Chapter 7 – Class matters

Introduction

Hello everyone, welcome to our Walkthrough for Chapter Seven of Year One of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. During the previous chapter, you learned that there is a Mysterious Room in the Forbidden Upstairs Corridor. You got to explore the corridor with Rowan, but you found that the door is sealed with an impenetrable lock. There must be some way to open it, and it’s up to you to find out how.

As usual, you can start the chapter by completing the lessons. Proceed to the Charms classroom when you are ready to attend the first lesson of the chapter.

Upon entering the classroom, you’ll notice the speech bubbles above some of the students, so be sure to check them out.

Tap on the exclamation mark to start the conversation with Professor Flitwick. He’ll say that you’re excluded from the lesson because he’ll be teaching Flipendo, and given your history in dueling, it’s not something he finds wise to teach you.

You can respond to this in three different ways. The second response requires level three Knowledge and for the third one, you need level four in Empathy attribute. Either of those two answers is recommended, since those will award ten attribute points, compared to the first answer which only rewards five.

In any case, he’ll let you attend the lesson after a short talk. To learn Flipendo, you need to earn five stars within three hours. It is recommended to start with full energy in order to complete it without a problem.

Keep an eye on two things. First, prioritize actions that cost 5 energy, since those will fill the progress bar as if you’ve spent 6 energy (any excess energy that you spend before earning a star will be refunded to you, so don’t worry about overcapping the progress bar).

As for the second thing, try to complete all of the mini-tasks since those will award ten Empathy points each.

After you earn the fifth star, trace the wand movement on the screen to successfully cast Flipendo.

Congratulations! You just got one of the most useful spells you can obtain in the first year of your studies. It is also great for dueling. 

Your second lesson for this Chapter is Herbicide potion. Tap on the GO button and proceed to the Potions classroom.

When you arrive, you’ll notice that several of the students in the potions classroom have something to tell you, so if you want to see what they have to say, tap on their speech bubbles.

Before the lesson starts, Merula will ask if you’ve told anyone about the conversation between Snape and Filch in the corridor. You can be honest and say that Rowan knows about it, or you can deceive her. Either way, you will gain five attribute points.

You’ll realize that she is obsessed with finding the Vaults, but for now, she doesn’t want to share her reasons for wanting to find them.

In any case, it’s time for the Herbicide potion lesson. For this one, you need to earn five stars within three hours.

Focus on 5-cost actions whenever they are available, and in most cases prioritize the attribute rewards unless you get very lucky and get one thousand coins or some gems as one of the rewards. It goes without saying to do the mini-tasks in order to gain additional Knowledge points.

When you get all five stars, you will need to wave your wand over the cauldron to finalize the potion. Trace the path on the screen to do so.

After completing your potion, you’ll notice that Merula made a mistake with hers. You can choose whether you want to help her with it or not.

Helping her requires level five Empathy. It will award you with ten attribute points and an additional reward.

If you decide to help her, your character will point out the mistake she made while brewing her potion. Snape will notice this and, much to your disbelief will reward you with ten House points.

Don’t forget to claim your reward for completing the lesson. You can collect 5 Gems in the Potions section of your Hogwarts Record.

Now that the lessons are out of the way, you can continue the story. Hit the GO button and proceed to your Common Room. Once you’re there, you’ll notice that several students have something to tell you. Tapping on their speech bubbles will reveal what they have to say.

When you’re ready, tap on the exclamation mark to start the conversation with your Prefect. Your Prefect will ask if you managed to lose another twenty House Points. You have three options to respond with.

Each of those options will earn you five points in a different attribute, but the outcome is the same, regardless of what you choose, so pick the answer to your liking. After a bit of talking, your Prefect will ask you to attend classes and try your best to earn some House Points.

With this, Chapter 7 of Year 1 will be complete. Hit the Collect button to claim your rewards. You will receive 125 Coins and 250 Experience points. This will also add Penny to your list of friends.
