Once you start the adventure, Tonks will ask you to meet her in the Great Hall, so proceed there when you are ready.
[Disclaimer: This walkthrough will feature the gameplay from the perspective of a Year 7 student. Since the adventure is available for students of Year 4 and above, the star and attribute requirements for certain tasks might be different for you, depending on your current progress of the main story.]
Once you arrive, you’ll notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you are curious to see what they have to say.
Upon greeting you, Tonks will inform you that a magical artifact went missing. As it seems, the professors are quite upset about it. You’ll ask if anyone knows what the missing artifact is.
Sadly, the only thing Penny will be able to tell you is that the professors are quite eager to find the missing artifact.
Tonks will ask if you have any idea why they are so concerned about finding the artifact. There are three options to reply with. Other than some minor dialogue differences, this choice won’t heavily impact the story, so feel free to pick whichever option you prefer.
According to Tonks, the caretaker and the teachers will be looking for the missing artifact.
Moments later, Merula and Ismelda will show up. Apparently, the two of them are also interested in finding the missing artifact.
Penny will wonder if they are up to something. Unfortunately, the Most Powerful Witch at Hogwarts won’t give her a straight answer.
You’ll tell her that finding the missing artifact is important to Professor Dumbledore. As it seems, that exactly is the reason why Merula is so interested in finding it. You will ask her to tell you what she’s planning to do.
To learn Merula’s plan, you will need to earn five stars within one hour. Three stars are needed to pass.
There are bonus progress actions tied to Tonks and Talbott. Prioritize those if you want to save a bit of energy.
You’ll learn that Merula and Ismelda want to find the missing artifact and have fun with it before returning it to the Headmaster. Penny won’t like that idea.
Sadly, Merula will not be interested in hearing her opinion. You’ll defend your Hufflepuff friend and say that she only wants to help Professor Dumbledore.
Hopefully, you’ll be able to find the artifact and return it to the Headmaster before Merula gets her hands on it.
The Most Powerful Witch at Hogwarts will laugh after hearing you say that. Apparently, she’s quite confident she’ll be the first one to find the missing artifact.
She’ll remind you that no one actually knows what the missing item is. Hopefully, your friends will be able to help you figure it out.
Shortly after, Penny will ask you to meet her in the courtyard, so proceed there when you are ready.
Once you arrive, you will be able to interact with some of the characters and check out what they have to say.
Upon seeing you, Merula will sarcastically ask if you’ve managed to find the missing artifact. You’ll remind her that you still need to figure out what to look for.
Penny will be fairly confident that the two of you will find the missing artifact before Merula and Ismelda. Apparently, the two of them aren’t the only ones looking for it.
Penny will wonder if Tulip is working with Merula and Ismelda.
She’ll admit she is surprised about it. She will ask if you are surprised, too. There are two options to reply with. This choice won’t have any major impact on the story, so feel free to go with either option.
You’ll learn that Tulip isn’t exactly working with Merula and Ismelda. She only wants to find the artifact and use it before it gets returned to the Headmaster. Penny will admit that it makes more sense.
As it seems, Tulip learned about the missing artifact from Tonks, and she realized she might be able to use it to prank someone.
Ismelda will remind everyone that you still don’t know exactly what to look for. She’ll suggest brainstorming together to figure out what the missing artifact is. Both Penny and you will be surprised to hear that.
Ismelda will explain her reasoning to you.
In the end, all of you will join forces to figure out what the missing artifact is.
To do that, you have three hours during which you’ll need to earn five stars. Since all five stars are needed to pass, it is not recommended to start this task if your energy bar is empty.
There are bonus progress actions linked to Ismelda and your character. Focus on those if you want to save some energy.
Working together will turn out to be a good idea. You’ll name some of the artifacts that could’ve gone missing like Pensieve, Sword of Gryffindor, or the Sorting Hat.
If you’ve completed Secrets of Godric’s Hollow adventure, you’ll get some additional lines of dialogue.
According to Penny, the artifact that is missing is the Mirror of Erised.
Ismelda and Tulip will wonder what the Mirror of Erised is.
Penny will quickly explain that the Mirror of Erised shows the witch or wizard their ultimate heart’s desire.
After hearing that, Merula, Tulip, and Ismelda will be even more motivated than before to find the missing artifact.
Still, Penny will be fairly confident that the two of you will find the Mirror of Erised before them.
Shortly after, Merula, Ismelda, and Tulip will leave the courtyard. Once they leave, Penny will admit that finding the mirror before them won’t be an easy task.
Still, you will have faith in your friend. You’ll suggest doing what she does best – studying. You’ll decide to go to the library and learn everything you can about the Mirror of Erised. Proceed there when you are ready to continue.
Upon arriving, you’ll notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you are curious to see what they have to say.
You’ll notice that Penny gathered a lot of different books and ask if she learned anything that might help you find the mirror. She’ll be more than happy to tell you everything she knows.
Hopefully, the two of you will be able to find the mirror before Merula and the others.
You have one hour to research the Mirror of Erised. During that time, you need to earn five stars. Since all five stars are required to pass, it is not recommended to start this task if you are low on energy.
Be sure to slide the screen left and right to see all the available actions. There is an action with bonus progress tied to Penny. Prioritize it whenever it is available to save a bit of energy.
After doing the research, you’ll learn some important bits about the Mirror of Erised.
Penny will mention the words that are engraved on the frame of the mirror. Interestingly enough, if you read those words backwards, you might figure out their meaning.
In any case, Penny will understand why the Headmaster wants the mirror back. Hopefully, the research will help you find the missing artifact before Merula.
Penny will admit that she isn’t sure if she’d want to look into the mirror.
Moments later, Madam Pince will approach you. As it seems, she noticed that Penny and you have been reading about the Mirror of Erised, and she’ll want to know if you are trying to find it.
There are two options to reply with. While this choice won’t significantly impact the story, it is somewhat recommended to be honest and tell her that you’re looking for the mirror.
Madam Pince will explain that the Mirror of Erised is a powerful magical object. It gives a compelling, alluring, and even mystifying reflection to the observer. She will also warn you.
After hearing her words, you’ll figure out that the mirror was carefully hidden away before it went missing.
Penny will agree with you. Madam Pince will imply that the hiding place of the mirror was also hidden.
Shortly after, she will return to her work.
After thinking about it for a moment, Penny will say she might know where the Mirror of Erised is hidden.
She’ll say that Madam Pince was most likely talking about the Room of Requirement. According to some of the rumors, the room should be located somewhere on the seventh floor and it is perhaps unplottable.
You’ll point out that looking for the Room of Requirement might not be the most logical thing to do. After all, the mirror went missing, so it is most definitely not there anymore.
Penny will agree with you. However, if you search the corridors, you might be able to figure out where the mirror went.
She will like your idea. Unfortunately, she won’t be able to hide her excitement, and Madam Pince will warn her to keep her voice down.
You’ll decide to ask some of your friends to help you search the corridor. The following lines will differ, based on whether you’re friends with Talbott or not.
Head to the corridor when you are ready to continue. Barnaby will be happy to see you.
Talbott will be curious if you need their help to find the Mirror of Erised. You’ll nod and say that you’re looking for it. These lines will be different if this is your first time meeting Talbott.
You’ll thank both of them for meeting you.
You will then tell them that Merula, Ismelda, and Tulip want to look into the mirror before returning it to Professor Dumbledore.
Apparently, Barnaby and Talbott wouldn’t mind looking in the mirror, either. Barnaby wishes to look at it for fun, while Talbott expects to see something meaningful, like a profound and powerful vision.
They’ll be curious to hear your opinion. There are three options to choose from. If you agree with Barnaby, it is recommended to pick the first option. If you agree with Talbott, you should go with the second one. If you don’t want to pick a side, you should choose the third option.
You’ll tell them that the Headmaster really wants to get the mirror back. And the best way to make that happen is to find it before Merula and the others.
Barnaby will be curious why you wanted to meet them in the corridor. You’ll tell them about the Room of Requirement. Apparently, Talbott has heard some things about it.
Hopefully, you might find some clues that could help you figure out where the mirror went.
Barnaby will ask what to look for. You’ll tell him to keep his eyes open for anything out of the ordinary. Moments later, the three of you will start looking for clues.
Searching the corridor requires earning five stars within three hours. Three stars are needed to pass.
There are bonus progress actions tied to the books and a strange plant pod. Prioritize those if you want to save some energy.
You will thank Barnaby and Talbott for helping you search the corridor. In the end, a strange plant pod will be the only unusual thing you’ll find.
Barnaby will mention the nearby Niffler.
Still, the Niffler wouldn’t be looking for something as large as the Mirror of Erised. In other words, the plant could be a clue. According to Talbott, the plant pod you found is from a Puffapod plant.
He’ll say that he only saw those plants in the Herbology classroom. On top of that, there were also some books about Herbology in the corridor.
You’ll decide to visit Professor Sprout and see if she knows what happened to the mirror.
You will need to wait four hours before you can continue. Since you will probably be low on energy at this point, it is recommended to wait and let your energy recharge in the meantime.
Proceed to the Herbology classroom once the waiting time is over. Penny will be glad your hunt for clues paid off. Still, you won’t be sure if that’s the case.
However, all the clues you found led you to the Herbology classroom. According to Penny, no one has seen Professor Sprout lately.
Suddenly, you’ll spot something in the classroom. Upon taking a better look, Penny will confirm that you’ve found the Mirror of Erised.
She’ll wonder if she should look into the mirror. There are three options to reply with. Regardless of the option you pick, she will decide not to look into the mirror. However, if you like Penny, it is recommended to pick the third option.
She’ll appreciate it if you let her decide.
Shortly after, Professor Sprout will arrive. She’ll be surprised to see Penny and you. The two of you will say that you’ve been looking for her.
Professor Sprout will explain that she’s been getting some supplies from Hogsmeade. You’ll ask her about the Mirror of Erised.
Instead of answering your question, she will tell you to mind your own business.
You’ll politely try to convince her to tell you about the mirror. You will also mention that the Headmaster is looking for it.
In the end, she will agree to tell you why she brought the Mirror of Erised to her classroom.
Talking to Professor Sprout requires earning five stars within three hours. Since all five stars are needed to pass, you should avoid starting this task if you are low on energy.
There is a bonus progress action tied to the mirror. Prioritizing it should save you a bit of energy.
Professor Sprout will admit that she should’ve talked to the Headmaster before moving the mirror.
Penny will wonder why she did that. Professor Sprout will decide to save that story for the Headmaster. She’ll suggest going to his office immediately.
Hopefully, Professor Dumbledore will be pleased to hear that you’ve found the mirror.
This will conclude Part 1 of Search for the Mirror of Erised adventure. Hit the Collect button to claim your reward. You will receive 300 Coins.
What was the reason Professor Sprout moved the mirror? And what will Professor Dumbledore do? Find out in the next part of this adventure!
