Chapter 48 – Archival Evidence

Introduction

Hello everyone, welcome to our Walkthrough for Chapter Forty-Eight of Year Seven of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. During the previous chapter, you talked to Olivia and informed her about the crown Merula retrieved from the Sunken Vault. After hearing you out, she suggested visiting her old mentor at the Ministry of Magic.

You and Olivia went there, and you met the Ministry Archivist, Elton Elderberry, and his canine companion, Herbert Chewsworthy III. After describing the crown to him, he figured out you’re talking about the Crown of Mneme, an object of legendary power. You learned that anyone who wears the crown gains the ability to project thoughts, memories, and emotions into the minds of others.

You went back to Hogwarts and informed your friends about everything that happened since the last Circle of Khanna meeting. You also met with Jacob at the lakeshore and talked to him about recent events.

Lastly, you went to the Three Broomsticks to spend some time with your friends. Much to your surprise, your father was there, talking to some of your friends. Needless to say, that caught you by surprise, and you asked him to talk to you in private.

But before that, you should take care of lessons and assignments. When you are ready, go to the Transfiguration classroom. To unlock the Rubbish to Raccoon Dog lesson, you need to earn nine stars from Transfiguration classes. Pick the class duration you prefer and hit Start to begin.

As always, prioritize actions with bonus progress to save energy.

Try your best to successfully complete the mini-tasks to earn some additional Knowledge points.

Head back to the classroom once you earn enough stars to unlock the lesson. To complete the Rubbish to Raccoon Dog lesson, you need to earn five stars within three hours. All five stars are required to pass, so avoid starting this task if you are low on energy.

During the lesson, Professor McGonagall will ask you a question about raccoon dogs.

When you earn the fourth star, you’ll be tasked with casting the spell. Trace the wand movement on the screen to complete this task.

When you are done, hit the Collect button to claim your rewards.

You can claim an additional reward in the Transfiguration section of your Hogwarts Record.

Go to the Clocktower Courtyard when you are ready to start the assignment. Diego will tell you that he is on a mission. Apparently, he believes that dancing and dueling are one and the same. He’ll ask you to help him prove it.

You need to do several tasks to complete the assignments. Feel free to do them in any order you prefer. It is also worth noting that one task requires you to win a duel.

While doing these tasks, it is recommended to pick the duration that matches their star requirements.

Prioritize bonus progress actions to save as much energy as possible.

Also, try to successfully complete all of the mini-tasks to earn some additional attribute points.

When you finish all of the tasks, hit the Collect button and return to the courtyard.

Thanks to your research, Diego will be certain that dueling and dancing both have the same source – passion. He will be glad that you helped him prove it.

You will earn a reward for completing the assignment.

Now that you’re done with lessons and assignments, you can continue the story. Go to Hogsmeade when you are ready to talk to your father. When you arrive, you will notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you want to see what they have to say.

Peregrine will say that he had a lovely time talking to your friends. He’ll be glad that you have so many nice friends to help and support you.

You will ask him why he suddenly intruded on your private meeting with your friends. He’ll say that it is a completely normal thing for a dad to do. He’ll explain that he wanted to make sure no one is taking advantage of you.

Peregrine will ask if there’s anything wrong with him meeting your friends. There are three options for you to reply with. This choice won’t significantly impact the story, so feel free to pick the option you prefer.

In any case, your father will reassure you he meant no harm. He will also smile and say that he never regrets getting to see you more. Once again, he will tell you he wants you by his side, in ‘R’. He’ll be confident that together, the two of you could do great things.

You’ll say that he never gave you any proof that the Ministry is corrupted. Peregrine will assume that you don’t know much about the Wizarding War since you were quite young when it happened. You will ask him to tell you everything. After all, you need to know why he is so against the Ministry of Magic.

Listening to your father is your next task. You need to earn five stars within three hours to complete it. Three stars are required to pass.

There are bonus progress actions tied to Peregrine and your character. Prioritize those actions to save some energy.

You’ll learn that your father was in the Wizarding War. He will tell you that he lost many friends during the war. He’ll also say that the Ministry used them as cannon fodder. On top of that, he’ll reveal that some of the Death Eaters found their way into the Ministry. He’ll even name some of them.

Your father will go into more detail and say that Igor Karkaroff is the Headmaster of Durmstrang. As for Macnair and Malfoy, they both claimed they were under the Imperius Curse. If you completed the Meet the Malfoys adventure, you will tell Peregrine you met Lucius and his son, Draco, once.

Your father will also mention Augustus Rookwood, who used to be a spy for the Dark Lord during the Wizarding War. He worked as an Unspeakable. Peregrine will explain that the Unspeakables are not allowed to say what they do, which allowed Rookwood to set up a spy network in the Ministry.

However, he was outed by Karkaroff and sent to Azkaban. Still, there is no saying how many other servants of the Dark Lord are still in the Ministry.

Suddenly, your father will start getting angry. Apparently, all the talk about the corruption within the Ministry made him infuriated. You have two options to try and calm him down. You can either directly tell him to calm down, or you can distract him. Both options will lead to the same outcome, so feel free to pick the one you prefer.

Peregrine will apologize for the outburst. He’ll say that talking about the Wizarding War brings up some bad memories. He will tell you that removing the corrupt members of the Ministry is something that needs to be done.

Still, you won’t be sure if using mind control to force Ministry officials to step down is the right thing to do.

Your father will admit that his plan is rather unconventional. He’ll tell you he already gathered everything needed to put the plan into motion.

You will be surprised to hear that. Peregrine will say that ‘R’ had half of the scroll for some time. He’ll also tell you that, thanks to Merula’s help, they were able to decipher the other half of the scroll. Interestingly enough, he’ll refer to the scroll as ‘his’.

The only thing ‘R’ still needs is a powerful Legilimens. Apparently, one such person can use the power of Legilimency to enter the mind of Ministry officials and plant the suggestion to step down. After a brief moment of silence, your father will say that you are the final piece of the puzzle.

You’ll be shocked to hear that. Before you get the chance to collect your thoughts and ask him anything, Peregrine will say that he needs to go. He will tell you he needs your answer about joining him by the time you graduate. Moments later, he will apparate away.

You will decide to visit Olivia and have a word with her. Hopefully, she will be able to help you. When you are ready, proceed to the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom to meet with her. As soon as she sees you, Olivia will notice that something is troubling you. She will ask you to tell her what’s going on.

You’ll tell her that lately, your father and Jacob are on the same side. Also, you were pushed to make the ‘right decision’ and join ‘R’. On top of that, you’ll tell Olivia you found Peregrine talking to your friends.

Olivia will ask you to tell her everything. You’ll say that your father finally gave you evidence of corruption in the Ministry, and since Olivia worked there, you will want to hear her opinion. Discussing Ministry corruption is your next task. You need to earn five stars within an hour to complete it. Three stars are required to pass.

There are actions with bonus progress tied to Olivia and your character. Focus on those actions to save energy.

After hearing you out, Olivia will say she is certain there are former Death Eaters working for the Ministry of Magic. You’ll realize that your father was telling the truth. Olivia will say that people often make mistakes, and sometimes they make them unknowingly. Still, messing up with someone’s mind and forcing them to do something is not the right thing to do.

You’ll tell Olivia about your father’s plan to enhance a Legilimens’ power in order to plant suggestions in Ministry officials’ minds. She will say that taking control of someone’s mind is pretty much the same as possessing them.

That will remind you of something Peregrine said earlier. You’ll say that he got upset about the Ministry and started to refer to Dai Ryusaki’s scroll as ‘his’.

You will also tell Olivia that your father said the Ministry destroyed ‘his medical legacy’. Interestingly enough, Peregrine didn’t work as a Healer. Olivia will admit that all of that sounds a bit strange.

You’ll ask her what to do. Before answering your question, Olivia will ask you what you are most afraid of. There are three options to choose from. There is no wrong answer here. Simply be honest and pick the option you prefer.

Olivia will promise to be there for you, no matter what happens, expressing gratitude for helping her regain her memories. She’ll admit that you are one of her favorite students and express a desire to be friends with you once you graduate from Hogwarts.

You’ll say that you have a feeling there is something about Dai Ryusaki your father didn’t tell you. Olivia will suggest going back to the Ministry and paying another visit to her old mentor.

You will need to wait four hours before you can continue. Since you will probably be low on energy at this point, it is recommended to wait and let your energy recharge in the meantime.

Go to the Ministry of Magic once the waiting time is over. When you arrive, you will be able to interact with some of the characters and see what they have to say. On your way to Elton, you’ll encounter Mad-Eye Moody, who you’ll learn knows Olivia. She’ll notice a man standing next to Mad-Eye, whom he’ll introduce as his associate, Callum McClintock, who will politely greet you and Olivia.

Apparently, Mad-Eye told him about some of your curse-breaking adventures. Moments later, Callum will leave, and you’ll decide to tell Moody about everything that happened recently. You need to earn five stars within three hours to complete this task. All five stars are required to pass, so avoid starting this task if you are out of energy.

There are bonus progress actions linked to Mad-Eye and your character. Prioritize them to save energy.

You’ll learn that Professor Dumbledore already informed Mad-Eye about Olivia’s memories. However, he will be surprised to hear about ‘R’’s plan. Also, the information that your father is the leader of ‘R’ definitely made some things much clearer to Moody.

Mad-Eye will recall you mentioning something about ‘R’ having nearly all the ingredients for Dai Ryusaki’s device. You’ll explain that they need you because you are a Legilimens. Olivia will add that only a powerful Legilimens can use the mind-control device.

Mad-Eye won’t be happy that you didn’t inform him sooner. There are three options for you to reply with. If you like Moody, it is recommended to pick the first option. Otherwise, feel free to pick the one you prefer.

Mad-Eye will remind you that ‘R’ is full of Dark Witches and Wizards, and he’ll advise you to be careful. You will tell him you are trying to learn as much as you can about Ryusaki and his device.

Olivia will mention that you are visiting her mentor, Elton Elderberry. Moody will be slightly surprised to hear that. Shortly after, he will say that he needs to go. He will also say that he wants to talk to you later.

Go to the All-Purpose room when you are ready to meet with Elton. Mr. Elderberry will be glad to see you and Olivia. Apparently, he and his canine companion, Herbert Chewsworthy III were talking about Degas.

Elton will ask if you’d like to join him for some tea. There are two options to reply with. If you want to be polite, it is recommended to pick the first option.

Moments later, Elton will prepare tea. Olivia will say that his tea is way better than the one that’s served at Hogwarts.

Shortly after, you’ll say that you want to learn more about Dai Ryusaki. You will ask Mr. Elderberry if he has something you could research.

Elton will wonder why you are interested in learning more about Dai Ryusaki. Olivia will reassure you that you can freely open up to her mentor. Explaining the situation is your next task. You need to earn five stars within three hours to complete it. Three stars are required to pass.

There are actions with bonus progress tied to Elton and your character. Focus on those actions to save energy.

You will tell Elton the whole story. Olivia will ask him if the two of you can pay a visit to the archives. After thinking about it for a moment, Mr. Elderberry will agree to let you go to the archives.

You’ll need to wait three hours before you can continue. Since you will likely be low on energy, it is recommended to wait until this timer runs out.

Go to the Ministry Archives once the waiting time is over. This is the first time you’ll find yourself inside the Ministry Archives. Olivia will tell you that hundreds of years of wizarding history are held there.

You’ll ask Mr. Elderberry if he is in charge of the archives. He’ll chuckle and say that Herbert helps him organize everything. You will take a good look and notice that the place is enormous.

Elton will be curious to know what you think of the place. There are three options to choose from. If you pick the third option, Elton will get slightly upset, so it is recommended to avoid selecting that one.

Shortly after, Elton will go to finish his afternoon tea, and you will start looking for information related to Dai Ryusaki. You need to earn five stars within eight hours to complete this task. All five stars are required to pass.

This task is divided into three sections. Each of them has different actions, and after filling one-third of the total star meter, you will switch to the next section. Sadly, there are no bonus progress actions in the first two sections. During the third section, you will find an action with bonus progress tied to your character. Prioritize it to save a bit of energy.

When you are done, you will find some documents that were written by Dai Ryusaki. After reading them, you will learn that Ryusaki wanted to use the Crown of Mneme to help the medical community. Apparently, he was trying to build a device to help patients with traumatic memories.

However, Ryusaki was afraid that his creation could be dangerous in the wrong hands, so he hid the scroll away. After reading the documents, you will realize that Dai Ryusaki wasn’t a Dark Wizard.

You will wonder if your father knew anything about that. Needless to say, using Ryusaki’s device could have devastating effects, so you will decide to warn Peregrine about it.

Shortly after, Chapter 48 of Year 7 will conclude. Hit the Collect button to claim your rewards. You will receive 350 Coins and 2000 Experience Points.
