The Curse-Breaker’s Gambit Part 4
Introduction
Hello everyone, welcome to Part 4 of our Walkthrough for The Curse-Breaker’s Gambit Adventure of Harry Potter Hogwarts Mystery. During the previous part, you gathered your teammates in the Great Hall to practice for the tournament. Unfortunately, things didn’t quite go as planned. Murphy and Tulip got into a heated argument, which resulted in Tulip quitting the team. Badeea did the same since she felt she is dragging everyone else down.
However, you weren’t willing to give up easily. You met Badeea in the courtyard and helped her creatively understand wizard chess. She agreed to rejoin the team, so you went to look for Tulip next. You found her in the Artefact Room. She was still furious after her argument with Murphy, but luckily, you managed to calm her down. You learned that her style of play is vastly different than Murphy’s, which is why the two of them got into a disagreement in the first place. After talking to her, she agreed to give the team another go.
Lastly, you visited the portrait of Brian Gagwilde and asked him to help you get the chess pieces to cooperate. Thankfully, he was able to help you, and soon enough, you and your teammates will be ready to compete in the tournament.
Once you start this part, you will be met with a waiting period of four hours. Since you will likely be low on energy at this point, it is recommended to wait and let your energy recharge in the meantime.

Since the adventure is available for students of Year 5 and above, the star and attribute requirements for certain tasks might be different for you, depending on your current progress of the main story.]
Go to Flourish and Blotts once the waiting time is over.
Once you arrive, you will notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you are curious to see what they have to say. Murphy will be happy to see you. He’ll admit that the three of them were getting worried you’d be late for the first round.
You’ll smile and say there’s no chance you’d miss it. You will ask if they had a chance to make up. He will cheerfully say that the team is back on track. Tulip will ask if you’ve figured out how to get Brian Gagwilde’s wizard chess pieces to cooperate.
You’ll tell her that you did. You will also say that each of you should embrace your differences and work together.
Murphy will completely agree with you. Once again, he will apologize for nearly breaking up the team. You’ll be glad that the team is finally back together and ready to compete in the tournament.
Moments later, Celine Castillon will arrive.
She will immediately grab everyone’s attention. Murphy will find it hard to hide his excitement.
Tulip will say she imagined Celine would be taller. The following lines will differ, based on whether or not you’ve completed The Second Quidditch Cup and A Dragon’s Quest adventures.
Murphy will have difficulties calculating the odds of your team winning against Celine’s team. He’ll ask if you think your team can win the tournament. There are two options to reply with. This choice won’t significantly impact the story, so feel free to pick either option.
Shortly after, Madam Villanelle will announce the start of the tournament.
Luckily, none of your teammates will be matched against Celine in the first round.
You’ll wish all of them good luck. Competing in the tournament is your next task. To complete it, you need to earn five stars within eight hours. All five stars are needed to pass.
This task is divided into two parts. The first part lasts until you fill about half of the entire star meter. During it, you will find the bonus actions tied to your chessboard and your opponent.
During the second part, you will find a reward action tied to Madam Villanelle.
Your team will be advancing to the final round thanks to the fact that each member of your team has won their match. You and your teammates will be happy with this outcome. Your previous choice will affect the following line of dialogue.
By the looks of it, your team will be going against Celine’s team in the final round. Murphy will tell you he has some troubling news. According to him, Celine is using the Dragon Variation of the Slytherin Defense. You’ll remember that Aberforth used the same strategy to defeat Brian Gagwilde.
Murphy will be quite sure there is no way to win against that strategy. You’ll need to come up with a strategy to counter the Dragon Variation of the Slytherin Defense. After thinking about it for a moment, you’ll decide to ask Aberforth for help.
Head over to Hogs Head Inn when you’re ready to meet Aberforth. He will be surprised to see you. You will tell him you need his assistance.
You’ll tell him that your team made it to the final round of the tournament and that you’ll be facing the top student player.
Murphy will add that Celine is planning to use the Dragon Variation of the Slytherin Defense against your team. Aberforth will say that your team’s chances of winning aren’t looking good.
You will ask him to teach you how to counter Celine’s strategy. According to Aberforth, there is no known counter to the Dragon Variation of the Slytherin Defense. Murphy will agree with him and say that he never found a counter for it in any of the books he read.
You’ll tell him that a textbook cannot teach everything. To solve a problem, one must sometimes use their creativity. You’ll propose devising an answer to the Dragon Variation of the Slytherin Defense. That will come as a surprise to Aberforth, while Murphy will appreciate your strategy. You’ll then begin devising a strategy to assist you in defeating Celine.
To complete this task, you will need to earn five stars within three hours. All five stars are needed to pass, so avoid starting this task if you are out of energy.
There are reward actions tied to Tulip and your character. Focus on those actions to save energy.
After analyzing things, you’ll realize Celine is going to focus on capturing your most powerful pieces. This will allow you to use your pawns to capture her King.
Both Aberforth and Murphy will agree that you might win against Celine using this strategy.
However, the strategy is still missing one very important element… a name. You will be able to pick the name for the strategy. There are three options to choose from. This choice will affect some of the dialogue lines later on, but it won’t significantly change the story, so feel free to go with the name you prefer.
Shortly after, you and your teammates will leave the Hog’s Head Inn.
Head to the Flourish and Blotts to compete in the final round of the tournament. When you arrive, you will be able to interact with some of the characters and see what they have to say. Murphy will be quite excited about the final round.
Hopefully, the new strategy will help you defeat your opponents.
By the looks of it, you will be the one going against Celine Castillon. Murphy will want to know how you are feeling about it. There are three options to reply with. This choice won’t significantly impact the story, so feel free to go with the option you prefer.
Not long after that, the final round of the tournament will begin.
Competing against Celine is your next task. To complete it, you need to earn five stars within eight hours. All five stars are needed to pass.
There are bonus actions tied to Madam Villanelle, your character, and the chessboard. Prioritize those to save energy.
Eventually, Celine will be able to capture your Queen.
She’ll be confident that the game is nearing its end.
However, this will give you the perfect opportunity to use the new strategy. You’ll move your pawn forward and capture Celine’s King.
Judging by her reaction, she definitely didn’t see that coming.
You’ll say that you and your teammates invented a new counter-strategy to the Dragon Variation of the Slytherin Defense. She will be curious to know the name of the strategy. The choice you made in the Hog’s Head Inn will take effect here.
Celine will gracefully accept her defeat and congratulate you on winning the tournament.
Murphy will be extremely happy with the way things played out.
He will suggest celebrating the victory. You will agree with him. Head to the Three Broomsticks when you are ready to continue. Upon arriving, you will notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you want to see what they have to say. You’ll thank Murphy for the drinks. He will admit he didn’t think your team had a high chance of winning the tournament.
Winning the tournament earned your team a massive trophy. Badeea will wonder if the trophy was hand-sculpted.
Tulip will say that you’re the one who carried the team to victory. There are two options for you to reply with. Since the entire team worked hard to win the tournament, it is recommended to pick the second option and give credit to your teammates.
Shortly after, you and your teammates will start celebrating. To complete this task, you will need to earn five stars within three hours. All five stars are needed to pass. Because of that, it is not recommended to start this task if your energy bar is empty.
There are reward actions tied to Madam Rosmerta and your character. Prioritizing these actions should save you some energy.
Murphy will say that each member of the team played an important role. Badeea used her imagination to outsmart her opponents. Tulip proved that one doesn’t need to know all the strategies to be a good wizard chess player. And thanks to your efforts, Murphy was able to realize his dream.
Most importantly, you understood everyone’s unique qualities and helped your teammates utilize them to win the tournament.
Your previous choice will take effect here.
All of your teammates will agree that you should be the one to keep the trophy.
You’ll thank them for that. The trophy will help you remember the team’s victory and how much you mean to your teammates. Moments later, you and your teammates will continue celebrating the team’s victory.
This will conclude Part 4 of The Curse-Breaker’s Gambit adventure. Hit the Collect button to claim your rewards. You will receive 4 gems, 3 chocolate frogs, and 1000 Experience Points. You’ll earn the achievement for completing the adventure.
The trophy you received can be placed in your Dormitory or the Secret Clubhouse. Occasionally, you can tap on it to receive energy.
Now, that was quite an adventure. You helped Murphy realize his dream and win the tournament. But more importantly, you held the team together and helped them set aside their differences and work together.
Thank you for reading and see you soon in the Wizarding World!
