Hello everyone, welcome to Part 1 of our Walkthrough for Shadows of the Dark Lord Adventure of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. You and your friends will decide to go camping. While preparing for an adventure in the wilds, you will notice that something is wrong and the professors are hiding something.

[Disclaimer: This walkthrough will feature the gameplay from the perspective of a Hogwarts graduate. Since the adventure is available for students of Year 3 and above, the star and attribute requirements for certain tasks might be different for you, depending on your current progress of the main story.]

Go to Hagrid’s Garden to start the adventure. Once you are there, you can check what your friends have to say by tapping on the speech bubbles above their heads. Hagrid will be glad to see you and your friends.

He was helping set up the Hogsmeade Carnival all day and when he returned home he found his garden infested with Gnomes. He thought you and your friends might help him de-gnoming the garden. He’ll comment that it is good to stick together, especially in times like these.

You will be confused why he comment that and ask him if there’s something wrong. Hagrid will try to avoid questions. You can react in two different ways. This choice will only influence some dialogue later, so feel free to choose the option you like.

Shortly after, he will start de-gnoming the garden. Penny will approach you and she’ll say that Hagrid seems acting a bit odd. If you chose the first option in the previous choice, you will get additional lines of dialogue.

Your method on how to persuade Hagrid to share the secret will depend on your previous choice.

To de-gnome the garden with Hagrid, you need to earn five stars within three hours. Three stars are required to pass.

Bonus progress actions are tied to Penny, Hagrid, and your character. Prioritize these actions to save some energy.

After you’ve finished de-gnoming, Hagrid will be happy because he had a lot of fun with you and your friends. He will then admit that he was a bit out of sorts. Then he will mention something interesting.

You will wonder which dark forces he is referring to. The following line of dialog may differ, based on your previous choice.

Hagrid will explain that he doesn’t want to mean to alarm you, he just got a bit too comfortable and he overspoke. He will advise you to keep your friends close and you’ll be fine. This will give Penny an idea.

Go to the Great Hall to continue. If you are curious about what other students have to say, tap on the speech bubbles above their heads.

Penny was thinking about what Hagrid said earlier and because there are not many warm days left before the season changes, she thought about the Hogwarts camping trip.

You will like this idea. Penny will further explain that you will spend more time with friends, reconnect with nature, and eat delicious food cooked on an open fire. She will ask you which of these things that she mentioned is most exciting to you. This choice won’t have a significant impact on the story, so feel free to choose the option you like.

Your Hufflepuff friend will point out that to fully enjoy your camping trip, it needs to be carefully planned. To plan your trip, you need to earn five stars within one hour (three hours for Year 5+). All five stars are required to pass.

There is only one bonus progress action and it is tied to Penny. Prioritize this action to save a bit of energy.

You’ve managed to make a good list of everything you’ll need for the perfect camping trip. You and Penny will pick the perfect spot. If you said to Penny how you are excited to reconnect to nature you’ll get additional lines of dialogue.

Barnaby will be chosen to carry the food, while Tulip will find a perfect tent.

Next, go to the Library to consult a map of the grounds for the ideal campsite. If you want to check what’s on your classmates’ minds, tap on their speech bubbles. You will sit near Penny. She will be studying the map, but she’ll remain troubled by Hagrid’s words.

She will ask you if it’s reasonable for her to feel worried or if she’s just overthinking it. This choice will influence some dialogue later, but it won’t have a huge impact on the story.

Your friend will believe that camping might be just the thing to get her out of her head. Penny considered the location for the campsite. The location should be peaceful, exciting, away from the castle, and the lakeshore will seem the perfect place.

Before you leave to check in with the others, Madam Pince will approach you. She overheard that you mentioned camping. She’ll be against that idea.

You will ask her what is going on because there were no official announcements of any kind. To hear her warning, you need to collect five stars within three hours. Three stars are required to pass.

Madam Pince will tell you to stick to your dorms for now, especially at night. She won’t be specific about the reason behind it.

You’ll conclude that you’ve seen too much at this point to ignore this issue. You will decide to gather Tulip and Barnaby and ask them if they’ve heard anything as well.

Go to the Clocktower Courtyard when you are ready to continue. Don’t forget to tap the speech bubbles if you are curious about what other classmates have to say. You’ll hear great news. Barnaby found food and Tulip found the perfect tent.

You will inform Tulip and Barnaby that Madam Pince gave you a very strange warning. You will ask them if they had seen or bread anything strange during their search of the castle. 

Barnaby will mention that Pitts would only give him the bangers if he promised I was stocking up reserves so I didn’t have to leave my dorm. Tulip overheard the conversation between Professor McGonagall and Professor Snape. It seems that they will have a meeting.

Tulip will think that this meeting is nothing important, while Penny will wonder if this has to do with Madam Pince’s warning. The following line of dialogue will differ based on your previous choice.

Penny will guess at what’s happening, and if it’s true it won’t abode well for the camping trip. Barnaby and Tulip will have their theories. To discuss theories with everyone you need to earn five stars within three hours. All five stars are required to pass.

There are multiple bonus progress actions tied to your character. Prioritize actions tied to your character to save some energy.

You summarize all theories. Penny thinks there’s a dangerous threat to the school, and the professors are trying to keep students from panicking. Tulip thinks that the professors are just preparing for a dance or a surprise party of some kind while Barnaby will say there’s nothing going on at all and everyone are bit confused.

Penny will ask you about your opinion on which theory is correct. Feel free to choose the option you like.

Penny would feel a lot better if you know for certain that nobody is in danger before any plans to sleep outside. Tulip will propose eavesdropping on the conversation between Professors Snape and McGonagall.

Penny will reluctantly accept the idea. She’ll propose sending two people, so there’s no room for misinterpretation. You will volunteer to go with Tulip. You and Tulip should go to Transfiguration Classroom before the professors arrive.
