Gryffindor Celebration Part 2

Introduction

Hello everyone, welcome to Part 2 of our Walkthrough for Gryffindor Celebration Adventure of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. In the previous part, Ben invited you to meet with him because he had something to reveal—a parchment found in the Gryffindor Common Room, left behind by former Gryffindors. Excited about this discovery, he sought your help to unravel the mystery and prove yourselves as true Gryffindors. Suggesting the use of the Revelio spell to uncover hidden messages, you successfully revealed new words on the parchment. These new clues pointed to Gryffindor’s ghost, Nearly Headless Nick, prompting you and Ben to quickly seek him out.

When you decide to ask Sir Nick a specific question to solve the puzzle and find the next clue, you learn about a former young student who had an incident with bursting mushrooms. These explosive mushrooms nearly took the life of the young Gryffindor, eager to prove himself to his friends. Fortunately, his friends were nearby and managed to save him. Ben proposed knowing where to find these mushrooms, leading you both to the Unicorn Forest.

After a brief search, you located an area with bursting mushrooms. The idea to collect a portion of these mushrooms to unravel the next clue emerged, but caution was crucial to avoid the fate of the previous Gryffindor. Carefully collecting a few mushrooms before they exploded, you suggested to Ben to literally use a clue and advised him to touch one of the mushrooms to the top of the parchment, where the puzzle began. Luckily, this worked, revealing a new trail.

Upon analyzing the new clue, you speculated that the words might be related to potion ingredients. After a short discussion with Ben, you concluded that finding Salamander blood was necessary to proceed to the next clue in this mysterious puzzle, showcasing the true abilities of a Gryffindor.

(Disclaimer: This walkthrough will feature the gameplay from the perspective of a graduate student who belongs to Gryffindor House. Since the adventure is available for students of Year 3 and above, some dialogue, the star, and attribute requirements for certain tasks might be different for you, depending on your current progress with the main story.)

Proceed to the Potions Classroom when you are ready. When you get there, you’ll notice Ismelda, and it will be quite strange to you.

You’ll explain to her that you and Ben are trying to solve a Gryffindor-themed puzzle and need to find salamander blood for the next clue. Then you’ll ask if she knows where Professor Snape keeps it. However, she’ll mention that Snape currently doesn’t have any salamander blood and suggest that you leave her alone. 

Ben will recall that Ismelda has a vial of salamander blood with her. To this, she will respond that she indeed has it because she enjoys the scent.

You’ll notice and ask Ismelda why she’s acting strangely and if something is wrong. However, she’ll insist that she’s perfectly fine, even though her behavior continues to be odd.  There are three options to choose from. If you like Ismelda, it is recommended to pick the third option.

In any case, she will agree to tell you what’s wrong and suggest that if you help her, she’ll, in return, give you some salamander blood. To complete the next task, you need to earn five stars within eight hours. Three stars are required to pass. 

The bonus progress actions are tied to Ismelda. Prioritize these actions to save some energy. 

When you finish, you’ll discover that Ismelda is embarrassed because she can’t reach the Punguous Onion on the top shelf, and she can’t recall any spell that can help her retrieve them. This line will differ based on your previous choice.

You’ll suggest levitating Ben to reach and grab the Punguous Onion. These lines will differ based on the year you attend.

Trace the wand movement to cast Wingardium Leviosa.

Successfully, you’ll levitate Ben, and he’ll retrieve the Punguous Onion.

Afterward, you’ll give the Punguous Onion to Ismelda, and she’ll ask you not to tell anyone her secret; otherwise, she won’t give you a drop of salamander blood. This will slightly upset Ben.

You’ll attempt to calm Ben down and remind him that Gryffindors are brave, determined, and chivalrous. This line will differ based on which house you belong to.

In any case, you’ll agree not to tell anyone Ismelda’s secret, and she’ll, in return, give you the salamander blood. You’ll suggest to Ben to add a drop to the parchment to see if the next clue appears, and luckily, a new trail will emerge.

Curious about what the third clue says, you and Ben will read the new words that have appeared on the parchment.

After some thought, considering that you’re solving the Gryffindor puzzle and the clue suggests consulting with the head, you’ll suggest following the instructions and talking to Professor McGonagall, who is the head of Gryffindor’s house.

Go to the Transfiguration Classroom to meet with Professor McGonagall. When you arrive, you’ll seek Professor McGonagall’s assistance in solving Gryffindor’s puzzle.

You’ll explain to her that Ben and you have been working quite hard to solve a puzzle left by a group of former Gryffindors. You’ll add that you’ve successfully solved two riddles so far and have learned a lot about Gryffindor in the process.

You’ll mention that the latest clue is more complicated, and as the Head of Gryffindor’s house, you believe she might be able to help.

Then you’ll read the clue to her, and upon hearing it, Professor McGonagall will recall an incident involving a young Gryffindor. She’ll suggest telling you more about it so that you don’t make the same mistake. To complete the next task, you need to earn five stars within three hours. All five stars are required to pass. Since this task requires a lot of energy, it is recommended to start it with a full energy bar.

The bonus progress actions are tied to your character. Prioritize these actions to save some energy. 

After finishing, you’ll comment that each clue so far has had a story behind it, and this clue evoked the story of Professor McGonagall saving a young Gryffindor. You’ll learn that the Gryffindor in question was so eager to demonstrate his skill that he accidentally spilled a whole box of Wartcap powder on himself. Following that, Professor McGonagall will ask for your thoughts on the young Gryffindor.

There are three different options to choose from. These options will influence some dialogue that will follow, but they won’t impact the story.

She’ll add that, like so many young Gryffindors, his group of friends sought to prove themselves with bold feats. Professor McGonagall will say that she hopes you’ll remember that Gryffindor’s true strength comes from within. She’ll explain that it’s not about bold deeds but inner strength that sets the true Gryffindor apart.

She’ll add that, luckily, she was close to the young Gryffindor and able to reverse the effects of the Wartcap powder.

You’ll tell Professor McGonagall that you’ll do your best to ensure it doesn’t happen again, you’ll thank her, and assure her that you believe you’ve got the answer you were looking for.

You’ll be confident that the answer is Wartcap powder. This line will differ based on which house you belong to.

Professor McGonagall will then caution you not to let the puzzle goad you into doing anything dangerous. You’ll promise to heed her advice and then go find Ben to share what you’ve discovered.

Proceed to the Potions Classroom when you are ready. When you arrive, you’ll see Penny and Ben waiting, and you’ll inform them that you talked to Professor McGonagall and found the answer to your latest clue.

You’ll say that it’s most likely the next item you’re meant to look for and that you can use it to locate the final clue.

You’ll add that you’re still only part of the way to solving the puzzle because the next item alone won’t give the last clue. Ben will mention that he and Penny were working on it while you were talking to Professor McGonagall. They realized that, after getting salamander blood, these items might be ingredients for a potion. 

Penny will then say that after Ben told her about bursting mushrooms and salamander blood, and when you added the next ingredient, Wartcap powder, she was sure it was potion ingredients for a specific potion. She’ll then ask if you might know which potion these three ingredients will make. There are three different options to choose from. The correct answer is “Fire Protection Potion”.

In any case, she’ll say that these three ingredients are used in a Fire Protection Potion. You’ll suggest starting to brew that potion, to which she’ll agree and add that Professor Snape keeps Wartcap Powder in ready supply.

To brew Fire Protection Potion, you need to earn five stars within eight hours. All five stars are required to pass. Since this task requires a lot of energy, it is recommended to start it with a full energy bar.

Bonus progress actions are tied to the potion ingredients, Penny, and your character. Prioritize these actions to save some energy. Slide the screen left and right to check all available actions. 

After successfully brewing the Fire Protection Potion, you’ll immediately suggest that Ben add a drop to the parchment to see if anything appears.

Successfully, the last clue will appear.

You’ll tell Ben to read it.

Penny will be curious and start interpreting the clue, suggesting that it could mean a Chimaera’s fire, while Ben thinks it might relate to some kind of dragon. You’ll tell them that Professor McGonagall warned you not to do anything rushed or dangerous on account of that puzzle, and add that rushing off to confront a dangerous magical creature might be exactly what she was warning you against. Ben’s reaction will differ based on the year you attend.

Then you’ll suggest to Ben that the puzzle is all about Gryffindor’s house and that the answer might have a more direct tie to Gryffindor than a dragon, but you’re not sure what it is. You’ll propose that if the answer is Gryffindor-related, maybe the other Gryffindors could help you solve the riddle.

This line will differ based on which house you belong to.
