Chapter 4 – A New Assignment

Introduction

Hello everyone, welcome to our Walkthrough for Chapter Four of Year Seven of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. During the previous chapter, Corey and you decided to observe Merula during the Muggle Studies class to see if you could spot anything out of the ordinary. Once the class ended, you saw Merula transfiguring a note into a black quill, which Ismelda took a moment later.

You decided to follow her and obtain the note. Eventually, she went into the Owlery, and after searching the place with Talbott, you found the quill. After untransfiguring it, you read the note and learn that Merula is supposed to meet with someone in the Artefact Room after supper. Corey and you decided to wait for her, and after a while, she showed up, accompanied by a hooded person. You followed them into the Artefact Room and discovered that Merula was meeting with Badeea.

However, the reason why they were meeting was that Merula was falling behind in classes, and she needed Badeea’s help to catch up. Lastly, Tonks informed you that Professor Dumbledore wants to see you in his office.

Before going there, you should take care of the lessons. Head to the Training Grounds when you are ready. To unlock the Surfing Loop lesson, you need to obtain nine stars from the Flying Classes. Select the class duration suitable to your liking and hit Start to begin.

As always, focus on the bonus progress actions whenever they are available. This should save you some energy.

Try your best to complete all of the mini-tasks successfully to earn some extra Courage points.

Return to the Training Grounds once you obtain enough stars to unlock the lesson. Learning the Surfing Loop maneuver requires earning five stars within eight hours. All five stars are needed to pass.

Madam Hooch will ask you a question related to this lesson.

Upon earning the fifth star, you’ll be tasked with demonstrating the Surfing Loop maneuver. Trace the path on the screen to do so.

Once you are ready, proceed to Muggle Studies to attend the second lesson of the chapter. To complete the Rotary Phone lesson, you need to earn five stars within eight hours. All five stars are needed to pass.

Since this is your first Muggle Studies lesson (not counting the story lesson from the previous chapter), there will be some interesting details about it. Like with most other lessons, focus on the 5-cost actions to save as much energy as possible.

During the lesson, Professor Sikander will ask you a question about rotary phones.

Once you earn the fifth star, you will get to study the rotary phone. Trace the path on the screen to do so.

Now that you’re done with the lessons, you can go to the Headmaster’s office to meet Professor Dumbledore. When you arrive, you will notice that some of your friends were also invited.

Barnaby will make sure to extensively check if everyone is present.

Professor Dumbledore will smile and say it’s good to double-check. He’ll then remind you of your arrangement. You’ll ask if it’s about exploring your future career options, finding it hard to contain your excitement. Professor Dumbledore will nod and ask you to listen carefully to the details. Listening to the Headmaster requires earning five stars within three hours. Only one star is needed to pass.

There is a bonus progress action linked to Professor Dumbledore, so focus on his actions if you want to save a bit of energy.

The Headmaster will remind you that you’ll represent Hogwarts during your visit to the Ministry of Magic. He’ll inquire if any of you have questions about the trip. Remembering that he selected you based on your talents and interests, you’ll ask him about it. He’ll nod and express his belief that all six of you are excellent candidates for the Ministry.

Professor Dumbledore will then elaborate on why he chose each of you. For Tonks, he’ll mention her dependability, Barnaby for his loyalty, Liz for her knowledge, Charley for his bravery, and Ben for his steadfastness.

As for you, the Headmaster will want to hear your own opinion. There are three options to choose from. This choice will have some impact on certain dialogues later on, but it won’t change the story significantly, so feel free to choose the option you prefer.

Professor Dumbledore will also add that another reason he chose you was because you successfully sealed the Cursed Vaults, saving everyone at Hogwarts from their terrible curse. As a result, you’ll be starting in the Department of Magical Law Enforcement.

Tonks will be incredibly excited to hear that.

Professor Dumbledore will suggest that you balance your time at the Ministry with your studies. Shortly after, he’ll return to his work. Charlie will express a slight concern that his father might embarrass him at the Ministry. Tonks, on the other hand, won’t seem too worried about it.

You’ll chuckle and caution her not to knock something over during the visit. Tonks will find it odd that you aren’t too excited about it.

You’ll express excitement but admit you don’t know much about the Ministry of Magic. Charlie will offer to tell you about it, and you’ll accept, suggesting meeting in the Courtyard.

You will have to wait three hours until Charlie is ready to meet with you. Since you will likely be low on energy at this point, it is recommended to wait and let your energy recharge in the meantime.

Proceed to the Courtyard once the waiting time is over. When you arrive, you’ll be able to interact with some of your friends and see what they have to say. You’ll thank Charlie for offering to tell you about the Ministry of Magic.

Charlie will mention that the Ministry is indeed a good place to consider for the future. You’ll ask him to tell you about the departments of the Ministry, and Charlie will be more than happy to satisfy your curiosity, revealing that there are many different departments. Learning about the Ministry requires earning five stars within three hours. Three stars are needed to pass.

There are bonus progress actions tied to Charlie and your character. Focus on those if you want to save some energy.

You will be surprised to learn there are so many different departments within the Ministry. In other words, there are plenty of careers to consider there.

Charlie will nod and mention that his dad often says the same thing. Curious, you’ll ask him about the department his father works in. Charlie will explain that it’s a division of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement but separate from the Aurors.

You’ll ask if Charlie ever considered working with his dad. He’ll admit that working there isn’t something he thinks he’s suited for. Instead, he’ll express a preference for working in the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures.

You’ll chuckle and comment that working there would definitely suit him, especially since he likes magical creatures so much. Charlie will reveal that he’s already considered an alternative in case working in the Ministry doesn’t work out for him.

If you completed Adventures in Curse Breaking, you will get some extra dialogue lines.

He’ll then ask if you feel ready for the trip. There are two options to reply with. None of these will have any huge impact on the story, so feel free to pick either option.

You’ll thank Charlie for taking the time to talk to you, and he’ll express that he’s more than happy to do so. The only thing left is to get some Floo Powder.

You will decide to ask Professor Snape for it.

Go to the Potions classroom when you are ready. Once you arrive, you’ll notice Professor Sikander talking to Professor Snape about Muggle chemistry.

When Professor Sikander sees both Tonks and you approaching, he’ll greet you. You’ll mention that you wanted to ask Professor Snape about some Floo Powder. Snape will quickly state that he’s not busy and become curious to know why you need Floo Powder. You’ll inform him that you’re going to the Ministry of Magic, and Tonks won’t be able to hide her excitement.

Professor Sikander will find her enthusiasm admirable. He will go on to compare Aurors to Muggle equivalents, but sadly, he will be interrupted by Professor Snape before he gets to finish the sentence.

The choice that you made in the Headmaster’s office will take effect here.

Tonks will add that Professor Dumbledore handpicked some of you. After giving it some thought, Snape will ask you to prove you understand how to use Floo Powder properly. Reviewing Floo Powder requires earning five stars within eight hours. All five stars are needed to pass.

There are two bonus progress actions tied to your character. Because of that, prioritize your own actions to save as much energy as possible.

You will sum up some of the facts about Floo Powder.

Professor Snape will ask you a question about the Floo Network. There are three options to reply with. The correct answer is ‘To arrive at the proper location’.

In the end, Snape will agree to give you some Floo Powder, and you’ll be happy to hear that. Now, all that’s left is to find a fireplace you can use. Shortly after, Corey will enter the classroom, surprising you. She’ll mention having news about your investigation. Unfortunately, before she can share the details, Professor Snape will chase all of you out of his classroom.

You’ll decide to go to the Great Hall and discuss the case there. Head to the Great Hall when you are ready to talk to Corey. Upon arriving, you will notice the speech bubbles above some of your friends. Tap on those if you are interested to see what they have to say. Corey will say that she has a star witness, Beatrice Haywood.

It appears she knows something about Merula. You’ll then have the opportunity to hear what Beatrice has to say. This requires earning five stars within an hour. Three stars are needed to pass.

There are bonus progress actions linked to Corey and your character. Focus on those if you want to save some energy.

According to Beatrice, Merula has been going to the Whomping Willow recently. After sharing this information, Beatrice will decide to leave the Great Hall, and Corey will thank her for her help.

She’ll then ask for your opinion. There are three options to reply with. This choice won’t have any huge impact on the story, so feel free to take your pick.

You’ll recall that the members of ‘R’ used to leave messages at the Whomping Willow. Corey will suggest checking there for clues, and you’ll agree. However, due to your imminent departure for the Ministry of Magic, the investigation will have to wait. Corey will take it upon herself to keep an eye on Merula in the meantime. Shortly after, Tonks will arrive and inform you that it’s time to head to the Ministry.

Tonks will share that she found the perfect fireplace in Hogsmeade, but you’ll need to persuade the owner to let you use it.

You will need to wait four hours before you can go there. Since your energy is likely low at this point, it is recommended to wait and let it recharge in the meantime.

Head to the Three Broomsticks once the waiting time is over. Upon arriving, you will be able to interact with some of the characters. Tonks, and you will approach Madam Rosmerta and kindly ask if you could use her fireplace to Floo to the Ministry of Magic.

She will be incredibly proud of both of you once she hears that. Also, she will agree to let you use her fireplace.

Both of you will promise to be careful. Moments later, you’ll start moving towards the fireplace. Tonks will suddenly stop and express her disbelief that you’re soon going to explore the Ministry of Magic.

You’ll smile at her and explain that all you have to do is step into the fireplace and throw in the Floo Powder. However, Tonks will suddenly start to feel hesitant.

She will wonder if she’ll be a good Auror. There are two options to reply with. If you like Tonks, it is highly recommended to pick the first option.

Seeing her hesitation, you’ll offer Tonks some words of encouragement, and she’ll happily accept them. Giving Tonks a pep talk requires earning five stars within three hours. All five stars are needed to pass, which is why it’s recommended not to start this task if your energy is low.

Be sure to slide the screen left and right to see all the available actions. There are bonus progress actions linked to Tonks and your character. Prioritize those if you are looking to save as much energy as possible.

After talking to you, Tonks will be back to her usual self.

She will thank you for your support and kindness. Shortly after, Tonks will step into the fireplace, take out the Floo Powder, and speak the words ‘Ministry of Magic’ loud and clear.

You’ll then start moving towards the fireplace. However, before stepping into it, you will hear a familiar voice behind you.

You’ll express surprise upon seeing Mad-Eye Moody. He’ll inquire if you’re heading to the Ministry of Magic, and you’ll confirm, mentioning that a friend is watching over Merula in your absence. Moody will be pleased to hear that and then issue a warning, stating his belief that there are agents of ‘R’ inside the Ministry.

You’ll inquire if there’s a specific task he wants you to perform at the Ministry. Mad-Eye will advise you to stay vigilant for anything unusual. He’ll assure you that you won’t be alone, as he has contacts within the Ministry assisting him. Intrigued, you’ll ask him to share more details about these contacts.

Unfortunately, he won’t be able to tell you much, and he’ll simply advise you to be careful when you get to the Ministry. Moments later, you will step into the fireplace and use the Floo Powder to travel to the Ministry of Magic.

This will mark the end of Chapter 4 of Year 7. Hit the Collect button to claim your rewards. You will receive 350 Coins and 2000 Experience Points.
