Holidays At Hogwarts Part 1

Introduction

Hello everyone, welcome to Part 1 of our Walkthrough for Holidays at Hogwarts Adventure of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. This adventure is available for students of Year 2 and above, and during it, you and your friends will get to throw a special party for your teachers.

Once you start the adventure, Hagrid will inform you that Professor Dumbledore is about to announce something, so proceed to the Great Hall when you are ready.

Since the adventure is available for students of Year 2 and above, the star and attribute requirements for certain tasks might be different for you, depending on your current progress of the main story.]

Upon arriving, you will notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you are curious to see what they have to say.

Professor Dumbledore will announce that the holiday break is soon to start. He will also say that some of the staff members will remain at Hogwarts during the break.

He’ll look forward to spending the holidays with everyone who chooses to stay at Hogwarts.

You will join Penny at the table. She’ll tell you how much she loves the holidays. You will learn that she is going to be spending the holidays at Hogwarts as well.

You’ll notice that she doesn’t look too excited about it. Penny will explain why she is not able to go home for the holidays.

She will also say that she is trying to find some exciting ways to spend time during the break.

She’ll be curious to know your favorite part of Christmas at Hogwarts. There are three options to choose from. This choice won’t significantly impact the story, so feel free to pick the option you prefer.

Penny will tell you she has an interesting idea to make the holidays more exciting. However, she will need your help.

You will then get to hear all about her idea. Talking to Penny requires earning five stars within one hour (three hours for Year 4+ students). One star is needed to pass.

Be sure to slide the screen left and right to see all the available actions. There is a bonus progress action tied to Penny. Prioritize it if you want to save a bit of energy.

You’ll learn that Penny wants to do something special for the teachers over the holiday. You will ask if she has anything specific in mind.

She’ll admit that she isn’t sure yet. However, with joint effort, you might be able to come up with the perfect plan.

Penny will also say that she wants to surprise the teachers. In other words, she’ll ask you to talk to her elsewhere. You’ll suggest going to the Artefact Room.

Penny will like your suggestion. She’ll decide to ask a few other friends for help. Proceed to the Artefact Room once you are ready.

When you arrive, you’ll notice that Merula and Ben are also there. Penny will thank everyone for agreeing to help.

Apparently, planning a truly special holiday for the teachers doesn’t really fit into Merula’s definition of fun. Penny will explain her reasoning.

As for Ben, he will look forward to doing something special for the teachers. He’ll ask Penny if she has planned anything specific.

She will say that she doesn’t have a solid plan yet. You’ll suggest brainstorming some ideas.

Coming up with a plan requires earning five stars within three hours. Three stars are needed to pass.

There is an action with bonus progress tied to Penny. Focus on her actions if you want to save a bit of energy.

In the end, you and your friends will sum up some of the best ideas. By the looks of it, you will be throwing a surprise party for the teachers.

You’ll also get presents for each of the teachers. And in the spirit of holidays, some decorations will definitely improve the party.

Ben will point out that preparing everything won’t be easy. Penny will suggest splitting up the tasks.

She’ll decide to get started on the decorations with Ben. At the same time, you and the Most Powerful Witch at Hogwarts will do some undercover work.

Both you and Merula will ask Penny to explain what she has in mind. Penny will ask you to volunteer to help the teachers with holiday tasks. That way, you might be able to learn more about them while working.

Merula won’t find it particularly exciting. Penny will convince her that she won’t really be doing chores. Instead, she will be undercover, gathering information. In the end, Merula will agree to do her part.

She’ll ask if you are ready to begin the undercover mission. There are two options to reply with. This choice won’t significantly affect the story, so feel free to pick whichever option you prefer. However, picking the second option will result in a rather funny scene, so you might want to check it out.

Penny will suggest you start with Professor Dumbledore. She’ll tell you that you can find the Headmaster in the Great Hall.

Moments later, you will leave the Artefact Room and start your undercover mission. Proceed to the Great Hall when you are ready to continue.

When you arrive, Merula will remind you that you are undercover. Professor Dumbledore will be surprised to see the two of you.

He’ll say that he is performing an important holiday task – hanging stockings for the students and teachers who will remain at Hogwarts during the break.

You will smile and say that you want to offer your help. Professor Dumbledore will be glad to hear that.

Merula will wonder why he doesn’t use magic to hang the stockings. The Headmaster will explain why that is the case.

You’ll ask if hanging stockings is his favorite part of the holiday season. Professor Dumbledore will find it hard to pick a favorite. You’ll suggest talking about it while working.

Hanging stockings requires earning five stars within three hours. Since all five stars are needed to pass, avoid starting this task if your energy bar is empty.

There are two bonus progress actions tied to the Headmaster, so focus on his actions if you want to save as much energy as possible.

You will learn that Professor Dumbledore enjoys many things about the holiday season. Still, ice and snow are some of his favorites.

Shortly after, the Headmaster will decide to leave the Great Hall. Before he does, you will ask if he’s hoping for any particular Christmas gift.

He’ll smile and say that the greater gift anyone can hope for is spending time with loved ones. Merula will say that a gift like that is hard to wrap up. You’ll be a bit more specific about your question.

After giving it some thought, Professor Dumbledore will say that he’s hoping for a nice pair of new socks. Moments later, he will leave the place.

Merula won’t look too satisfied with the way things played out. You’ll wonder why that’s the case, especially since you learned some important things.

She’ll ask if you really believe that the Headmaster wants a new pair of socks. There are two options to reply with. This choice will be referenced later on, but it won’t significantly change the story. In short, it is somewhat recommended to go with the first option.

Either way, Merula will say that the Headmaster should get something more exciting than socks. While that may be the case, at least you were able to learn his favorite part of the holiday season.

You’ll suggest making some nice ice sculptures for the party. As for Dumbledore’s gift, you can think about it while talking to the next teacher.

Merula will say that you can find Professor Flitwick in the Charms classroom. You’ll decide to go there next. Head to the Charms classroom when you are ready.

Merula will say a few words before you approach Flitwick.

The Professor will be happy to see you. You’ll tell him you talked about the Headmaster’s favorite parts of the holiday season while helping him hang stockings in the Great Hall.

You will then ask if there is anything you can do to help. Professor Flitwick will say that he needs to repair some of the Frog Choir outfits before the holiday concert.

If you completed Audition for the Frog Choir adventure, you will get an additional line of dialogue.

You’ll realize that the teachers don’t have an easy time during the holiday season. Professor Flitwick will smile and say that all of them are happy to see the results of their hard work.

You’ll offer to help repair the outfits and ask if he can tell you about his favorite parts of the holiday season while working. The Professor will be more than happy to tell you all about it.

Repairing the outfits requires earning five stars within three hours. All five stars are needed to pass, which is why it’s not recommended to start this task if your energy is low.

There are bonus progress actions tied to Professor Flitwick, your character, and the outfit you’re repairing. Focus on those if you want to save some energy.

You will learn that Professor Flitwick enjoys the food-related parts of the holiday season the most.

You’ll also recall him mentioning his love of Gillywater. Unfortunately, he will be too busy to get it from the Three Broomsticks.

Shortly after, he will decide to be on his way. Merula will quickly ask him about Dumbledore before he leaves.

Professor Flitwick will be puzzled by her question. You’ll explain what Merula meant when she asked that.

According to Flitwick, finding the perfect gift for Dumbledore is not an easy task. Moments later, Professor Flitwick will get back to his work.

Merula will be slightly frustrated with this turn of events. You will tell her that the two of you did manage to learn a few important things.

Merula will say that you don’t have time to travel all the way to the Three Broomsticks. Perhaps there is another way to get some Gillywater…

She’ll ask if you know how to make it. Sadly, you won’t know that, but luckily, Penny is quite skilled when it comes to potions.

Merula will decide to ask Penny to help you with the next teacher. In the meantime, she will watch over Ben while he is gathering the decorations for the party.

The only teacher left to talk to is Madam Hooch. Maybe she will be able to help you figure out the perfect gift for Professor Dumbledore…

You will need to wait three hours before you can continue. Since you will likely be low on energy at this point, it is recommended to wait and let your energy recharge in the meantime.

Proceed to the training grounds once the waiting time is over. When you arrive, you will find Penny standing next to a large Christmas tree.

She will say that Merula already filled her in on the recent events. All that’s left is to learn about Madam Hooch’s favorite part of the holiday season.

Penny will admit she is glad that she got to stay at Hogwarts for the holidays.

She’ll say that everything is going according to plan. She’ll ask if you agree with her. There are two options to reply with. This choice won’t significantly impact the story, so feel free to pick the option you prefer.

Penny will say that the most difficult task will be figuring out the perfect gift for Dumbledore. Hopefully, Madam Hooch might be able to help with that.

Moments later, she will arrive. She’ll ask if you’ve come to help her trim the tree. You’ll be curious to know how she figured it out.

Apparently, she talked to other teachers and found out that you are helping with the holiday tasks. She will admit that she could use some help.

Penny will smile and say that the two of you will be more than happy to help. If you’ve completed A Very Weasley Christmas adventure, you will get an additional line of dialogue.

Penny will ask Madam Hooch to answer a few questions in exchange for helping her. The Flying Instructor will gladly agree to that. Shortly after, all of you will get to work.

Trimming the tree requires earning five stars within eight hours. All five stars are needed to pass.

There are bonus progress actions tied to Madam Hooch, Penny, and your character.

You will learn some interesting things about Madam Hooch. She’ll say that she would like to learn about Leonard Jewkes, the wizard who designed the Silver Arrow broom.

You’ll then ask her about Dumbledore without going into details. Sadly, she will find it hard to answer your question. Penny will tell her why you cannot reveal any details.

Madam Hooch will say that she is sure of one thing – Professor Dumbledore is a man of his word.

She will thank you for helping her trim the tree, and shortly after, she will leave the training grounds. Now you have all the information you need to throw a perfect party.

Both you and Penny will get some interesting ideas.

Penny will suggest informing Ben and Merula so they can start gathering decorations. In the meantime, the two of you can focus on the gifts.

According to her, a suitable gift for Madam Hooch would be time in the library with a book on Silver Arrow brooms. You’ll suggest getting her a different gift.

Penny will like your idea. Still, you’ll need to figure out how to get that book. Penny will suggest searching the Artefact Room.

Before that, the two of you should take care of Professor Flitwick’s Gillywater. Penny will be quite confident she can brew it. However, she will need to get the key ingredient first.

You’ll ask if she knows where to find it. According to her, there should be some Gillyweed in the Potions classroom.

You’ll decide to head there next. However, you will need to be careful not to get caught by Filch. After all, the students aren’t really allowed to simply take potion ingredients without permission.
