Chapter 1 – Year three begins

Introduction

Hello everyone, welcome to our Walkthrough for Chapter One of Year Three of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. In the past year, you learned a great many useful spells, you managed to find out some important things about your brother and most importantly, you broke the cursed vault and saved all of Hogwarts!

You also formed some new friendships, and thanks to your dedication, bravery, and persistence, Hogwarts is once again safe from the threat of the cursed vaults.

Now is the time to start another year of your adventures! The first task of this chapter is attending the welcoming ceremony. You will find yourself in the Great Hall, and as you may notice, some of the characters have speech bubbles above them. Tap on those if you are interested to see what they have to say.

After that, you can join your friends’ conversation by tapping on the exclamation mark. You will meet Rowan Khanna and Penny Haywood. When asked about how you spent your summer holidays, you’ll mention that it was difficult for you. The events around the Cursed Vault have been published in the Daily Prophet, and your mom found out everything and is worried about you ending up like your brother.

Unfortunately, you couldn’t get more information from a broken wand and a book you found in a vault. Rowan has some theories after a lot of research, but you’ll have to wait to hear them because Dumbledore is about to give his welcoming speech.

After exchanging summer holidays experiences, you and your friends will take your seats as the Headmaster starts his traditional welcoming speech. During his speech, he will discourage students from investigating the cursed vaults.

Rowan will ask what you are planning to do about it. You have two options to choose from.

There is not much of a difference between those choices since either way you won’t give up the search for Jacob and the vaults. The only difference is the attribute you will gain points in.

Now that the welcoming ceremony is over, it is time to attend the first lesson of this year. Hit the GO button and proceed to the Training Grounds.

Unlocking the Rolling lesson requires you to earn a total of nine stars from the flying classes. One way to do this is by completing three three-hour classes. The other way involves doing two of the eight-hour classes and will yield better rewards, but is more time-consuming. When you decide which class to take, hit the Start button to begin.

During these classes, focus on completing bonus progress actions to optimize energy usage.

And pay attention to the mini-tasks since successful completion of each of those will net you ten Courage points.

Once you obtain all nine stars, the Rolling lesson should be unlocked. Head back to the Training Grounds to attend it.

Once you arrive, you will notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you are curious to see what they have to say.

Tonks will look forward to finally getting the chance to visit Hogsmeade. She will be excited to visit Zonko’s Joke Shop, buy sweets from Honeydukes, and drink Butterbeer at the Three Broomsticks.

Rowan will be excited about the potential historical research of the Three Broomsticks. There are two options to reply with. If you like Rowan, it is highly recommended to pick the first option. 

Shortly after, the lesson will start. In order to complete it, you will need to earn five stars within three hours. Since all of the stars are required to pass, you might want to have full energy before starting the lesson.

Repeat the same steps you did in the abovementioned classes and you should be done with this lesson quickly and easily.

When you earn the fifth star, Merula will challenge you to perform a barrel roll. Trace the path on the screen in order to successfully execute this maneuver.

Congratulations! Tap on the Collect button to claim your rewards. This will increase your maximum energy by one.

After the lesson, you’ll ask Tonks if is she all right. She will mention that she crashed her broom into the Owlery, the Astronomy Tower, the Whomping Willow, and Hagrid’s vegetable patch, which is fewer crushes than her average per lesson.

Although she should go to the Hospital Wing, she won’t care about it because she will be very excited about finally going to Hogsmeade.

Your next task is to attend your first Herbology class this year. Proceed to the Herbology classroom when you are ready.

The first lesson you’ll have is Valerian Sprigs, and it doesn’t require unlocking. When you get to the classroom, you will notice that some of the students have speech bubbles above them. Tap on those if you want to see what they have to say.

After that, tap on the exclamation mark to initiate the conversation with Professor Sprout. After talking for a bit, she will tell you about one of the experiments she conducted during the summer. You can react to this in two different ways.

Keep in mind that selecting the first option is highly preferable. There are two reasons for this – the first one is that it rewards ten Knowledge points and the second one is that it will also net you ten House Points. So if you meet the attribute requirement, you should definitely pick this option.

Shortly after this, the class will start. To complete this lesson, you need to earn five stars within three hours. Since all of those stars are required to pass, having full energy is highly recommended.

While Herbology classes are something new, exciting, and refreshing, you can complete them in a similar way as any other classes you had so far. Simply complete various actions by tapping on the glowing objects. This will fill up the star meter and eventually earn you stars.

After you earn each of the stars, you will get to choose one out of three rewards and you will also get a mini-task. If you complete it successfully, you will get ten Empathy points as a bonus reward.

When you get all five stars, you will be tasked with fertilizing your Valerian. Trace the path on the screen to successfully perform this task.

With this, the lesson will be complete. Hit the Collect button to claim your rewards and continue.

After that, you’ll see Penny being attacked by a werewolf.

Thanks to Professor Sprout’s quick intervention, you’ll learn that the werewolf was, in fact, a Boggart, taking the form of Penny’s worst fear.

The class will then be dismissed and that will be the end of Chapter 1 of Year 3. Hit the Collect button to claim your rewards. This will add Tonks to your list of friends.
