Chapter 8 – Back to Hogwarts

Introduction

Hello everyone, welcome to our Walkthrough for Chapter Eight of Year Seven of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. Previously, you told Mad-Eye Moody that the enchanted windows were most likely cursed. Upon hearing that, he tasked Tonks and you with solving the mystery and breaking the curse. You started the investigation by talking to Mr. Munch and asking him if he saw anyone suspicious lately. Sadly, he didn’t see anything out of the ordinary, so you decided to go through his documents to see if you could find anything.

Luckily, you found out that Reg Cattermole checked in twice during the morning. Mr. Munch said that Reg never left the Ministry, so you went to investigate the matter further. After talking to Reg, you learned that someone else was posing as him, and that person more than likely cursed the enchanted windows. You discussed the whole matter with Ben and Tonks and figured out that the culprit is probably Metamorphmagus.

Shortly after, Tonks left in a hurry, and you found the suspicious-looking chest in the Auror Office. Once you opened it, you found the real Tonks trapped inside, and you realized that Tonks, who left the office, was the culprit. You tried looking for the imposter, but sadly, you didn’t have much luck. In the end, you decided to go back to Hogwarts and take Reg’s wand to Professor Flitwick.

year 7 chapter 8 002

As always, prioritize bonus progress actions to save as much energy as possible.

year 7 chapter 8 003

Also, try completing all the mini-tasks successfully to earn some bonus Courage points.

year 7 chapter 8 004

Return to Care of Magical Creatures once you obtain enough stars to unlock the lesson. Completing the Quintaped lesson requires earning five stars within three hours. All five stars are needed to pass, which is why you shouldn’t start this lesson with an empty energy bar.

year 7 chapter 8 006

Professor Kettleburn will ask you a question about this magical creature.

year 7 chapter 8 007

Once you earn the fifth star, you will be tasked with feeding the Quintaped. Trace the path on the screen to do so.

year 7 chapter 8 008

Proceed to the Ministry Office once you are ready to start the assignment. Mad-Eye will admit that you are quite experienced when it comes to dueling.

year 7 chapter 8 010

Still, you’ll need to work hard in order to achieve dueling mastery, and you’ll tell Mad-Eye you will do everything you can to become a master duelist.

You will need to finish several tasks to complete the assignment. You can feel free to do them in any order you prefer.

year 7 chapter 8 013

For these tasks, it is recommended to select the duration that matches their stars requirements.

year 7 chapter 8 014

Similar to the lessons, focus on bonus progress actions when they are available, to save some energy.

year 7 chapter 8 015

Also, try to complete all of the mini-tasks successfully to earn some extra attribute points.

year 7 chapter 8 016 1

Bear in mind that one of the tasks will require you to win a duel two times. Since this won’t require spending any energy, you can fit it in while doing other tasks. Return to the Ministry Office once you finish all of the tasks. Mad-Eye will be curious to know what you’ve been doing.

year 7 chapter 8 019

You will quickly fill him in.

year 7 chapter 8 020

He will praise your efforts to become a master duelist.

year 7 chapter 8 023

Now that you’ve finished with lessons and assignments, you can continue the story. Head to the Charms Classroom to meet with Professor Flitwick. The professor will be surprised to see you.

year 7 chapter 8 025

You will say you need his help with your assignment and go on to tell him about the enchanted windows curse.

year 7 chapter 8 028

Professor Flitwick will decide to look through his books while you tell him more about your time at the Ministry. This requires earning five stars within three hours. Three stars are needed to pass.

year 7 chapter 8 031

There are two bonus progress actions linked to Professor Flitwick. Prioritize his actions if you want to save some energy.

year 7 chapter 8 032

The professor will be impressed by everything you’ve done at the Ministry so far. He’ll be curious to know your opinion. There are two options to reply with. Both of these will end up with a similar outcome, so feel free to pick the option you prefer.

year 7 chapter 8 034

You will ask if he has any idea what was cast on the windows, and he will say that he does, but he needs the wand that was used to curse the windows to confirm his theory. You will quickly give him Reg’s wand. Still, it will take some time for the Professor to find the last spell cast by the wand.

You’ll ask him how long it will take. Luckily, it won’t take too long, and Professor Flitwick will suggest catching up with your friends in the meantime, mentioning that Corey was looking for you.

year 7 chapter 8 042

You’ll thank him for letting you know.

year 7 chapter 8 043

Before you go, the Professor will tell you he is very proud of you.

year 7 chapter 8 046

You’ll be pleased to hear that. Shortly after, you’ll decide to find Corey and see if anything interesting happened at Hogwarts while you were gone.

Proceed to the Clocktower Courtyard when you are ready. Once you arrive, you will notice the speech bubbles above some of your friends. Tap on those if you are interested to see what they have to say. Upon greeting Corey, you will ask if there’s anything she wants to talk to you about.

year 7 chapter 8 053

She will nod and say she wanted to update you on the investigation. You will be interested to hear what she has to say. Speaking with Corey requires earning five stars within three hours. Only one star is needed to pass.

year 7 chapter 8 057

Normally, it would be recommended to earn a single star and wait for the timer to run out. However, there is a waiting period afterward, which is why you should finish the task as soon as possible. There are bonus progress actions linked to Corey and your character.

year 7 chapter 8 058

You will learn that Merula was going to the Whomping Willow very often.

year 7 chapter 8 059

Corey will point out that the Metamorphmagus responsible for cursing the enchanted windows might be the same one Merula met with in Knockturn Alley. Before you get the chance to comment on that, you will hear a familiar voice behind you.

year 7 chapter 8 065

You’ll turn around and spot Merula approaching. With a grin on her face, she will tease you for being assigned to do maintenance work. You can choose to ignore her insult or react with snark. This choice won’t have any big impact on the story, so feel free to pick either option.

year 7 chapter 8 066

You will wonder how she knew you were doing maintenance work, especially since you haven’t told anyone other than Flitwick and Corey about it. Merula will explain that everyone’s always talking about you, so it was easy for her to find out what you’ve been doing.

She’ll say that, unlike you, she’s been doing something far more important. Unfortunately, she won’t be willing to tell you what exactly she was doing while you were absent.

year 7 chapter 8 072

Moments later, she will leave the courtyard.

year 7 chapter 8 073

Needless to say, you will find Merula’s behavior oddly suspicious. Corey will point out that she’s behaving a lot like her old self. Either way, she will reassure you she will keep an eye on Merula. You will thank her for that. You’ll then decide to see if Professor Flitwick figured out the last spell that was cast using Reg’s wand.

However, you will have to wait four hours until Flitwick is ready to see you. Since you are likely low on energy at this point, it is recommended to wait and let your energy recharge in the meantime.

year 7 chapter 8 081

Head to the Charms classroom once the waiting time is over. You will greet Professor Flitwick and ask if he found out the last spell cast by the wand.

year 7 chapter 8 083

As it seems, his suspicions were correct. He will ask if you know anything about the Atmospheric Charm. There are two options to reply with. None of these will have any big impact on the story, so feel free to take your pick.

year 7 chapter 8 085

You’ll ask if a weather-modifying charm can work on windows. Apparently, that seems to be the case. You will then ask if Meteolojinx Recanto can reverse the effects of the spell. Professor Flitwick will nod and say there are some things you should consider when casting a spell on a window.

Reviewing Meteolojinx Recanto requires earning five stars within three hours. All five stars are needed to pass, which is why it’s recommended not to start this task with an empty energy bar.

year 7 chapter 8 091 1

There are bonus progress actions tied to the blackboard and Flitwick. Focus on those if you want to save some energy.

year 7 chapter 8 092

The Professor will say you are more than ready to use the spell on a window. Hopefully, the spell will work as intended and break the curse. Before you go, Professor Flitwick will return Reg’s wand to you.

year 7 chapter 8 097

He will wish you the best of luck, and you will thank him before heading back to the Ministry. You will need to wait two hours until you can continue. Given that your energy will most likely be low at this point, it is recommended to wait and let it recharge in the meantime.

year 7 chapter 8 101

Proceed to the All-Purpose Room when you are ready. Upon arriving, you will be able to interact with some of the characters and see what they have to say. The overall atmosphere in the room will be gloomy.

year 7 chapter 8 104

Tonks will be very glad to see you, and you’ll be eager to tell her the good news.

year 7 chapter 8 106

Before you get to finish the sentence, Reg will interrupt you and ask you to prove you are not the imposter. There are two options to reply with. Both will end up with a similar outcome, so feel free to take your pick.

year 7 chapter 8 107

Once you’re done proving you are not the imposter, you will ask the two of them to do the same. Tonks will be the first one to confirm her identity.

year 7 chapter 8 109

Reg will also prove he is not the imposter.

year 7 chapter 8 110

You’ll return his wand and tell him you had Professor Flitwick check it. You’ll also say that the wand was used to cast the Atmospheric Charm. Shortly after, you will start preparing to break the curse and return the enchanted windows to their normal state. To do that, you will need to earn five stars within eight hours. All five stars are needed to pass.

year 7 chapter 8 116

Be sure to slide the screen left and right to see all the available actions. There are bonus progress actions tied to your character, Reg, and the window. Focus on those if you want to save as much energy as possible.

year 7 chapter 8 117

Once you’re ready, you will take out your wand and cast Meteolojinx Recanto. Trace the wand movement to do so.

year 7 chapter 8 118

The spell will work as intended, and the windows will be back to normal.

year 7 chapter 8 119

Tonks will be incredibly happy with this turn of events.

year 7 chapter 8 120

You will humbly say that Professor Flitwick played a huge part in breaking the curse. Reg will thank you for what you’ve done. Tonks will suggest having a celebration. Unfortunately, that will have to wait. A Ministry Wizard will arrive to inform you that Mad-Eye Moody wants to have a word with you.

year 7 chapter 8 124

The next task doesn’t involve spending any energy, so proceed to the Portkey Office as soon as possible. Mad-Eye Moody will say that he’s been waiting for a while.

year 7 chapter 8 127

Tonks will tell him that the two of you came as quick as you could. Before starting to discuss anything important, you will suggest confirming your identities first. Mad-Eye will agree with you. He will decide to ask the questions first.

The task window will display the recommended attribute levels and the cost of the task. Hit Start when you are ready to begin.

year 7 chapter 8 132

This task is very similar to most of the friend activities. Select the answers that will reassure Mad-Eye that you are not the imposter. Also, the attribute requirements are fairly low, so you shouldn’t have much trouble completing this task. The images below contain some of the questions and answers to them.

year 7 chapter 8 133
year 7 chapter 8 134
year 7 chapter 8 135

Once he’s done asking questions, Mad-Eye will be certain you are not the imposter. He will then allow you to ask him a question. You will decide to ask him about the advice he gave you before you came to the Ministry of Magic. He will answer your question without hesitating, which will prove he is not the imposter.

year 7 chapter 8 139

Still, there is a matter of confirming Tonks’ identity. She will accidentally knock over some books, which will pretty much prove she is the real Tonks.

year 7 chapter 8 141

You will tell Mad-Eye that you haven’t separated from Tonks ever since you came back, which further proves she’s not the imposter. You will ask Mad-Eye to tell you what happened. As it seems, he figured out why the windows were cursed. Apparently, someone used the distraction caused by cursing the windows to steal a certain Portkey.

year 7 chapter 8 147

You will admit that you were too focused on breaking the curse to investigate anything else. Mad-Eye will agree that breaking the curse was very important. He will thank both of you for helping the Ministry. Still, you will wonder what ‘R’ wants to do with a Portkey.

Tonks will be surprised to hear that. There are two options to reply with. While both of these will result in the same outcome, Mad-Eye will not be too pleased if you choose to go with the first option.

year 7 chapter 8 153

Either way, Tonks will learn that ‘R’ is still active.

year 7 chapter 8 154

You will apologize for not telling her about it sooner.

year 7 chapter 8 155

Thankfully, she won’t hold it against you, and luckily, you didn’t reveal the information to the Metamorphmagus. Other than that, you will need to figure out what ‘R’ wants to do with the Portkey.

year 7 chapter 8 160

This will conclude Chapter 8 of Year 7. Hit the Collect button to claim your rewards. You will receive 350 Coins and 2000 Experience Points.
