Walkthrough
[Disclaimer: This walkthrough will feature the gameplay from the perspective of a Year 5 student. Since the adventure is available for students of Year 5 and above, the star and attribute requirements for certain tasks might be different for you, depending on your current progress of the main story.]
Once you start the adventure, Barnaby will ask you to meet him and Chiara at the Three Broomsticks for a Butterbeer. Proceed there when you are ready. Upon arriving, you will be able to interact with some of the characters and see what they have to say. You’ll happily greet your friends and say that you’re looking forward to chatting with them over a Butterbeer.

Both Chiara and Barnaby will agree that having a break from adventuring is a nice thing. Well, at least you’re in for one adventure-free afternoon. Moments later, you will notice an interesting-looking wizard entering the inn.

He’ll make himself comfortable on one of the tables and say that he is looking for someone for an extraordinary adventure. You will ask your friends if the wizard is Xenophilius Lovegood. Barnaby will confirm that you are right. He’ll also mention an interesting Quidditch article about Ethan Parkin that appeared in The Quibbler.

Chiara will chuckle and say that he shouldn’t believe everything he reads in magazines. However, Barnaby will be convinced that treacle tarts don’t lie. You, on the other hand, will be interested to hear what Mr. Lovegood has to say.
Xenophilius will stand on top of one of the tables and tell everyone that the legendary Crumple-Horned Snorkack has been spotted near Hogwarts. He will also say that he’s looking for someone who can provide a photograph of this magical creature.

You will ask your friends if this elusive magical creature is real. Chiara will be doubtful of that. As for Barnaby, he will be pretty sure that those creatures exist. In any case, finding a Crumple-Horned Snorkack would be an interesting opportunity to get your photograph on the front page of the Quibbler.

But Chiara is not convinced that such a being exists. In any case, Barnaby suggests asking for more information. You’ll agree with him. To ask around, you have to collect five stars within three hours. Three stars are necessary to pass.

The only reward action here is tied to your character. Prioritize your actions if you want to save a bit of energy.

As it seems, Mr. Lovegood is offering a hefty reward for a photo of a Crumple-Horned Snorkack… 87 Galleons to be precise. You will sum up the things you know about the creature.

Chiara will ask if you believe it exists. There are two options to reply with. This choice will be referenced during one of the dialogues later on, but other than that, it won’t have any significant impact on the story, so feel free to take your pick.

Barnaby will point out that magical creatures weren’t recorded until the early 20th century, which means that there are many of them that have not yet been discovered.
Chiara will reflect on his words and admit that there is a possibility that there is a creature such as Crumple-Horned Snorkack exists. However, she is a bit worried about the consequences that the revelation of its existence would have for the entire wizarding world.

Barnaby will try to reassure her that nothing will happen to the Crumple-Horned Snorkack. Besides, the reward Mr. Lovegood is offering is another reason to look for the creature. Chiara will say that she could really use the reward to good use. You’ll be curious to know what she plans to do with it. Barnaby will guess that she wants to buy a lot of treacle tarts.

She will hesitate to answer your question for a while, before saying that she needs the money to buy some school supplies. In any case, you will all agree to find and photograph the Crumple-Horned Snorkack.
Chiara will ask you to meet with her at the Care of Magical Creatures. Proceed there when you are ready. You will ask why she wanted to meet with you.

She will say that she wanted to practice some tracking skills and spells to make it easier to track the Crumple-Horned Snorkack. You will think her idea is brilliant, but unfortunately, you will admit that you don’t know any tracking spells. It seems Chiara has already asked Professor Flitwick to teach her. She’ll kindly offer to help you learn the tracking spell.

She will tell you the incantation and show you the wand movement.

Shortly after, you will get to try casting the spell. Trace the wand movement to do so.

The spell will work as intended, and a set of glowing tracks will appear on the ground. Chiara will appreciate your talent. You will modestly acknowledge having a good teacher. Then you’ll question her about the tiny footprints.

Chiara will claim that she released a Niffler right before you arrived because she wanted to practice tracking a real magical creature. She’s thoughtful, and you’ll like that. She will declare her sincere desire to receive the prize.
You’ll then decide to track down the Niffler. To do that, you need to obtain five stars within an hour. Three stars are needed to pass.

Be sure to slide the screen left and right to see all the available actions. There is a bonus action linked to your character, so prioritize it if you want to save a bit of energy.

When you are done, you will find the Niffler hiding behind the shed.

Chiara will praise you for finding it. You’ll say that it was very easy thanks to the spell she taught you. She will thank you for your kind words and say once again that she really wants to win the reward money. You will recall her saying she needs it for her school supplies and you’ll quickly offer to help her out.

She will explain that the supplies she needs aren’t common. This will make you curious, so you’ll ask her to tell you what she needs.
Chiara will simply say that she isn’t comfortable talking about it. You can choose to ask her for a hint or drop the topic. If you like Chiara and want to respect her privacy, it is highly recommended to pick the second option.

She will apologize for not telling you everything. You’ll smile at her and offer your support. You’ll also say you’ll do your best to help her win the prize money.

Chiara will be happy to hear that and she’ll ask if you have any idea where to start searching for the Crumple-Horned Snorkack.

You will suggest investigating Hagrid’s Garden first. Go there when you are ready. Chiara will hope that you’ll be able to find a Crumple-Horned Snorkack.

You’ll tell her that you’ve started your hunt at Hagrid’s Garden since magical creatures frequently make their way there. Next, you will pull out your wand and begin casting the tracking spell. To achieve this, follow the path of the wand.

The spell will work and all sorts of tracks will appear on the ground. Chiara will ask if you remember what Crumple-Horned Snorkacks look like. There are three options to choose from. The correct answer is ‘Purple, spiral horn, pig nose’.

Moments later, you will start looking for the creature. Analyzing the tracks requires earning five stars within three hours. All five stars are needed to pass, which is why it’s not recommended to start this task if your energy is low.

Make sure to slide the screen left and right to see all the available actions. There are reward actions tied to your character and some rocks. Focus on those if you are looking to save as much energy as possible.

Once you’re done searching, you will notice something behind one of the pumpkins. Chiara will get her camera ready. Suddenly, Barnaby will appear, holding a camera. He will be surprised to see you.

He will happily greet both of you. Chiara will be slightly disappointed that Barnaby was behind the pumpkin and not the creature you were looking for. That will only confuse poor Barnaby, and you will hear him say some funny things.

You’ll be interested to learn what he was doing in the pumpkin’s shadow. He will say that he was attempting to take a picture of a Moon Frog. Unfortunately, something spooked it. You’ll acknowledge that it was probably Chiara and you that scared the Moon Frog away.

Barnaby will say that he had no luck with his search for the Crumple-Horned Snorkack, so he decided to take a photo of a Moon Frog instead. Chiara will say that the two of you didn’t have much luck with your search, either. The choice that you made back in the Three Broomsticks will take effect here.

In any case, you will suggest asking Mr. Lovegood to buy a photo of Barnaby’s Moon Frog. Chiara will be unsure if he will agree to that. You’ll say there’s only one way to find out. She will decide to keep looking for the Crumple-Horned Snorkack in the meantime.

You’ll ask Barnaby to go with you to the Three Broomsticks. You will have to wait four hours before you can continue. Since you will likely be low on energy at this point, it is recommended to wait and let your energy recharge in the meantime.

Proceed to the Three Broomsticks once the waiting time is over. Upon arriving, you will notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you are interested to see what they have to say. You will notice Mr. Lovegood sitting at one of the tables.

Barnaby will wonder if it’s a good time to talk to him about the Moon Frog photo. You’ll point out that you don’t have much time. Your friend will admit that he is very nervous. He will say that he simply cannot speak to Mr. Lovegood, so he’ll ask if you can do it. There are two options to choose from. If you like Barnaby, it is highly recommended to encourage him.

The following part will play out differently, based on your choice. If you decided to speak to Mr. Lovegood, you will ask him about his photo contest. On the other hand, if you encouraged Barnaby, he will have a slight problem getting the words out of his mouth.

Thankfully, you will step in to help your friend and encourage him. He will somehow compose himself and ask Mr. Lovegood about the photo.

Xenophilius will ask if any of you managed to get a photo of the Crumple-Horned Snorkack. Sadly, that won’t be the case. Mr. Lovegood will say that he has no time for questions since he is busy with work.

Apparently, his daughter, Luna, accidentally mixed up his papers. You will offer to help him organize them. He will gladly accept your help and say that you can talk afterward. Helping Mr. Lovegood organize his papers requires earning five stars within eight hours. All five stars are needed to pass.

The only bonus action here is tied to your character. Focus on your actions if you want to save some energy.

Mr. Lovegood will thank you for helping him. You will finally get the opportunity to talk to him. You’ll get straight to the point and ask if he would be willing to pay for a photo of a Moon Frog. You will also mention that Barnaby saw a Moon Frog recently. Mr. Lovegood will say that Moon Frogs are very rare creatures.

Still, he is more interested in getting a photo of a Crumple-Horned Snorkack. You’ll try your best to convince him.

In the end, he will agree to buy your Moon Frog photo, as long as no one else brings him a photo of a more exciting creature.

You will find his terms fair. He will be curious to know where the Moon Frog is. Unfortunately, Barnaby won’t be able to answer his question. Mr. Lovegood will advise your friend to retrace his footsteps and find the Moon Frog as soon as possible. He’ll then return to his work.
Your previous choice will take effect here. If you encouraged Barnaby, he will thank you for it. Otherwise, he will be relieved that he didn’t have to talk to Mr. Lovegood.

You will try to figure out a way to find the Moon Frog. Ismelda will approach you, saying there’s no way you will win the reward with a Moon Frog photo.

You’ll say she probably doesn’t have anything better. She will assert with confidence that you are mistaken about that. You’ll be interested to learn about the creature she has in mind. However, she won’t be open with you about anything. She will say something rude before leaving the inn.

You will tell Barnaby that your best bet is finding the Moon Frog before Ismelda gets to her creature. And to do that, you’ll have to retrace his steps.

This will mark the end of Part 1 of The Quibbler: Fight for the Front Page adventure. Hit the Collect button to claim your reward. You will receive 300 coins
Will Barnaby be able to retrace his steps? And will Chiara have any luck finding the Crumple-Horned Snorkack? Also, will she tell you why she is so determined to win the prize money? Find out in the next part of this exciting adventure.
Thank you for reading.
