(Disclaimer: the dialogue and location in the first task will be slightly different depending on whether you belong to the Hufflepuff house.)
Proceed to the Herbology Classroom when you are ready. Upon arriving, you’ll notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you’re curious to see what they have to say. When you arrive, you’ll overhear Professor Sprout planning to go somewhere.

She’ll make a little joke with you.

She’ll explain to you that she’s been invited to a prestigious Herbology conference. Penny will breathe a sigh of relief because the Professor is returning to Hogwarts.

The professor will apologize for possibly upsetting you and will explain that she wants to attend the conference but is concerned about something. She’ll suggest explaining it to you. To discover Sprout’s worry, you need to earn five stars within three hours. Three stars are required to pass.

Bonus progress actions are tied to Diego, Penny, and Professor Sprout. Prioritize these actions to save some energy. Slide the screen left and right to check all available actions.

You’ll learn that Professor Sprout is worried about leaving one of her plants behind while she’s away at the Herbology conference.

You’ll really notice how much the plant means to Professor Sprout.

You’ll notice that something isn’t right with her plant and that it’s not behaving the same as other Fanged Geraniums.

She’ll say that Gerald may be a common magical plant, but she cares about him a lot. Then she’ll ask if you understand. There are two options to choose from. If you like Professor Sprout, it is recommended to pick the second option.

She’ll mention that she’s been taking care of Gerald for many years and that he represents a Hufflepuff treasure to her.

However, she’ll say that she doesn’t have time to explain right now and that the only thing that matters is that Gerald is safe and well. She’ll say that since she can’t take him with her, she has to leave him with someone who will take care of him and who is responsible.

You’ll tell her that you understand how she feels about Gerald, and then you’ll ask her if she’s sure she wants to leave Gerald in your care.

Shortly after, Professor Sprout will say that she has to leave because her train to London is leaving soon. You’ll wish her to enjoy the conference and promise her that you’ll take good care of Gerald. When the professor leaves, you’ll tell Penny that you’ve assured Professor Sprout you’ll take good care of Gerald, but you’ll add that you’re concerned because Gerald doesn’t look well.

Following that, you’ll decide to take Gerald to the Hospital Wing to see if you can find a way to help him. Go to the Hospital Wing to examine the plant. When you arrive there, you’ll be determined to check if Gerald might be sick.

Following that, Chiara will approach you. These lines will differ based on whether you belong to the Hufflepuff house and whether you have met Chiara.

She’ll say that her next patient should be someone named Gerald, and you’ll explain to her that Gerald is Professor Sprout’s plant and doesn’t look well, so you’ve come to see if the plant is sick. Chiara will mention that she’s just a volunteer student Healer and not a Herbologist, but she’ll still want to help you.

Following that, she’ll ask you if there is a specific part of Gerald that you’re concerned about. There are three different options to choose from. These options will influence some dialogue that will follow, but they won’t impact the story.

You’ll explain to Chiara that Professor Sprout entrusted you with Gerald’s well-being and ask if you can help her. Chiara will say that an assistant during the examination would be helpful.

To assist with Gerald’s checkup, you need to earn five stars within three hours. All five stars are required to pass. Since this task requires a lot of energy, it is recommended to start it with a full energy bar.

There is only one bonus progress action tied to Gerald. Prioritize this action to save some energy. Slide the screen left and right to check all available actions.

Chiara will say that she checked Gerald for signs of root rot, fungal infection, pests, and everything else she could think of, but she didn’t find any sign of disease or illness. These lines will differ based on your previous choice.

You’ll say that there’s got to be something more you can do, and you’ll ask Chiara if there’s a magical solution for Gerald. She’ll mention the Herbivicus charm, which makes plants grow, but she’ll add that she doesn’t recommend it because Gerald’s condition is delicate and a powerful magical intervention may be too much for his fragile constitution.

Chiara will tell you that she doesn’t know why, but she’ll add that she remembers seeing Gerald before when she visited Professor Sprout’s office in her first year. She’ll mention that the plant was in a special place on her windowsill.
That will prove to you that Professor Sprout has been taking care of Gerald for a long time. You’ll then thank Chiara for accepting the plant as a patient without hesitation.

Following that, you’ll wonder what to try next if Gerald isn’t sick and magical interventions are out. Chiara will come up with the idea and mention that Gerald might be hungry and perhaps hasn’t eaten in a long time.

You’ll wonder what Fanged Geraniums plants eat, and Chiara will say she doesn’t know, but she’ll emphasize that with a mouth and fangs like that, Gerald eats quite a lot.

You’ll decide to meet with Professor Kettleburn to see if he might be able to help you.

Proceed to the Care of Magical Creatures when you are ready to feed Gerald. Upon arriving, you’ll notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you’re curious to see what they have to say. When you arrive, you’ll see that Professor Kettleburn is very busy and focused on his creatures.

You’ll approach him and greet him. This line will differ based on whether you belong to the Hufflepuff house and whether you have met Professor Kettleburn.

You’ll be curious about what he means when he says you’ve arrived just in time, and he’ll explain that you’ve arrived just in time to meet Squawk, his Occamy.

You will get additional lines of dialogue if you have completed A Bad Omen Adventure.

Shortly after, you’ll say that you’ve come to ask for advice. You’ll explain to him that you’re taking care of Professor Sprout’s Fanged Geranium while she’s away from Hogwarts.

These lines will differ based on your previous choice.

You’ll mention that you think Gerald might be hungry and that you need help because you don’t know what Fanged Geraniums eat.
Professor Kettleburn will say that he has food for Gerald somewhere, but he can’t search for it because he can’t leave Squawk alone. If he does, she might escape and cause all sorts of trouble. You’ll offer to look after Squawk while he searches for food for Gerald. You’ll have an additional line of dialogue if you have completed A Bad Omen Adventure.

To cheer up Squawk, you need to earn five stars within three hours. Three stars are required to pass.

Bonus progress actions are tied to Squawk and your character. Prioritize these actions to save some energy.

Luckily, you’ll manage to improve Squawk’s mood, which will make Professor Kettleburn very happy.

He’ll add that Squawk doesn’t warm up to just anyone and that Occamies rarely do because of their fierce instincts. However, with much effort, he’s managed to reduce Squawk’s aggressive outbursts to only a few bites a week.

He’ll mention that many thought he was foolish to keep an Occamy as a pet, adding that he believes Occamies make great pets. Then he’ll ask if you agree with him. There are two options to choose from. If you like Professor Kettleburn, it is recommended to pick the first option.

You’ll say that it must take a lot of dedication and patience to care for magical creatures the way he does. He’ll respond that, as a proud Hufflepuff, he strives for nothing less, as dedication and patience are hallmarks of the house.

He’ll then say that since you’ve helped him with Squawk, it’s now his turn to help you feed Gerald, and shortly after, you’ll attempt to feed Gerald with his assistance.

But sadly, Gerald won’t eat anything.

Professor Kettleburn will try to encourage you not to give up and will tell you that with dedication and patience, he’s sure you’ll find a way to bring Gerald back to his old, bitey self. You’ll ask him if he knows why Gerald is so important to Professor Sprout, but he’ll say he doesn’t know, only that Gerald has been with her for a long time, as long as he’s known the Professor, which is a very long time.

Afterward, he’ll say that he’s not a gardening expert, but he has some extra coir and natural fibers from when he refurbished Squawk’s nest. He’ll add that plants like that sort of thing. You’ll thank him profusely for his help and get an idea of who to ask for help next.
