Shadows of the Dark Lord Part 2

Introduction

Hello everyone, welcome to Part 2 of our Walkthrough for Shadow of the Dark Lord Adventure of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. During the previous part, Penny, Tulip, Barnaby and you started preparing for camping at the lakeshore.

You’ve started doubting if is this a good idea since the professors are acting odd. They only gave you advice to stay in the castle, but they avoid answering what is going on. It’s time for you and Tulip to find out more.

(Disclaimer: This walkthrough will feature the gameplay from the perspective of a Year 7 student. Since the adventure is available for students of Year 3 and above, the star and attribute requirements for certain tasks might be different for you, depending on your current progress of the main story.)

Go to the Transfiguration Classroom to continue the story. You and Tulip will manage to arrive at the classroom before Professors Snape and McGonagall. Tulip will remind you that the professors want to talk in private about student safety. You will decide to hide behind Professor McGonagall’s desk.

To successfully eavesdrop, you need to earn five stars within three hours. All five stars are required to pass.

There is only one bonus progress action and it is tied to Professor Snape. Prioritize actions tied to him to save a bit of energy.

You will find out that Professor Snape thinks something quite dark is coming.

Professor McGonagall, on the other hand, thinks the rumors might not even be true. She told Professor Snape to carry on as if things were normal. Because of this, Tulip will be more confident that there is no reason to worry.

You can react in two different ways. This choice will influence some dialogue later but it won’t influence the overall story.

Tulip will have a brilliant safety plan for a camping trip. She’ll mention a powerful variation on the Shield Charm called Protego Maxima.

You will point out that this must be a very complicated spell to learn. Tulip will reassure you that Professor Flitwick is always eager to teach students new charms.

You will be convinced that if you cast this charm on the camp, everyone will be safe.

Go to the Duelling Room to speak with Professor Flitwick. When you arrive there, the professor will practice dueling skills on a dummy.

You will explain to the professor that you want to learn Protego Maxima. He will point out that this charm is the strongest version of the Shield Charm that exists. He will be delighted to teach you, but not anytime soon.

He’ll explain that he needs to focus on his dueling skills for now, so he doesn’t have much time to talk. You will carefully ask Professor Flitwick why is he focused on dueling skills.

The professor will avoid answering and he will ask you if you can accept that. If you like Professor Flitwick, it is recommended to choose the second option. This choice will influence some dialogue later, but it won’t impact the overall story.

Whichever you choose, the professor will tell you a bit of information, enough to help you keep yourself safe until all is settled. To learn from Flitwick, you need to earn five stars within three hours. Three stars are required to pass (all five stars for Year 5+).

There is only one bonus progress and it is tied to Professor Flitwick. Prioritize actions tied to him to save a bit of energy.

You will find out that all the teachers are worried because of a disturbing sighting reported by a fellow student. Professor Flitwick will say that the rumors may be false, but if it’s true, the future will be very terrible.

He has grown quite comfortable teaching lately, rather than fighting as he did in the First Wizarding War, so he’ll need to practice. He’ll give you advice to stay inside and keep your friends close. Tulip won’t be satisfied by half-answers so far.

You will wonder which other professor to ask, but to actually get useful information. You’ll remember that Hagrid seemed eager to discuss something with you, but he kept stopping himself. Now that you know most of the story, he may be willing to confirm or deny the last few details.

Go to the Hagrid’s Hut when you are ready. You will explain to Hagrid that you and your friends have received a series of strange warnings from several faculty members and that you hope he can help you make sense of it all.

You will reassure him that you don’t want to make him break any promises but all this secrecy is leading to a lot of confusion, and your friends and you aren’t sure what to believe. You will start summarizing what you’ve learned so far. You know that a student saw something that got everyone on edge. Then you’ll explain what your friends think.

The following lines of dialogue will differ based on one of your previous choices.

Hagrid will point out that if the rumors are true everyone will face the darkest days he has ever seen. He can’t break his promise to remain silent, but he will try to explain which theory is the closest. To complete the next task, you need to earn five stars within three hours. All five stars are required to pass.

Bonus progress actions are tied to Hagrid and Fang. Prioritize these actions to save some energy.

It seems that Penny was right and everyone is indeed in danger. Hagrid has a personal history related to this problem.

Hagrid will be sorry that he has to hide things from you. He will ask if you are mad at him. If you like Hagrid, it is recommended to pick the first option.

Hagrid will tell you that he doesn’t want to see more students in the Hospital Wing because of this problem. You will wonder who’s in there. Hagrid won’t tell you at first, but suddenly, he will accidentally share too much.

Go to the Hospital Wing to meet your friend Ben. Once you are there, you can check what other patients have to say by tapping on the speech bubbles above their heads. Luckily, Ben will be better when you arrive. He’ll mention that you won’t believe what happened.

This choice won’t have a huge impact on the overall story so feel free to choose the option you prefer.

Some dialogue may differ based on your progress in the main story.

You will convince Ben to share what he saw. To complete the next task, you need to earn five stars within eight hours. All five stars are required to pass. It is recommended to start this task once your energy bar is full.

There is only one bonus progress action and it’s tied to your character. Prioritize actions tied to your character to save some energy.

You will be shocked to hear that Ben saw Voldemort by the Black Lake. He was circling the lakeshore, following a beautiful group of Glow Bugs. Then he heard a strange sound in the dark so he went to investigate and there he was.

The next part of the story will differ based on your progress in the main story.

Afterward, Ben ran for the castle as fast as he could and he tripped on a rock. He went down, and later, he woke up in the Hospital Wing. You will be overwhelmed by this story. Ben will ask you if you believe him. If you like Ben, it is recommended to choose the first option.

Your Gryffindor friend told Dumbledore about this when he came to visit, but the Headmaster was not certain if this is true. Ben will ask you to promise you won’t go to the lakeshore until more details are discovered. That will remind you that your friends are still planning to camp near the lakeshore. You have to inform them of what Ben saw.
