Walkthrough
Upon arriving, you will notice the speech bubbles above some of the characters. Tap on those if you are curious to see what they have to say.
You will notice that Barnaby is soaking wet, so you’ll ask if he is all right. He will smile and say that he is feeling great.

He’ll tell you that found something interesting at the bottom of the lagoon in the Hippogriff clubhouse.
Needless to say, you will be surprised to hear that. You will ask what he was doing at the bottom of the Hippogriff lagoon.

He’ll tell you that he wasn’t feeling very well, because of the schoolwork. You will say that there wasn’t any abnormal amount of schoolwork lately. Still, Barnaby will point out that spending so much time studying indoors can be very “dry”.
He’ll ask if you agree with him. There are two options to reply with. If you like Barnaby, it is highly recommended to pick the first option.

If you completed some of the adventures, you’ll get a bit of extra dialogue here.

Barnaby will then explain what he was doing at the bottom of the lagoon in the Hippogriff clubhouse. Apparently, he challenged the Kelpie to a breath-holding contest.

You will find that odd, especially since Kelpies can breathe underwater. Barnaby will smile and say that he didn’t plan on winning the breath-holding contest. He will then show you the book he found on the lagoon’s floor.

You will ask him about it. Barnaby will give you a very “direct” answer.

You’ll be a bit more specific about your question.

Barnaby will be excited to tell you all about the book he found. Learning about the book requires earning five stars within one hour. Three stars are needed to pass.

There are two bonus progress actions tied to Barnaby. Prioritize his actions if you want to save a bit of energy.

You will learn that the book is in fact, the journal of Olin Oakwood, the founding member of the Hippogriff Club.
According to Barnaby, the journal contains information about the Trials of Iron, Oak, and Flame. Those trials are parts of the epic tournament held between the founding members of the three clubs.

Barnaby will tell you the names of the founding members of all three clubs. They are Olin Oakwood of Hippogriff, Margaretta Ironbark of Dragon Club, and Skylar Flame of Sphinx Club.
You won’t recall ever hearing about that tournament. Barnaby will smile and explain why that was the case.

Your previous choice will take effect here.

You will suggest organizing a Tournament of Clubs, similar to the competition described in the journal.
Barnaby will like your idea. He will say that you can count on the members of the Hippogriff Club to take part in the tournament. However, you will need to convince Sphinx Club and Dragon Club to join the competition.

The following lines will differ, based on whether or not you are a member of Sphinx Club and Dragon Club. In any case, you will suggest visiting the Sphinx Club and asking them to join the tournament.

Proceed to the Sphinx Club once you are ready to continue. Upon arriving, you will be able to interact with some of the club members and see what they have to say.
The following few lines will be different, based on whether or not you are a member of the Sphinx Club.

Moments later, Merula will approach the two of you. She will be surprised to see Barnaby. You will tell her that you invited him as your guest. If you are not a member of the Sphinx Club, these lines will be slightly different.

You’ll inform Merula about the tournament and ask if the Sphinx Club would want to take part in it. The Most Powerful Witch at Hogwarts will seem interested in competing against other clubs.

Her following line will differ, based on whether or not you’ve learned the Confundus Charm yet.

Merula will ask if you know what the Confundus Charm does. There are three options to reply with. The correct answer is “It causes its target to become confused”.

After considering it for a moment, Merula will agree to have the Sphinx Club join the tournament, as long as you can defeat her in a duel.
You will find her terms acceptable. Dueling Merula requires earning five stars within three hours. Since all five stars are needed to pass, it is not recommended to start this task if you are low on energy.

Despite this being a duel between your character and Merula, it will behave similarly to most of the regular energy tasks. There are bonus progress actions tied to your character and Merula, so focus on those if you want to save some energy.

In the end, you will be able to disarm your opponent and win the duel.

Merula will smile and say that the Sphinx Club will join the tournament. You will be glad to hear that. She will suggest that you join their team.

If you completed the Welcome to the Sphinx Club adventure, you will get an additional line of dialogue.

Merula will make it clear that she would prefer to have you compete for the Sphinx Club.

You’ll thank her for the offer and say that you will consider it. More importantly, you still need to convince Dragon Club to join the competition.
Proceed to the clubhouse when you are ready to continue. Once you arrive, you will notice the speech bubbles above some of the club members. Tap on those if you are curious to see what they have to say.
The following few lines will be different, based on whether or not you are a member of the Dragon Club.

If you’ve completed A Dragon’s Quest adventure, you will get some extra lines of dialogue.

Moments later, Jae will arrive and ask if any of you saw a Golden Snitch flying nearby.

You will say that you didn’t. You’ll use the opportunity to inform Jae about the tournament.

Barnaby will tell him about the journal of Olin Oakwood. Jae will wonder if the journal is valuable.

Moments later, he will spot the Golden Snitch.

He will ask you to help him catch it.

Catching the Golden Snitch requires earning five stars within three hours. All five stars are needed to pass, so avoid starting this task if your energy bar is empty.

Be sure to slide the screen left and right to see all the available actions. There are actions with bonus progress tied to Rath, your character, and the Golden Snitch. Prioritize those if you want to save some energy.

After flying around for a while, you will manage to catch the Golden Snitch.

Jae will praise your flying skills. He’ll ask you to give him the Golden Snitch. You can choose whether you want to give Jae the Snitch or hold it as leverage. This choice will be referenced later on. If you like Jae, it is highly recommended to give him the Golden Snitch.

In any case, Dragon Club will join the tournament. You’ll be glad to hear that. Jae will ask you to join their team.

You will thank him for the invitation. Given that students are allowed to join many different clubs, everyone will have to choose a club to compete for during the tournament.

Needless to say, you will have to give it some thought. In the meantime, you will suggest gathering all three clubs at the training grounds to go over the rules of the contest.
Proceed to the training grounds when you’re ready. Once you arrive, you will be able to chat with some of your classmates. Merula will ask you to explain the rules of the tournament.

You’ll thank everyone for coming and say that you want to go over the rules of the contest. Everyone will turn their attention to Barnaby. He will look at his notes, but he won’t say anything about the rules.

You’ll ask if he’s read about the rules in Olin Oakwood’s journal. Barnaby will admit that he forgot to do that.

You’ll suggest checking the journal and learning the rules of the tournament together. Learning the rules requires earning five stars within three hours. Three stars are needed to pass.

There is a bonus progress action tied to your character. Prioritize it if you want to save a bit of energy.

You will go over some of the rules of the tournament.

Barnaby will explain the rounds. There will be four rounds: Gobstones, Dueling, Care of Magical Creatures, and an all-out All-Clubs showdown.

Merula will look forward to competing. You’ll remind her that this tournament is supposed to be a friendly contest.

Barnaby will assume the role of the tournament’s referee. He will ask everyone to play fair.

Jae will say that the professors cannot find out about the contest and you’ll agree with him. You will ask Barnaby if everything is ready for the tournament to begin.
He’ll say there is one important matter that needs to be resolved. Everyone will need to choose which club they’ll be representing for the competition. You will recall receiving invitations from Sphinx Club and Dragon Club.

Merula will urge you to join Sphinx Club.

Jae will advise you to join Dragon Club. If you’ve completed A Dragon’s Quest adventure, his line will be slightly different.

Barnaby will say that he would love to see you competing for the Hippogriff Club.

His following line will differ, based on whether or not you completed some of the side quests and adventures.

You will be honored that all three clubs want you on their team.

Deciding which one to join won’t be easy. Barnaby will advise you to visit each of the clubs before deciding which one to represent. You’ll like his idea.

This will mark the end of Part 1 of The Tournament of Clubs adventure. Hit the Collect button to claim your reward. You will receive 300 Coins.
The tournament is soon to begin. But there is still an important decision ahead of you. Which club are you going to represent during the competition? Find out in the next part of this adventure!
