The Christmas Holidays Part 1

Introduction

Hello everyone, welcome to our Walkthrough for Part 1 of The Christmas Holidays adventure of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. Students of all years can participate in this one and once started, you have four days to complete it.

When you start the adventure, Penny will inform you that some of your friends have gathered in the Great Hall and are waiting for you. When you are ready, go there to meet them.

Disclaimer: This walkthrough will feature the gameplay from the perspective of a Year 7 student. Since the adventure is available for students of Year 1 and above, the star and attribute requirements for certain tasks might be different for you, depending on your current progress of the main story.

When you arrive, you’ll notice that most of your friends are cheerfully discussing some merry subjects. Before continuing, you’ll be able to interact with some of them by tapping on their speech bubbles.

You will also notice that one person is sitting on the opposite side of the hall, all alone, away from the rest of your friends.

Once you join them, Bill will ask if you are all right. You have three different response options. Keep in mind that this choice will influence some of the dialogue lines, but it won’t significantly impact the story, so you can feel free to pick the option you prefer.

Bill will say that he always misses his brothers and sister whenever Christmas is getting close. You will wonder why Bill and Charlie didn’t go home for the holidays. Bill will explain they couldn’t because his brothers Fred and George wrecked The Burrow, so it isn’t safe to go home.

He will then ask if there’s anything that can be done to cheer you up, but you won’t be in the mood to talk about it and ruin everyone else’s Christmas. Instead, you’ll suggest hearing your friends’ plans.

You’ll get the task to discuss everyone’s plan for Christmas. To complete it, you need to earn at least one out of five stars within an hour.

Since there is no waiting time before the next task, and you only need one star to pass, you might want to consider spending up to 15 energy and then let the timer expire. This way, you will have a full energy bar for the next task and it could save you some time.

However, if you are looking to earn some additional rewards and a chance to get Chocolate Frogs, it is recommended to fully complete this task. It is also worth noting there is an action with bonus progress tied to Tonks.

You’ll conclude that you and your friends are the only students who decided to stay at Hogwarts for the Christmas holidays. You will still be sad because you miss your family, but Tonks will have a plan to distract you. 

You will then get the task to meet your friends on the Training Grounds. Apparently, Tonks wants to teach you a new spell, so you should proceed there as soon as possible.

Upon arriving, you’ll notice the speech bubbles above some of your friends. Tap on those if you want to see what they have to say.

You’ll quickly find out why Tonks asked you to come outside. She wants to teach you how to bewitch snowballs.

To learn this spell, you need to earn five stars within three hours. For Year 1-2 students, one star is required to pass. For Year 3+ students, all five stars are required to pass.

There are bonus progress actions tied to Bill and Tonks. Prioritize those actions to save energy.

When you are done, you’ll be tasked with casting the spell. Trace the wand movement on the screen to do so.

What follows is a funny scene in which your character and Tonks participate in a snowball fight.

After hitting you with a few snowballs, she’ll ask if you’re giving up. If you do, you’ll head back inside the Castle. Otherwise, you’ll continue for a while longer.

Either way, when you are done, you’ll get the task to meet Penny in the Artefact Room.

When you arrive, she will tell you that she’s making egg-nog. It fits the Christmas spirit and it could help with cheering you up.

Tonks will be pretty happy about this idea.

Brewing egg-nog with Penny is a three-hour task with a passing requirement of one out of five stars.

There is a waiting period before the next task, so it is highly recommended to fully complete this task, regardless of the passing requirement. There are actions with bonus progress tied to Penny and the cauldron. Focus on those actions to save energy.

After you are done, you’ll be the first one to taste Penny’s egg-nog. She will then ask if you like it. You have three response options.

If you care about Penny, you should pick either the first or the third option. However, the second one will lead to a funny scene, so if you’re up for some laughs, you can go with that one.

There is an hour-long waiting time before the next task is available. Your energy bar will most likely be empty at this point, so you should simply wait it out.

Once the waiting period is over, proceed to your Common Room to meet Rowan.

Rowan will ask if there is anything that can be done to cheer you up, but in the end, you’ll decide to do some studying together to forget about the problems and worries.

Studying with Rowan is your next task. To complete it, you need to earn five stars within one hour. For Year 1-2 students, one star is required to pass. For Year 3+ students, all five stars are required to pass.

There are bonus progress actions linked to the notes and the books. Be sure to do them when they are available if you want to save some energy.

When you are done, you’ll stumble upon a piece of information stating that Yeti has been spotted wandering the castle grounds during winter.

Rowan will be curious about that and ask if you believe that information to be true. You have three options to respond with. The outcome will have some minor dialogue differences, so you can freely pick the option you prefer.

In the end, you’ll decide to do some investigation and see if the rumors are true.

Shortly after, Part 1 of The Christmas Holidays adventure will be completed. Hit the Collect button to claim your reward. You will receive 100 Coins.
