A Gathering of Old Friends Part 3
Introduction
Hello everyone, welcome to Part 3 of our Walkthrough for A Gathering of Old Friends Adventure of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. Last time, you met Professor Dumbledore in the courtyard and learned that he traced the werewolf in Godric’s Hollow to an attack near Wigtown. You also learned that Penny might know something about it, so you went to talk to her.
You found out that her friend Scarlett got attacked by a werewolf near Wigtown, and Penny was unable to do anything about it. Not willing to let anyone else suffer the same fate, she agreed to do everything in her power to help.
The two of you spent some time studying werewolves in the library after which you went to see the Headmaster. After Penny told him about what happened during the summer her friend was attacked, the Headmaster asked the two of you to go to Godric’s Hollow and meet with Mad-Eye Moody.
Once you start this part, you will be met with a waiting period of five hours. Since you will likely be low on energy at this point, it is recommended to wait and let your energy recharge in the meantime.

[Disclaimer: This walkthrough will feature the gameplay from the perspective of a Year 7 student. Since the adventure is available for students of Year 3 and above, the star and attribute requirements for certain tasks might be different for you, depending on your current progress of the main story.]
Head to Godric’s Hollow once the waiting time is over. When you arrive, you’ll find Mad-Eye there, waiting for you.
If this isn’t your first time meeting him, the two of you will greet each other. Otherwise, you’ll introduce yourself and learn that he already knows about you.

Penny will figure out that the werewolf must be quite dangerous if an Auror decided to handle it. Mad-Eye will admit that werewolves aren’t easy to deal with.
He’ll explain that he was already traveling to Godric’s Hollow when Dumbledore asked for his help. You’ll quickly put the dots together.

Mad-Eye will be surprised that the Headmaster told you about the gathering. He’ll tell you how important it is to keep Dumbledore’s plan a secret.
You will recall what the Headmaster told you in his office.

By the looks of it, you and Penny will be assisting Moody with capturing the werewolf and determining its intentions.
Apparently, Mad-Eye is planning to keep the werewolf captive until it changes back. That way, he’ll be able to question it.
Penny will say that it won’t be easy. Moody will tell her that capturing the werewolf won’t be too difficult. All that’s needed is a solid plan for how to do it. You’ll be surprised that he doesn’t have a plan. He’ll explain why that is the case.

You’ll find out that Professor Dumbledore told Moody some nice things about you. After thinking about it for a moment, you’ll suggest making a plan for capturing the werewolf.
To come up with a plan, you will need to earn five stars within three hours. Three stars are needed to pass.

There are bonus progress actions tied to Penny and your character. Focus on those if you are looking to save some energy.

You’ll figure out that Penny’s presence is probably going to lure the werewolf out of hiding. And once it gets close, you’ll be able to use Petrificus Totalus to bind it.
Mad-Eye will make it clear that he doesn’t want you or Penny anywhere near the werewolf. If everything goes according to plan, the three of you will take the creature to Moody’s friend’s house and keep it there until the morning.

Still, there is always a chance things might go south. Because of that, Moody will suggest reviewing the spell just in case something unexpected happens. Penny and you will agree with him.
Mad-Eye will tell you and Penny to meet him at Bathilda Bagshot’s home. That’s where you can practice the spell and prepare the room for when the werewolf is captured.
Go to Bathilda Bagshot’s house when you are ready to continue. Once you arrive, you’ll learn that Penny is quite the fan of Bathilda Bagshot.

You’ll ask Moody if you will get to see Madam Bagshot. If you completed Secrets of Godric’s Hollow adventure, you’ll get an additional line of dialogue.

As it seems, she allowed Mad-Eye to use her home on the condition that she doesn’t have to be there. According to Moody, she isn’t particularly fond of werewolves.
Shortly after, he’ll suggest getting to work. He will recall that you are already familiar with the Petrificus Totalus spell.
In other words, you will only need to review the spell. Moments later, Penny and you will start practicing. To complete this task, you will need to earn five stars within eight hours. All five stars are required to pass.

There are actions with bonus progress tied to your character and a pile of books. Prioritize those if you want to save energy.

Once you’re done practicing, Moody will praise both Penny and you. He’ll suggest doing a quick final test. But before that, he will say that he is impressed by the way you and Penny support each other.

You will notice that something is upsetting Mad-Eye, so you’ll ask if he is all right. He’ll tell you he is touched by everything Dumbledore has done to organize the gathering.
He will explain that their group worked together during the recent wizarding war. You’ll be curious to learn more about them.
Moody will tell you some interesting things about Dumbledore’s guests.

Unfortunately, most of them lost touch once the war was over. Mad-Eye will say that he hasn’t seen many of them in years.
You’ll recall Dumbledore mentioning that. According to Moody, there are many reasons why that happened. He will advise you to stay close to your friends. You’ll start to realize why the gathering is so important to Professor Dumbledore.

Both you and Penny will be determined to ensure everything goes according to plan. Your Hufflepuff friend will admit she is feeling a bit nervous.
She’ll say that she is afraid she might freeze again. There are two options to reply with. This is an IMPORTANT choice. If you pick the first option, you will be the one casting the spell. However, picking the second option will help Penny regain her confidence, which is why it is highly recommended to go with that one.

If you go with the first option, you will be tasked with casting Petrificus Totalus on Penny. Otherwise, she will be casting the spell on you.
Luckily, everything will go as planned, and Mad-Eye will be impressed.

He’ll then use Finite Incantatem to cancel the effects of the spell. After that, he will say it is time to capture the werewolf.
He will remind you and Penny that your job is to lure the creature out of hiding. You’ll tell him he can count on you. Shortly after, all three of you will leave Bathilda Bagshot’s house. Proceed to Godric’s Hollow graveyard when you are ready.
Upon arriving, you will notice the speech bubbles above some of the ghosts. Tap on those if you are curious to see what they have to say.
Penny will admit she is getting slightly nervous. The following lines will differ, depending on whether or not you completed Secrets of Godric’s Hollow adventure.

Mad-Eye will tell you to be quiet. Once again, he’ll remind you that you and Penny only need to lure the werewolf out of hiding. After that, he will be the one to confront the creature.
If everything goes according to plan, in the morning you will be able to question the human behind the wolf.
You’ll tell Moody there is nothing to worry about. You will then decide to search the graveyard and find a good hiding spot.
To search the graveyard, you will need to obtain five stars within three hours. All five stars are needed to pass.

There are actions with bonus progress tied to your character, Penny, and the crypt. Prioritize those actions to save some energy.

In the end, you will decide to hide behind the crypt. Moody will agree it is a good hiding spot. Before he leaves, he will advise you to be careful.
He’ll ask you to promise not to get involved. There are two options to respond with. This choice won’t significantly impact the story, so feel free to pick the option you prefer.

Shortly after, you’ll hear the sound of a werewolf howling. Moody will decide to look for the creature while you and Penny stay hidden.
Penny will say she is glad the two of you won’t have to face the werewolf. Suddenly, you will hear a strange sound. You’ll turn around and spot a werewolf angrily glaring at you.

The following part will play out differently, depending on the choice you made in Bathilda Bagshot’s house.
If you decided to be the one to cast the spell, the werewolf will knock Penny off her feet, and you will have to cast the spell to defend her. If you encouraged Penny to cast the spell, you will end up on the ground, and your friend will cast the spell to bind the creature.

Thankfully, the spell will work as intended, and the werewolf will fall to the ground, unable to move.

If Penny was the one to cast the spell, she will thank you for having faith in her.
Moments later, Mad-Eye will return. He won’t be particularly pleased that you and Penny fought the werewolf.
You’ll tell him that the creature surprised you, so you had to defend yourselves. Thankfully, neither you nor Penny got injured.

Mad-Eye will suggest taking the werewolf back to Bathilda Bagshot’s house. He’ll be the one to watch it overnight. In the morning, you and Penny will be able to return and discover the werewolf’s identity.
You will need to wait four hours before you can continue. Since you will probably be low on energy at this point, it is recommended to wait until this timer runs out. That way, your energy will recharge in the meantime.
Go to Bathilda Bagshot’s house once the waiting time is over. You will ask Penny if she is ready to find out the identity of the werewolf.

She’ll admit she is still shaken by what happened. Moody will tell you that the werewolf is soon to transform into a human.
He’ll advise you not to stand too close to it. You will notice Penny getting nervous, so you’ll ask her about it.

She will tell you she isn’t sure if she can do as Professor Dumbledore asked, especially if the werewolf is the one who attacked her friend Scarlett.
You’ll remind her that the Headmaster only asked her to keep an open mind. Still, she won’t be able to do that.
Suddenly, the werewolf will start to transform. To witness the transformation, you need to earn five stars within three hours. All five stars are needed to pass, which is why it is not recommended to start this task with an empty energy bar.

There are bonus progress actions linked to Penny and your character. Prioritize those if you want to save energy.

Once you complete the task, the werewolf will turn into a red-haired girl.

Penny will be shocked to see her. You will ask her to tell you what’s wrong. She will tell you that the person sitting on a chair is none other than her friend Scarlett.
Scarlett won’t seem to remember anything. Moody will be completely caught off guard by this turn of events.

He will cast Finite Incantatem to remove binds from the girl. She will be surprised to see Penny.

Your friend will be completely overwhelmed by emotions, and not knowing what to do, she will run away.

Moody will tell you to go after her. In the meantime, he will keep an eye on Scarlett. Moments later, you will leave the place.
This will mark the end of Part 3 of A Gathering of Old Friends adventure. Hit the Collect button to claim your rewards. You will receive 3 Gems.
Now that was certainly an unexpected turn of events. Will Penny get to reunite with Scarlett after she calms down? And what about the gathering? Will you learn more about Professor Dumbledore’s group of friends? Find out in the final part of this adventure!
