Introduction

Hello everyone, welcome to Part 3 of our Walkthrough for House Points Adventure for Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. In the previous part, you went to check the hourglasses to see your house’s standing in the house points contest. After a brief chat with Penny, you learned that she prioritizes everyone having fun over house-winning.

Later, you met with Madam Hooch and requested a challenge to showcase your flying skills. She gave you a tough task: catching two Snitches. Fortunately, your flying abilities paid off, and you managed to catch both Snitches, securing additional points for your house. After completing the challenge, you returned to the Great Hall to check the results, where your friends from other houses were also present. Penny was impressed by your stories of earning house points and suggested that since each house had demonstrated its skills, the competition should end in a tie.

However, Merula and Andre disagreed, leading to tension and arguments. Penny became concerned as the fun turned into a serious competition. Later, you met with Professor McGonagall, who realized you and your friends had organized a secret competition. She explained the importance of house points and why they shouldn’t be taken lightly.

After your discussion, she informed you that Professor Dumbledore urgently wanted to speak with you, prompting you to quickly head to him. Let’s see what unfolds next as you meet with Professor Dumbledore.

(Disclaimer: This walkthrough will feature the gameplay from the perspective of a graduate student, and some dialogs will differ depending on which house you belong to. Since the adventure is available for students of Year 3 and above, the star and attribute requirements for certain tasks might be different for you, depending on your current progress with the main story.)

Proceed to Dumbledore’s Office when you are ready. Upon arriving, you’ll notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you’re curious to see what they have to say. When you arrive, you’ll greet Professor Dumbledore and tell him that Professor McGonagall informed you that he wanted to see you.

Following that, he’ll say to listen closely because he needs your help. To discover what’s happened, you need to earn five stars within three hours. All five stars are required to pass. Since this task requires a lot of energy, it is recommended to start it with a full energy bar.

Bonus progress actions are tied to Professor Dumbledore and your character. Prioritize these actions to save some energy.

When you finish, you’ll find out that the housepoints hourglasses have disappeared. Professor Dumbledore will say that now you probably understand why he wanted to talk to you so urgently. There are two options to choose from. If you like Professor Dumbledore, it is recommended to pick the first option.

Professor Dumbledore will say that to avoid school-wide distress, he used a special illusion charm to create a temporary replacement.

You’ll ask if he wants you to help find them, to which he’ll confirm and say that he believes you are in a unique position to discreetly locate and return the hourglasses. Then, he’ll ask if you have any questions for him. There are three different options to choose from. These options will influence some dialogue that will follow, but they won’t impact the story.

The Headmaster will then suggest that it might be best to start the search where the hourglasses were last seen.

Go to the Great Hall to continue the story. There, you’ll see Andre, who will tell you that he just earned thirty house points from Madam Pince and came to check the results.

You’ll tell him that’s great, but then you’ll break the news to him that those are not the real hourglasses.

You’ll tell him that the Headmaster thinks your house points contest might have led to their disappearance, adding that he asked you to try and figure out what’s happened to them and that you’ve come here to check for clues. Andre will say he hasn’t noticed anything strange either and will ask you what clues you have so he can maybe help you.

You’ll accept Andre’s help, and together you’ll start brainstorming and discussing what could have happened. To complete the next task, you need to earn five stars within eight hours. All five stars are required to pass. Since this task requires a lot of energy, it is recommended to start it with a full energy bar.

Bonus progress actions are tied to the hourglasses and Andre. Prioritize these actions to save some energy.

You’ll realize that the culprit likely used magic to relocate the hourglasses.

You’ll come to the conclusion that because the hourglasses are quite large, it means the culprit likely used Reducio to shrink them down. That way, the culprit could carry the hourglasses away and hide them without anyone noticing. This line will differ based on the house you belong to.

Andre will remind you that Professor Dumbledore mentioned he had a feeling that because of your competition, the hourglasses disappeared, and that you need to find out who could have done it. You’ll tell him that it happened not long after Merula and he had an argument.

Andre will say that since both of you are actively trying to solve this case together, you can rule yourselves out as suspects, leaving three remaining suspects. He’ll then ask you what you think about who stole the hourglasses. There are three different options to choose from. All of them will eventually lead to the same outcome, so feel free to take your pick.

Andre will say that it’s good to keep the theory in mind but that you shouldn’t risk accusing anyone without evidence. You’ll agree with him that it’s best to stay calm and not jump to conclusions. You’ll decide that it’s best to talk to each of your friends to see if you can uncover the potential culprit.

Proceed to the Clocktower Courtyard when you are ready. Upon arriving, you’ll notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you’re curious to see what they have to say. When you arrive, Ben will be waiting for you, and he’ll say that Andre told him you want to discuss something with him.

You’ll tell Ben that the Hogwarts hourglasses have gone missing, and you have reason to think someone in your friend group might have taken them.

You will get extra lines of dialogue if you thought in the previous choice that Ben might be the culprit. In any case, you’ll ask Ben to explain why it couldn’t have been him and perhaps help you solve this case. To complete the next task, you need to earn five stars within three hours. All five stars are required to pass. Since this task requires a lot of energy, it is recommended to start it with a full energy bar.

Bonus progress actions are tied to Ben and your character. Prioritize these actions to save some energy. Slide the screen left and right to check all available actions.

Ben’s alibi is that he was with Professor Sprout the whole time, so he couldn’t have stolen the hourglasses. He’ll also add that Professor Sprout would have seen him and that you’re free to ask her, and she’ll confirm his alibi. Then he will ask you if you believe him. There are three options to choose from. If you like Ben, it is recommended to pick the first option.

If you choose not to believe him, he’ll want to help you understand that he’s not the culprit. Otherwise, he’ll simply want to assist you in finding out who the culprit is.

You’ll ask him what he suggests, and then he’ll share his idea. This line will differ based on which house you belong to.

You’ll like that idea because Nearly Headless Nick, as Gryffindor’s ghost, can roam anywhere in the castle, and if someone was sneaking around and trying to hide the hourglasses, maybe he saw them.

Go to the Great Hall to continue the story. When you arrive there, you’ll see that there’s no sign of Sir Nick, but luckily, upon hearing his name, he’ll appear.

You’ll tell him that you need his help with something, and he’ll gladly accept to assist you, adding that Gryffindors are always there to help a person in need. This line will differ based on which house you belong to.

You’ll also get an extra line of dialogue if you’re Head Boy/Head Girl.

You’ll then ask how he can help you, and you’ll mention that something important has gone missing. You’ll inquire if he’s seen anyone behaving strangely. Unfortunately, he’ll say he hasn’t seen anything unusual but overheard the portraits murmuring.

To learn the portraits’ story, you need to earn five stars within eight hours. All five stars are required to pass. Since this task requires a lot of energy, it is recommended to start it with a full energy bar.

Bonus progress actions are tied to Nearly Headless Nick and your character. Prioritize these actions to save some energy.

You’ll learn that the portraits were saying they saw a Slytherin sneaking around the shadows of the castle.

Afterward, he’ll ask you if you know any Slytherin witches that fit the portrait’s description and might be sneaking about the castle. There are three different options to choose from. The correct answer is “It’s Merula”.

This line will differ based on your previous choice.

Then you’ll decide to follow Merula to find out why she’s sneaking around or perhaps what she’s hiding.
