Go to the Hagrid’s Garden to continue the story. Once there, you will meet your friend Barnaby.
He will explain that he’s training an albino bloodhound to play nice with other dogs. Hagrid lets Fang help out. You will like to hear that, but you will notice that the bloodhound is somewhat skittish.
Barnaby will explain that the bloodhound, Pearl, is shy. He has been encouraging her, but it wasn’t enough. You will decide to help Barnaby while you wait for Hagrid.
Bonus progress actions are tied to Barnaby and your character. Prioritize these actions to save some energy.
You will advise Barnaby that if you offer her a treat, maybe she’ll come out of her shell.
Luckily, when Barnaby promises Pearl that he’ll give her treats if she plays with Fang, Pearl’s mood will improve.
Shortly after, Hagrid will arrive.
Hagrid will mention that it’s a shame you and Barnaby can’t go together on an errand he’s about to give.
You will tell Barnaby that it is a secret. Hagrid will ask you if Barnaby can be trusted. This choice won’t have a significant impact on the story, but if you like Barnaby, pick the first option and it will lead to some funny dialogue.
Hagrid will explain that your task is to return a flute he borrowed from Hogwarts. You need to bring the flute to the corridor on the third floor. He will also warn you that nobody should see you. If you have completed the Harry’s Troll Problem Adventure, you will get an additional line of dialogue.
You will ask Hagrid if he can give you some more information. He will accept to answer only one more question. Feel free to choose the option you like. The third option will lead to some funny dialogue.
You and Barnaby will accept Hagrid’s offer. Go to the Third Floor of Hogwarts to continue the story. This is a new unlocked location in the game.
Barnaby will be confused more than usual, and he will start asking questions like why Hagrid has a flute or why you are returning it if he took it in the first place. Also, he will be curious about what are you doing at Hogwarts.
You have options to decide if you want to tell everything. This choice will influence some dialogue later, but it won’t influence the overall story, so feel free to choose the option you like.
Suddenly, Ms. Norris will arrive.
You will understand that Filch is somewhere close. You and Barnaby need to quickly exit the hallway before he arrives. To find an exit, you need to earn five stars within three hours. All five stars are required to pass.
There is only one bonus progress action tied to your character. Prioritize actions tied to your character to save a bit of energy. Don’t forget to slide the screen left and right to check all available options.
You will be quick to notice that one door is your only chance of escape, but Barnaby will point out that it is locked. You will try to use Alohomora to unlock it.
You will escape Mr. Filch just by a hair.
You will be happy that you escaped and you are in the right room, where you need to leave the flute. Barnaby will notice that it is very dark. Naturally, you will cast Lumos for this situation.
Once you cast the Lumos, you will be surprised…
Barnaby will mention that you accidentally provoked the three-headed dog and it’s extremely dangerous. Following your combat instinct, you will try to cast Expelliarmus.
Unfortunately, you made the beast even angrier.
To find a way how to stop the three-headed dog, you need to earn five stars within eight hours. All five stars are required to pass. Start this task when your energy bar is full.
Bonus progress actions will be on Barnaby, the three-headed dog, and your character. Don’t forget to slide the screen left and right to check all available options.
You will have an idea that Hagrid may have sent you with a flute on purpose. Maybe the flute is a clue.
You will think that maybe the dog is vulnerable to music. You will try to play the flute, but the three-headed dog will bark at you and you will drop the flute.
The flute will break.
Barnaby will be worried and will ask you what are you going to do now. Feel free to choose the option you like. The second option can be funnier and if you completed Celestina’s New Groove Adventure, you will get additional dialogue after this option.
Luckily, the three-headed dog will fall asleep.
Barnaby concluded that whatever Professor Dumbledore is hiding, it must be very important. You will decide to flee the room as soon as possible.
Go to Hagrid’s Hut to inform him that the lute is now broken. When you arrive, Hagrid’s reaction will be interesting to say at least.
He will explain that not many people encounter Fluffy and live to tell the tale but he’ll be glad that you succeeded in your task. The following line of dialogue will differ based on who sang to the three-headed dog.
This line may differ based on your choice earlier when you advised Hagrid if Barnaby can be trusted.
You will inform Hagrid what happened to the flute. His reaction will surprise you.
He will explain that he needed to see how you would fare against a ferocious three-headed dog – Fluffy. You can react in two different ways. Feel free to choose the option you like.
Hagrid will mention that his obstacle didn’t go as he planned. He will explain how. To hear Hagrid’s explanation, you need to earn five stars within three hours. All five stars are required to pass.
Bonus progress action is tied to Hagrid. Prioritize actions tied to him to save a bit of energy.
You will discover that Hagrid originally planned to send you to the three-headed dog without any hints.
That’s why he let Barnaby go with you and he also gave you the flute as a clue.
Hagrid will propose that you should keep Fluffy’s weakness for music under wraps. Meanwhile, he’ll go back to retrieve what’s left of the flute. Hagrid will thank you for your help and he’ll mention that his obstacle was the last one. You will decide to report back to Professor Dumbledore.
This will mark the end of Part 3 of the Protecting the Stone Adventure. Hit the Collect button to claim your reward. You will receive 3 Gems.
What will you find out from Professor Dumbledore? Will he be content with the obstacles you encountered so far? Find out in the next part of this dragon-filled adventure.
