[Disclaimer: This walkthrough will feature the gameplay from the perspective of a Year 3 student. Since the adventure is available for students of Year 3 and above, the star and attribute requirements for certain tasks might be different for you, depending on your current progress of the main story.]

Upon arriving, you’ll be able to interact with some of your classmates by tapping on the speech bubbles above them.

After greeting her, Penny will tell you that she’s worried about Talbott since he’s behaving weirdly lately.

flying solo part 1 1050

The worst part about it is that she’s been unable to locate him and see why he’s behaving like that.

You’ll then get to ask around and see if any of your friends saw Talbott recently. To complete this task, you need to earn at least one out of five stars within three hours.

flying solo part 1 1070

In any case, start this task immediately, regardless of your energy. If you were out of energy when you started the adventure, it is recommended to begin the task, then wait for one hour, and after that earn one star and let the timer run out. That way, you can save some energy.

However, if your energy bar was full, then it is recommended to fully complete this task, especially if you want to earn some additional rewards.

There are bonus progress actions tied to Tulip and Merula, so focus on completing those actions whenever you can.

flying solo part 1 1080

When you are done, you’ll realize that none of your friends knows where Talbott is. Sadly, Penny will be too busy, and she won’t have time to look for him. You’ll tell her not to worry and offer to check in on Talbott for her.

She’ll be curious to know why you’re helping her. You have three options to respond with. If you like Penny, it is recommended to pick the first option. Otherwise, feel free to go with whichever option you prefer.

flying solo part 1 1100

Penny will thank you for helping her. You’ll decide to look for Talbott in the courtyard, so go there when you are ready to continue.

You will find Talbott standing near the fountain. Apparently, he already knows that Penny and you were looking for him.

Talbott will want to know why you are looking after him. You have three response options. If you like Talbott, it is recommended to pick the first option. If you like Penny, you should select the second one.

flying solo part 1 1140

After realizing that Talbott doesn’t want to open up, you’ll suggest settling the matter with a game of Gobstones. If you win, Talbott will hear you out. If he wins, you will tell Penny he is fine. He’ll agree to your terms.

The task window will display the recommended attribute levels and the cost.

flying solo part 1 1160

The attribute requirements are quite low, so you shouldn’t have much trouble with this one. Simply choose the options that Talbott might find suspicious and you’ll be done in a few turns. Below are some of the options you can encounter while playing this game of Gobstones.

  • I’ve been practising Gobstones. – I’ve been spying for the Ministry. (Courage)
  • Why’s Penny worried about me? – She fancies you. (Empathy)
  • I’d rather just keep to myself. – I’d rather report you to the Ministry. (Knowledge)
  • I should try distracting you… – Your eyes are distracting enough. (Courage)
  • I’m setting up my special move… – Is that a Ministry official I see? (Empathy)
  • Do you do this to all your friends? – Only the ones I secretly hate. (Knowledge)
  • What if I lose? – I’ll share all your secrets. (Courage)

When you win, Talbott will agree to hear you out. You’ll remind him that he can trust you. After all, he told you he’s an unregistered Animagus.

The choice you made near the end of Become an Animagus adventure will take effect here.

flying solo part 1 1220

Just as you say that, Talbott will notice that someone might be listening to your conversation. He’ll cast the Revelio Charm and unveil the person that was eavesdropping – Merula Snyde.

Of course, she’ll say that she didn’t hear anything.

flying solo part 1 1260

Talbott will have a hard time believing that. She’ll calmly say that she has better things to do than listen to gossip. Moments later, she will leave the courtyard.

Talbott will be quite sure she heard that he is an unregistered Animagus, and he’ll be worried about it. You will quickly decide to talk to Merula and convince her not to reveal Talbott’s secret.

flying solo part 1 1280

Head to the Potions Classroom to meet her. Once you arrive, you’ll find Merula brewing some potion. When you confront her, she’ll keep saying that she didn’t hear anything.

You’ll make it clear that you won’t be leaving until she agrees to talk to you. After considering it for a moment, she will say that she is going to talk to you if help her finish the potion she is brewing.

To complete this task, you need to earn five stars within one hour. All five stars are required to pass. Because of that, avoid starting it with an empty energy bar.

flying solo part 1 1310

Focus on completing bonus progress actions to save some energy. One of those is tied to the ingredients jars behind you, while the other one is tied to Merula’s book.

flying solo part 1 1320

After finishing the task, Merula will admit she was spying on you, but only because she thought you were talking about the Cursed Vault.

You have three options to respond to this. This choice won’t significantly change the story, so feel free to pick the option you find the most appropriate for the situation.

flying solo part 1 1340

You’ll then tell Merula you came to convince her not to tell anyone about Talbott’s secret.

She’ll be curious to know why she should keep quiet about it. Her line will be slightly different if you are also an unregistered Animagus. You can try to persuade her in three different ways. Sadly, each of those will end up the same, but if you like Merula, it is recommended to select the first option.

flying solo part 1 1360

Shortly after, she’ll leave and you’ll get the task to meet Talbott at The Three Broomsticks and tell him what happened.

Upon arriving, you will be able to interact with some of the characters and see what they have to say.

Talbott will say that he doesn’t blame you for what happened. After all, there’s no way you could’ve known Merula was eavesdropping on your conversation. However, he will want to deal with Merula on his own.

flying solo part 1 1390

You’ll have to convince him to listen to you over a butterbeer. The task window will display the recommended attribute levels and the cost.

flying solo part 1 1400

This behaves similarly to drinking butterbeer with a friend. Simply pick the most supportive options and you’ll be done quickly and easily.

The attribute requirements for this task are quite low, so you shouldn’t have much trouble with it. Below are some of the questions and answers to them.

  • Why are you so set on helping? – We’re in this mess together. (Courage)
  • I don’t work well with others. – Our Animagus Potion went well. (Knowledge)
  • I’m better off alone. – No one can be alone all the time. (Empathy)
  • Doesn’t Merula hate you? – We get along better than before. (Courage)
  • I don’t need help. – Everyone needs help sometimes. (Empathy)
  • What’s in this for you? – You might finally trust me. (Knowledge)
  • What if you betray me? – I have no reason to betray you. (Empathy)

When you are done, Talbott will gladly accept your help.

flying solo part 1 1460

After you tell him that Merula didn’t want to promise to be quiet about his secret, Talbott will suggest using Memory Charm to make her forget everything she heard.

You have two options to respond to this. This choice won’t have any effect on the story, so pick whichever option you prefer.

flying solo part 1 1470

Eventually, you’ll tell Talbott that it’s best to ask Professor Flitwick about the Memory Charm and see if he’ll be willing to teach you.

With that being said, Part 1 of Flying Solo Adventure will come to an end. Hit the Collect button to claim your reward. You will receive 350 Coins.

Will Professor Flitwick agree to teach you the Memory Charm? And what might happen if you use it on Merula? Find out in Part 2 of Flying Solo Adventure of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery!
