Welcome to the Sphinx Club Part 4
Hello everyone, welcome to Part 4 of our Walkthrough for Welcome to the Sphinx Club Adventure of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. Previously, you helped Tonks retrieve her Fanged Frisbee from the Headmaster’s office in exchange for her help with returning Merula to normal.
Thankfully, you managed to stall Professor Dumbledore long enough for the Most Powerful Puffskein at Hogwarts to sneak into his office and retrieve the Fanged Frisbee. Unfortunately, it vanished shortly after she returned. Tonks realized it was enchanted to return to the Headmaster’s office in case someone attempts to steal it.
Later on, she advised you to ask Hagrid for help. Upon visiting him he told you about some Transfiguration books that could prove helpful. You went to the Library where you researched Transfiguration and found out that Merula got turned into a Puffskein because of the difference between your wands.
Later on, she ran off from the Library, and now it is up to you to find her. Once you start this part, Ben will inform you that he saw Merula around the Artefact Room, so proceed there when you are ready.

[Disclaimer: This walkthrough will feature the gameplay from the perspective of a Year 4 student. Since the adventure is available for students of Year 3 and above, the star and attribute requirements for certain tasks might be different for you, depending on your current progress of the main story.]
Thankfully, you will manage to find Merula in the Artefact Room. She will chirp at you with an angry look.
You’ll tell her you were worried about her running off. She’ll give you a questioning look.
You will say that you are trying your best to change her back. However, it’s not easy to recalculate the Self-Transfiguration formula.
Once again, she will angrily glare at you. You’ll tell her that you won’t give up easily. She will chirp at you again, and you’ll realize that she’s worried about staying a Puffskein forever. You’ll decide to cheer her up and reassure her that everything will be all right.
Consoling Merula requires earning five stars within three hours. All five stars are needed to pass, which is why you shouldn’t start this task if you are low on energy.
There are bonus progress actions linked to your character and the Most Adorable Puffskein at Hogwarts. This will make it slightly easier to complete the task.
You will ask Merula if she is feeling any better after listening to you. She will happily chirp at you.
You’ll reassure her everything will be all right and in no time, she will be back to normal. Merula will look incredibly sweet while happily chirping at you.
Unfortunately, you’ll admit that you don’t know how to undo her spell. If only you could be as skilled as Professor McGonagall when it comes to Transfiguration. That would solve all of the problems.
Merula will suggest asking McGonagall for help. You will be unsure if that’s the best course of action since she might disband the Sphinx Club.
The Most Powerful Puffskein at Hogwarts will chirp at you once again.
You will think for a while before making a decision. There are two options to choose from. Keep in mind that this choice will influence some dialogue later on. If you like Merula, it is recommended to pick the first option. Otherwise, feel free to go with either one.
In the end, you will decide to visit Professor McGonagall and have a word with her. Proceed to the Great Hall when you are ready.
Upon arriving, you will be able to interact with some of the characters and see what they have to say.
You will approach the Professor and ask if you could have a moment of her time to talk about Transfiguration.
Thankfully, she’ll be willing to hear you out. You will ask her a question about Self-Transfiguration.
According to her, the person in question would have to use wandless magic to reverse the effects of their Transfiguration. Needless to say, this is incredibly difficult to do.
The other option would be to seek a skilled witch or wizard who could Untransfigure the person. Trying not to reveal anything, you will ask her another question.
Professor McGonagall will say that only a master of Transfiguration would be able to reverse the effects of the spell in that case.
She will ask if there’s something you’re hiding from her. You will be hesitant to answer her question.
She will assume that one of your classmates attempted full Self-Transfiguration and is unable to change back. You will admit that she is correct in her assumption. Your previous choice will take effect here.
She will ask if you understand the severity of the situation. You will nod and say that you were afraid she would disband the Sphinx Club.
She will say that the fate of the Sphinx Club should be the least of your concerns, especially since there are all kinds of things that can go wrong with improperly cast Transfiguration spells.
You’ll ask if there’s anything she can do to help. The Professor will ask you to tell her exactly what happened.
Talking to Professor McGonagall requires earning five stars within eight hours. All five stars are needed to pass.
The only action with bonus progress here is tied to your character. Focus on it if you want to save a bit of energy.
Professor McGonagall will ask if Merula Transfigured herself into a Flobberworm. You will nod and add that her intent was to turn into a Thunderbird.
According to the Professor, it is a good thing she didn’t succeed since Thunderbirds are extremely dangerous creatures.
You will also inform her about your attempt to reverse the spell. Professor McGonagall will want to know why you didn’t seek her help immediately.
You will admit you were afraid she would disband the Sphinx Club, which is why you wanted to find another way to help Merula.
The Professor will look at you and ask if you believe that the club is more important than Merula’s wellbeing. There are two options to choose from. If you care about Merula, it is highly recommended to pick the second option.
Thankfully, Professor McGonagall will agree to undo the effects of Merula’s spell. As for the fate of the Sphinx Club, she will decide it after returning your classmate back to normal.
She’ll ask you to bring Merula to the Transfiguration classroom as soon as possible, so proceed there when you are ready.
When you arrive, Professor McGonagall will ask if you have brought Merula. You will introduce the Most Powerful Puffskein at Hogwarts to her.
The Professor will take a good look at her. You will ask if it’s too late to help your classmate.
Thankfully, that is not the case. Apparently, Professor McGonagall found Merula remarkably cute.
Needless to say, the Most Adorable Puffskein at Hogwarts won’t feel very comfortable hearing those words.
Moments later, Professor McGonagall will decide to undo the effects of Merula’s spell. She will ready her wand, and before long, your classmate will be back to normal.
She will be happy that the Professor managed to undo her spell. Professor McGonagall will remind her that she completely ignored her instructions.
You will ask if she will disband the Sphinx Club. The Professor will calmly say that Merula needs to face the consequences of her actions.
Your classmate will ask for a chance to explain herself. Thankfully, Professor McGonagall will be reasonable enough to hear her out.
In order to persuade the Professor not to disband the Sphinx Club, you’ll need to acquire five stars within three hours. All five stars are needed to pass, which is why it’s not recommended to start this task if your energy is low.
The only bonus progress action here is linked to your character. Focus on it if you want to save some energy.
You will beg Professor McGonagall not to disband the Sphinx Club. After considering things for a while, she will decide to go with a softer punishment.
She will wonder about the punishment that would be appropriate. There are three options to reply with. This choice will be referenced later on. If you like Merula, it is highly recommended to choose the first option.
If you select the first option, Merula will be left off the hook, and she won’t suffer any further punishment. She will even be thankful for that. Picking any of the other two options will result in Merula getting detention.
Professor McGonagall will warn both of you not to attempt any full Self-Transfiguration again. Luckily, neither you nor Merula will be willing to attempt any such spell ever again.
The Professor will advise you to return to the Sphinx Club room. You’ll be eager to go there. Merula will tell you there’s something she has to finish before heading to the club room.
Head to the Sphinx Club room when you are ready to continue. When you arrive, you will notice the speech bubbles above some of your classmates. Tap on those if you are curious to see what they have to say.
You will be surprised to see all kinds of treats on the tables. Ismelda will inform you that they wanted to thank you for helping Merula and saving the Sphinx Club.
The Most Powerful Witch at Hogwarts will admit it was her idea. The choice you made during part one of the adventure will take effect here.
Still, you will say that you had to ask Professor McGonagall for help. Ismelda will point out that you managed to convince her not to disband the Sphinx Club, so everything turned out all right in the end.
You’ll then get to celebrate with your classmates. This requires earning five stars within three hours. All five stars are needed to pass. Because of that, it is not recommended to start this task if you are out of energy.
There is an action with bonus progress linked to Ismelda. Prioritizing her actions should save you a bit of energy.
Merula will say she wants to thank you. Your previous choice will take effect here.
She will say she’s glad that Professor McGonagall managed to return her to normal. You will chuckle and say that she was a fine Puffskein.
Merula will threaten to turn you into a Puffskein, so you could see what it’s like being one. You’ll smile cheekily and remind her of Professor McGonagall’s words.
In the end, Merula will admit that you were the one who managed to impress members of the Sphinx Club the most.
You will be modest about it and say that you’re glad everyone supported you.
This will conclude Part 4 of Welcome to the Sphinx Club adventure. Hit the Collect button to claim your rewards. You will receive 500 Sphinx Club experience, 3 Chocolate Frogs, and a special portrait for the Sphinx Clubhouse.
The painting of the Most Adorable Puffskein at Hogwarts will be placed inside the Sphinx Clubhouse. You will be able to tap on it every once in a while to receive various rewards.
You will also earn the achievement for completing the adventure.
Thankfully, everything turned out fine for both Merula and the Sphinx Club. You managed to help your classmate and convinced Professor McGonagall not to disband the Sphinx Club. And most importantly, you got to spend some time with the Most Adorable Puffskein at Hogwarts.
Thank you for reading and see you soon with more amazing adventures.
