A Scandal in Hogsmeade Part 2

Introduction

Hello everyone, welcome to Part 2 of our Walkthrough for A Scandal in Hogsmeade Adventure of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. During the previous part, Andre informed you that his cousin, Jules, will be paying him a visit. You learned that she’s traveled all around the world, but she’s never been to Hogsmeade or Hogwarts before.

Andre asked you to help him take Jules on a tour. You happily agreed, and the two of you went to Hogsmeade Station to await Jules’ arrival. Shortly after she arrived, all of you went to the Three Broomsticks.

Given that Jules has never tasted Butterbeer before, she was very excited to try it. Unfortunately, Madam Rosmerta told you that someone stole all of her butterscotch, and without it, she’s unable to make any Butterbeer.

You quickly offered to help find the one responsible for the theft. Madam Rosmerta told you that Bilton Bilmes recently experienced a theft at Zonko’s, so there’s a chance that the same thief is behind both crimes.

Jules offered to help you solve the mystery, and you decided to talk to Bilton, to see if you can find any clues. Proceed to Zonko’s Joke Shop when you are ready.

Upon arriving, you will be able to interact with some of the characters and see what they have to say.

Jules will be excited about visiting Zonko’s.

She will find the shop absolutely fabulous.

She’ll ask you about your favorite prank item. There are three options to choose from. This choice won’t significantly impact the story, so feel free to select the option you prefer.

Andre will point out that Zonko definitely has the best pranks. Moments later, Bilton will approach, pleased to see young and enthusiastic pranksters in his shop.

The following line will differ, depending on your current progress of the main story.

If you’ve completed The Zonko’s Dungbomb Disaster side quest, you will receive an additional line of dialogue.

You will tell Bilton about the recent theft at the Three Broomsticks and ask if he also had a thief in his shop recently.

Jules will add that the three of you are working on catching the culprit. Bilton will be surprised to hear that Madam Rosmerta was burglarized, too.

You’ll be curious to know what the thief took from him. Apparently, the entire crate of pranks was stolen from Zonko’s.

a scandal in hogsmeade part 2 1050

You’ll wonder why someone would steal so many pranks. Bilton will have some assumptions, but unfortunately, he won’t be completely certain why the thief took an entire crate of pranks.

Andre will wonder what the bandit wants with butterscotch and a crate full of pranks. You’ll be curious about the thief’s motivation.

a scandal in hogsmeade part 2 1060

Jules will say that the bandit is definitely not trying to stop the three of you from having fun. In any case, finding the stolen items should be your top priority.

You’ll decide to go over the facts. If you’ve completed Chapter 2 of Year 7, you will get an additional line of dialogue.

You’ll then ask Bilton to tell you everything he knows about the theft.

Getting information from Bilton requires earning five stars within three hours. Since all five stars are needed to pass, it is not recommended to start this task if you are low on energy.

There are actions with bonus progress linked to Jules and some of the prank items. Focus on those if you are looking to save some energy.

As it seems, Bilton didn’t see anyone go in or out of the back room. He’ll say that the crate of pranks simply disappeared.

You will point out that was exactly what happened to Madam Rosmerta’s butterscotch.

Andre will say that someone could’ve apparated into the back room. Bilton will be quite sure that wasn’t the case since he didn’t hear any noise.

a scandal in hogsmeade part 2 1090

You will ask him about a Gryffindor boy who was in the store when the crate was stolen.

Bilton will try his best to describe him. This description will vary, depending on your current progress of the main story.

He’ll say that the student might’ve had something to do with the missing crate. You’ll immediately figure that Ben matches the description.

Jules will be surprised you have such a friend. This line will also vary, depending on your current progress of the main story.

You’ll tell her that Ben was one of your first friends at Hogwarts.

Jules will ask if you think your friend is the thief. There are two options to reply with. This choice will have effects on some of the dialogue lines later on. If you like Ben, it is highly recommended to pick the second option.

In any case, you will decide to go to Hogwarts and talk to Ben. You’ll ask Andre and Jules to stay in Hogsmeade and keep an eye out for the thief.

Jules will like the idea. As for Andre, he will regret not being dressed for the occasion.

a scandal in hogsmeade part 2 1130

You’ll tell them to find you at Hogwarts should they see anything.

You will need to wait three hours until Ben is ready to meet with you. Since you will likely be low on energy at this point, it is recommended to wait and let your energy recharge in the meantime. Head to the Potions classroom once the waiting time is over.

You will wonder what Ben is doing in the Potions classroom. As it seems, Snape gave him detention. The reason why he earned detention will be different, depending on your current progress of the main story.

a scandal in hogsmeade part 2 1140

Penny will point out that organizing the potion cabinet is definitely more fun than serving detention in the kitchens.

Ben will say that he’d prefer to be in the kitchens. You’ll say there’s something very important you want to talk to him about.

You will tell him about the thief. Ben and Penny will be shocked to hear that. You’ll inform them about the items that were stolen.

Ben’s response will vary, depending on your current progress of the main story.

a scandal in hogsmeade part 2 1150

You’ll say that you are working with Andre and his cousin, Jules, to catch the thief. You will also say that Ben was the only person in Zonko’s when the crate full of pranks was stolen.

Ben will be surprised to hear that. Your previous choice will take effect here.

a scandal in hogsmeade part 2 1160

You will ask Ben if he would be willing to answer some of your questions. Thankfully, he will agree to it.

Questioning Ben requires earning five stars within one hour. Three stars are needed to pass for students up to Year 6 Chapter 23. All five stars are required to pass for students past Year 6 Chapter 24.

a scandal in hogsmeade part 2 1170

There is a bonus progress action linked to Penny. Prioritize her actions if you want to save a bit of energy.

a scandal in hogsmeade part 2 1180

Ben will tell you that he went to Zonko’s to buy some Sugar Quills, but they were sold out.

Bilton told him about a new shipment he received, but Ben needed to get back to Hogwarts to serve his detention.

a scandal in hogsmeade part 2 1190

You’ll ask if he saw anyone else in the store besides Bilton. He’ll say that he didn’t.

You’ll also ask if he went to any other place in Hogsmeade. Ben will say that he came straight to the Potions classroom after Zonko’s.

Penny will confirm his alibi. Your previous choice will take effect here.

a scandal in hogsmeade part 2 1200

Ben will wonder why anyone would want to steal butterscotch and pranks.

He’ll ask if you see any connection between the two. There are three options to reply with. This choice won’t have any significant effect on the story, so feel free to pick the option you prefer.

Penny will say that she knows something that could help your case. You’ll ask her about it.

She’ll tell you to meet her in the Artefact Room. Proceed there when you are ready.

You’ll ask Penny to tell you about the clue. After all, time is of the essence, and there’s no telling who could be burglarized next.

a scandal in hogsmeade part 2 1220

Penny will tell you that someone recently went through her personal collection of potion ingredients.

Oddly enough, the only thing that was stolen was a vial of Mallowsweet. You will wonder if the thief already made its way to Hogwarts.

a scandal in hogsmeade part 2 1230

Penny will say there is a possibility that the thief is someone from Hogwarts. You will suggest searching the room for more clues.

Looking for clues requires earning five stars within three hours. Since all five stars are needed to pass, you shouldn’t start this task if your energy is low.

a scandal in hogsmeade part 2 1240

There are actions with bonus progress tied to your character and a skull. Focus on those if you want to save some energy.

a scandal in hogsmeade part 2 1250

Once you are done searching, you will stumble upon a strand of white hair.

Penny will ask if you have an idea who the thief is. There are three options to reply with. This choice won’t significantly impact the story, but since you need more information to figure out the culprit’s identity, it is recommended to pick the first option.

a scandal in hogsmeade part 2 1260

You will wonder what Mallowsweet, butterscotch, and pranks have in common. Penny will point out that both butterscotch and Mallowsweet are sweet.

You will recall Madam Rosmerta using Mallowsweet to make Extra-Sweet Butterbeer. The following line will differ, depending on the year you’re in.

a scandal in hogsmeade part 2 1270

Still, you won’t be able to figure out how the pranks are connected to other stolen items.

You’ll wonder if Andre and Jules managed to find any clues. Moments later, you will hear Andre calling for you. He’ll say that they managed to find Bilton’s missing crate of pranks.

a scandal in hogsmeade part 2 1280

You’ll suggest heading back to Hogsmeade to continue the investigation. Proceed to Zonko’s Joke Shop when you are ready.

Bilton will happily greet you once you arrive. He’ll even call you young detectives.

a scandal in hogsmeade part 2 1290

Both Jules and you will like the sound of that. If you’ve progressed past Chapter 2 of Year 7 of the main story, you will get an additional line of dialogue.

Unlike Jules and you, Andre won’t really like being called the detective. His cousin will point out that tracking down the Hogsmeade thief is very stylish and fun.

She’ll ask if you agree with her. If you like Jules, it is recommended to pick the first option. If you like Andre, you should probably select the third one.

a scandal in hogsmeade part 2 1300

You’ll then take a look at the crate of pranks that was stolen from Zonko’s. Bilton will say that Andre and Jules found it behind the shop.

Jules will ask if Ben was able to provide any useful information. You’ll tell her that Ben didn’t see anyone. The choice that you’ve made previously will take effect here.

a scandal in hogsmeade part 2 1310

You’ll also tell them that the thief stole a vial of Mallowsweet from Penny. Andre will be surprised to hear that.

Jules will say it is imperative to find the culprit as soon as possible. You’ll ask Bilton if he noticed anything missing from the crate.

He’ll say that he hasn’t looked at it yet. After all, he didn’t want to tamper with evidence. You’ll decide to investigate the stolen crate and see if you can find any clues.

Investigating the crate requires earning five stars within three hours (eight hours for Year 5+ students). All five stars are needed to pass.

a scandal in hogsmeade part 2 1320

There are bonus progress actions tied to Jules and Bilton. Prioritize those if you are looking to save as much energy as possible.

a scandal in hogsmeade part 2 1330

While searching through the crate, you will stumble upon another strand of white hair.

a scandal in hogsmeade part 2 1340

You’ll tell them about a strand of white hair Penny and you found in the Artefact Room. This will pretty much confirm that the culprit has white hair.

Jules will wonder why the thief took the crate full of pranks, especially since nothing is missing from it.

Bilton will point out that his supply of Sugar Quills is nowhere to be found.

a scandal in hogsmeade part 2 1350

You’ll immediately realize that the thief was looking for sweets. Everything will finally start to make sense.

You will think of a suitable name for the culprit. There are three options to choose from. This choice will be referenced later on, but it won’t change the outcome of the story, so feel free to pick the name you prefer.

a scandal in hogsmeade part 2 1360
