will be glad to see you and say that everyone at Hogwarts has been missing you ever since you started working on assignments for the Ministry and St. Mungo’s. You’ll notice that she is not behaving like her usual self… almost as if she was someone else…
She will ask if you have anything to say about her being kind. There are two options to reply with. If you like Merula, it is recommended to pick the second option.

Moments later, she will leave the classroom. Corey will find her behavior very odd. The following lines will differ, based on your previous choice.


Professor Flitwick will ask you about the cursed object, and you’ll tell him about the CD and warn him not to touch it. The professor will ask you to tell him everything you know about the curse. Explaining the curse requires earning five stars within three hours. Three stars are needed for it to pass.

There are bonus progress actions tied to Corey and the CD. Prioritize those if you want to save some energy.

Professor Flitwick will go over the things you said.


Corey will ask if he can break the curse, and he’ll say that he can. However, he will need to consult his notes before doing anything. You’ll notice the worried look on Corey’s face, so you’ll ask her about it.
She’ll point out that Merula saw the cursed CD, saying there is a chance she might still be working with ‘R’, in which case she probably went to inform them. You’ll quickly decide to go after her and finally confront her about everything.

The following task doesn’t require you to spend any energy, so you can proceed to the Whomping Willow as soon as possible. When you arrive, you will notice Merula transfiguring a note into a black quill.

You’ll quickly yell at her to stop.

She will be surprised to see you, and you’ll tell her that you cannot allow her to send the letter, but Merula will try to convince you that it’s just an ordinary quill.

You’ll interrupt her and say that it is time to stop playing games.

You will tell her that you know she is a member of ‘R’.


Instead of saying anything, Merula will attack you with the Blasting Curse.

You will quickly cast the Shield Charm to protect yourself. Trace the path on the screen to do so.

Luckily, you will manage to shield yourself just before the spell hits you.

Given no other option, you’ll decide to duel Merula. The task window will display the recommended attribute levels as well as the cost of the duel. Hit Start when you are ready to begin.

Generally speaking, the recommended attribute levels for this duel aren’t that high. If your Courage or Empathy are at least three levels higher than the recommended ones, you should be able to easily win this duel. Simply go either Aggressive (in case of Empathy) or Sneaky (in case of Courage) and use Depulso or Flipendo. This way, you should win the duel in two turns, as long as you don’t get stunned.
In case your attribute levels are close to the recommended ones, there are some other tactics you can use. You can go Aggressive during the first turn and use Incendio. If you get the burn effect, you can follow up with Aggressive or Sneaky and use Depulso or Flipendo. However, if you don’t get the burn effect, or if you get stunned, you might lose the duel. Lastly, you could simply just go Aggressive on every turn and use Depulso. With some luck, you should be able to win the duel.


Merula will be surprised that you won the duel.

You’ll tell her that you are protecting your friends from ‘R’ and from her.


Merula will give you a curious look.

You’ll say that she betrayed everyone in the Circle of Khanna by joining ‘R’. On top of that, she attacked you for simply trying to protect those you care about. Merula will look down and say that she thought you were someone else.
You will ask if she’s talking about the Metamorphmagus from ‘R’. Merula will say there are so many things you aren’t aware of. You’ll suggest talking about it, but Merula won’t be comfortable having a conversation at the Whomping Willow since there’s a chance someone from ‘R’ might show up.

She’ll ask you to guess the person she’s talking about. There are three options to choose from. The correct answer is the Metamorphmagus.

Shortly after, Merula will ask you to meet her in the Potions classroom. You will need to wait two hours before you can continue. Since you will likely be low on energy at this point, it is recommended to wait and let your energy recharge in the meantime.

Head to the Potions classroom once the waiting time is over. You will wonder why Merula wanted to meet in the Potions classroom. She’ll explain that it is the place you first met. The choice that you made during Year 1 Chapter 2 will take effect here.

You’ll be surprised she remembers that. She will admit that you were right about her joining ‘R’ and you will ask her to start from the beginning.

Learning about Merula requires earning five stars within eight hours. All five stars are needed to pass.

The only bonus progress action here is tied to Merula, so focus on her actions if you want to save some energy.

You’ll learn that Merula joined ‘R’ to become more powerful.

Unfortunately, her power didn’t come without a cost, and Merula realized that it wasn’t worth it. Because of that, she decided to start slipping you any information she could.
You’ll mention the message she wrote about wanting to leave ‘R’, and Merula will be surprised that you know about it. She’ll say that ‘R’ strongly discouraged her from leaving them. However, she will make it clear that she’s not working with them anymore.

She’ll say that she just wanted to let them know she is done with their organization. She will go on and inform you that she wants to take down ‘R’ and prove she is the Most Powerful Witch at Hogwarts. You will think for a moment and then suggest she stay in ‘R’.


She won’t like the sound of that.

You’ll explain your idea and say that you want her to work as a double agent. She’ll assume that Corey was the one who came up with the idea. You will notice that she doesn’t really trust Corey.

You’ll say that you plan to take ‘R’ down from the inside. But in order to do that, you will need Merula working as a double agent. After considering it for a moment, she will agree to your proposition.
She’ll say that she needs to know one thing. She will ask if you could ever forgive her for everything she’s done. There are three options to choose from. If you like Merula, it is HIGHLY recommended to pick the second option.

If you decide to forgive Merula, she will thank you and promise not to let you down. Shortly after, Corey will enter the classroom and say that Professor Flitwick figured out how to break the curse.

You will need to wait four hours before you can continue. Since you will probably be out of energy, it is recommended to simply wait until the timer runs out.

Proceed to the Charms classroom once the waiting time is over. Corey will inform you that Professor Flitwick is going to arrive soon.

You’ll be glad to hear that. Corey will ask you about your confrontation with Merula. Before you get to say anything, you will receive a barrage of questions.


You’ll calmly say that you can discuss it later since helping the victims of the laughing curse should be your top priority. Moments later, Professor Flitwick will arrive. He’ll be glad to see you.

He’ll inform you that the only way to break the curse is to destroy the cursed object. You’ll be eager to destroy the cursed CD. However, some preparations should be done before that. Professor Flitwick will ask Corey and you to help him prepare to destroy the cursed object.
Preparing to destroy the cursed CD requires earning five stars within eight hours. All five stars are needed to pass.

There is a bonus progress action tied to your character. Prioritize it if you want to save a bit of energy.

Once the preparations are done, Professor Flitwick will be ready to cast Expulso to destroy the cursed CD. He’ll raise his wand and cast the spell.


Unfortunately, it won’t have any effect on the CD.


Suddenly, Professor Flitwick will start laughing uncontrollably.


Corey will figure out that the cursed CD is somehow protected from magic and you’ll suggest taking a different approach.
