[Disclaimer: This walkthrough will feature the gameplay from the perspective of a Year 7 student. Since the adventure is available for students of Year 2 and above, the star and attribute requirements for certain tasks might be different for you, depending on your current progress of the main story.]
Upon arriving, you’ll notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you are curious to see what they have to say.
Penny will be glad that it snowed. She’ll say that it looks beautiful. As for Ben, he won’t seem to like the snow much.
You’ll tell them you are happy to get to see them before the holiday break. Penny will agree and say that the Christmas season is her favorite time of year. She’ll be curious to know what your favorite part of the Christmas season is.
There are three options to choose from. This choice will affect some of the dialogue lines, but it won’t significantly change the story, so feel free to pick the option you prefer.
If you completed the Christmas Holidays or the Gift of Gratitude adventures, you will get some additional lines of dialogue here.
You will then get to share holiday plans with your friends. To complete this task, you need to earn five stars within one hour. Three stars are required to pass.
There are bonus progress actions tied to Ben and Penny. Prioritizing those actions should save you a bit of energy.
You’ll learn that pretty much all of your friends are leaving Hogwarts for the Christmas break. Penny will be curious to know how you feel about spending Christmas at Hogwarts on your own.
There are three options to reply with. This choice will affect some of the dialogue lines later on, but it won’t significantly impact the story, so feel free to pick the option you prefer.
Ben will suggest you spend Christmas with the Weasleys. You’ll tell him that’s not an option since they will be spending Christmas at their Great-Great Aunt Muriel.
If you completed A Very Weasley Christmas adventure, you will get some additional dialogue lines here.
If you are a Year 6 or Year 7 student, you will get some extra dialogue lines here. These will differ, depending on your current progress of the main story. However, given that these contain some major spoilers, we will not be including any images of them in this Walkthrough.
In the end, you’ll realize you will be on your own for the holiday. Penny will tell you there is much to enjoy at Hogwarts during the Christmas break.
If you completed Holidays at Hogwarts adventure, you will get some additional lines of dialogue here.
Your friends will be fairly sure you won’t be the only one staying at Hogwarts for the holiday. Before leaving, you’ll wish each other Happy Christmas.
You’ll then recall they are serving hot cocoa in your house’s common room, so you’ll decide to go there.
The following section will differ, depending on the house you’re in. This Walkthrough will feature images where the protagonist is a Gryffindor.
When you arrive, your Head of House will offer you some hot cocoa. You’ll inform the Professor you’ll be staying at Hogwarts during the holiday break. You will learn that many people spend the holidays on their own.
Some parts of the following scene will be different for students that are past Year 6 Chapter 18. However, those parts contain major spoilers for the main story, so we will not include them in this Walkthrough.
Shortly after, you will notice that Rowan is still in the common room. You’ll take some hot cocoa and sit next to your friend. Rowan will feel sorry that you have to stay alone for Christmas. The choice that you made while talking to Penny and Ben in the courtyard will take effect here.
Still, Rowan will be confident that you’ll have a nice time during the holiday break. You will then get to talk about Christmas at Hogwarts.
To complete this task, you need to earn five stars within three hours. All five stars are required to pass.
There is an action with bonus progress tied to Rowan. Focus on that one if you want to save some energy.
You’ll realize that Hogwarts really is a special place to be for the holidays. However, you’ll admit that it won’t be the same without Rowan. Your friend will smile and say that the feeling is mutual.
You will be reminded that the professors and Hagrid will also spend their holiday break at Hogwarts. Rowan will be quite certain that Hagrid would appreciate it if you stopped by to visit.
You’ll decide to follow your friend’s advice and see what Hagrid is doing. Go to Care of Magical Creatures when you are ready to continue.
Hagrid will happily greet you once you arrive. If this is your first time visiting the Care of Magical Creatures, you’ll get some additional dialogue lines here.
You’ll tell Hagrid you wanted to visit him since he’s always doing so much to make Christmas at Hogwarts feel special. You will also tell him you’ll be staying for the holidays.
Hagrid will tell you he’s making sure the owls are all right. After all, delivering letters and packages during winter isn’t easy, which is why someone has to nurse them back to health.
You’ll immediately offer to help him. Caring for owls is your next task. You need to earn five stars within one hour to complete it. All five stars are required to pass.
This task is divided into two sections. The first section lasts until you fill up one-half of the entire star meter. During it, you will find an action with bonus progress linked to Hagrid.
During the second section, there is a bonus progress action tied to your character.
You’ll admit you had no idea that caring for owls involves doing so much work. However, Hagrid won’t mind working hard, as long as he can see the owls happy again.
You will recall him saying there are other chores he needs to finish. He’ll nod and say there is always a lot to do during the holiday season.
You’ll ask if there’s anything you can do to help. Hagrid will wonder why you are so eager to help him with his holiday chores. There are three options to reply with.
This choice won’t significantly change the story, so you can feel free to pick the option you prefer. However, if you like Hagrid, it is somewhat recommended to pick the second option.
Hagrid will smile and say that he’d be happy to have you as his holiday helper. He’ll say that he needs to prepare twelve Christmas trees for the Great Hall, and he will tell you to meet him at the training grounds.
When you arrive, you’ll notice several huge trees. Hagrid will tell you that he got them from the Forbidden Forest. He’ll say that the trees for the Great Hall need to be impressive.
You’ll realize how much work is needed to prepare those trees for the Great Hall. Hagrid will humbly say that it’s not too bad.
You will ask if there’s anything you can do to help. Hagrid will say that he could use your help trimming the high branches on some of the trees. He’ll give you the shears, and moments later, you will get on your broom and start working.
Trimming Christmas trees is your next task. You need to earn five stars within three hours to complete it. All five stars are required to pass.
Make sure to slide the screen left and right to see all the available actions. There are bonus progress actions tied to Hagrid and the ladder. Prioritize those actions to save energy.
Hagrid will praise you for doing good work. You will ask if he minds having to work while everyone else gets to enjoy their holiday.
Hagrid will smile and say that he doesn’t mind at all. Seeing the students’ faces light up when they see the trees fills his heart with joy.
You’ll notice that Hagrid is always giving, and never asking for anything in return. He will say he was taught that it’s better to give than receive. He’ll ask if you agree with him.
This choice will impact some of the dialogue later on, but it won’t significantly change the story, so feel free to pick the option you prefer.
You’ll ask Hagrid if there’s anyone he used to spend his holidays with. He will tell you that there was someone, but it was a very long time ago.
You will apologize and say that you didn’t mean to pry. Hagrid will smile and say there’s nothing to be sorry for.
He’ll then tell you that most of his usual holiday duties are already done. However, there is a special mission you could help him with.
You will ask him to tell you more about it. Hagrid will say that not everyone gets to have a Christmas like the one at Hogwarts.
Because of that, every year, Hagrid prepares some gifts and delivers them to those who don’t have anyone else. Some of those people are the children at St. Mungo’s.
Hagrid will tell you to meet him in the kitchens later if you still want to help. Shortly after, Part 1 of Hagrid’s Holiday adventure will come to an end. Hit the Collect button to claim your reward. You will receive 300 Coins.
It looks like you’ll be busy during the holidays. Will you and Hagrid manage to prepare all the gifts in time? Find out in the next part of this adventure.
