Secrets of Godric’s Hollow Part 3

Introduction

Hello everyone, welcome to Part 3 of our Walkthrough for Secrets of Godric’s Hollow Adventure of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. Last time, you went to Godric’s Hollow with Ben to look for the Sword of Gryffindor. Upon arriving, you found that Merula and Ismelda also decided to visit the same place, so you figured out that you’re on the right track.

After looking around, you realized that a famous author Bathilda Bagshot is living in Godric’s Hollow, so Ben and you decided to visit her. After talking to her, you learned that Merula and Ismelda also visited her and they most likely went to Godric’s Hollow graveyard.

You went after them, but upon searching the graveyard, the only thing you could find was a strange crypt bearing the Gryffindor crest. Upon inspecting it, you found some scorch marks and realized that Merula probably tried opening it.

After giving it some thought, you decided to talk to the portrait of Godric Gryffindor and ask him if the sword is hidden inside the crypt. You went back to Hogwarts, and upon talking to Gryffindor, you learned that the sword is not in the crypt.

Also, he told you that the horrible fate awaits anyone who opens the crypt, so you decided to head back to the graveyard and stop Merula from opening it. Proceed to Godric’s Hollow Graveyard when you are ready.

Walkthrough

[Disclaimer: This walkthrough will feature the gameplay from the perspective of a Year 7 student. Since the adventure is available for students of Year 3 and above, the star and attribute requirements for certain tasks might be different for you, depending on your current progress of the main story.]

You’ll thank Ben for meeting you on such short notice. You will tell him about what you’ve learned recently. Ben will spot Merula and Ismelda approaching the crypt.

You’ll quickly rush towards them and warn them not to open the crypt. Merula won’t seem too happy to see you.

Once again, you will tell her not to open the crypt. Sadly, she won’t be willing to change her mind.

She’ll look forward to becoming the Most Powerful Snyde. You will tell her that the Sword of Gryffindor is not buried inside the crypt.

Unfortunately, she won’t believe you. You’ll decide to try and convince her you’re telling the truth.

Warning Merula requires earning five stars within three hours. All five stars are needed to pass, so avoid starting this task if you are low on energy.

The only action with bonus progress here is tied to your character, so focus on it if you want to save a bit of energy.

You will try your best to convince Merula that opening the crypt is a bad idea. Despite all of your warnings, she won’t be willing to listen to reason.

She will approach the crypt and speak the passphrase.

After waiting for a moment, nothing will happen. She’ll raise her hand and speak the words again. However, her words won’t seem to have any effect.

Suddenly, a ghost of a goblin will emerge from the crypt and ask Merula if she’s seeking the Sword of Gryffindor.

She’ll grin at the ghost and ask him to give her what she deserves.

The ghost will raise his hand and you’ll notice that he’s using some unfamiliar magic.

Suddenly, he’ll blast Merula with a spell, and the Most Powerful Witch at Hogwarts will end up losing her sight.

The ghost will say that he decided to make an example of her for seeking the Sword of Gryffindor.

He will introduce himself as Ragnuk. Ben’s response will differ, depending on your current progress of the main story.

After realizing what happened, Merula will start panicking. You’ll try to calm her down.

Ragnuk will ask if you’ve also come for the sword. There are two options to reply with. Other than some minor dialogue differences, this choice won’t significantly impact the story, so feel free to pick either option.

The ghost will tell you to leave the place, unless you want to end up like Merula. Ismelda will tell him to return her friend to normal.

Unfortunately, the ghost will simply ignore her and go back into the crypt. Merula will ask the three of you to tell her what’s going on.

Ismelda will figure out that her friend was struck by some kind of Obscuro charm. You’ll assume there’s a way to break the curse.

Ismelda will blame you for what happened to her friend. Ben will remind her that you warned them not to open the crypt. He’ll explain why you wanted to stop them from stealing the sword.

Needless to say, if Dumbledore learns about what happened, the Halloween feast will more than likely be canceled.

Merula will make it clear that she has a much bigger problem than worrying about the feast being canceled.

Ben will tell her that plenty of other students are looking forward to the Halloween feast. Ismelda will suggest finding someone who can help Merula.

You’ll quickly decide to take the Most Powerful Witch at Hogwarts to Bathilda Bagshot and see if there’s anything she can do to help. Proceed to Bathilda Bagshot’s house when you are ready to continue.

You’ll inform Madam Bagshot about the recent events and tell her that Merula needs her help.

Madam Bagshot will scold you for ignoring her warning. You can choose whether you want to blame Merula or take the blame. If you like Merula, it is recommended to pick the second option.

Madam Bagshot will ask you to tell her about the ghost you saw. You’ll say that his name was Ragnuk. Unfortunately, you won’t be sure about the curse he used on Merula.

Madam Bagshot will tell you that the ghost you encountered was Ragnuk, King of the Goblins.

According to her, goblins use their own special kind of wandless magic, which is why you couldn’t recognize the curse he used.

More importantly, the only one who can reverse the spell is Ragnuk. Merula won’t be too happy to hear that.

You’ll ask Madam Bagshot if there’s anything that can be done. She’ll decide to tell you what she knows about Ragnuk. Maybe that will help you come up with a plan to deal with the situation.

Learning about Ragnuk requires earning five stars within eight hours. All five stars are needed to pass.

There are bonus progress actions tied to Madam Bagshot and Merula. Prioritize their actions if you want to save as much energy as possible.

You’ll learn that Ragnuk was the one who forged the Sword of Gryffindor. As for the crypt, he uses it as a lure to curse anyone seeking the sword.

Merula will figure out she can duel Ragnuk and force him to lift the curse. Madam Bagshot will advise her against it.

She’ll say that the only way to lift the curse is to convince the ghost of Ragnuk to change his mind.

If you’ve dealt with ghosts before, you’ll get an additional line of dialogue.

Madam Bagshot will say that you need to understand Ragnuk before you can change his mind. You’ll figure out that a good start would be finding out why he’s obsessed with the sword.

Madam Bagshot will advise you to learn more about Ragnuk’s history. You’ll ask if she can tell you more about him.

Unfortunately, she won’t have her notes around, so she won’t be able to tell you much.

You’ll decide to head to the library and see if there’s anything you can find about Ragnuk and the sword there.

Merula will say that she wants to go with you. You’ll find it odd, especially since she cannot read in her current condition.

She’ll remind you that two heads are better than one, and despite not being able to read, she can still help you figure things out.

You can choose whether you want to tell her she is useful, or say that she is nothing but trouble. If you like Merula, it is highly recommended to pick the first option.

Shortly after, the two of you will leave Madam Bagshot’s house. Head to the library when you are ready to continue.

Upon arriving, you will notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you are curious to see what they have to say.

You’ll approach Madam Pince and say that you want to check out every book she has on Ragnuk, King of the Goblins.

She’ll find your request unreasonable, so she will only allow you to take one book at a time. You’ll try to explain that you’re in a rush.

Unfortunately, Madam Pince isn’t really a fan of Halloween. She’ll point at all of the books that need to be put away.

She will remember Merula leaving a large pile of books the last time she was in the library. You’ll offer to help her shelve those in exchange for letting you take the books on Ragnuk.

Madam Pince will consider your proposition for a moment. However, given that she has a lot of work, she’ll agree to it.

Helping Madam Pince requires earning five stars within one hour. Since all five stars are needed to pass, avoid starting this task if you are low on energy.

Be sure to slide the screen left and right to see all the available actions. There are bonus progress actions tied to Madam Pince and a nearby pile of books. Prioritize those if you want to save a bit of energy.

Madam Pince will be pleased with the work you’ve done. She’ll leave you to your books while she goes and double-checks the ones you’ve put away.

You’ll be ready to start reading the books and look for any information that could help you convince Ragnuk to lift the curse.

Before you start, Merula will say there is something she wants to ask you.

She’ll be curious to know why you’re trying so hard to help her. There are three options to reply with. If you like Merula, it is highly recommended to pick the first option.

Shortly after, you’ll start reading the books. Unfortunately, with so many of them, you won’t be sure where to start.

Merula will give you an important piece of information on Ragnuk.

You’ll wonder what caused Ragnuk to become so obsessed with revenge. Merula will figure out it has something to do with the sword.

You’ll realize that it had to be Godric Gryffindor. Shortly after, you’ll find some interesting information on goblin property.

After reading it, you will realize why Ragnuk is haunting the cemetery. Merula will figure out that the only way to break the curse would be to bring the sword back to Ragnuk. Unfortunately, there is no time to look for it.

You’ll say there is another way to solve the problem. If you could somehow convince Ragnuk to give up on the sword, he would most likely agree to lift the curse.

Moments later, Madam Pince will approach you and say that the Headmaster wants to see you in his office.

She’ll ask Merula to stay in the library and return all of the books back to their shelves. You will wonder if Dumbledore already knows about the curse.

Merula will advise you to stay calm and simply hear him out.

Proceed to the Headmaster’s office when you are ready to continue. Upon greeting you, Professor Dumbledore will say that he received troublesome news from Bathilda Bagshot.

Unfortunately, he will have to cancel the Halloween feast to deal with the situation. You’ll ask him to give you some time to convince Ragnuk to lift the curse. That way, he won’t need to cancel the feast.

Professor Dumbledore will wonder why he should allow you to deal with the matter. There are three options to reply with. If you like Merula, it is recommended to pick the second option.

The Headmaster will be convinced that you are up to the task. However, he will first want to hear your plan to deal with the situation.

Telling Dumbledore your plan requires earning five stars within three hours. All five stars are needed to pass, so it’s recommended not to start this task if your energy bar is empty.

There are bonus progress actions tied to your character and the Headmaster. That should make the task slightly easier to complete.

You’ll explain that you’re planning to convince Ragnuk to give up on the sword. That way, he will have no reason to seek revenge anymore.

Professor Dumbledore will like your plan. Still, he will warn you to be careful with your choice of words, since you will only get one chance to set things right.

You’ll ask Professor Dumbledore for advice. He will share some of his wisdom with you.

Shortly after, you will leave his office and head back to Godric’s Hollow.
