Chapter 49 – Revelations

Introduction

Hello everyone, welcome to our Walkthrough for Chapter Forty-Nine of Year Seven of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. In the previous chapter, you talked with your father in Hogsmeade about his sudden intrusion. During the conversation, he referred to Rysaki’s scroll as his. Once again, he reminded you that you soon need to decide if you are joining ‘R’.

After that, you visited Olivia in her office to talk about everything that happened. Olivia suggested visiting her old mentor, so the two of you went to the Ministry of Magic. On the way there, you met Mad-Eye Moody, and you filled him in on the recent events. You then talked to Elton Elderberry and asked him if he had any information about Ryusaki.

Thankfully, Elton allowed you to visit the archives, and after digging through some old files, you learned that Ryusaki wasn’t a dark vizard. His goal was to create a device that would help with traumatic memories. Next, you should talk to Elton about the information you discovered.

But before that, you should finish your lessons and assignments. Go to the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom when you are ready to start a lesson. To unlock the Nogtail lesson, you need to earn nine stars from Defence Against the Dark Arts classes. Pick the class duration you prefer and hit Start to begin.

Prioritize actions with bonus progress to save energy.

Try your best to successfully complete all the mini-tasks in order to earn some extra Courage points.

Return to the classroom when you have enough stars to start the lesson. To complete the Nogtail lesson you need to earn five stars within three hours. All five stars are required to pass.

Treat this lesson just like the classes you had beforehand and you should have no trouble with it.

When you’re done, hit the Collect button to claim your rewards. You can claim an additional reward in the Defence Against the Dark Arts section of your Hogwarts Record.

Go to the Ministry Office when you are ready to start the assignment. Olivia will tell you that Elton is looking for an important file. Your task will be to search the Ministry and find the missing file.

You will have to do several tasks to complete the assignment. Feel free to do them in any order you prefer.

It is recommended to select the task duration that matches its star requirements.

As always, focus on the bonus progress actions to save as much energy as possible.

Try to complete all of the mini-tasks successfully to gain some extra attribute points.

When you finished all of the tasks, hit the collect button and go back to the Ministry Office.

You’ll tell Olivia that you’ve found the missing file behind a cabinet in the Spirit Division. Interestingly enough, the document was actually Elton’s personal recipe for shepherd’s pie.

You will earn a reward for completing the assignment.

Now that you’re done with the lessons and assignments, you can continue with the story. Go to the Ministry All-Purpose Room when you are ready to talk with Elton. Upon arriving, you will notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on them if you are curious to see what they have to say.

You will thank Elton for letting you visit the Archives. You will inform Elton about your discovery that Dai Ryusaki had intended to use his device to help the medical community, but Ryusaki later realized that the device was too dangerous, so he decided to destroy it. Elton will be happy to share what he can recall about the day Ryusaki was captured.

To learn about Ryusaki’s capture, you need to earn five stars within one hour. Three stars are required to pass.

There is a bonus progress action tied to Elton. Prioritize it to save a bit of energy.

You will learn from Elton that the International Confederation of Wizards put out a task force to capture Ryusaki. However, it was all a miscommunication. In order to avoid embarrassment, the whole team was covered up.

Olivia will say it is wrong to rewrite history. She’ll add that Ryusaki’s creation was meant to help medical patients process their trauma. Elton will want to hear your opinion. If you like Olivia and agree that covering the incident was wrong, you should pick the second option.

Elton will tell you that he was a part of the task force sent to capture Ryusaki. You will be surprised to hear that. Olivia will grin and remind you that her former mentor is older than soda water. Elton will regret being a part of the whole thing, and he’ll say that it was his greatest mistake. That was the reason he left his job as a Hit Wizard and became an Unspeakable.

You’ll decide to talk with your father about everything you’ve just learned. You will need to wait three hours before you can continue. Since you will probably be low on energy, it is recommended to wait and let your energy recharge in the meantime.

Go to the Leaking Cauldron once the waiting time is over. You will tell Father that what you’ve learned from the Ministry’s Archives might change his perspective on “R’’s mind-control plan.

To explain what you’ve learned you need to obtain five stars within three hours. All five stars are required to pass.

Your father will be skeptical about your findings, thinking that whatever you read in the Archives is a lie from the Ministry.

Father will wonder if this conversation is just a ploy to stall your decision to join ‘R’. You can agree or deny it, but whatever you choose, it will not impact the story much.

Before leaving, your father will drop a strange-looking amulet. He’ll quickly pick it up and exit the place without saying anything.

You will recognize that Ryusaki was wearing the same amulet in his portraits. You will decide to go back to the Archives to check his portraits again.

You will surprise Elton with your quick return, but he’ll be glad to see you again. You will ask if he remembers anything about Dai Ryusaki’s amulet. Elton will say that Ryusaki had a lot of jewelry, but he won’t be able to fully recall the details about the amulet. He will then suggest that you read a file he gave you while he researches other documents.

To complete your research about the amulet, you need to obtain five stars within eight hours. All five stars are required to pass.

There is an action with bonus progress tied to Elton. By prioritizing this action, you will save some energy.

You will find out that the amulet was stolen from the Ministry. That amulet always drew the attention of dark wizards and witches. Even worse, the amulet has a power that turns its wearers into dark wizards. You will be concerned if this is also happening to your father now.

Elton will think that the Ministry is the safest place for the amulet to be, despite the amulet being previously stolen from it. You can suggest some other places that might be safer, like Hogwarts or Gringotts, or you can agree with Elton about the Ministry.

You’ll decide to visit an expert for the enchanted artifacts, Arthur Weasley. You will need to wait four hours before you can continue.

Once the waiting time is over, visit Mr. Weasly at the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. Once you arrive at the Department, you can interact with the characters that have speech bubbles above their heads to hear what they have to say.

You will thank Mr. Weasly for agreeing to talk with you. He will ask you about Jacob. Mr. Weasly will be glad to hear Jacob is reconnecting with your father.

Mr. Weasly will see that you are not very happy about Jacob, so he will ask you if there is something wrong with it. This choice won’t have any big impact on the story, so feel free to choose whichever you like. To learn more from Arthur Weasly about enchanted objects, you need to earn five stars within three hours. Three stars are required to pass.

An action with the bonus progress will be tied to Mr. Weasly, so don’t forget to click this action in order to save some energy.

Mr. Weasly will explain that you can sense if an object is enchanted only if you interact with it, which is not ideal with dark charms. In the case of Dark magic, you can detect its presence by feeling it, like chills down your spine.

You will try to remember if you have any experience with the cursed objects and how it affected you. You will recall the cursed CD from St. Mungo’s. If you completed the Dragon’s Quest adventure, you will also remember the bludger that Gwenog Jones bewitched.

Arthur Weasly will send you to the All-Purpose Room to meet the Curse Expert, so you can find out more.

When you arrive in the All-Purpose Room, you can interact with other characters by clicking their speech bubbles. You will meet the Curse Expert. He is Callum McClintock, whom you met in the previous chapter. He will already know that you are interested in cursed amulets, which will be strange because you haven’t told anyone about it.

He will refuse to talk about himself and will bring a pile of books that contain all the reports about cursed amulets and their effects for the last two hundred years.

To review the Cursed Amulet Reports with Callum, you need to earn five stars within three hours. You need one star in order to pass.

Actions with bonus progress will be tied to your character and Callum. Save some energy by prioritizing these actions.

You will find out that magic is very influential because it is driven by casters’ emotions, causing a lot of accidents to happen. Even objects can be cursed in such situations, because of intense negative emotions.

Callum will then ask you why you are so interested in the cursed amulets. He suspects you found one. You can be honest with him or lie and say that it’s just your casual interest. These options won’t affect the story much, so feel free to choose whatever you like.

Before leaving, you will find out that Callum is a janitor. You will be confused since it is extremely unlikely that a janitor can know all of the information Callum told you.

This will conclude Chapter 49 of Year 7. Hit the Collect button to claim your rewards. You will receive 2000 Experience Points and 350 Coins.
