The Tale of Pumpkin Johnny Part 1
Hello everyone, welcome to Part 1 of our Walkthrough for The Tale of Pumpkin Johnny Adventure of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. During this adventure, you’ll get to help Hagrid prepare for the pumpkin-themed Halloween party. You’ll also hear a spooky story that might turn out to be true.
When you start the adventure, Ben will ask you to join him in the Great Hall, so go there when you are ready.

Once you arrive, you’ll notice the speech bubbles above some of your friends. Tap on those if you are curious to see what they have to say.
Tonks will seem quite excited about the upcoming holiday. Ben will also share his opinion on Halloween. It will differ, depending on your current progress of the main story.
Moments later, Professor Dumbledore will start his announcement. Some of the professors will seem very excited about Halloween.
By the looks of it, there will be many interesting events to look forward to. The Headmaster will thank Hagrid for providing pumpkins for the decorations.
Many people will loudly cheer after hearing that.
Professor Dumbledore will then share some information about the upcoming events.
Tonks will wonder what your favorite pumpkin pastime is. There are three options to choose from. This choice won’t significantly impact the story, so feel free to go with the option you prefer.
Moments later, you’ll hear the Headmaster saying there will be a pumpkin-themed party. He’ll decide to share more details about it.
Learning about the party is your next task. You need to earn five stars within three hours to complete it. All five stars are required to pass.
Make sure to slide the screen left and right to see all the available actions. There are bonus progress actions tied to Professor Dumbledore, Penny, Ben, and your character. Focus on those actions to save energy.
You’ll learn that Hagrid is preparing a special crop of pumpkins for the party. And anyone who helps him will receive ten house points as a reward.
Professor Dumbledore will end his announcement by wishing everyone a happy Halloween.
You’ll look forward to the party. Ben will also say a few words about it. His lines will differ, depending on your current progress of the main story.
Moments later, Merula and Ismelda will approach you. Apparently, they aren’t too excited about the upcoming party.
If you completed Secrets of Godric’s Hollow adventure, you’ll get some additional lines of dialogue.
You’ll try your best to calm Merula and Ben down. Merula will say there are many exciting things that can happen on Halloween.
If you completed the Halloween Feast or Duelling Deathday Parties adventures, you’ll get some extra lines of dialogue.
Merula will say there is nothing scary about pumpkins. Ben won’t agree with her.
Merula will want to hear your opinion. If you like Ben, it is recommended to side with him. If you like Merula, you should side with her.
Moments later, Merula and Ismelda will leave. Ben will wonder why Merula likes to be so cruel.
You’ll advise him to simply ignore her. You’ll then decide to visit Hagrid and help him with his pumpkins.
Go to Hagrid’s garden when you are ready to continue. Hagrid will thank you and your friends for coming.
Shortly after, Merula and Ismelda will show up. Apparently, Professor Snape offered them some extra house points if they help Hagrid.
Merula will use the opportunity to taunt Ben. His response will differ, depending on your current progress of the main story. Your previous choice will take effect here.
According to Hagrid, pumpkins can be quite scary. He’ll ask if you’ve heard of the Tale of Pumpkin Johnny.
You will tell him you never heard that name before. He’ll gather everyone and start telling the tale.
Hearing Hagrid’s spooky story is your next task. You need to earn five stars within three hours to complete it. Three stars are required to pass.

You’ll learn that Johnny was a student at Hogwarts who loved pumpkins. Unfortunately, the other students were often bullying him.
One day, on Halloween, one of the students used the Melofors Jinx to trap Johnny’s head in a pumpkin.
Merula will laugh after hearing that. Hagrid will continue and say that the other students started to mock poor Johnny.
He was so upset, he ran into the Forbidden Forest and nobody has seen him since then.
Merula won’t find the story particularly scary. Apparently, there’s more to it. The next day, all the pumpkins in the castle were smashed.
All of the students who laughed at Johnny started having horrible nightmares.
Hagrid will go on and say that Pumpkin Johnny never really went away. He’ll say that if anyone was to knock on a pumpkin and say his name three times, Pumpkin Johnny would return.
Merula will be eager to test that. You can choose to dare her or warn her. This choice will be referenced later on, but it won’t significantly change the story, so feel free to pick the option you prefer.
Moments later, Merula will knock on a pumpkin three times and say the name, Pumpkin Johnny.
Everyone will gaze at Merula for a while, but nothing will happen. Hagrid will remind everyone there’s still a lot of work to be done.
He’ll ask everyone to come to the courtyard the next morning to receive their house points. Go to the courtyard when you are ready to continue.
Upon arriving, you’ll be able to interact with some of the characters and see what they have to say.
You’ll join Penny at the fountain. You will immediately notice something’s troubling her.
Apparently, she had a terrible nightmare about Pumpkin Johnny. You’ll ask her to tell you what happened.
Listening to Penny required earning five stars within three hours. Three stars are needed to pass.
There is a bonus progress action linked to Penny. Prioritizing it should save you a bit of energy.
In her nightmare, Penny was wandering the endless corridors. She constantly had the feeling someone was behind her.
At one point, she heard breathing. She turned around and saw Pumpkin Johnny. He pointed his wand at Penny and hit her with the Pumpkin-Head Jinx. That’s when she woke up.
Penny will wonder if Pumpkin Johnny is real. There are two options to reply with. This choice won’t significantly impact the story, so feel free to pick the option you prefer.
Moments later, Merula will arrive. Apparently, she overheard parts of your conversation.
She’ll mock Penny for being spooked by Hagrid’s story. Your Hufflepuff friend will warn her that Pumpkin Johnny could be real. Merula will simply laugh it off.
Shortly after, you’ll remember you promised Tonks you’d help her with Herbology. Head to the library when you are ready to continue. Once you arrive, you’ll be able to interact with some of the students.
Tonks will thank you for joining her. By the looks of it, she has a lot of studying to do.
You’ll tell her Penny had a nightmare about Pumpkin Johnny. She will be surprised to hear that. The choice you made in Hagrid’s garden will take effect here.
Moments later, Tonks and you will start studying. After going through dozens of books, the two of you will fall asleep.
You need to earn five stars within eight hours to wake up. All five stars are required to pass.
In your dream, you’ll find yourself in the Forbidden Forest. There are bonus progress actions tied to your character. Prioritize them to save energy.
When you are done, you’ll feel that someone’s behind you. You will turn around and spot Pumpkin Johnny.
He’ll point his wand at you and start casting the spell. Suddenly, you’ll wake up and loudly yell Pumpkin Johnny’s name.
This will draw the attention of everyone in the library, including Madam Pince. She’ll scold you for disturbing other students.
She will ask if there’s anything you have to say for yourself. There are three options to choose from. While this choice won’t significantly impact the story, it is recommended to avoid picking the second option. If you go with that one, Madam Pince will realize you are lying, and she won’t be happy about it.
Before going back to her work, Madam Pince will ask you to respect the peace of the library.
Tonks will ask if you are all right. You will say that you need to check on your friends. Tonks will say that you should be able to find them in Hagrid’s garden.
You’ll decide to go there immediately.
